Coast Guard, Navy intercept submersible carrying $200M in cocaine

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 PM PDT

Customs agents teamed up with the Coast Guard and Navy to land a big fish — a submarine-like ship being used to smuggle more than five tons of cocaine worth $200 million to the US, authorities said.

The seizure occurred March 3 in the Pacific Ocean off the Central American coast. Customs officials had spotted the vessel from a plane.

BREAK IN THE CASE? Pollen may help solve 40-year-old Maryland murder

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 04:33 PM PDT

Tiny particles of pollen may help Maryland cold case detectives crack a young woman's murder four decades ago.

The breakthrough came in the 1976 Woodlawn Jane Doe case thanks to recently analyzed pollen found on the victim's clothing that suggests she is from Boston,WJZ-TV reported Saturday.

The analysis determined the pollen, a blend of cedar and mountain hemlock, was linked to the Arnold Arboretum in Boston.

Don't Go The Carrabba's Restaurant If You Are Hungry

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 01:00 PM PDT

It's no wonder people are giving up on going out to eat any more. When you are going to spend $25.00, (or so) on a meal, you expect to get a decent serving of food.

Studying the menu where the steak sizes are 6 or 7 ounces, REALLY? Sure, load me up with lots of bread, lots of mashed potatoes, appetizers LOADED with salt and then 40 minutes later bring me that steak and PASTA.

We visited Carrabba's for the first and last time.  Italian food, ABSOLUTELY NOT. It's nothing but a different kind of Outback.

WBOC is once again pushing the Liberal agenda through the City Council CLAIMING the City has received NUMEROUS letters by residents who are against chicken houses. They allegedly claim it will effect their way of life.

OK Jack Heath and WBOC, PROVE IT. How sad a day is it when your local Media doesn't ask, may we see those letters?

I remember this happening every time there was an upcoming election. Some City Council Members would make CLAIMS they had lots of people writing to them through e-mail but they never did produce those alleged letters.

Salisbury residents, (multiple) never contacted the City Council about chicken houses, it's a LIE. Shame on WBOC for not even doing a background check on this. Then again, all they want to do is push an agenda. Much like Executive Culver cutting off the Daily Times, WBOC will say and do anything these politicians want because they need the business.

To confirm this story, I contacted multiple elected officials on this matter and not one of them could produce a single letter, let alone multiple letters. How can you people trust your local media any more. I guess you enjoy being fed one sided BS stories every day.

WBOC Obsessed With Guy Who Kills Himself

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 11:28 AM PDT

This is a perfect example of how the Main Stream Media LIES about their alleged "PROTOCOL".

For THREE days now WBOC has obsessed over a guy who parked his vehicle on a bridge and jumped to his death. The Main Stream Media claims they do NOT cover suicides, really? So WBOC, do tell us why you have repeated this story for THREE days now and continue to publish it all over social media.

I'll tell you why, because they are desperate for any kind of traffic. Funny how LIBERALS treat these cowards like heroes.

Subject: Cadbury’s accused of war against “Easter” on their chocolate eggs

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 10:00 AM PDT

Cadbury's, Ireland's leading chocolate manufacturer, is denying that the word "Easter" has been dropped from the packaging of their famous chocolate eggs this spring in an attempt to market their products in a more secular way.

A spokesperson from Cadbury's told the Irish Independent that "Easter" was not prominently displayed on the chocolate egg packaging because they felt that "Easter" was implied by the product itself, denying that it was down to political or religious correctness.

"Most of our Easter eggs don't say Easter or egg on the front as we don't feel the need to tell people this – it is very obvious through the packaging that it is an Easter egg," said the spokesperson.

One Dead And Search For Suspects Continues In Cecil Co. Homicide

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 09:00 AM PDT

(ELKTON, MD) — State troopers and county sheriff's deputies are searching this morning for the suspects involved in an overnight shooting in Cecil County that left one person dead.

The deceased is identified as Malcolm G. Lowrie, 22, of Elkton, Md. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to Christiana Hospital where he later died.

A description of suspects is not clear at this time. Information indicates there were two or more suspects involved, but investigators continue to conduct interviews to develop more details.

