'The law is the law': Virginia Democrats float prosecution, National Guard deployment if police don't enforce gun control

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:00 PM PST

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.

After November's Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an "assault weapons" ban, and a red flag law.

Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any gun control measure passed by Richmond.

Hunter Biden’s Baby Mama Lunden Roberts Will Get to Grill Biden UNDER OATH About Money He Made From Burisma

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 08:30 PM PST

Things are really heating up with Hunter's baby mama!

Hunter Biden's baby mama Lunden Roberts will get to grill Biden under oath on December 23 about the money he made whilst sitting on the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company.

A judge in Arkansas has ordered Hunter Biden to be deposed in Roberts' child support lawsuit and answer questions about the money he made from Burisma and his ties to foreign governments.

In a strange turn of events, a 28-year-old stripper from Arkansas was able to get Hunter Biden to answer questions under oath about Burisma — something even the most powerful US Senators have not done.

Birth tourism: Study puts number on impact of birthright citizenship

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:00 PM PST

Foreign tourists to the U.S. give birth to 33,000 babies a year — each of them immediately becoming a citizen — according to a new report being released Thursday that puts numbers on the extent to which immigrants make use of America's birthright citizenship policy.

Almost all of those 33,000 are part of birth tourism, says Steven A. Camarota, the researcher at the Center for Immigration Studies who did the report. That means they came to the U.S. while pregnant on short-term visas for the express purpose of giving birth and earning their child immediate citizenship.

Some 39,000 other foreigner women here on temporary student or guest-worker visas also give birth, Mr. Camarota calculated.

Cigna Uses AI to Check if Patients Are Taking Their Medications

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 06:00 PM PST

Cigna Corp. plans to expand a system that uses artificial intelligence to identify gaps in treatment of chronic diseases, such as patients skipping their medications, and deliver personalized recommendations for specific patients.

The product, called Health Connect 360, integrates data from a combination of sources and analytical tools, some developed at Cigna and others brought in as part of its $54 billion acquisition of pharmacy-benefit manager Express Scripts Holding Co., completed late last year. Express Scripts, which began developing the service two years ago, rolled out portions of it to some customers this year.

Cigna is already using AI to predict whether patients might abuse or overdose on prescription opioids.

'Great way to house a lot of people': Oakland proposes putting homeless on cruise ships

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 05:00 PM PST

The city council president of Oakland, California, has floated putting the city's expanding homeless population on a cruise ship.

Council President Rebecca Kaplan noted that a cruise ship could house as many as 1,000 homeless. She recommended that the city looks into buying a cruise ship to house the homeless as a quick way to have several rooms available while the city considers permanent solutions to the affordable housing crisis in Oakland, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"It could be a great way to house a lot of people quickly," Kaplan explained. "Cruise ships have been used for emergency housing after natural disasters and for extra housing for things like Olympics."

This Is Why A Record Number Of Americans Are Fat & Broke

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 04:30 PM PST

Fast food and takeout are anathema to the 'clean eating' lifestyle trend that has swept the US - and much of the developed world - over the past 10 years. But while spending on gym memberships and boutique fitness classes has risen significantly over the past ten years, recent studies show that over-spending on takeout was the biggest financial mistake made by younger Americans in 2018, according to a MarketWatch report that cited data from a recent study published by Principal.

According to the data, nearly one in three Americans - 29%, up from 26% in 2018 - said dining out was this year's top budget buster for them, followed closely by spending on groceries (which is ironic given the proliferation of low-cost grocers like Aldi that have sprouted up in recent years).

But that's not all: In a separate study, Fidelity found that the No. 1 small financial mistake that most Americans admit to is dining out too much, something that 36% of respondents said they'd done in the past year.

Americans spent roughly $3,500 a year on dining out in 2018, according to government data. That's a new record high, and a 2.8% improvement from the prior year. Sales are projected to hit a record high of $863 billion this year, according to the National Restaurant Association.

Kentucky's Beshear restores voting rights to over 100,000 convicted felons days after inauguration

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order Thursday to restore voting rights to nearly 140,000 convicted felons, making good on an inaugural promise he made just days ago after being sworn in.

The order applies to Kentuckians who have committed non-violent offenses and have completed their sentences and does not include sex offenders, rapists or murderers, Beshear, a Democrat, said to a group of voting rights supporters.

"My faith teaches me forgiveness," Beshear said. "We all make mistakes."

AOC questions why her critics don’t write off $700B in defense spending as ‘free stuff’

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 03:30 PM PST

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned her critics for brushing off her policies such as universal healthcare and tuition-free college as "free stuff" while supporting defense spending.

