MARCHING BANDS TAKE FIELD SATURDAY, OCT. 12 IN 2019 DELMARVACADE OF BANDS Posted: 07 Oct 2019 08:30 PM PDT Lights, music, marching! One of the most exciting and uplifting nights of the marching band season is coming up Saturday, Oct. 12, when Parkside High School and the Parkside Band Boosters present the 2019 Delmarvacade of Bands at Wicomico County Stadium. High school marching bands from throughout the region will fill Wicomico County Stadium that night with the sights and sounds of their field shows as bands tune up for championship events. (Makeup day is Oct. 13, if needed due to weather.) This is the only local chance all season to see the marching bands of James M. Bennett High, Wicomico High and Parkside High perform their shows on the same field, in Group 3-Open. Between bands, parents, and spectators, the Delmarvacade of Bands is expected to draw several thousand people to the stadium. Bands will compete starting at 5 p.m., with each band performing the kind of field show people are accustomed to seeing at halftime of football games. Each performance will last seven to 12 minutes. The event is sponsored by Parkside High School and its Band Boosters. It will be adjudicated by professional judges of the National Judges Association. Bands will be judged on every aspect of their field show, including both musical and visual elements, individual and group elements, as well as the overall general effect of the show. Each band will receive a score based on a 100-point scale, and a trophy. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the night. Bands will compete in four size categories, depending on the number of instrumentalists in the band. This year, for the first time, James M. Bennett, Wicomico High and Parkside High are all in Group 3-Open. That night, JMB will compete at 6:15 p.m. and WiHi will take the field at 6:30 p.m., competing for placement in the competition. Parkside will perform last that evening (6:45 p.m.), in exhibition. (Delmarvacade of Bands host Parkside will not compete for placement, but will perform for a Tournament of Bands score.) Marching bands stay all evening, even after they have competed. Bands know they are competing not just against each other, but against their own previous performances. Every band will be trying to make this field show just a little bit better than its last. The awards ceremony will be at 7:15 p.m. Admission to Delmarvacade of Bands is $8. A program detailing the participants, with a score sheet to keep track of how the bands are doing, is $5. For information please contact Parkside High Marching Band at 410-677-5161. |
How to Quit Porn For Good | The Art of Manliness Posted: 07 Oct 2019 08:00 PM PDT This article series is now available as a professionally formatted, distraction free paperback or ebook to read offline at your leisure. This article was originally published in October 2014. We've updated it with new resources. If you're reading this post, you or someone you know is trying to quit porn and are looking for some help in doing so. Here's the good news: in the vast majority of cases, you don't need expensive rehabs or retreats to rid your life of porn. As I mentioned in a previous, in reading a boatload of books and countless blog and forum postings on "porn addiction recovery," I discovered that most of the advice given is the exact same advice therapists and cognitive psychologists offer to someone who's trying to change a bad habit as innocuous as swearing or fingernail biting. Sure, there are a few differences, but overall, quitting porn is just like quitting pretty much any other bad habit. An important thing to keep in mind with changing any habit — be it smoking, drinking soda, or using porn — is that there's no magic bullet. Habit change takes time, discipline, and dedication, and the process will look a little different for each individual. More |

Attorney for Impeachment ‘Whistleblowers’ Actively Sought Anti-Trump Informants Posted: 07 Oct 2019 07:00 PM PDT Mark Zaid, the activist attorney representing the so-called whistleblower at the center of the impeachment movement targeting President Donald Trump, says he is representing a second so-called whistleblower who spoke to the Intelligence Community's inspector general about Trump's phone call with the Ukrainian president. Missing from the avalanche of news media coverage about Zaid's two anonymous clients rocking the nation's capital is this-- at the beginning of Trump's presidency Zaid co-founded 'Whistleblower Aid,' a small nonprofit that blasted advertisements around D.C. actively seeking whistleblowers during the Trump administration. 'Whistleblower Aid' is heavily tied to far-left activist organizations and Democrat politics. ABC News broke the story on Sunday about the existence of the second so-called whistleblower speaking about Trump's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump Supporters Plan Massive March in D.C. – Mr. President We Have Your Back Posted: 07 Oct 2019 06:00 PM PDT The impeachment effort against President Donald Trump may be popular among Democrats but it has also energized his supporters, including thousands of women who plan to show up at the nation's capital on October 17 for the March for Trump. "We are coming to Washington to support our president — to stand with him through this impeachment charade," Amy Kremer, Tea Party activist and founder of Women for America First, the organization behind the march, said on SiriusXM's Breitbart News Saturday with host Matt Boyle. "[Democrats are] trying to subvert the will of the people and overturn the vote and people are as mad as hell about it," Kremer said, adding, "It absolutely is a partisan witch hunt and the American people can see right through it." And Trump's supporters are taking the effort to remove a duly elected president through a political impeachment process personally. More |