At about 10:45 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police at the North East Barrack were dispatched to the unit-block of Navajo Trail North, Elkton, Md., for the report of a shooting. Troopers and EMS personnel arrived at the single family home and found the victim had been struck by gunfire.

Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigators responded to the scene and began the investigation. Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators were subsequently called in and are continuing the investigation. Preliminary information indicates the victim was visiting at the home, when two or more persons entered the residence. It is unclear at this time if they forced their way in, or were granted access. Witnesses say an altercation ensued between one of the suspects and the victim before he was shot.

There were five adults, including the victim, and four children in the home when the suspects entered. No one else in the home was injured.

State Police crime scene technicians are still processing the scene this morning, after investigators obtained a search warrant. Investigators continue to interview residents of the home and neighbors to develop more information.

Anyone with information about this homicide is urged to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP, or Maryland State Police at the North East Barrack at 410-996-7800. Callers may remain anonymous. The investigation is continuing.

Delegate Carl Anderton Session Week #11

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 07:00 AM PDT

Session Week #11

Happy Easter everyone!

In this edition of "Making It Happen" we recap the 11th week of the 436th Maryland General Assembly and look forward to the upcoming week. Legislative session ends on April 11th, which is called "Sine Die". We'll be working right up until midnight of Sine Die. When session ends we will re-open our Salisbury office. Look for the announcement in future newsletters.

Right now members of both the House of Delegates and the Senate are working hard on the budget, which is bill SB190. Both the Senate and the House have passed differing versions of the budget, so the budget has been assigned to the "conference committee". That committee consists of six members, three from each chamber. The Speaker of the House selects three Delegates and the President of the Senate chooses three Senators. They come together, negotiate, and create a report with budget recommendations that are then voted on by the General Assembly. We're cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to pass a budget that will be fiscally sound.

The "Wicomico County Board of Education referendum bill" (HB1352) has crossed over to the Senate and will be heard in their Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee this coming Wednesday. As a reminder, the bill would allow the voters to participate in a referendum to choose how the school board is selected.

The three choices would be:

Keep the selection as it is- with Governor Appointments.

Change to a hybrid with five members chosen at the ballot box and two appointed locally.

Switch to a fully elected school board with every member being chosen by the voters.

We passed the bill out of the House by a vote of134-1!

The Senate version of the bill (SB145) previously passed their chamber 47-0 and was heard in the House Ways and Means Committee this past Thursday.

The Board of Public Works approved of theProgram Open Space funding to construct improvements to Schumaker Park. The parking lot is in need of attention and will be resurfaced, along with curbing and sidewalk repairs. The total cost of the project is $80,000 with the requirement that the County would have to pay a 10% match. The park is home to one of the most frequently used picnic pavilions in Wicomico County. In addition, it offers a walking trail, playground, freshwater pond, and a disc golf course. It is a great place to gather with friends and family and I am hopeful that we'll be able to secure the funding and address the needs of the park.

Friday was Maryland Day! This year marks the482nd year since two sailing ships the "Ark and the Dove" landed on Maryland soil.

In addition to the Wicomico County school board bill hearing, this coming week we will continue to work with members of the General Assembly on the budget. Since last April we have worked hard to have local projects included and we'll continue the push to make sure they remain funded.

Keeping in constant communication with a perpetually open door is our way of#makingithappen. We will continue to advocate for the Eastern Shore, poultry farmers, and our Shore way of life. I appreciate that you have taken the time to read our newsletter and thank you for your support. Please contact our office with any ideas, issues, or concerns that you have. We're here to work for you.

Blessed to be your voice in Annapolis,

Carl

Hillary Clinton's Misunderstanding/Misuse of the Term, Jim Crow

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 06:00 AM PDT

By Thornton Crowe

Many have heard the term, Jim Crow, especially from the South. It was an era in American History that is probably darker than the slavery as it was a completely demoralizing period for many Black Americans who suffered from its discrimination and violence.

Politicians like Hillary Clinton love to continually remind voters about this deep dark past, yet it seems she lacks the true history about it. Instead, she uses it to propagate a hatred towards whites and Republicans, threatening minorities that the White Establishment will gyp them out of their right to vote.

During the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era (1865-1877), many Southerners were none too happy with Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and they demonstrated their adverse reactions through a variety of methods. Reports of violence towards the new free Black people was of legendary proportions - and this was just what was reported. Many victims remained silent in fear of retribution from their tormentors.

