Question Of The Year 2019 (12-20-19) Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST How long will the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office cover up the biggest local story of the year involving an elected official family member and the very circumstances behind it? Yeah Sheriff Mike Lewis, now I have the rest of the local media chomping at the bit wanting to know what's going on that would make National News while some of us are being called "losers". I happened to be at BJ's having lunch when a BOE person told me about these alleged favors and how juvenile they were. Sheriff Lewis, you may want to get ahead of this one, if you haven't already and let the parents know what's going on since so many students already know.
Salisbury Maryland Mayor Jake Day Calls Me A Loser On Facebook 12-16-19 Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Allow me to straighten your buck teeth ass up here a little bit Mayor Day. I retired at 40. As a novice and with no journalistic education I created the largest news source on the entire Eastern Shore with very supportive advertisers and followers. I ultimately opened the coolest bar/restaurant in West Ocean City on my own. I'm 5.10' tall, hardly a "li'l Guy" and financially I can run circles around you and your family forever. When I look at my friend Bob Culver I not only see a great man, I'd say with extreme confidence the County Executive position is far superior over a wanna be Mayor of a wanna be city. So to call all of us "losers" and coming from a toothy light bulb head, 5.3 inch tall mouthy Mayor I'd honestly say we're very confident in who we are and who you are. My best advice, look in the mirror the next time you make such a remark.
President Donald Trump impeached by U.S. House on 2 charges Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday night, becoming only the third American chief executive to be formally charged under the Constitution's ultimate remedy for high crimes and misdemeanors. The historic vote split along party lines, much the way it has divided the nation, over the charges that the 45th president abused the power of his office by enlisting a foreign government to investigate a political rival ahead of the 2020 election. The House then approved a second charge, that he obstructed Congress in its investigation. The articles of impeachment, the political equivalent of an indictment, now go to the Senate for trial. If Trump is acquitted by the Republican-led chamber, as expected, he would have to run for re-election carrying the enduring mark of impeachment on his purposely disruptive presidency. More

Hillary Clinton Debuts New Bizarre, Bag-Less, Cheeky Look Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:01 AM PST Hillary showed off her new look last night at a fancy Broadway event with husband, Bill. It appears as though she's had some kind of round of botox injections or plastic surgery, as the 72-year-old appeared wrinkle-free through the cheeks and the bags under her eyes are now gone. Fortunately this wasn't photoshopped, as several sites are chiming in on this, including Daily Mail, which spoke to a doctor who specializes in "aesthetics": More
Hallmark says it will "reinstate" TV ads featuring same-sex couple after outcry Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST The Hallmark Channel on Sunday moved to reinstate ads featuring a same-sex couple that had been removed from the cable network. The decision came after considerable backlash over the initial decision to stop airing the ads from the wedding-planning company Zola. "The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we've seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused," Hallmark CEO Mike Perry said in a statement Sunday night. "Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision." "Hallmark will be working with GLAAD [Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] to better represent the LGBTQ community across our portfolio of brands," the statement continued. "The Hallmark Channel will be reaching out to Zola to reestablish our partnership and reinstate the commercials." More

Chuck Schumer Claims He Will Be an ‘Impartial Juror’ in Senate Impeachment Trial Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) claimed Tuesday afternoon to be an "impartial juror" after a reporter asked him whether he and fellow Democrats could live up to the standard they had set for Republicans. Schumer, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), and other Democrats accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other Republicans of violating their duty to act as impartial jurors during an anticipated trial for President Donald Trump in the Senate. The House of Representatives is expected to pass articles of impeachment Wednesday. Democrats, and the media, have claimed that Republicans have already prejudged the outcome of the trial — though most Democrats have also stated their conclusions. Every Senate Democrat running for president has declared that Trump should be impeached (many of them months ago), and most have also said they would vote to remove him. Schumer insists that McConnell allow new witnesses to be called in the Senate, accusing Republicans of a "cover-up" if they refuse. A reporter at Schumer's press conference Tuesday in the Capitol then asked the key question: More here
Man sentenced to 16 years in prison for burning church’s pride flag Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST An Iowa man was sentenced to serve 16 years behind bars after he tore down a rainbow flag symbolizing gay pride from the front of a church and burned it. Adolfo Martinez, 30, was found guilty of a felony hate crime and third-degree harassment after he tore down the pride flag displayed in front of the United Church of Christ in Ames, Iowa. Martinez ripped down the flag and walked it over to Dangerous Curves Gentleman's Club, where police say he was a regular. Martinez, who has two other felonies, received the maximum sentence of 16 years for his crimes because he was a habitual offender. When he committed the crimes in June, he told KCCI that he did it because he despises homosexuality. More