House Democrats have been deliberating the National Defense Authorization Act, which appropriates funds to the military, as they decide how much funding to put toward defense. While defense appropriations typically have bipartisan support, some of the left-leaning members of the Democratic Party have opposed the current appropriations plan.

On Thursday morning, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a clip of her fellow Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna of California condemning the steady increase in defense spending that has taken place since President Barack Obama was in office. Khanna called it "Orwellian" to call the authorization "progressive" because the funding was going to defense rather than other liberal goals, including free college.

Secret Service Issues Warning About Fake $100 Bills During Holiday Season

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 03:00 PM PST

The Secret Service is issuing a warning about counterfeit $100 bills this holiday season that have been hitting retailers in the purse.

Authorities say that many businesses have been targeted by the bogus $100 bills and other forms of counterfeit money because the counterfeiters have found a way to avoid detection by the businesses through 3D printing.

"Sometimes they bleach the $1 bill and they print $5 or $20 on top of that and when you use the pen, it doesn't work, it shows that its good currency," said South Philadelphia 7-Eleven store owner Vincent Emmanuel.

Emmanuel's store recently got burned by scammers who used several thousand dollars of fake bills to purchase prepaid Visas and Mastercards.

"And the clerk behind the counter is always busy. By the time the person realizes that it's a fake bill, the person is out the door," said Emmanuel.

The Newport News, Virginia, police also noticed an uptick in counterfeit bills being passed along at retail establishments.

'I hope you enjoy a celebration tonight': Boris Johnson prepares to complete Brexit after decisive election victory

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:30 PM PST

Boris Johnson swept to a thumping election victory in Britain as voters, wearied by three years of Brexit wrangling, handed him a mandate to pull out of the European Union next month.

With results still coming in, the Conservative leader was on course to win a majority of more than 80 seats, the best result for the party since Margaret Thatcher's majority of 102 in 1987.

"I hope you enjoy a celebration tonight," he said in a jubilant message to party members. "You powered this campaign. We couldn't have done it without you."

Conservatives began celebrating when voting ended and an exit poll predicted they were on target to pick up 50 seats, giving them 368 Members of Parliament in total. Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party, meanwhile, was on course for 191, the Liberal Democrats 13, the Brexit Party none, and the Scottish National Party 55, according to a BBC/Sky/ITV poll.

Combating Value-Neutrality and Creating Classrooms of Character

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:00 PM PST

Louisville, Kentucky, public school teacher Paul Barnwell was distressed by his 11th-grade students' response to this hypothetical moral quandary: "If your significant other commits a felony where people are gravely injured, do you report them to the police?"

To his dismay, the students resoundingly responded "No!"

His students' reaction made Barnwell recognize the absence of moral instruction and character development in district schools.

In fact, he argued that moral instruction is often neglected, since many teachers are overwhelmed by the pressures to focus instruction on government-assessed standards, such as Common Core, which he notes "ultimately elevated standardized testing and severely narrowed curricula."

"For many American students who have attended a public school at some point since 2002, standardized-test preparation and narrowly defined academic success [have] been the unstated, but de facto, purpose of their schooling experience," Barnwell wrote in The Atlantic.

Yet moral instruction in schools is extremely important to families. In particular, parents rank moral and character development as one of the top three most important qualities in a school.

Council Supports OCFD Request To Replace Rescue Truck

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:30 PM PST

OCEAN CITY — A $1.2 million purchase of a replacement Ocean City Fire Department workhorse vehicle passed at City Hall this week amid some concerns about the department's priority system.

The Mayor and Council reviewed Tuesday a request for a new heavy rescue truck for the fire department at an estimated cost of around $1.2 million. The apparatus is a workhorse for the department and does much of the heavy lifting in the case of emergency and also carries much of the department's heaviest gear along with needed supplies.

The current heavy rescue truck has been in service since 1975 and is nearing the end of its useful life. Since taking the reins last spring, Ocean City Fire Chief Richie Bowers has been systematically renewing the department's apparatus replacement schedule and the heavy rescue truck is the next on the priority list.

"It's a primary unit for us," he said. "We have to handle the emergencies because no one else is coming in a short amount of time. It is a hefty price tag, but it will last us many, many years."

Historian: America’s Homeschooling Parents Are Leading Our Next Revolution

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:00 PM PST

"The leaders of the revolution are America's homeschooling mothers," said C. Bradley Thompson, professor of political science professor at Clemson University and author of America's Revolutionary Mind: A Moral History of the American Revolution and the Declaration That Defined It, expressing his concerns of deepening national political fragmentation in a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM's Breitbart News Tonight.

Thompson began by identifying the philosophical values of America's founding and heralding American exceptionalism.

