Republicans erupt as Nadler suddenly postpones impeachment vote near midnight Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:07 PM PST Republicans erupted with unbridled fury and frustration late Thursday as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., abruptly wrapped up an all-day marathon hearing on the adoption of two articles of impeachment against President Trump by delaying a planned vote on the matter until Friday morning. "It is now very late at night," Nadler said shortly before midnight. "I want the members on both sides of aisle to think about what has happened over these last two days, and to search their consciences before we cast their final votes. Therefore, the committee will now stand in recess until tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., at which point I will move to divide the question so that each of us may have the opportunity to cast up-or-down votes on each of the articles of impeachment, and let history be our judge." Ranking Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., raised an immediate objection as Nadler began leaving, saying it was "the most bush-league stunt" he had ever seen. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-judiciary-committee-impeachment-vote-sparring?
Pentagon grounds more than 300 Saudi trainee pilots in the US for 'safety' reasons Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:00 PM PST More than 300 Saudi Arabian military aviation students have been grounded as part of a 'safety stand-down' after a Saudi Air Force lieutenant shot and killed three people last Friday at a US Navy base in Florida. The FBI has said US investigators believe Saudi Air Force Second Lieutenant Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, 21, acted alone when he attacked in Pensacola then was fatally shot by a deputy sheriff who was first to respond. The US Defense Secretary said he had instructed the armed forces to review both security at military bases and screening for foreign soldiers who come to the United States for training after the shooting. Bill Clinton leak exposes Democrats' double standard on impeachment Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:30 PM PST Democrats, in their drive toward impeachment, charge that President Trump withheld U.S. aid to Ukraine until Kyiv agreed to launch an investigation into potential corruption involving former Vice President Joseph R. Biden and to conduct an inquiry into Ukrainian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. But there was a much earlier — and more blatant — episode, this time with a Democrat president demanding a clear quid pro quo from a desperate foreign leader. In the spring of 1996, President Clinton was seeking reelection when he met in Egypt with Boris Yeltsin, Russia's first post-Soviet leader who was also facing a tough reelection battle. A leaked memorandum of conversation obtained by The Washington Times found that Mr. Clinton pressured the Russian leader by offering U.S. political support for Mr. Yeltsin's reelection — with just one catch: Russia first had to lift a ban on U.S. chicken imports, imposed over concerns that the poultry was tainted with bad bacteria. Terrifying moment a raging woman in booty shorts rides on TOP of 'her cheating boyfriend's car' Posted: 12 Dec 2019 08:00 PM PST Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and that was certainly the case for one irate woman who stomped on her 'cheating boyfriend's' vehicle. The scantily clad woman can be seen hanging onto the white car as the camerawoman and the driver race to catch up to the commotion. 'She's still on the car,' one of the women can be heard shouting as they weave through traffic. More/Video
California city wants to BAN feeding homeless people in public spaces Posted: 12 Dec 2019 07:30 PM PST A city in California may place a ban on feeding the homeless in public places as homelessness continues to surge in the Golden State. The controversial measure was proposed during a city council meeting on Tuesday night as Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris defended the proposed legislation. 'A lot of people would come to eat, the people feeding them would leave and the mess would be left behind,' Parris said during the meeting, according to Fox News. 'We're talking about people defecating in the entryways of the business. It became a public health problem,' the mayor added. More

At the kickoff event held at The Lightbox Studio in Annapolis, Governor Hogan was joined by members of the Governor's Commission on the Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Passage of the 19th Amendment, including Major General (ret.) Linda Singh, the first female Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard and chair of the Commission. "Our state's history has been shaped by extraordinary women leaders, and our administration remains committed to empowering and advocating for women in Maryland," said Governor Hogan. "I look forward to the many events taking place statewide to commemorate the Year of the Woman. " "We are pleased to join Governor Hogan in recognizing both historical and contemporary Maryland women for their myriad contributions to the state and to the nation," said Major General Singh. "Their stories are told at destinations across Maryland through attractions, special events, curated exhibits and women-centric activities." The Commission's signature event, presented in partnership with Notre Dame of Maryland University and the Women of the World organization, is the WOW Festival on March 7, 2020 at the Columbus Center in Baltimore. The Commission is