Furthermore, violence began to rise from a small radical white supremacy group called the Klu Klux Klan, started by Democrats in order to exact justice against the Republican party for upsetting its economic system which depended a lot on slave labor. Even though blacks were technically free, many worked on cotton plantations until the 1940s. They were made low wages, treated very badly and while they legally did not 'belong' to the plantation owners, they were still treated as such.

While Jim Crow was never an actual person, the name represents repression within the Black Community, which still provokes a sense of fear even though it's been largely gone in any national sense since the late Sixties. The era was the promotion of separate but equal premise which never was true in reality. Separate bathrooms, restaurants, hotels, water fountains and a host of many other segregated public places were the Jim Crow era's infamy. Even entertainers like Billie Holiday lamented through their music like her song, Strange Fruit, about the lynchings throughout the deep South in this era.  However, one thing that stuck out the most was the ridiculous testing Black Americans endured in order to vote.

The Greensboro Four
When the student movement began in the late Fifties, the older black community tended to rebuke it because they were not interested in reliving the Reconstruction horrors of their ancestors. However, through the work of activists on a grassroots level, the older community came around and began to cultivate the desire to vote. While Brown vs. the Board of Education was passed in 1954, segregation still reigned heavy in most communities - both in the South and the North.

With Johnson's signing into law the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965, there was still very much a de facto segregation - also known in the Boston area as the Great White Flight - where many whites moved to suburbs, leaving the inner cities to be predominantly black. Hence, when Nixon, through the Supreme Court, actually enforced the two abovementioned laws, it became a violent confrontation as busing became an issue throughout the South and North. Most people thinking this is just a Southern situation are sorely mistaken as the North had its own grappling with Civil Rights.

Boston Protests over Busing
Boston had a most horrendous time with busing in the early Seventies; some altercations were physically violent and fraught with upheaval from both white and black communities. Ted Kennedy's home headquarters had rocks thrown through it's plate glass window, buses were overturned or eggs and other items thrown at them as they carried black children to white community schools. Violence and unrest permeated the Boston area (as well as other Northern cities like Detroit) in protest of the new regulations and laws.

Kennedy's brush with Busing Protest in Boston 1974

Now, where does this tie-in with politicians like Hillary Clinton? Well, her protest on Voter ID requirements for one. She portends the regulations requiring voter ID as being a throw back from the Jim Crow days. This is absolutely FALSE. In those days, black voters - whom were largely under educated thanks to Democrats, were asked to take tests which required them to read. As most were illiterate, they inevitably failed; denying them the right to vote. Identification is something completely different and should be a requirement as it proves the person's identity and their ability to cast a vote. Illegal aliens should not be given this privilege as criminals are generally not allowed to vote in elections.

Clinton Denouncing Voter ID Laws

Saul Alinsky - Hillary Clinton's Mentor
In her Alinsky stylings to divide and conquer through race baiting, Clinton solicits votes through threats of violence not much differently than the KKK using burning crosses and lynchings to hush them and make them submit to her desired effect.  Amazingly, she portends that Blacks, Hispanics, Disabled and Women can't seem to find their way to the local DMV in order to procure even a state ID card which is not a driver's license; thus, painting them as uneducated and stupid.

What Clinton fails to realize is, when you go for SSI benefits, you need ID. Yes. Believe it or not, they do ask for a driver license and/or state ID card in order to get benefits in many states. Furthermore, you need ID to cash checks, get cellphones through a traditional carrier and open bank accounts. Many people have ID so it's not a stretch to get such an ID, yet she claims this is discriminating and prohibiting voting in elections. Sound sane?

Ironically, what this also shows is the lack of substance on Clinton's part as her plan lacks any real change for the Black Communities that have suffered so much under the current administration. She is losing in all her firewall demographics and the threat of criminal indictment by the FBI seems to loom in her future like a huge albatross - which she earned due to her own misdeeds.

My fellow readers and Americans, once again, don't fall for the race hating rhetoric of people like Clinton. If she weren't grasping for the edge with her $500 manicured fingernails, she'd still be race-hating and promoting racial division; its just now, the stakes for her grow higher as she's lost Americans' confidence.