"[Americanism] is really an extraordinary concept," stated Thompson. "The United States of America is the only nation in the world that I know of that is identified as an ism, right? We speak of Americanism, but we don't speak of Frenchism, Italianism, Germanism, [or] Persianism. It's only Americanism. Americanism is associated with an idea or with principles, and the idea of America, the ideology that is America, the ideology that has attracted tens — if not hundreds — of millions of people to this country over the course of the last several hundred years is, I think, associated with the principles of the Declaration of Independence."

The FBI Teams Up With The Post Office To Get Your Fingerprints

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:30 PM PST

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is teaming up with the "highly efficient" post office to make sure they've got your fingerprints. Even though it wasn't that long ago that people were warned of sharing their DNA with ancestry sites, it seems they might have reason to be concerned now about the FBI's desire to snag your fingerprints too.

Now, the government has announced a new program in which they hope people will voluntarily give their fingerprints. As the public has become more aware of such privacy concerns, it seems strange that on Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a new partnership with the United States Postal Service where customers can voluntarily provide them with their fingerprints while you're at the post office.

Harvey Weinstein reaches $25m civil court deal with more than 30 sexual assault accusers

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 10:30 AM PST

Shamed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has reached a tentative $25million civil settlement with dozens of his alleged sexual misconduct victims – however the former mogul would not have to admit any wrongdoing or pay his accusers out of his own pocket.

Following a two year legal fight, the proposed civil settlement has obtained preliminary approval from all the major parties involved, the New York Times reported.

The claimants – which include more than 30 actresses and former Weinstein employees that have accused him of numerous sexual offenses including rape – would share the payout, along with any other accusers that should come forward in the months ahead.

As a result, the settlement would essentially bring an end to every civil suit filed against the 67-year-old and his former company, pending a court approval and final sign off by all parties.

Judicial Watch: Federal Court Hearing on Awan Brothers, Congressional Democrat IT Scandal

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:30 AM PST

Former Democrat IT staffer Imran Awan allegedly leaked secret data from House offices to a secret server and Dropbox.com

Judicial Watch has announced that a federal court ordered a hearing for Friday, December 13, 2019, on the Congressional Democrat IT (information technology) scandal involving the Awan brothers.

The hearing was ordered in accordance with a November 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, which was filed after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) failed to respond adequately to two separate FOIA requests.

In August 2019, the DOJ told the court that it would begin producing records by November 5, 2019. After producing no records, on November 13, 2019 the agency told Judicial Watch that it was having "technical difficulties," and in a recent email claimed that "difficulties with the production remain."

In a joint status report filed on December 5, 2019, Judicial Watch reported to the court that the DOJ claimed in a phone call that it was now unable to produce any records to either of the FOIA requests "because the agency was waiting for some unspecified action by Judge [Tanya S.] Chutkan in some other matter so as to avoid having to produce records in this case." In that same report the DOJ told the court that Judge Chutkan is "presiding over a related sealed criminal matter" that prohibits the government from releasing the requested FOIA information. [Emphasis added]

Imran Awan and his family were banned from the House computer network in February 2017 after the House's top law enforcement officer wrote that Imran is "an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems," and that a server containing evidence had gone "missing." The inspector general said server logs showed "unauthorized access" and procurement records were falsified.

Imran Awan was Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's (D-FL) top information technology aide.

Judicial Watch Statement on FISA Application Report

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:00 AM PST

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton made the following statement regarding the Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General report:

Today's IG report on the Russiagate FISA abuse provides abundant evidence that the FBI and DOJ massively violated the law in order to obtain the Carter Page spy warrants targeting President Trump.

As IG reports are both exposés and cover-ups at the same time, it is no surprise that the IG punted on implicating senior officials directly in the spy scandal.

President Trump should directly appoint a special counsel from outside of the DOJ and FBI to investigate the Obama/Clinton/Deep State Spygate scandal and other crimes that are in plain sight. In the meantime, Judicial Watch will continue its dozens of Freedom of Information Act lawsuits and investigations, which have already revealed much of what is known about Spygate – the biggest corruption scandal of all time.

SHOCK VIDEO: BLACK TEENS PUMMEL WHITE STUDENT OVER TRUMP HAT

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 08:30 AM PST

Startling footage has emerged from Florida showing a white middle school student being jumped by a group of black teen girls – all over a "Trump" baseball cap.

The footage shows a female student assault the boy as he's sitting in a school bus seat, before at least 7 other girls join in.

The video was spread on social media Thursday by one of the boy's parents, who claimed the 14-year-old's support of the president sparked the November 21 incident.

"I am sitting in the hospital with my 14 year old kid because he was just jumped by 8 black kids on the school bus, I guess that's what happens when a kid wears a #Trump hat to school," the parent wrote on Twitter. "And who's the violent ones again? Earlier today they poured milk all over his head."

