Caroline County Man Charged with Animal Cruelty Posted: 29 May 2016 04:31 PM PDT
Mervyn Jay Downes III, 21, of Ridgely, turned himself in late Friday night after officers searched his home and found evidence linking him to the two crimes earlier this spring. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Caroline District Court on July 5. On April 8, officers were called to the Adkins Arboretum in Tuckahoe State Park after two goats were found dead, their throats slit. On May 2, officers returned to the arboretum after another goat had been attacked, but survived the stabbing. Evidence collected at the scene eventually led investigators to Downes, who lives on a road abutting the park. In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Downes also was charged with three counts of malicious destruction of property, two counts of destroying an animal in a state park, two counts of having a weapon in a state park, two counts each of trespassing and being in a state park after hours. Officers also seized several weapons from his home. Downes was charged last December with multiple counts of illegal deer hunting and pleaded guilty in Queen Anne's District Court to one charge. He was given probation before judgment and fined $1,500, all of it suspended. He is on probation until Sept. 3. The maximum sentence for aggravated cruelty to animals is three years in prison and a fine of $5,000.

Veterans Memorials Damaged In Four States As Nation Marks Memorial Day Posted: 29 May 2016 02:00 PM PDT As Americans pause to remember those who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice veterans sites in four states have reportedly been vandalized and damaged. Veterans sites in Alabama, Kentucky, and Virginia were vandalized, some extensively, according to ABC News. A veterans memorial in Anniston, Ala., was also struck by vandals twice in the past month, the latest occurring days before the nation marks Memorial day, according to WVTM 13 News. The veterans memorial in Anniston's latest incident included flags placed for this year's Memorial Day celebration, which were ripped up and trashed. "This is hallowed ground to me, it always has been," Ken Rollins, with the state's Board of Veteran's Affairs, told WVTM. He was disgusted to find out the small American flags lining the park for Memorial Day were trashed. "The sticks were broken and placed in a pile. The flags were nowhere to be found," said Rollins. Gorilla killed after 4-year-old falls into zoo enclosure Posted: 29 May 2016 12:30 PM PDT A holiday weekend outing at Cincinnati's zoo turned doubly tragic Saturday when a 4-year-old boy was hospitalized after falling into a gorilla enclosure - and zoo workers had to kill the rare gorilla to protect the boy. Cincinnati police and emergency crews responded to a report of a child falling into the exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden at about 4 p.m. Saturday. Police confirmed the child was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center near the zoo, and was treated for serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. Cincinnati Zoo President Thane Maynard said the boy crawled through a barrier and fell an estimated 10 to 12 feet into the moat surrounding the habitat. He said the boy was not seriously injured by the fall. More

The incident occurred around 10:58 p.m. Saturday May 28, 2016 as Amber L. Petersheim, 26 of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, was operating a 2008 Nissan Xterra eastbound on Vines Creek Road (SR26) approximately 1 mile east of Dagsboro. Lucas M. Troopers Arrest Three in Organized Retail Crime Thefts Posted: 29 May 2016 10:43 AM PDT Rehoboth, DE – Troopers have arrested three people in connection with an organized retail theft operation. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Saturday May 28, 2016, after troopers were dispatched to the Marshalls store located at 4575 Coastal Highway for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Upon the troopers' arrival, three subjects were observed running from the store with a loss prevention employee giving chase. Troopers were able to detain the three suspects without further incident. The investigation revealed the three were removing security devices from clothing in the store and then concealing them in a backpack in which they also removed from the store's sales rack. Upon being placed into custody, the three, who were identified as Carlos A. Laguna, 39, Nestor R. Rozo, 35, and Neyger B. Rodriguez, 35, all from Astoria, New York, were searched and troopers located devices commonly used to defeat and remove the security devices. A vehicle the three were using was located in the parking lot of Marshalls, and upon looking inside, troopers observed what appeared to be several shopping bags with clothing. The vehicle was then towed to Troop 7 where a search warrant was obtained and while conducting the search, troopers recovered 119 articles of merchandise totaling more than $3,300.00 from nine different stores throughout the Rehoboth area (Marshalls, Target, TJ Max, Reebok Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger Outlet, Banana Republic Outlet, Guess Outlet, American Eagle Outlet, and the Ralph Lauren Outlet). The three men were transported back to Troop 7 where they were all charged with Possession of Shoplifting Tools, Organized Retail Theft, and Conspiracy 2nd, all felonies. Memorial Day: More Than Just A Three-Day Weekend Posted: 29 May 2016 06:00 AM PDT
A holiday to celebrate our victories and losses but also one to reflect on just what America means to us... In our times of high political correctness, it is not an outrageous thing to entertain, given Obama's 'almost' apology for Hiroshima speech, will our holidays honoring military become extinct? It is surprising that over the last seven years, this hasn't been entertained or discussed. Given the current president and his strong dislike for the founding values of America, it is quite surprising he hasn't tried to outlaw our cherished holidays like Memorial Day, which honors our soldiers whom have given their lives so we can continue to be a free nation.