BREAKING NEWS: WICOMICO COUNTY EXECUTIVE CULVER CUTS OFF THE DAILY TIMES

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

It's about damn time!

Today the Daily Times called the executives office interested in garnishing a quote from the County Executive and they told them, NO. Susan Parker became very upset but the Executives Office clearly stated they had lied several times recently and refused to publish Culver's Letter to the Editor.

You see, the Daily Times, (three times) attempted to paint the Executive as a RACIST. Even the Publisher called Culver and asked why Culver hadn't explained in depth WHY Tamara Brooks position was eliminated and Culver responded, "IT'S A PERSONNEL MATTER", how many times do we have to explain it.

Executive Culver did send a Letter to the Editor trying to defend the fact that he did NOT fire Tamara Brooks, she was let go the day before he took Office by former Executive Pollitt. The Daily Times has now printed THREE times that Culver let her go and then to top it off they published a Letter to the Editor recently by Gaynes Hawkins implying Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver is a RACIST. That article garnished 102 comments here on SBYNews.

Oh, if you think that is bad, then the Daily Times tried to call Tamara Brooks and Sharon Morris. (class acts) to get them to turn against Executive Culver, THEY REFUSED.

To top the whole thing off, at the end of today's conversation, out of nowhere the Daily Times Editor said, I don't appreciate you cursing at me Bob. Culver replied, what are you talking about??? Now the Daily Times Publisher, (Ted Shockley) is threatening to do an article blackmailing the Executives Office implying they are going to tell the public the Executive was cursing them out.

The Daily Times are RACISTS. They are RACISTS against ANY REPUBLICAN. Jim Ireton, (when he first became Mayor and DEMOCRAT) also cut off the Daily Times and no such threats were made.

The bottom line, the Daily Times is on their very last leg. They have treated Executive Culver like crap and he has finally put his foot down, enough is enough. Look, I have even been vocal disagreeing with Culver on some issues but we agree to disagree. Your local Media does NOT give TWO SIDES to each story, (following their own protocol) and use editorials to go after REPUBLICANS. Susan Parker is a hard core LIBERAL who hides in the background encouraging her LIBERAL friends to go after fair and honest elected officials. You need to end your subscriptions to that rag of a so called newspaper and shut them down for good.

ANYONE who continues to support that piece of crap paper should be ashamed of themselves. The ONLY way YOU/WE are ever going to advance locally in every possible way is to stop believing the crap they feed you. Culver did NOT curse at the Daily Times and he should sue them for threatening to expose such a lie.

Doverdale Overdose Deaths

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

Salisbury, MD: Today I received the sad news that 2 individuals died as the result of an overdose in my neighborhood with another individual being hospitalized. Our family wishes to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families suffering this terrible loss and we continue to keep the one individual who survived in our prayers.

Drug use and addiction has become a terrible scar on neighborhoods throughout our country as it is destroying lives and families. Children at ages way to young are being exposed to the harsh realities of addictions and living first hand through hell with parents and family members suffering addictions.

Last night at the Salisbury City Council Work Session Mayor Day advised us of a forthcoming budget amendment that will be requesting the start of and coordination of a Task Force proposed by Councilwoman Laura Mitchell and will include the Wicomico County States Attorneys Office, Salisbury Police Department and various other professionals in our community to determine what are some the immediate and long term steps we can take to address various forms of addictions.

I believe that those who struggle with addictions need the full support of our community and the strong guidance of intensive treatments. These are not situations we can simply fix in a week or two, we must have long term strategies for support and treatment. If you have an individual who is suffering from addiction, I strongly encourage you to seek professional guidance on how to get immediate help and intervention into the situation.

On the other side, we need an all hands on deck strategy in targeting the distribution and supply network of the drugs flowing in our community. We need a strong multi-jurisdictional, multi-state approach to dropping the hammer on those manufacturing, storing and distributing narcotics. I am in full support of the Mayor's strategies and focus on this issue and truly wish there was more that we can do.

From a community standpoint I implore parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, to have these hard conversations with the children that you influence in your lives and the importance of making good, healthy life choices so that they do not end up as a statistic in the news.

Jim Ireton Will Say ANYTHING To get Elected

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

"Our campaign to protect the family farm,

the environment, health care,

and women's rights

has been preparing for this day".

