A Comment Worthy Of A Post 10-10-19 Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT Anonymous said... I taught in Wicomico County for 8 years and left due to the lack of support from admin. A student in my class tried to turn in field trip money the day of our trip, after having a month and a half to turn it in, and I told him no. He became so mad that he told me he was going to stab me in my pregnant stomach and kill my baby. He threw chairs at me, cussed, and stormed out the room looking for a knife. He was only taken out of my room after a few days because I requested a threat assessment where they determined he was indeed a threat to my safety. But he wasn't punished because he refused to go to ISS (which they only assigned him a half day of because who really cares about a student who threatened to murder me and my baby right?) and nobody did anything. Admin also ignored my request to move him out of my group during a back to school night the week after the knife incident so I was left in the same room with him that night. His mother complained that I was going to deny him the right to go on the field trip and they actually let him go anyway. My teammate's classroom was destroyed by a student and my teammate had to clean it up instead of the student. A student walked out of my co-teacher's classroom after tearing things off her wall on a daily basis and nothing was done. Another student roamed the halls, ran in classrooms and spit on teacher desks, and PEED IN THE HALLWAY and since the mother threatened to sue if anyone touched her son all admin did was follow him around all day . ADMINISTRATION WAS USELESS!! My new school in a different state has a contract both parents and students must sign and students are booted from the school if they do not behave. I was about to quit teaching and am so thankful I gave it one more shot somewhere new. They have got to bring back consequences and demanding respect. Wicomico County is a joke. What Can YOU Do About Violence At Our Local Schools Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT For so many years your local media covered up the violence at local schools. While I was black balled by the BOE for so many years because I was the only one willing to stick my neck out and expose just how horrific things had become, I was put aside. However, as SBYNews grew your local media had no choice but to start exposing it. This was my entire goal with SBYNews, change the way things were reported locally. Today our sources have grown to the point we get information in real time and we are able to get it out there so the public is aware. However, many of you are misinformed by pointing fingers in the wrong direction. Jake Day and Bob Culver can do NOTHING about the BOE. They, (the BOE) are autonomous. The only thing they can do is stop any additional funding above and beyond maintenance of effort. That's it! What YOU can do is start attending BOE meetings and voice your concerns and demands. YOU need to hold these leaders accountable and demand immediate action. These kids are young and impressionable. Fights are one thing but each and every one of you need to think, what's next? Until examples are made, something bad is coming to your schools and that includes teachers getting hurt. If a teacher speaks out they will be retaliated against by the administration. Remember the old phrase, "Only You Can Prevent Fires"? Well, only YOU can stop the violence. You can't expect this Site to change everything. It takes a community and for crying out loud you need to get off your rear ends and do something about it before something really bad happens. The time is NOW!

Cory Booker Warns Trump: 'If You Come After Joe Biden, You're Going to Have to Deal with Me' Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT Presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) said if President Trump continues his attacks against former Vice President Joe Biden with regards to Ukraine, he is going to have to go through him. Trump has accused Biden of trying to stop an investigation into the Ukrainian gas company where his son, Hunter, was a board member. "Senator, if the overwhelming issue is President Trump must be defeated, do you feel you and other Democrats must be doing more to speak in one voice that Joe Biden's family is off-limits?" CNN anchor Ana Cabrera asked on Sunday. More
Maryland panel votes to remove Confederate flag on plaque Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT Over the objections of Maryland House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones, the State House Trust has decided to amend, but not discard, a plaque that pays tribute to both Union and Confederate soldiers who served and died in the Civil War. In one of her first actions after becoming speaker in May, Jones proposed removing the plaque at the State House because, she said, its authors sought to avoid what is history: "that there was a right side and a wrong side in the Civil War." Jones called it the "last Confederate vestige" at the State House and said the plaque "does not seek to correctly document history, but instead sympathizes with Confederate motivations and memorializes Confederate soldiers." What Happened At Salisbury Middle School Today? 10-10-19 Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:01 AM PDT Have you heard anything about what's going on at Salisbury Middle School? I hear there's been five or six fights today and the kids have been on lock down since before lunch. No one is allowed to move and the cops of been in and out of the school all day. Apparently there's more cops on the way now with sirens on. They were talking about a bomb threat, but with so many fights, no one knows if that is related- or sadly, just a normal amount of fighting in that zoo. Just wanted to know if you heard anything because I've got a kid over there and they're not telling him anything either – just to sit down and be quiet And not to move. There has been absolutely no instruction all day. They have not gone about their normal class rotation. They have been in the same classroom most of the day, not learning.