This weekend, more so than probably any other year before, our military's history and sacrifice should be remembered and honored because without them, we would not be free. Additionally, in this pivotal election year, it's a time to reflect on a pertinent question regarding our country's tenuous future: Isn't it time we elected people who possess respect for those who have served and protected us rather than damning and apologizing for it? The choice is yours. How say you?
To my ancestors and all the men and women who fought, served and continue to serve in our armed forces to keep us free, I Thank You for your Service.

Sam Cogen and the state claims defamation and invasion of privacy. The Baltimore Sun obtained a copy of the suit, which claims Mosby and Cogen knowingly put forth a false statement of charges, and that statements made by Mosby at her May 1, 2015 press conference announcing the charges were also false. BREAKING: Will Baltimore Burn Tonight? Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Via ABC News: A judge found Baltimore police officer Edward Nero not guilty today on all four charges for his role in the events leading up to the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray. Nero, 30, had been charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office, all stemming from his actions during the initial stop and arrest of Gray, who suffered a catastrophic spinal injury while in police custody. Gray died one week later on April 19, 2015, and his death sparked days of violent protests in Baltimore. Because Nero opted for a bench trial, Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams decided his fate rather than a jury. During the case, prosecutors argued that Nero had no regard for Gray's safety and was reckless by ignoring policing rules when he failed to place a seat belt on Gray, who was placed on his stomach in shackles in the back of a police transport vehicle. Congressman Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, said he would like to see seat belts in every police van moving forward. This begs the question: will the radical leftists who invade Bernie Sanders rallies and march with Black Lives Matter tear what's left of decrepit Baltimore to the ground? What do you think? Baltimore Blames ‘White People’ After Cop Found Not Guilty In Freddie Gray Case Posted: 29 May 2016 05:01 AM PDT BALTIMORE, M.D. — Baltimore city residents expressed disappointment in response to the city circuit court Monday finding a police officer not guilty in connection to the death of Freddie Gray. Officer Edward Nero was charged with several misdemeanor offenses after Gray died April, 2015, in his custody. Baltimore Circuit Judge Barry Williams found Nero not guilty of all charges just over a year later. Residents were not surprised given what they saw as racial bias in the criminal justice system. "White people are turning a blind eye," resident Mumin Soweto told The Daily Caller News Foundation. "We're not the ones stirring up the racism." More
Update From Teen Injured At Stephen Decatur Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Well, as of today my boyfriend was discharged. I got to see him for a few minutes before he left and just that little moment of time meant everything. I'm so blessed, all of this love and support from people I know, and have never even met. I have troubles getting around to all the messages and posts about me, my dad's was shared over 1,000 times. I wish I could personally say thank you to each and everyone of those individuals. However, my sleep schedule may not allow that. The prayers are being answered by the minute, I could have not survived this accident, I could have needed surgery. But through Him, I can do anything. Through Him I will be better than ever. I am able to eat food with out getting sick, I am able to move my legs with more ease, and tomorrow I may even be able to walk. Orange Smoking Receptacles No More In Ocean City Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT OCEAN CITY — The bright orange barrels that served as the smoking receptacles on the beach from one end of Ocean City to the other last year have been replaced with low-key smaller receptacles mounted to posts in the designated areas, but the diminished presence does not mean Ocean City is any less serious about enforcing the ordinance that went into effect last year. Last year, the Mayor and Council adopted an ordinance banning smoking on the beach except for designated areas with proper receptacles for disregarding cigarette butts. The designated smoking areas are located on the beach at each street from the Inlet to the Delaware line with a few exceptions and smoking is only allowed within 15 feet of the designated areas. Last year, the designated smoking areas were marked with bright orange barrels, essentially 22-gallon receptacles located along the beach and 15 feet off the Boardwalk, where smoking is also prohibited. The orange cigarette butt receptacles shared space on the beach with the countless iconic blue trash barrels, which encouraged beachgoers to pick up after themselves, but also contributed to the clutter on the otherwise pristine strand. This year, on the eve of another Memorial Day weekend, the bright orange barrels have been replaced with smaller receptacles mounted on posts