Global Warming: Britain Braces for ‘Coldest Winter in 30 Years’ Posted: 07 Oct 2019 03:30 PM PDT Researchers from University College London are forecasting an average temperature in the UK of just 3.9ºC (39ºF) for January to February in what is expected to be "the coldest weather in 30 years." Yahoo News reported Saturday that temperatures in Great Britain could reach as low as -14C with "snow event after snow event" expected to hit various parts of the territory. Forecasters expect the lasting cold spell to begin sometime this month and to continue at least through March. "October is now looking like it will turn out to be colder than average with more of a chance of something wintery setting in through the second half of the month," according to Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden. "There is a strong chance of widespread frosts and the chance of snowfall which will set the scene for November," Madden said. ""This will pave the way for what is shaping up to be a colder than average winter with some extreme cold weather events." More |
Ex-British Spy’s Obama State Department Contacts Avoid Scrutiny Posted: 07 Oct 2019 03:00 PM PDT Officials in the Obama State Department in 2016 actively worked with a British intelligence operative, Christopher Steele, to disseminate and investigate allegations against Donald Trump and his presidential campaign. That operation bears at least some similarity to a saga unfolding in the Trump State Department involving Rudy Giuliani, the Trump personal lawyer and former New York mayor who worked with State officials to set up meetings with the Ukrainian government in order to press for an investigation related to Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. In both cases, the two operatives—Giuliani and Steele—worked closely with the State Department for help with politically motivated investigations. But the responses to the investigations could not be more stark, both in terms of how the media has covered the stories, and how lawmakers have pressured Foggy Bottom to help with oversight investigations. Ukraine Whistleblower’s Lead Attorney Donated to Biden Posted: 07 Oct 2019 02:00 PM PDT The lead counsel representing the Ukraine whistleblower donated to Joe Biden's presidential campaign earlier this year, records show. Andrew Bakaj, founder and managing partner of D.C.-based law firm Compass Rose Legal Group, is the lead counsel working on behalf of the Ukraine whistleblower. Bakaj earmarked a $100 donation on April 26 through ActBlue, a fundraising nonprofit that helps facilitate contributions for Democrats, to Biden's presidential campaign, the Federal Election Commission's website shows. Biden appears to be the only recipient of campaign cash from Bakaj this year. The whistleblower, whose identity remains unknown, approached the intelligence community's inspector general about President Donald Trump's phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. The IG in turn approached House Democrats, who announced an impeachment inquiry. Trump acknowledged discussing Biden's potential links to corruption in Ukraine during the conversation, but denied pressuring Zelensky. Attorney Mark Zaid is acting as co-counsel for the whistleblower. Zaid and Bakaj are both involved with Whistleblower Aid, a nonpartisan legal nonprofit launched in 2017 to help federal employees coming forward with information about wrongdoing navigate legal avenues. John Tye, a former government whistleblower at the U.S. Department of State, co-founded Whistleblower Aid and is listed as its governor in D.C. incorporation papers. Tye previously worked at the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, known for its "hate group" designations, and Avaaz, a liberal organization that pushes global activism on climate change. In 2016, an unemployed John Tye donated $2,700 to Hillary for America. More |

