'I was crushed': Clinton says Trump inauguration was 'one of the hardest days of my life'

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

Hillary Clinton said that attending President Trump's inauguration was one of the most difficult days of her life.

Clinton made the remarks Wednesday during an interview with radio personality Howard Stern on The Howard Stern Show. She said that she was crushed by seeing Trump sworn in as president.

"You know, I went to the inauguration of Donald Trump, which was one of the hardest days of my life, to be honest," Clinton said.

"When you're standing there watching this guy, what the hell is going through your head?" Stern asked, noting that he was watching her even more than he was watching Trump.

Jim Perdue: My company is addressing poultry waste

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

This From Food & Water Watch - Maryland.

"ICYMI: Jim Perdue's defense of his corporation after The Baltimore Sun published their editorial 'Clean up Maryland's poultry manure problem now'. In it he claims that Perdue is working to protect the Chesapeake Bay. This is, to be polite, a load of chicken litter!

Each year, chicken factory farms in Maryland produce 34 thousand tons of litter. That's more than half what the residents of Baltimore produce! It's simply too much volume to be used safely as fertilizer in the area where it's produced and the soil is oversaturated.

Trucking the waste elsewhere is at best, a temporary solution. Not only are regulations surrounding the practice poorly implemented and enforced, but the contract growers and taxpayers are left to foot the bill. As mentioned in Clean up Maryland's poultry manure problem now, the Poultry Litter Management Act offered a more just way of handling the problem.

Using the waste to generate biogas is not a real solution, either. This expensive technology requires massive chicken litter inputs, still requires trucking, and requires subsidies to be profitable. Ultimately, this is greenwashing - not "renewable" energy. It does nothing to address public health issues, and can even be used as an excuse for building more factory farms.

We need real solutions to the environmental degradation factory farms are causing on the Eastern Shore. We need a moratorium on all new and expanding factory farms. And it should be large corporations like Perdue that pay for cleaning up the mess from the existing ones."

Joe Biden Stuns Crowd by Talking about Kids Playing with His Hairy Legs and How Much He Loves Children on His Lap and Roaches… WTH? (Video)

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

During an earlier campaign stop in Wilmington, Delaware Joe Biden went off script. He went WAY OFF script.

While speaking to a black audience Joe Biden suddenly started babbling about children stroking his hairy legs in the pool and how much he loves to have children on his lap. Also something about roaches?

Joe Biden: And by the way I sit on a stand, I got hot, I got hairy legs that turn, that, that, that, turn blond in the sun. And the kids used to come up and reach in and pull and rub my legs, and watch the hairs rise up again. So I learned about roaches. I learned about kids jumping up on my lap. And I love kids jumping on my lap.

Governor Hogan Statement on Today’s Indictments of 25 Correctional Officers

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

Governor Hogan Statement on Today's Indictments of 25 Correctional Officers

ANNAPOLIS, MD–Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement after the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) announced the indictments of 25 correctional officers:

"From the first day of our administration, we have been working diligently to root out wrongdoing and corruption no matter where it is taking place, including in the state's correctional system. Our administration funded more prosecutors for the state's corruption unit and doubled the number of investigators for prison corruption. We strengthened the gang statutes that will be used to prosecute these horrendous crimes.

"Today's announcement follows an extensive investigation initiated by our Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. With this latest round of indictments, our anti-corruption actions have led to the arrests and convictions of over 200 officers, inmates, and citizen accomplices.

"We are again making clear that we have absolutely no tolerance whatsoever for corruption of any kind in our state prison system or anywhere else in state government. Our correctional officers have one of the most difficult jobs in all of public safety, and we will not let the criminal behavior of the few tarnish the great work of the nearly 5,000 dedicated officers who serve with distinction every single day."

NOTE: Under the Hogan administration, DPSCS doubled the number of IID detectives–essentially the internal police force within corrections and the other Public Safety agencies. The enhanced team of investigators is tasked with criminal investigation across the department.

Wicomico School Board Vacancy Process Talks Stall

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

SALISBURY – After months of discussion on the process for filling a vacant seat on the school board, officials in Wicomico County last week agreed to hold off on any possible changes.