in the same areas as the original orange barrels. Community Partners Recognized at Annual Wicomico County Tourism Reception Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Salisbury, MD – Wicomico County's Tourism Division recognized its strongest partners during a reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 25 at the Wicomico County Visitor's Center. Held annually since 2000, the reception recognizes community members and businesses who have dedicated themselves to supporting tourism initiatives in Wicomico County. In fiscal year 2016, Wicomico County's tourism efforts have continued to grow. The division has sold or held 53 events, 7 of which were of regional or national caliber. These events generated over 35,000 hotel room nights, 132,000 visitors and an estimated economic impact of $53 million. This success would not be possible if it were not for tourism's many community partners. These partners help the County recruit new events, retain and grow current events and welcome event attendees into the community. 2016 tourism award recipients included: Hospitality Award: Joshua Sanders, General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn Although fairly new to Wicomico County, Sanders has embraced tourism's mission, becoming an active participant in all of tourism's events. When issues arise or tourism has a need, Sanders is a willing partner who is always ready to lend a helping hand. Business of the Year: Southern Boys Concepts (accepted by Todd Van Geluwe) With five restaurants in Wicomico County, Southern Boys Concepts embraces tourism and its initiatives. It is one of the first to jump on board when advertising opportunities are presented in our annual visitor's guide or special event programs. Partner of the Year: Bill Atkinson of Fruitland Baseball Atkinson is organizing over a dozen baseball tournaments in Wicomico County this year alone. It's estimated that these events will generate an economic impact exceeding $9 million. It’s Official, Bay Island Retreat Now Off Limits To People To Allow For Bird Nesting Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT OCEAN CITY — A sandy spit in the Isle of Wight Bay that became a focal point of sorts last summer in a skirmish between public access and habitat protection is officially off limits to recreational boaters with Memorial Day arriving this weekend after the island was turned over to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) earlier this month. When the federal Army Corps of Engineers dredged the navigation channels around the resort in 2015, roughly 400,000 cubic yards of sand and dredged material was dedicated to restoring some of the islands in the coastal bays that hadn't been seen since the 1930s, including a roughly four-acre spit now called Tern Island. Restoring the islands essentially accomplished the dual goals of finding a home for the dredged material while creating crucial habitat for endangered nesting colonial nesting birds in the coastal bays. However, a conflict of interest quickly arose last summer for the newly-created island. From the beginning, recreational boaters were drawn to the sandy spit in the Isle of Wight Bay and hundreds of boaters dropped anchor and waded ashore all summer, creating a weekend retreat for families and friends. Tern Island's legacy as a weekend boating hub was solidified last June when a small group of boaters waded ashore with an American flag and bags of concrete and raised Old Glory in a spontaneous act of patriotism. For the rest of the summer, the island was used extensively by recreational boaters for cookouts, horseshoe games and other summer activities, but it was widely believed its days as a weekend retreat were likely numbered. That came to fruition on May 9 when the state's Board of Public Works formally conveyed Tern Island to the DNR as part of the Sinepuxent Wildlife Management Area. As a result, Tern Island is now officially closed to the public from April 1 to Sept. 15, when the colonial migratory birds are nesting. Essentially the closure dates coincide with the height of the recreational boating season in the resort. The island and other similarly protected islands in the coastal bays are now posted with signs along the shoreline alerting boaters the areas are off limits. More
NOT a joke: Look how many GENDERS New York City now officially recognizes Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Good news: Bill de Blasio has finally enlightened us all on how many genders there are. As Robert Gehl of The Federalist Papers writes; Baskin Robbins ain't got nothing on New York City. The ice cream shop boasts 31 flavors, but New York City's got 31 genders. As part of its non-discrimination policy, the city's Commission on Human Rights released a list of different genders that businesses must accommodate or risk a six-figure fine, The Daily Caller isreporting. Along with the package comes the requirement that you identify someone using their preferred pronouns. Among these include pronouns such as "ze, xir, xem, hir," and literally thousands others. Use the wrong pronoun and you could up poop creek without a paddle. So you're probably wondering what these 31 different genders are – and not surprisingly, 29 of them have never appeared on a birth certificate before. Here's the list.