Docs Show Rosenstein Advising Mueller ‘the Boss’ Doesn’t Know About Their Communications Posted: 07 Oct 2019 01:30 PM PDT Judicial Watch released 145 pages of Rod Rosenstein's communications that include a one-line email from Rod Rosenstein to Robert Mueller stating, "The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions" and "off the record" emails with major media outlets around the date of Mueller's appointment. Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit after the DOJ failed to respond to a September 21, 2018, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The time period referred to in this suit is critical. On May 9, 2017, Rosenstein wrote a memo to President Trump recommending that FBI Director James Comey be fired. That day, President Trump fired Comey. Just three days later, on May 12, Rosenstein sent an email assuring Robert Mueller that "The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions." In a May 16, 2017 email, sent the day before Mueller's appointment, Rosenstein emailed former Bush administration Deputy Attorney General and current Kirkland & Ellis Partner, Mark Filip stating, "I am with Mueller. He shares my views. Duty Calls. Sometimes the moment chooses us." And on May 17 Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Also, during the same time period, between May 8 and May 17, Rosenstein met with then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other senior Justice Department FBI officials to discuss wearing a wire and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump. The documents also show that, again during the same time period, Rod Rosenstein was in direct communication with reporters from 60 Minutes, The New York Times and The Washington Post. More here |
‘She guards it pretty closely’ Posted: 07 Oct 2019 01:00 PM PDT Judicial Watch recently announced that the State Department has provided a previously hidden email which shows that top State Department officials used and were aware of Hillary Clinton's email account. On December 24, 2010, Daniel Baer, an Obama State Department deputy assistant secretary of state, writes to Michael Posner, a then-assistant secretary of state about Clinton's private email address: Baer: "Be careful, you just gave the secretary's personal email address to a bunch of folks …" Posner answers: "Should I say don't forward? Did not notice" Baer responds: "Yeah-I just know that she guards it pretty closely" Mr. Posner had forwarded Clinton's email address, which was contained in an email sent to State Department senior leadership, about WikiLeaks. It appears the State Department produced this email in 2016 in redacted form, blacking out Clinton's personal email address and the discussion about Clinton's wanting to keep her email address closely guarded. Democratic Thought Leader Praises ‘Moral Compunction’ of Red China Posted: 07 Oct 2019 11:30 AM PDT Center for American Progress president Neera Tanden had some kind words for the leaders of Red China on Friday, praising the communist regime for its "moral compunction" in standing up to President Donald Trump. In response to Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi's apparently reliable assertion that "China will not interfere in the internal affairs of the US," as reported in an apparently reliable Chinese newspaper, Tanden wrote: "This is so humiliating- that we have a president willing to cheat but China has enough moral compunction not to help him." Perhaps the Chinese foreign minister can be taken at his word. Or perhaps not, given China's relentless past efforts to "interfere" in U.S. affairs through cyber warfare during the Obama administration, the admission of which was also humiliating for the United States. Tanden, a former close aide to Hillary Clinton who was in line to become White House chief of staff before Clinton suffered one of the most embarrassing political defeats in American history, was a recurring character in the hacked emails published by Wikileaks. ANALYSIS: Slipping in polls, Kamala Harris scrambles for winning message Posted: 07 Oct 2019 10:00 AM PDT After a summer of steadily declining in the polls and fundraising growing stagnant, Kamala Harris is trying to project strength as she tries to get her footing back in the 2020 Democratic presidential race. The California senator and her campaign staff continue to tell reporters that she remains in the top-tier of presidential candidates, though polls repeatedly show her in fifth place, far behind Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Joe Biden. She also lags South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg in fundraising and polls. "Of course I'm part of that top tier, and we all know that," Harris said last month in New Hampshire. More |
Posted: 07 Oct 2019 09:45 AM PDT Judicial Watch has announced that a federal judge enjoined a California law requiring presidential candidates to publicly disclose their tax returns. The injunction had been requested by Judicial Watch, President Trump, and other challengers to the law. California's Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act ("SB 27") requires presidential candidates to disclose their tax returns for the past five years for public posting on the internet. Candidates who refuse to do so are barred from having their names printed on California's March 2020 primary ballot. Judicial Watch's lawsuit challenged the law on behalf of four California voters, including two Republicans, a Democrat, and an Independent. The lawsuit alleged that SB 27 imposes candidate qualifications beyond those allowed by