92% of Americans Think Their Rights Are at Risk Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST According to a new Harris Poll/Purple Project survey released Monday, 92% of Americans believe their rights and freedoms are in danger, and part of the problem is political rhetoric, according to a polling expert. "When you frame something as a threat, it creates a bit of a political response, and it creates division and encampments of special interest," John Gerzema, CEO of the Harris Poll said, reports USA Today. The poll of 2,002 people nationwide, showed people fear most that their right to freedom of speech is most under siege: More
Illegal Aliens Celebrate New Jersey Giving Them Driver’s Licenses Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Illegal aliens in New Jersey celebrated and cheered this week after obtaining the right to a driver's license following the passage of a law that will be signed by Gov. Phil Murphy (D). On Monday, following a statewide initiative by the open borders lobby, the New Jersey State House and State Senate passed a bill that will allow illegal aliens living in the sanctuary state to obtain driver's licenses — similar to that of the laws in California and New York. After the legislation's passage, illegal aliens chanted "Sí se puede!" which translates to "Yes we can!" and posted hashtags online such as "#LicensesForAll!" There are roughly half a million illegal aliens living in the state of New Jersey, and nearly 340,000 of those illegal aliens will be eligible for driver's licenses within the next three years following Murphy's signing of the law. Governor Hogan Unveils Bold Energy Legislation Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Path to Cleaner, Smarter, Cheaper Energy with Zero Carbon Emissions and 100% Clean Electricity by 2040; Protects Maryland Jobs While Aggressively Addressing Climate Change ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today unveiled details of bold and innovative legislation to set Maryland on a path to 100% clean electricity by 2040. The Clean and Renewable Energy Standard (CARES) continues the Hogan administration's strong commitment to leading the charge on affordable clean energy, climate change, and greenhouse gas emissions reductions—setting an example of skilled environmental stewardship. The CARES plan, which the governor will submit on the first day of the upcoming legislative session, is bolder than a proposal passed by the General Assembly earlier this year. Joined by Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Secretary Ben Grumbles and Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) Director Mary Beth Tung, the governor made today's announcement at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, following a tour of the facility's state-of-the-art combined heat and power system, which was installed in 2017 using a $464,700 grant from MEA to assist with costs. "Our CARES legislation is a cleaner, smarter, and cheaper plan that protects Maryland jobs," said Governor Hogan. "CARES will deliver on the promise of 100% clean electricity by 2040. It is a balanced and bold strategy that underscores our commitment to aggressively address climate change while setting an example of strong environmental leadership." CARES builds upon Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) to provide a strategy for Maryland to achieve better environmental results through clean energy. It expands the eligibility of credits for clean energy resources to encourage competition and cost-effectiveness for the benefit of Maryland ratepayers. The plan also eliminates the eligibility of these credits and subsidies for controversial energy resources such as "black liquor" and the burning of municipal solid waste to create energy. "Over the last five years, Maryland has become a national leader in energy efficiency and affordable clean energy measures that prioritize the needs of our citizens and the environment," said Director Tung. "CARES will address the carbon elephant in the room by providing a clear path for Maryland's net-zero carbon future with projects like the combined heat and power system at Baltimore Washington Medical Center." CARES is a key component of Maryland's comprehensive, economy-wide strategy to achieve its climate goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 40% by 2030—a goal that is substantially greater than the commitment to reduce emissions under the Paris Agreement. CARES embraces Maryland's clean and renewable energy resources and increases the RPS requirement of 50% by 2030 to 100% clean electricity by 2040. Key elements include:
"Governor Hogan's historic push for clean, homegrown energy is at the heart of our comprehensive climate strategy and serves as a model for other states looking to green and grow their economies," said Secretary Grumbles. The Hogan administration has made record investments to preserve and protect our natural environment, including fully funding Program Open Space for the first time in more than a decade and fully funding the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund for the first time in state history. In total, the administration has committed an historic $5 billion toward wide-ranging bay initiatives—far more than any administration in Maryland history—and continues fighting to protect and restore full federal funding for the Chesapeake Bay. The State of Maryland is also a proud member of the U.S. Climate Alliance, a bipartisan group of governors from across America that is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Hogan administration has pushed for and enacted clean air standards that are stronger than 48 other states and nearly twice as strong as the Paris Accord recommendations. Maryland continues to be a leader in the innovative Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and is an active member of the multi-state Transportation and Climate Initiative.