also collaborating with the Maryland Commission for Women to host the 2020 Women's Centennial Summit on August 26, 2020 at the Lowe House Office Building in Annapolis. The summit, which is free and open to the public, will offer a day of leadership training and development for adult and young women. In addition, the Maryland Department of Commerce's Office of Tourism will lead a targeted marketing strategy to highlight attractions, events, activities, trails, exhibits, and experiences that honor women throughout the state. "The Maryland Office of Tourism has compiled an impressive list of events and activities to be held around the state as we mark this important anniversary and honor the many contributions that women have made in helping to shape the Maryland we know today," said Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:00 PM PST Ethel Rosenberg and husband Julius Rosenberg, two of the most notorious spies in US history, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit espionage in 1951 and were sentenced to death. The Rosenbergs were accused passing top-secret information concerning the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. The Rosenbergs were the first U.S. citizens to be convicted and executed for espionage during peacetime. Julius Rosenberg, an open communist, reportedly recruited Ethel's younger brother, David Greenglass, to give information to the Soviets. While serving in the U.S. Army, Greenglass had been assigned to work on the famed Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of the atomic bomb, and he delivered notes and sketches of classified materials to Julius Rosenberg. According to Greenglass, Ethel took the notes and typed them up for the Soviets. This accusation seems to be the only direct evidence of Ethel's involvement in her husband's spying activities. President Dwight D. Eisenhower had this to say about the Rosenstein's before their executions. "I can only say that, by immeasurably increasing the chances of atomic war, the Rosenbergs may have condemned to death tens of millions of innocent people all over the world. The execution of two human beings is a grave matter. But even graver is the thought of the millions of dead whose deaths may be directly attributable to what these spies have done." In January 2017, before Barack Obama left office, Senator Elizabeth Warren sent the Democrat president a letter requesting a pardon for Ethel Rosenberg. More

Harvey Weinstein, 67, arrives at court with a walker after complaining about back injury Posted: 12 Dec 2019 05:00 PM PST Harvey Weinstein appeared in court in New York with a walker on Wednesday after a frail outing last week prompted questions over his health and was warned by a judge not to let his health get in the way of his trial. Weinstein's bail was increased from $1million to $5million after prosecutors said he had routinely left home without his ankle monitor or all the pieces of it that were required to track him. The judge allowed him to post a $2million insurance bond. In total, there have been 57 violations since his arrest last May, they said. Weinstein said he had been '100% compliant' with bail conditions. He will undergo surgery on Thursday for an apparent back injury that he says he sustained in a car accident in August. More
Muslim Ban goes Global? How India’s Citizenship Bill Discriminates against Muslims Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:30 PM PST The Indian government's proposed law to grant citizenship based on religion violates India's international legal obligations, Human Rights Watch said today. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 protects only the rights of non-Muslim irregular immigrants from the neighboring Muslim-majority countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The bill passed the lower house of parliament on December 9 and will be introduced in the upper house on December 11. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government has sought to justify singling out non-Muslim migrants by claiming that the proposed law will give sanctuary to religious minorities fleeing persecution in neighboring countries. "The Indian government's claim that the citizenship law aims to protect religious minorities rings hollow by excluding Ahmadiyya from Pakistan and Rohingya from Myanmar," said Meenakshi Ganguly, South Asia. "The bill uses the language of refuge and sanctuary, but discriminates on religious grounds in violation of international law." More

Yang campaign fires staffer accused of misconduct Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:30 PM PST Presidential candidate Andrew Yang fired a staffer who was accused of misconduct and mistreatment of others on the campaign. The campaign made the announcement on Wednesday after actress Alyssa Milano withdrew her support from a Yang fundraiser a day earlier. While Milano initially labeled the staffer's behavior as "repeated allegations of sexual misconduct," the staffer's fireable behavior was not sexual in nature, according to Politico's Eugene Daniels. The campaign did not give specifics about the alleged misconduct. "We take any allegation of harassment or mistreatment very seriously on this campaign. If anyone on our team hears about this complaint, we act quickly and immediately," Yang said. More