the U.S. Constitution's Presidential Qualifications Clause and that it violates voters' First and Fourteenth Amendment rights to associate with like-minded voters and to express their preferences by means of their votes. MSNBC guest outlines plan to impeach Trump and make Nancy Pelosi president Posted: 07 Oct 2019 09:30 AM PDT MSNBC contributor and former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks presented a way to remove President Trump from office and pave the way for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to assume the Oval Office: impeach Vice President Mike Pence first and offer the president a deal. Joining the network's AM Joy on Saturday, Wine-Banks was asked if Congress should look to impeach Trump first or turn their eyes to Pence instead. In response, she suggested going after Pence first and giving Trump the option to either replace him before being impeached himself — so that a Republican can remain in the White House — or decline and let Pelosi take over. "You could impeach Pence first," Wine-Banks stated. "The problem is that Donald Trump then has to name his replacement. But I think that maybe a deal could be struck where he was told, 'If you don't make a replacement, then Nancy Pelosi does become president. And so, you are going to be impeached and convicted. You need to make this replacement so that the proper party remains in power.'" More/Video |
'It's pathetic': Giuliani shushes Fox host during live interview Posted: 07 Oct 2019 09:15 AM PDT Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani shushed Fox News host Howard Kurtz during a live interview. President Trump's personal attorney appeared Sunday on Kurtz's program Media Buzz to defend himself and the president for asking Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to look at Joe Biden's operations in the country during his time as vice president. Kurtz pressed Giuliani on the veracity of the former mayor's charges against Biden and his son, Hunter, and also questioned Giuliani's defense of Trump. Giuliani said that he does not want the Bidens considered guilty based off of his contentions, but he wants an investigation into Hunter Biden's role in an Ukrainian energy company, as well as the former vice president's intentions for pushing Ukraine to fire its former chief prosecutor. Key witness in Amber Guyger murder trial shot dead in Dallas Posted: 07 Oct 2019 09:00 AM PDT A witness who testified in the murder trial that led to the conviction of former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger for the death of Botham Jean was shot dead in his apartment complex parking lot. Joshua Brown, 28, a neighbor of both Jean, 26, and Guyger, 31, provided key testimony as one of the few witnesses that came forward to speak about what he saw and heard the evening Jean was killed. Brown spoke tearfully on the witness stand about Jean, who he said could often be heard singing gospel music from his apartment. He told jurors during the trial that he heard a commotion and two shots fired the night that Guyger killed Jean. Brown was reportedly gunned down Friday night by an unknown assailant or assailants, in the same apartment complex where Jean was shot. Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased, because he was not carrying identification, but attorney S. Lee Merritt said Brown was the man who was killed. More |

Robert De Niro sued for 'verbally abusive' and 'sexually-charged' behavior Posted: 07 Oct 2019 08:00 AM PDT Robert De Niro subjected his former assistant to "verbally abusive" and "sexually-charged" behavior, including leaving her voicemails filled with vulgar language, a new lawsuit alleges. "Robert De Niro is someone who has clung to old mores," the lawsuit, filed by Graham Chase Robinson, said. "He does not accept the idea that men should treat women as equals. He does not care that gender discrimination in the workplace violates the law." According to her lawsuit, Robinson began working for De Niro at his company, Canal Productions, in 2008 when she was 25 and was subjected to "years of gender discrimination and harassment." More |
Staffer Nervously Informs Hillary Clinton She Lost 2016 Election Posted: 07 Oct 2019 07:30 AM PDT WASHINGTON, D.C.—After Hillary Clinton once again suggested that Donald Trump was an illegitimate president, one unfortunate staffer was forced to be the one to gently inform her that she lost the election. "Hey, Hill, we need to talk," the aide said, her voice shaky and uncertain. "We've got to discuss something of some importance. We're all a little worried about you, and we just need to make sure you realize something about the election from a few years ago." "We don't have time. We need to keep campaigning in swing states like New York and California," Clinton declared, checking her watch. "We'll beat that Trump yet!" Continue with Satire |