Schumer Issues List Of Democrat Demands For Senate Impeachment Trial Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), apparently under the impression that he controls the Senate and can dictate the parameters of President Donald Trump's upcoming impeachment trial, issued a list of Democrat "demands" to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other leading Republicans, outlining witnesses, evidence, and testimony he would like presented, as well as proposed timeline for proceedings. Schumer sent the three-page letter to McConnell late Sunday, ostensibly to maximize visibility and capture headlines Monday morning, and to coincide with an appearance on CNN. In his remarks, Schumer called the impeachment trial a "bipartisan" effort and suggested that Republicans and Democrats should work together for a mutually beneficial trial scenario. More
Prices for construction projects spike, likely due to labor shortages Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — Some construction projects in Maryland are costing tens of millions of dollars more than original estimates, in large measure because of a lack of skilled trades in the region. The increase in price for just two large projects at the University of Maryland? About $64 million. "It was about 2014 when the labor shortages started appearing, first in the D.C. submarkets then in Baltimore a couple years later, then fairly prevalent throughout the state now," said Maryland Center for Construction Education & Innovation President Bob Aydukovic. He said that the labor shortages in Maryland, and nationally, can be traced back to the Great Recession of 2008 to 2009. More
It begins: Virginia forms active militia to protect sheriffs, citizens from unconstitutional laws Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Things are getting really bad in Virginia. But this group isn't going down without a fight. Virginia – Earlier in the week, we reported on how lawmakers over in Virginia were threatening to use the National Guard if members of local law enforcement refused to enforce laws passed in the state that they felt violated the second amendment. Well, looks like Tazewell County isn't going down without a fight. On top of calling themselves a second amendment sanctuary county, they're also crafting a militia as well. The Virginia county has taken the movement that has swept across the state and added an element that is sure to trigger pro gun-grabbing politicians in the state. Just this past Tuesday, on December 10th, the Board of Supervisors from Tazewell County passed two different resolutions in light of controversy circling those who are pro-gun. The first resolution declared the county to be a second amendment sanctuary. This is not at all surprising to see, as 76 out of 95 counties, 9 out of 38 independent cities, and 13 towns have adopted second amendment sanctuary resolutions. More

It comes ahead of a two-year 'Synodal Process' by the Germans which will see a national reform consultation despite warnings from the Vatican. More
Jennifer Albero Does It Again And Rescued Yet Another Eagle Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST While on her way home from work tonight Jennifer noticed an eagle that appeared injured on the side of the road under a guard rail. She pulled over and immediately chased the eagle into the woods, removed her jacket and used it to capture it. Folks, this is the third eagle I've seen her rescue since we've been together. She is clearly an animal whisperer and has never lost her touch. As many of you know, Jennifer was the Vet Tech for the Salisbury Zoo for 18 years. Try this link as well to see how incredible she is at this rescue thing. |