John Kennedy: It is 'easier to divorce your spouse' than get fired from the FBI Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:30 PM PST Sen. John Kennedy said it was easier to get divorced than get fired from the FBI, during a hearing with Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz. Horowitz appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday to discuss his report assessing the Trump-Russia investigation. Kennedy was questioning Horowitz about the findings of his nearly 500-page report into the origins of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, which looked into alleged ties between associates of President Trump 2016 campaign and Russia. The Louisiana Republican characterized it as the "misfire hurricane" investigation and asked Horowitz how many members comprised the investigative team. More
Ballooning number of medical students shut out of hospital residency fuels doctor shortage Posted: 12 Dec 2019 02:00 PM PST Almost 10% of medical school students each year do not get a hospital residency, leaving thousands without the required training to work as physicians and contributing to a growing shortage of doctors in the U.S., medical education professionals say. "Ultimately, it's a huge hit to our health care infrastructure," said Kevin Lynn, founder of Doctors Without Jobs. "We are desperate for our doctors. And here is a cohort of doctors — thousands that want to practice, that need to practice and cannot." Douglas Medina, who graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2011, hasn't launched a career as a licensed psychiatrist because he hasn't been able to secure a hospital residency for the past eight years. In the meantime, he has been working as a per-diem intake clinician at an addiction treatment center in Las Vegas, where he sets up transfers and evaluates walk-in patients. "Even working this job, there's no way I could get out of this debt," said Mr. Medina, who owes more than $470,000 from student loans. "The only way I can get out of debt is if I work a job as a physician." More
Barr: FBI Falsified Documents to Continue Spying on Trump & Co. After Election Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:30 PM PST Attorney General William Barr says the FBI falsified documents to continue its surveillance of President Donald Trump and his associates after winning the 2016 election, revealing a detail not found in the Inspector General's review of the Bureau's "Crossfire Hurricane" operation in a Tuesday interview with NBC News reporter Pete Williams. PETE WILLIAMS: What questions will John Durham address that the IG didn't? ATTORNEY GENERAL WILLIAM BARR: Durham is looking at the whole waterfront. He is looking at the issue of how it got started. He's looking at whether or not the narrative of Trump being involved in the Russia interference actually preceded July and was it, in fact, the precipitating trigger for the investigation. He's also looking at the conduct of the investigation. There were some things done in the investigation that are not included in Horowitz's report. He's looking at those things. But also, a few weeks ago, I told him that he should spend just as much attention on the post-election period. I did that because of some of the stuff that Horowitz has uncovered, which, to me, inexplicable. More
The Latest Assault on Religious Liberty in the Armed Forces Posted: 12 Dec 2019 01:00 PM PST On a daily basis, some boorish leftist organization wins the headlines jackpot with top billing after having said or done something so absurd and obnoxious that the Leftmedia bobble heads are compelled to report it. I've branded the motivation for this idiocy "The PETA Principle" (as distinguished from "The Peter Principle," regarding the tendency of organizations to promote people to levels beyond their competence). As you know, PETA is that so-called "animal rights" cabal of emotionally unstable individuals who manifest Media Attention Deficit Disorder (MADD) pathology. No, that's not the inability to pay attention, but rather, the inability to tolerate not being the center of media attention. In PETA's case, when the acute desire for more media attention hits, the organization inevitably does something absolutely ludicrous — like selling "Wool Hurts" Christmas sweaters with bloody lambs – its latest campaign against the use of wool. (PETA, in our parlance, is an initialism for "People Eating Tasty Animals.") PETA Principle provocateurs are an obnoxious lot who have broad appeal among other emotionally unstable cadres, most notably those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). They tend to make a lot of noise but, fortunately, that's generally the sum total of their contribution to society. More from the Patriot Post here
Virginia gun law would include grandfather clause for current owners of assault weapons Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:30 PM PST If a proposed assault weapons ban in Virginia is signed into law, citizens who already own the banned weapons would not be required to give up their guns, according to a new report. "The governor's assault weapons ban will include a grandfather clause for individuals who already own assault weapons, with the requirement they register their weapons before the end of a designated grace period," Gov. Ralph Northam's office told the Virginia Mercury on Monday. "Additional details on this and all other bills will be announced prior to the start of the upcoming session." The sweeping legislation, being written by the Democratically-controlled House of Delegates, would ban assault weapons, bump stocks, and high-capacity magazines. More