Immigration splits small Maryland town, leading to dueling protests Posted: 07 Oct 2019 07:00 AM PDT FREDERICK — On a wet Sunday afternoon, two distinctly different scenes played out on the brick-paved sidewalks of this historic county seat — both tinged, and in some moments, dominated, by the rhetoric of Washington politics. Locals joined with visitors from the nation's capital and its closer-in suburbs to stage dueling rallies for and against Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins (R), who was recently sued for allegedly racially profiling a Latina grandmother and criticized for canceling a public meeting on his department's partnership with federal immigration agents — a program known as 287(g). About 200 opponents of the sheriff's actions gathered with homemade pupusas, a mariachi band and a Democratic congressman who offered aphorisms from the Founding Fathers. A few blocks away, a similar number of Jenkins supporters hoisted American flags of every size and offered booming chants of "USA! USA! USA!" More |
OC businesses give thumbs down to H2Oi ‘bad apples’ Posted: 07 Oct 2019 06:45 AM PDT While some business owners did see increased profits during the unsanctioned H2Oi weekend, several agreed that the money was not worth the trouble. "Business in town was definitely impacted, yet it was a terrible waste of manpower and money," Fish Tales restaurant owner Shawn Harman said. "... If you want to look at it as a strict monetary thing, it's not worth the hassle." Car enthusiasts seemed especially fond of gas stations, and crowds of participants could be seen loitering in gas station parking lots. Council President Lloyd Martin, who owns 7-Eleven gas stations uptown, said his businesses saw increased profits, but avoided rowdier groups as much of the action took place downtown. More |
Brennan: US 'no longer a democracy' under 'autocrat' Trump Posted: 07 Oct 2019 06:30 AM PDT Former CIA Director John Brennan declared that the United States is "no longer a democracy" under the leadership of President Trump. Brennan, who has been sharply critical of Trump since leaving office in January of 2017, appeared Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press with Chuck Todd to give analysis on the current state of intelligence affairs as the House of Representatives launches an impeachment inquiry into the president. Asked to assess the U.S. as he would a foreign government from the perspective of the CIA, Brennan said, "We would look at it as a very corrupt government that is under the sway right now of this powerful individual, who has been able to just corrupt the institutions and the laws of that country." 'Hundreds' of young trans people seeking help to return to original sex Posted: 07 Oct 2019 06:15 AM PDT Hundreds of young transgender people are seeking help to return to their original sex, a woman who is setting up a charity has told Sky News. Charlie Evans, 28, was born female but identified as male for nearly 10 years before de-transitioning. The number of young people seeking gender transition is at an all-time high but we hear very little, if anything, about those who may come to regret their decision. There is currently no data to reflect the number who may be unhappy in their new gender or who may opt to de-transition to their biological sex. Charlie de-transitioned and went public with her story last year - and said she was stunned by the number of people she discovered in a similar position. "I'm in communication with 19 and 20-year-olds who have had full gender reassignment surgery who wish they hadn't, and their dysphoria hasn't been relieved, they don't feel better for it," she says. "They don't know what their options are now." More |
We Must Fight the Sexualization of Children by Adults Posted: 07 Oct 2019 06:00 AM PDT Childhood used to be a time of innocence. But as our culture has become more and more sexualized, children have become the casualties of adult exploitation. The New York Times just reported that more than 45 million online photos and videos of children being sexually abused were reported by tech companies, more than double what they found the previous year. In culture, education, and health care, American children also are increasingly targeted for sexual messages, images, and themes at younger ages. Sometimes, this is even supported by taxpayer money through government-led initiatives. Our culture is saturated with sexual content that was once considered too risqué for children, and social media has accelerated the spread of pornography to young viewers. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that in the United States, 42% of children between 10 and 17 have viewed pornography online. Social media also has become prime hunting ground for sex traffickers. In March 2019, Instagram was reportedly the leading social media platform for child grooming by sexual predators. A recent poll of 2,000 teens found that nearly 75% had received pornographic direct messages from strangers, even if they had a private account. And 55% of victims of sex trafficking in 2015 met their abuser through a website, app, or text. The sexualization of children is occurring in brick-and-mortar spaces too as "drag queen story hours," in which cross-dressing adult entertainers interact with children in taxpayer-funded local libraries, have appeared across the country.