Last week, the Wicomico County Council met with members of the Wicomico County School Board Nominating Commission in a work session to continue a discussion on the procedure for filling a vacancy on the Wicomico County Board of Education.

"The purpose of the meeting today is to evaluate whether or not there are ways we can tweak it to make it a little more user-friendly as a whole for the committee," Council President John Cannon said.

Conversations on changing the process began in September, after issues regarding the nomination and appointment process were brought to light.

Sharpton: Kamala Held to Higher Standard Because She Is a Black Woman

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

On Tuesday's broadcast of MSNBC's "Deadline," network host Al Sharpton argued Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) had to drop out of the 2020 presidential campaign in part because of racism and sexism.

Sharpton said, "First of all, I think that she ran a great race. I think that she is a great candidate."

He continued, "But she is dealing with an environment where you have for the first time, that you have these kind of rules that are different."

Host Nicolle Wallace asked, "What rules?"

Sharpton said, "Certain amount of money, certain amount of polling to be in the debates. And when you have a Tom Steyer who is fine, raised great issues, but this woman is a U.S. senator, was attorney general of the state and was a district attorney. Steyer could come in and buy commercials and up his polling. And I think that the real problem the Democrats are going to have is the next debate, you have no black on that stage. The Democrat Party cannot have a stage where black voters do not see themselves reflected."

LGBTQ Group Calls on Hallmark Channel to Broadcast a “Gay Christmas”

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

You won't find "I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus" on the Hallmark Channel this year and that's a mighty big problem for some folks in the LGBT community.

The family-friendly television network is under fire from activists for a lack of diversity in their Christmas programming. Specifically, they want Hallmark to don some gay apparel.

"Hallmark and Lifetime Have 70 New Holiday Movies – None with an LGBTQ Main Character," Yahoo declared in a recent story.

LGBTQNation.com got right to the point in a recent editorial.

"So, Hallmark and Lifetime, how long are we going to have to wait for that LGBT holiday romance movie," they asked.

They rationalized their request by suggesting that women and gays love to kiss. And therefore, a dude-on-dude smooth would be a boon for viewership and advertising revenue.

"We lost a really good one, the senator from California," Biden said. "She is capable of being president or vice president or on the Supreme Court or attorney general. Her capacity is unlimited."

They escaped MS-13 in Central America only to find the gang thriving in northern Virginia

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

FAIRFAX, Virginia — Immigrants who fled Central American countries to get away from transnational criminal organizations such as MS-13 have come to the United States only to find the exact same gangs terrorizing northern Virginia communities.

Five federal and local officials who work on gang matters in the region told the Washington Examiner that while they do not have a way to calculate exactly how many people — asylum seekers, temporary protected status recipients, immigrants, and those without documents — have been victims of crimes committed by MS-13 and others, the immigrant community in Fairfax County, Virginia, is often on the receiving end of extortion, violence, and other crimes.

"We know that these gangs ... victimize their own communities. We know that sometimes in these immigrant communities they may not report all the crimes to police and that people in these immigrant communities are also escaping the gangs from their countries, and they're finding them over here in the United States as well," said Francisco Klockner, a gang prevention coordinator with the Fairfax County juvenile and domestic relations district court.

St. Buttigieg Clings to Bible as He Looks for Votes in South Carolina

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

Mayor Pete Buttigieg continues emphasizing that he is a Bible-believing Christian, attempting to earn the support of Democrats in South Carolina.

The South Bend mayor released an ad in South Carolina on Monday, emphasizing his citation of Scripture during his November speech at the Iowa Democrats Liberty and Justice dinner.

"In our White House, you won't have to shake your head and ask yourself, 'Whatever happened to, 'I was hungry and you fed me; I was a stranger and you welcomed me?'" Buttigieg says in the ad footage, citing Matthew 25:35.

Since he entered the race, Buttigieg has used social teachings in the Bible to shame Republicans and justify his positions on amnesty for illegal immigrants and abortion.

"Jesus speaks so often in hyperbole and parable, in mysterious code, that, in my experience, there's simply no way that a literal understanding of Scripture can fit into the Bible that I find in my hands," he said in a November interview with Rolling Stone.