Trump Protesters Riot in New Mexico Last Night Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Protesters lit fires, smashed a door and threw rocks outside a Donald Trump rally Tuesday night in New Mexico -- the latest scuffle to follow the presumptive Republican nominee's campaign. The scene outside Albuquerque's convention center was chaotic as police ushered protesters away from Trump's event and into the nearby streets. There, anti-Trump protesters -- many critical of his positions on immigration -- loudly chanted, "F*** Donald Trump." The protesters had broken a glass door to the convention center. A Viewer Writes: Wicomico County Partnership With Under Armour Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Just read on the daily disappointment or daily times about the board of education making an uneducated partnership with under armour for ALL of the county schools athletics. (feel free to use) First when does a county dictate a uniform brand to every school? What if a school wants nike or warrior etc.? Anyway the county made a deal with a sporting goods dealer to sell under armour into the schools. The Sporting goods dealer and their owner was convicted of embezzlement and price fixing of athletic bids down in Virginia a few years ago. The owner price fixed school bids in order to win sports uniform businesses and got caught by the feds. There was a lot of radio, internet and newspaper coverage of the embezzling and how they made fake bids and over charged schools for additional fake charges to iron on numbers on jersey's and passed the charges onto unsuspecting parents. I know you have juice and reach to people and like to uncover how government make bad deals with crooks. This is one. Roll with it if you want, I'm sure someone will bring it up eventually once a school or a coach actually does a background check on who the school board is doing business with good or bad. Thanks for listening. Here is a simple link: one of many as this case made the news, the papers, talk radio. Team Distributors Couldn't sell a sock on the Western shore and Virginia and had taking advantage of Wico in my simple opinion. https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdva/pr/athletic-director-two-others-plead-guilty-embezzlement Roll with it if you want', I'll send the message to the daily times eventually but like your website better and thought you could run with it. Shame on Wicomico County
Home Depot Issues Response To Hat Controversy – Does THIS To The Employee Posted: 29 May 2016 05:01 AM PDT One Home Depot employee decided to make a political statement at work by wearing a hat with the words "America was never great", which set off a firestorm of controversy. But Home Depot responded quickly by banning her from wearing the hat again. From the Daily Mail: Home Depot has banned a worker from wearing a hat emblazoned with the words 'America was never great' after legions of Donald Trump supporters complained. Krystal Lake, 22, wore a white cap carrying the slogan to work at a Home Depot store in Staten Island, New York, this week. A picture of her wearing the hat went viral and split Twitter and Facebook, with some calling her unpatriotic but others defending her right to free speech. Miss Lake says she has received a barrage of racist abuse and death threats, but insists she will not stop wearing the cap. The Home Depot worker and City University of New York student told the Staten Island Advance that she took inspiration from Trump's signature 'Make America Great Again' hats. 'I feel [the 'America was never great' hat] offended a lot of people because a lot of Trump supporters live in Staten Island,' she said. 'Trump is very rash and in your face, but when someone else has a message against him, his supporters can't take the criticisms.' Miss Lake, who is a Bernie Sanders supporter, added that her message is not unpatriotic but that she wants the U.S. to improve. 'People have been saying really racist things to me and that they're going to come and find me, and that what I said is disgraceful and I hate America – but I don't hate America. 'I know there are a lot of opportunities here. I just wish we would worry about making America better – not "great again". 'The point of the hat was to say America needs changing and improvement. I don't think it's a positive message to say, "Let's look to the past".' More
Woman Who Wore ‘America Was Never Great’ Hat Speaks Out On The Backlash, Proves Her Ignorance Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Krystal Lake decided it would be an awesome idea to wear a hat to work at Home Depot to make a political statement and all hell broke loose. The hat says, "America Was Never Great." It was meant to be a slap at Donald Trump… she's a Bernie Sanders zombie. People were massively offended and Home Depot told her it was against the rules to wear such a hat at work. She won't wear it to work again, but will keep wearing it in public. The free America that she hates so much, gives her the right to do that. I don't like Trump either, but I equally despise Sanders. Politics aside, it is wholly inappropriate to don a hat saying such an inflammatory thing at work. And… she still doesn't get it. From Staten Island Live: STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Home Depot worker Krystal Lake, whose controversial anti-Trump hat took over the internet this week, says she won't be donning the cap to work again. "I won't be wearing the hat inside Home Depot anymore," Lake told the Advance Friday, "but I'm definitely going to be wearing it in public — 100 percent." Lake, who plans to go back to work next week, says she is "shocked all of this is happening over her hat." Home Depot told the Advance that the hat violates the store's policy, which prohibits employees from wearing "items that reflect political statements." "No one on our management team saw her wearing the hat — otherwise, they would have had her remove it immediately." More