Let's start from the beginning.

"Protect the family farm"
Clearly Jim Ireton supports multiple chicken houses.

"The Environment"
Jim Ireton ran on a platform for Mayor of Salisbury by stating he would clean the Wicomico River so you can swim in it within 10 years. Would you swim in that River?

Sticking with his false promise on the environment, let's talk about the Salisbury Waste Water Treatment Plant. The $140,000,000.00 project still does not work. I'd be comfortable in saying, I highly doubt that system will ever work until tens of millions of additional dollars are spent to put in a system that is proven. Ireton hid this from all of you.

Health Care
No matter the cost, now Jimmy wants to claim he'll have something to do with free health care.

"Women's Rights"

Really Jim, you dare state you stand and support women's rights? Here's a gay man who has gone after every single woman who has ever challenged him and or worked with him.

Liberal politicians will lie to your face and send out information saying what you want to hear but evidence proves they couldn't care less about any of it.

Aren't you sick and tired of politicians on ANY side doing such things. Isn't it time you start electing people who aren't on drugs, public assistance, alcoholics, don't abuse women and actually do what they say they're going to do.

Don't you want America the way it used to be? Don't give up! Your vote truly counts, starting right here at home. Do not cast a single vote for this proven liar. WORDS are no longer good enough. Jim's actions from the past prove he is not worthy of being a politician.

A Viewer Writes: Damn Chickenhouses

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

OK so "they" (a company out of VA) want to build an industrial scale chicken farm in my backyard. There is a meeting tomorrow at the Civic Center at 6:00. --SEE ATTACHMENT-- There is also a meeting April 5 at 6:00 at the county council. This is such crap (pardon the pun) all the families around here trying their best to make a living growing chickens like sharecroppers for large corporations as if they were serfs. Now we are going to experience just what globalization is. The corporations are cutting out the grower and mechanizing the growing process. Any labor that they need will not be your neighbors teenager, it will be some immigrant brought in on a work visa at best and at worst a Muslim refugee that we will pay for. I would appreciate if you could put a spot on your blog letting people know specifically what is happening over here on Walston Switch Road. Also, please let people know that this isn't just some neighborhood people complaining about their selfish problems, this is a symptom of a much larger problem that is destroying our way of life and our society. If we don't fight it, then our children lose.

Best wishes from FEMA region 3

No Fishing Licenses at Fruitland Walmart - Wonder Why?

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

Joe,

Just after Christmas 2015, I went to the Fruitland Walmart's sporting goods department to renew my fishing license. I was told by the associate that DNR's license machine was down and had been for several months.

I revisited Walmart last week with the same purpose in mind, and was informed that the machine was still down.

I can only imagine how many hundreds of customers have been turned away over the last five or more months by this Walmart, each time citing DNR as the problem.

Curious about how this could be a continuing problem, I sent an email to two of our state representatives. They answered within a couple of days (thank you Jim and Carl). The problem, it seems, is not DNR, but the Fruitland Walmart. They have evidently neglected to address the problem in all that time, when all that it would have taken to resolve it is some effort on the part of their IT staff.

Please, do consumers a favor and post this letter, letting them know that DNR is not at fault here.

Thanks.

Publishers Notes: When ALL retailers sell you a license they ask you for your date of birth. This includes the state. If you are 65 and over you get a pretty massive discount on your license. In fact, it will only cost you FIVE DOLLARS.

However, unless you ASK, the state and retailers will charge you the full amount. I wanted to let those seniors know they can get their Maryland License for only $5.00. DON'T GET HOOKED!

WICOMICO DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

On March 21, 2016, a Wicomico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Byron Maurice Smiley, age 29, of Salisbury, Maryland, to 10 years active incarceration within the Maryland Division of Corrections which is a mandatory, non-parole eligible sentence for the charge of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine.

Minutes later, the same judge imposed a consecutive 15 year prison sentence for a subsequent Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine charge. Both of the sentences imposed on March 22nd were ordered to run consecutive to any other sentences Smiley is obligated to serve.

The total sentence amount is 25 years of active incarceration within the Maryland Division of Corrections with 10 of those 25 years being a mandatory, non-parole eligible sentence. The 10 year minimum mandatory, non-parole eligible sentence is based upon Smiley's status as a repeat offender and his prior convictions for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine.