Ted Cruz mocks Trump-Russia investigation: 'This wasn't Jason Bourne. This was Beavis and Butthead' Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:00 PM PST Sen. Ted Cruz mocked the Justice Department's and FBI's conduct during the Trump-Russia investigation, describing it as being more of an animated sitcom about incompetent teenagers than a spy thriller. The Texas Republican, who has a penchant for making popular culture references, harped on responsible leadership during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with the Justice Department watchdog, who released a report this week on the FBI's effort to monitor members of President Trump's 2016 campaign. "I can tell you from my time at the Department of Justice and from my time in law enforcement, any responsible leader when hearing that you're talking about sending in spies and sending in a wiretap on any presidential nominee should say, 'What in the hell are we doing?'" Cruz said. "And by the way, the people up the chain who are saying 'We didn't know,' if you had responsible leadership, there's no more important decision than you make." More
AOC compares average paid family leave in US to time dogs stay with puppies Posted: 12 Dec 2019 11:30 AM PST New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bemoaned major U.S. employers give women who give birth inadequate time away from work and compared some U.S. paid leave programs to the time female dogs are recommended to stay with their puppies. "Do we know how long puppies are allowed to stay with their mothers after a dog has given birth?" Ocasio-Cortez asked during a congressional hearing on paid family leave programs. "Eight weeks. So, the market has decided that women and people who give birth deserve less time with their children than a dog." Experts testifying before the committee said the average length of a paid family leave program is six to eight weeks. The freshman Democrat was grilling Rachel Greszler, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation with years of research on paid family leave programs. "As a woman who has given birth to six children," Greszler told the Washington Examiner, "I find being compared to a breeding dog with puppies incredibly offensive." More
ICE details how border crisis impacted immigration enforcement in FY 2019 Posted: 12 Dec 2019 11:00 AM PST FY 2019 Enforcement and Removal Operations statistics announced DALLAS — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Matthew T. Albence explained how the unprecedented crisis at the border during this fiscal year impacted nearly every area of the agency's operations, including interior enforcement, detention capacity, transportation, removals, personnel, and overall expenditures. In FY 2019, ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers arrested approximately 143,000 aliens and removed more than 267,000 – which is an increase in removals from the prior year. While the numbers of individuals apprehended or found inadmissible at the border nationwide increased 68% over the previous fiscal year, the total number of aliens arrested by ICE dropped by nearly 10% compared to FY 2018. More than 86% of those arrested by ICE had criminal convictions or pending charges. Albence said ICE expected the lower numbers due to the crisis at the border because ICE needed to redirect resources to combat this unprecedented surge of illegal activity, and clearly demonstrated the detrimental effect the border crisis had on public safety. Cory Booker calls polling 'bullsh**' as he prepares to miss qualifying for final 2019 debate Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:45 AM PST Sen. Cory Booker said he is feeling "pretty good" about his chances in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary despite likely not qualifying for the final debate of the year because of his low polling. "Polling is such bullshit," the New Jersey Democrat said Wednesday morning in an interview with The Breakfast Club. "There has never been a point in the Democratic party in our lifetime where somebody who was leading in the polls went to the White House this far out." Booker's criticism of polls comes as his chance of making the Democratic debate stage is nearly zero. The Democratic candidate is polling at less than 2%, according to RealClearPolitics, and candidates need four qualifying polls at 4% support early states or nationwide along with 200,000 unique donors to reach the debate stage. Trump signs executive order to crack down on anti-Semitism on college campuses Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:15 AM PST President Trump signed an executive order aiming to reduce incidents of anti-Semitism on college campuses in the United States. His executive order classified the Jewish people as an ethnic group in the U.S., rather than just a religious group. Under this new classification, universities must respond to anti-Semitic discrimination or risk opening themselves up to a loss of federal funding under Title VI. Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act says, "No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Posted: 12 Dec 2019 09:00 AM PST The illusory truth effect (also known as the validity effect, truth effect, or the re-iteration effect) is the tendency to believe false information to be correct after repeated exposure. This phenomenon was first identified in a 1977 study at Villanova University and Temple University. When truth is assessed, people rely on whether the information is in line with their understanding or if it feels familiar. The first condition is logical, as people compare new information with what they already know to be true. Repetition makes statements easier to process relative to new, unrepeated statements, leading people to believe that the repeated conclusion is more truthful. In a 2015 study, researchers discovered that familiarity can overpower rationality and that repetitively hearing that a certain fact is wrong can affect the hearer's beliefs.[4] Researchers attributed the illusory truth effect's impact on participants who knew the correct answer to begin with, but were persuaded to believe otherwise through the repetition of a falsehood, to "processing fluency". The illusory truth effect plays a significant role in such fields as election campaigns, advertising, news media, and political propaganda. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Big lie: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." --Joseph Goebbels, Adolf Hitler's Propaganda Minister "Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play." --Joseph Goebbels