House Approves Farm-worker Amnesty, Promotes Visa Workers over Americans

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 08:00 AM PST

Nearly all House Democrats, plus a group of 34 Republicans, voted Wednesday to approve an amnesty for illegal farm workers and to outsource more of the nation's farm workforce to cheap H-2A visa workers.

The bill, H.R. 5038, would likely amnesty more than a million illegal aliens, and it also subsidizes farm companies that hire more H-2A visa workers instead of hiring Americans.

Those subsidies for hiring foreign H-2A workers include rules to cut the H-2A workers' pay below the expected 2020 rates, plus massive housing subsidies for the migrant workers. The biggest subsidy, however, is that employers will be allowed to dangle the prize of Americans' citizenship to H-2A migrants who agree to work at low wages for long hours in harsh conditions.

Drag Queen Prostitute Visits Texas School

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:00 AM PST

If it's OK for drag queens to host story hour, what about prostitutes? At one Austin, Texas, elementary school, students got both.

In what some parents are calling "a sign of things to come" under the city's radical new sex ed, the kids at Blackshear Fine Arts Academy had an unexpected visitor—with an even more unexpected background. But as shocked as parents were to learn that "Miss Kitty Litter ATX" was a convicted criminal, they were even more horrified to find out that the school district knew it.

That's the most astonishing revelation from the open records request that Texas Values filed. Thanks to internal communications between Miss Kitty Litter (real name David Robinson) and the school librarian Roger Grape, moms and dads now know that not only did Blackshear expose their children to this wild and deviant ideology but to a felon too.

McConnell claims Democrat leadership preventing long-term spending solution

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that Democrat leadership was threatening to scuttle a longer-term spending agreement in favor of another stopgap measure.

With a government shutdown looming if Congress does not act before the end of Dec. 20, the Kentucky Republican said his Democrat colleagues were responsible for throwing a last-minute wrench into the process.

"The story is the same as it's been for months: partisan policy demands, poison pills, exactly the playbook that the Speaker of the House and the Democrat Leader had explicitly promised months ago in writing they would *not* use to sabotage appropriations," Mr. McConnell said on the Senate floor on Thursday.

Tucker: IG report is a problem for CNN, others – They are exposed as liars

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 06:00 AM PST

Thanks to the Department of Justice IG report -- the one released on Monday -- we now know for certain what was, for those paying attention, fairly obvious for a long time -- in fact, from the beginning. We now know the Steele dossier played a central role in the genesis of the beginning of the Russia hoax.

The dossier was used to justify extensive spying on an innocent American citizen; that would be former naval officer and Annapolis graduate, Carter Page. The top two leaders at the FBI were closely involved in the decision to do this. Other powerful people, including a former director of the CIA, knew it was happening and then lied to cover it up later. All of that was confirmed Monday by the IG's report.

The report was a disaster for the credibility of our bureaucratic class in Washington. But it's also a big, big problem for the American news media. They were exposed as liars and know-nothings as well.

We could you a million examples of this, but we're going to give you just a few because they paint the picture...

The aim of the club, according to First Liberty Institute, is to offer "faith-based support" during biweekly student-initiated meetings where students have "discussions about living for God in a godless society."

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) says he is not opposed to counties declaring Second Amendment Sanctuary status but he vows "consequences" if those counties refuse to enforce gun control.

On December 10, 2019, Breitbart News reported CNN's tally of over 40 counties that have declared Second Amendment Sanctuary status. And on December 12, 2019, Breitbart News reported that more than 1,000 residents attended the Chesapeake City Council meeting and cheered at that city declared it will defend Second Amendment rights.

The Associated Press reports the number of Second Amendment declarations sits at above 50, if one counts cities and counties together.

These declarations are all part of an effort for cities and counties to get out in front of Democrats' assumption power in January, at which time they expected to pass numerous new gun controls.

Trump team rips tech giants for 'voter suppression'

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST

President Trump's campaign lit into tech giants on Thursday for "voter suppression" and policies that cut them off from hardcore supporters.

Campaign manager Brad Parscale told reporters in Virginia that he knew immediately after the 2016 election that changes would be made to prevent a repeat in 2020.

Mr. Parscale said he told senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner at the time that Silicon Valley would "start systematically trying to destroy everything we did in 2016."

"They have a culture within their companies and a bias within their companies — I don't even think this is as much for the general public as it is to keep control of their own companies because they're places that are so liberal, they're so progressive, that they even think giving us an opportunity to talk to our voters is something they need to stop because it's the virtuous, righteous thing to do at this point," he said, the Daily Caller reported.