Baltimore County Teacher Quits, Says School is 'Chaos'

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

Stephanie Robusto came forward to Project Baltimore after receiving a letter from a nine-year-old student at Pleasant Plains Elementary in Towson. The letter read:

"Dear. Ms. Robusto, I'm so, so upset that every single day you have to deal with this. Every day I think 'I know today Ms. Robusto will be mistreated again.' I bearly (sic) see smiles in this room. It's just problems. Whenever this happens my lid pops out. I feel like an animal in a cage filled with disrespect. I just want you to be happy with what you are doing."

For 10 years, Stephanie Robusto dedicated herself to teaching, but she walked away from her job a few weeks ago.

"I don't want to go back," she told Project Baltimore. "It's like losing a part of yourself. But at the same time, it's a huge weight lifted."

Job discrimination: 1 in 5 won’t hire Trump supporters

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

It's not legal in most cases, and certainly not right, but 1 in 5 left-leaning bosses "will not hire" supporters of President Trump, and huge majorities of hiring managers want to know the positions job candidates have on highly controversial issues including race and immigration, according to a sweeping new survey.

What's more, job seekers reluctant to cough up their views and positions in interviews can't hide them because nearly all employers sift through social media posts, mostly Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, of those they are considering for jobs.

"Workplace discrimination is a real and pressing issue, and candidates get their applications sidelined or overlooked due to these factors all the time," according to the survey from Airtasker provided exclusively to Secrets.

Warren: I’ll Be ‘Last American President Elected By The Electoral College’

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

On Monday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren reiterated her view that the Electoral College should be abolished and U.S. presidents should be elected by popular vote. "My goal is to get elected—but I plan to be the last American president to be elected by the Electoral College. I want my second term to be elected by direct vote," she tweeted.

In the accompanying video clip, she said, "Call me old fashioned, but I think the person who gets the most votes should win."

Warren has a curious idea of what counts as "old fashioned," since her position on the Electoral College puts her at odds with the decidedly old fashioned Founding Fathers, who rightly worried about what James Madison called the "tyranny of the majority."

Prestigious public high school stages walkout to protest that school is 50% white

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

Students from one of the most selective New York City public high schools, which is half white, staged a walkout to advocate for more diversity in the city's schools.

About 300 students at the prestigious Beacon High School walked out of class on Monday to demonstrate against the school's stringent admissions standards, according to the New York Times. They believe that rigid screening procedures have contributed to segregation in the school system.

"The abundance of privilege in our school is so universal that it usually goes unquestioned and unnoticed," said Toby Paperno, a white student at the school.

During the protest, students chanted slogans such as "end Jim Crow" and "education is a right, not just for the rich and white."

North Korea: ‘Entirely up to the U.S. What Christmas Gift It Will Select to Get’

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

A high-ranking North Korean official called dialogue with the United States a "foolish trick" in remarks Tuesday and warned Washington that it is "entirely up to the U.S. what kind of Christmas gift" North Korea will send it.

The communist regime's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) carried the full comments from Ri Thae Song, vice foreign minister for American affairs. In them, Ri protested that North Korea "has heard more than enough dialogue rhetoric" from the United States and would no longer move forward with talks, urging Washington to instead consider "acting in response to the measures taken by the DPRK [North Korea]."

While Ri did not specify what actions Pyongyang wished to see America take, North Korean officials regularly demand that the United States lift the extensive sanctions placed on their economy and help lift the global sanctions placed on it by the United Nations.

Democrat Rep. Al Green Furious No ‘People of Color’ Among Impeachment Witnesses

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) blasted his own party's impeachment inquiry over the lack of diversity in the selection of witnesses, declaring it "hurts his heart" and asking, "What subliminal message are we sending to the world when we have experts, but not one person of color?"

Green, a longtime proponent of President Trump's impeachment, blasted his own party's impeachment inquiry over its lack of diversity in witnesses, citing the four white legal scholars testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, three of whom were chosen by Democrats.