The program — announced Wednesday and launched in partnership with the school district and county health department — is believed to be the most ambitious effort in the country to bring these types of services to at-risk youth in public schools. The program, funded by an initial investment of $10 million from Los Angeles County and $6 million from Planned Parenthood over three years, will offer a full range of birth control options, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy counseling, but not abortion, for an estimated 75,000 teens. The program will also train hundreds of teens to be "peer advocates" to help provide information about safe sex and relationships. More

Sources: Pensacola Attacker Had 10 Minutes Without Armed Resistance Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:45 AM PST Two Navy instructor pilots told Fox News the December 6, 2019, Pensacola attacker had 10 minutes without armed resistance in which to carry out his horrific work. Fox News reports those pilots are among a group of instructors who are asking military brass to allow them to carry guns for self-defense. One instructor pilot said, "It's so stupid that on a military base, the shooter was allowed to roam free for so long. In a gun fight, that's an eternity." Breitbart News reported that decision to allow military personnel to be armed for self-defense falls to the installation commanders, per Amendment S. 1536, which was part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2016. That amendment shifted power to authorize defensive carry from the Secretary of Defense to the various installation commanders. On December 6–the day of the Pensacola attack–Breitbart News reported Naval Air Station Pensacola is a gun-free zone. More

FBI Lied To Congress About Fake ‘Defensive’ Briefing Of Trump Campaign In 2016 Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:15 AM PST A 2017 letter from the FBI, responding to a senator's inquiry about the nature of the agency's counterintelligence briefings with the Trump campaign, was contradicted on Wednesday by the testimony of Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz. This latest revelation of FBI lies exposes more undue spying and abuse of power at the highest levels of the intelligence agency. On September 20, 2017, Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa sent a letter to the FBI Director Christopher Wray, asking about whether or not the FBI ever provided the Trump campaign with a defensive briefing regarding Russian interference in 2016. "I write to inquire about whether the FBI ever provided the Trump campaign with a defensive briefing or other warning regarding attempts to infiltrate the campaign by people connected with, or compromised by, Russian intelligence," Grassley wrote. On October 26, 2017, the FBI responded saying they did provide a counterintelligence defense briefing to then candidate Donald Trump and other campaign officials. More
Posted: 12 Dec 2019 06:00 AM PST OCEAN CITY — Elected officials this week approved the parking task force's recommendations to hike some rates during the peak season while offering concessions in the shoulder months, though they are open to further discussions in the future about expanded paid parking. Everything was on the table when the task force appointed by the Mayor and Council last year began exploring options to gain more revenue and improve efficiency for the resort's existing parking system. One stated objective was tweaking the hourly parking rate structure in areas were paid parking already existed including the Inlet lot, on-street in the downtown areas and in the various municipal lots. The "thornier" objective, as City Engineer Terry McGean referred to it, was exploring the possibility of expanding on-street paid parking. As it stands now, paid parking is mostly confined to the Inlet lot, the municipal lots in the downtown area and on the streets south of 10th Street. After multiple meetings last spring before reconvening this fall, the task force had before it options that could have expanded on-street paid parking in the ocean block from 11th to 33rd streets or perhaps even from 34th Street to the Delaware line. USMCA is Trump's Vision (Not Pelosi's) -- and a Shining Example of Promises Made, Promises Kept Posted: 12 Dec 2019 05:00 AM PST "Remember that Pelosi, along with more than 100 other Democrats, voted for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1993. In sharp contrast, there should be no mistake about this: Donald Trump was a NAFTA critic from the get-go," White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro writes in Fox Business. "The USMCA is President Trump's vision"—one that, for example, "will restore North America as the strategic and global hub of automobile manufacturing – and act as a counterweight to the unfair trade practices of both Asian and European automakers."