Prince George’s delegate charged with wire fraud, resigns from Maryland General Assembly Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:01 AM PDT Democratic Del. Tawanna Gaines, center, is shown during the 2015 Maryland General Assembly session with Del. Keith Haynes and Del. Adrienne A. Jones Federal prosecutors charged Prince George's County Del. Tawanna P. Gaines on Monday with taking more than $22,000 from her campaign account for her personal use and she has resigned from Maryland General Assembly. Gaines, a Democrat, is charged with wire fraud in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt. According to a filing by U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur, Gaines used a PayPal account that she controlled to take money from the Friends of Tawanna P. Gaines campaign finance account between 2015 and 2018. The PayPal account was not listed in Gaines' campaign finance filings with the state, prosecutors alleged. Gaines, 67, is expected to be scheduled for an initial appearance and arraignment Oct. 17, according to the U.S. attorney's office. House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones announced Monday that Gaines had resigned her seat in the House of Delegates on Friday. More
Rumblings: Mitt Romney Is Weighing a Primary Challenge to Donald Trump Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT Oh, please be true! Mitt Romney has become an expert at lobbing bombs at President Trump from the sidelines. Now there is rumors that Mitt Romney may take on President Trump in the Republican primary. According to HotAir: Romney has re-emerged, as he does occasionally, to be the self-appointed voice of morality. He slammed President Trump's behavior during the phone call to Ukraine's President Zelensky as "wrong and appalling".More
From the Facebook page of Governor Larry Hogan Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT They're at it again. The same politicians that raised your taxes 43 consecutive times during the O'Malley years have been meeting in secret to raise your taxes. The so-called Kirwan Commission is the legislature's vehicle to push for MASSIVE state and local tax hikes - the largest in Maryland history - that will do little to increase student achievement. The Maryland Department of Budget and Management estimates that the Kirwan Tax Hike plan will require a 39% increase in the personal income tax, an 89% increase in the sales tax, or a staggering 535% increase in the property tax. This would cost each Maryland family at least $6,200 in additional taxes per year. Our administration is fighting to make sure money goes into the classrooms and not wasted in bureaucracy. We will continue to push for more accountability and continue to fight to root out corruption and mismanagement in our school systems.

Dick's has destroyed $5 million worth of weapons, its CEO says Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT Dick's Sporting Goods has destroyed $5 million of the chain's gun inventory, its CEO said. After finding out that Dick's had sold the Parkland shooter a shotgun, CEO Ed Stack decided last year the company would no longer sell firearm to anyone under 21. Dick's announced it would destroy its inventory of weapons, rather than allow them to be sold by another retailer. Since then, about $5 million of the chain's gun inventory has been turned into scrap metal, Stack said in an interview with CBS. "All this about, you know, how we were anti-Second Amendment, you know, 'we don't believe in the Constitution,' and none of that could be further from the truth," he said in the interview. "We just didn't want to sell the assault-style weapons that could inflict that kind of damage." More
Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT OCEAN CITY — In the first real public forum on Monday since another "intolerable" unsanctioned motor vehicle event two weeks ago, it was clear nerves are still raw and tensions remain high, but there appears to be some willingness for reconciliation. It was clear from the beginning during Monday's Mayor and Council meeting most of the large crowd in attendance was not there for the mundane agenda. When it came time for the public comment period, many spoke out against the unsanctioned H2Oi event while others sought answers from their city leaders. For the first time, publicly at least, even some participants in the unsanctioned event made their feelings known. The public comment session ran the gamut from fear and anger to distrust and resentment from both sides. Respect was a recurring theme and both sides appeared to offer olive branches and attempts at reconciliation. When the lengthy public comment period ended, one thing was perfectly clear, however. Secretary general warns the UN could run out of money by the end of the month Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT The United Nations' secretary general sent out a letter warning that it could run out of funds in a matter of weeks. Secretary General António Guterres said in a Monday letter to 37,000 employees at the U.N. secretariat that the U.N. is running a $230 million deficit and could run out of money by the end of October, according to CBS News. "Member States have paid only 70 percent of the total amount needed for our regular budget operations in 2019. This translates into a cash shortage of $230 million at the end of September. We run the risk of depleting our backup liquidity reserves by the end of the month," Guterres, 70, said. More

Records Contradict Warren’s Claim She Was Fired Over Pregnancy Posted: 13 Oct 2019 04:00 AM PDT The Riverdale, NJ Board of Education approved a second-year teaching contract for a young Elizabeth Warren, documents show, contradicting the Democrat presidential candidate's repeated claims that she was asked not to return to teaching after a single year because she was "visibly pregnant." Minutes of an April 21, 1971, Riverdale Board of Education meeting obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that the board voted unanimously on a motion to extend Warren a "2nd year" contract for a two-days-per-week teaching job. That job is similar to the one she held the previous year, her first year of teaching. Minutes from a board meeting held two months later, on June 16, 1971, indicate that Warren's resignation was "accepted with regret." Warren's claim that she was dismissed after her first year of teaching because she was pregnant has become a cornerstone of her stump speeches. She has used it to both explain her jump from teaching into the legal world as well as to showcase the difficulties that women face in the workplace. More