"Not one person of color among the constitutional scholars. It seems that there's a desire among some to have the output of people of color without input from the people of color," he added, calling for a "balance as it relates to all aspects of society, and that would include people of color."

Pelosi: House will vote on articles of impeachment against Trump

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House will pursue articles of impeachment against President Trump for his "failure to faithfully execute the law."

The California Democrat said the House has gathered evidence from weeks of testimony that shows the president abused his office and obstructed Congress in an effort to undermine his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.

"The president leaves us no choice but to act because he is trying to corrupt once again, the election for his own personal benefit," Pelosi said. "Today, I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment."

Chicago police chief Eddie Johnson is FIRED for 'lying' about falling asleep in his car after 'a few drinks' by furious new mayor

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

Chicago police chief Eddie Johnson was dramatically fired on Monday less than a month before he was due to retire for allegedly lying about falling asleep in his car after 'a few drinks' last month.

At a press conference, the city's new mayor Lori Lightfoot spoke furiously as she accused Johnson of deliberately 'misleading' her, the city and the police department when he claimed in October.

Johnson, a 31-year veteran of the force, was found asleep behind the wheel of his car on October 17 at 12.30am after a member of the public called 911.

He later blamed his drowsiness on a mix-up with medication he was taking and said he had had a 'few' drinks at dinner. Johnson subsequently announced he would be retiring in December.

But after conducting an investigation into the incident which included reviewing surveillance footage of the night in question, Mayor Lightfoot said it was clear he lied about the incident.

She refused to say how, saying she wanted to protect his wife and three children, but said it amounted to conduct that was 'unbecoming' of his position.

Los Angeles Police testing non-lethal device capable of detaining people from up to 25 feet away

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

The Los Angeles Police Department will begin testing a device designed to snare a person from a distance, giving officers an alternative to firing a Taser or a gun, CBS Los Angeles reports. The device, known as the BolaWrap 100, fires a Kevlar cord that wraps around a person's torso and legs from up to 25 feet away.

Manufactured by Las Vegas-based Wrap Technologies, the handheld device emits a gunshot-type noise when it deploys the tether, which has barbs attached that can create a "very small puncture" when the tether wraps around a person, according to Wrap COO and retired assistant L.A. County Sheriff Mike Rothans.

Frequent LAPD critics who attend Police Commission meetings criticized the tool, including Black Lives Matter member Adam Smith, who argued the department would probably deploy the device mostly in minority communities, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Trump Mocks Pelosi's "Nervous Fit" After She Snaps At Reporter

As we detailed earlier, having accused President Trump of "abuse of power" and calling for the House to draft articles of impeachment for "using the office of the President for personal gain," pointing out that The Founders "could not have foreseen such a rogue president;" and then calling the president a "coward" for not helping kids on gun violence, blasting him as "cruel" for not helping DREAMers, and slamming him for being "in denial" over climate change; a reporter at Speaker Pelosi's weekly press conference dared to ask if she "hated" President Trump.

This impeachment is too complicated to win over independent voters. That should worry Democrats

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

What every single House Democrat knows but has refused to say publicly was conveniently published in the New York Times on Wednesday morning.

Caroline Fredrickson, a lawyer who worked at the White House during Bill Clinton's impeachment, rightly observed in an op-ed that the Democrats' case against President Trump is exhausting in its obscurity.

"Today's allegations," she wrote, "are all over the map and could amount to a lengthy list of articles of impeachment. Unfortunately for House Democrats, the complexity of this story does not help their cause."

DEM IMPEACHMENT ‘WITNESS’ GOES ON UNHINGED RANT ABOUT HOW TRUMP RUINED HER THANKSGIVING

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST

One of the "witnesses" brought forward by House Democrats descended into a bizarre rant about how President Trump ruined her Thanksgiving holiday.

Stanford law professor and lawyer Pamela Karlan testified Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee that she was so distracted poring over other "witness" transcripts during her Thanksgiving holiday that she was forced to order a pre-cooked turkey in the mail.

"I spent all of Thanksgiving vacation sitting there reading these transcripts," Karlan said. "I didn't – I ate, like, a turkey that came to us in the mail that was already cooked because I was spending my time doing this."