Primed to fight the government Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT A fast-growing U.S. movement armed with guns and the Constitution sees a dire threat to liberty REDMOND, Ore. — B.J. Soper took aim with his AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and fired a dozen shots at a human silhouette target. Soper's wife and their 16-year-old daughter practiced drawing pistols. Then Soper helped his 4-year-old daughter, in pink sneakers and a ponytail, work on her marksmanship with a .22-caliber rifle.Deep in the heart of a vast U.S. military training ground, surrounded by spent shotgun shells and juniper trees blasted to shreds, the Central Oregon Constitutional Guard was conducting its weekly firearms training. "The intent is to be able to work together and defend ourselves if we need to," said Soper, 40, a building contractor who is an emerging leader in a growing national movement rooted in distrust of the federal government, one that increasingly finds itself in armed conflicts with authorities. Those in the movement call themselves patriots, demanding that the federal government adhere to the Constitution and stop what they see as systematic abuse of land rights, gun rights, freedom of speech and other liberties. Hersheypark visitors can use the bathrooms they gender-identify with Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT Hersheypark will allow transgender visitors and employees to use the bathrooms they gender-identify with as state governments debate the issue nationwide. The Sweetest Place on Earth said in a statement Friday that Hersheypark visitors and employees will be able to use the restrooms that match the gender they identify with or use the family restroom. The announcement comes amid a national debate on whether or not to allow transgender people to use the bathrooms of their choice. Hersheypark spokeswoman Kathy Burrows said the policy is a continuation of what has already been in place at the park. "For decades, Hersheypark has been dedicated to the safety and security of our guest and employees. It is foundational to our brand," Burrows said in a prepared statement. More
Posted: 29 May 2016 05:00 AM PDT By Thornton Crowe Over the last few months, the transgender bathroom situation has reached an all time level pitch. Why has this even become an issue considering the transgender population counts for about .3% of the overall population? It does make sense if you look at it within the grand scheme. What a better way to your eyes off all the ways the government is really doing to usurp the Constitution everyday. They're working hard to endanger our Rights as guaranteed by the ruling document of our land. Furthermore, our legislators are perpetrating one of the biggest frauds in the history of mankind under the guise of 'clean, healthy living.' Last week, California has practically dismantled it's citizens' rights to bear arms. Mind you, the law only serves to protect criminals as they will never go unarmed. Now, average citizens are denied the right to carry or even own them. Another big California unconstitutional move was to give licenses and de facto voting rights to illegal aliens. Yes, Gov. Brown (D) made it possible for people to skirt the Constitution mandate that clearly states you need to be a US citizen in order to vote. He has given cart blanche to criminals entering illegally to obtain a valid driver's licenses. The off-shoot is they also get to vote in state and federal elections even though they are not eligible. There is no way to separate them or flags of their ineligibility to California Board of Elections. Furthermore, just because California illegal aliens have driver's licenses, it by no means they will obey driving laws or car insurance. It's been a long-standing problem where illegals get away with denting innocent people's cars without having to make that victim whole. Much like driving around the diplomat circle in DC, they seldom are never held accountable to either law enforcement or the victims. Why is this important to you? Let's go back to 1998. Remember when a lot of people made a big deal about this smoking ban all public places -- both inside and outside -- in California and they said it was a violation of a person's right to choose whether or not to smoke even in outdoor spaces? The detractors were the minority and we all thought they were just being selfish jerks who wanted to make our kids sick. Remember? The big smoking ban provided a massive slippery slope to the thought and behavior police who sought to eradicate personal rights under the guise of it being for the greater good. Using California as an example for seeing just how much they extort the public into compliance, the anti-smoking ban spread throughout America in record time. So what does this mean for Gun Control and Voting Eligibility? Well, unless the some brave Californian dares to step up and sue the state, it may continue to grow like a virus throughout America. Which brings us back to transgender -- while we're boycotting Target and the mainstream media keeps our eyes on bathrooms, all this is going on behind the smoke and mirrors! Once again, like a petulant child testing his parents' resolve, government is testing just how much they can bully people into giving up more of their freedoms for a non-existent cause made into a mountain. Perhaps it's time we as a nation come together and vote the nonsense out once and for all. Hence, stop voting for people based on the D or R behind their name and start voting for ourselves and our Constitution. Ideological Right and Left have become married in the establishment way. There really is no division when it comes to establishment folks as they both support the same PC-madness that is taking a wrecking ball to America and assaulting everything we used to hold dear in the American Dream. Coming to Maryland...! Don't you think it's time we got back to some semblance of normalcy or has this loony liberal society become the new normal forever? The choice is up to you. How say you?