The events at issue in the first case began on September 3, 2015, when members of the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force and the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at 2509 N. Zion Road, Salisbury, Maryland. Upon entry into the residence, officers located Byron Maurice Smiley asleep in the front bedroom. At the time that entry was made, Smiley was the only person located in the home. A search of the residence lead to the recovery of 139.9 grams of suspected cocaine, 3.8 grams of suspected marijuana, ammunition and $1022.00 in U.S. currency.

The events at issue in the second case occurred while Smiley was out on bond in the first case and pending trial on the felony drug charges. On January 11, 2016, members of the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by Smiley in the area of 804 East Railroad Avenue, Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland. Based on events which transpired during the traffic stop, Smiley was placed under arrest. A subsequent search of Smiley's person resulted in the recovery of 3.37 grams of Cocaine which Smiley had secreted in his buttocks.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit and the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case. Mr. Maciarello also thanked Patrizia J. Coletta who prosecuted Smiley.

BLACK LIVES MATTER ISSUES MAJOR THREAT TO WHITE PEOPLE OVER PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

If Trump wins the election, BLM has more violence planned

What's the more appropriate phrase: black lives matter, or all lives matter?

Obviously all lives matter, but Black Lives Matter (BLM) maintains its slogan is designed to draw attention to the fact that people don't think their lives matter – but isn't saying other lives don't matter; just that theirs matter a little bit more.

Actions speak louder than words, and the violent rhetoric BLM spews makes it hard to believe such a defense. Whether it be advocating for the murder of police, or racial segregation, BLM seems intent on reversing the Civil Rights movement, not launching a new one.

We saw BLM protesters (among many other leftist groups) shut down a Trump rally in Chicago last week, with violence then breaking out. Protesters shattered the windows of cars with Trump stickers, and assaulted police.

BREAKING: Terror Attack in Europe

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

From Newsmax:

Two explosions tore through Brussels airport on Tuesday morning killing 13 people in what Belgian public broadcaster VRT called a suicide attack, and a further blast struck a metro station in the capital shortly afterwards.

The Belga agency said shots were fired and there were shouts in Arabic shortly before two blasts rang out at the airport. Pictures on social media showed smoke rising from the terminal building through shattered windows and passengers running away down a slipway, some still hauling their bags.

All public transport in Brussels was shut down, as it was in London during 2005 militant attacks on the underground that killed 52. The Belgian Crisis Centre, clearly wary of a further incident, appealed to the population: "Stay where you are".

The blasts at the airport and metro station occurred four days after the arrest in Brussels of a suspected participant in November militant attacks in Paris that killed 130 people. Belgian police had been on alert for any reprisal action.

As the Spectator notes:
At least 13 dead after two explosions by 'suicide bombers' at American Airlines check-in desk at Brussels airport. 35 injured. Firemen are said to have found a third unexploded device.
Separate explosion at Maelbeek metro station in Brussels city centre, 500 metres from an EU institution. Brussels police have confirmed there have also been deaths.
Brussels airport and the city's Metro have shut down. The airport will remain closed until 6am on Wednesday morning. All Eurostar trains to and from Brussels have been cancelled. All trains to Brussels stations from Paris have been cancelled.
The attacks come four days after the arrest in Brussels of Salah Abdeslam, a suspected participant in November's attacks in Paris that killed 130 people.
France has announced it is deploying an extra 1,600 police at its borders. We will update this story as more news becomes available.

LEGENDARY COMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 3-16-16

THE WICOMICO RIVER
While it is reasonable to assume that the river was used by Native Americans for hundreds, if not thousands, of years before the modern era, life on the river as we now know it started around 1665 when Colonel Isaac Handy settled on it's shores about 3 miles south of present day Salisbury. His land was a grant known as Pemberton's Good Will and is still preserved by Wicomico County as Pemberton Park.

Colonel Handy set up his first business at the fork of the river where the present Main St. bridge now crosses the river in Salisbury. At that time, the site was known as Handy's Landing. It remained so for the next 60 years when the name was changed to Salisbury after the town in Great Britain of the same name.

The river was deep enough in 1730 for ocean going vessels to navigate as far as New Nithsdale, located at the junction of the Wicomico River and Rockawalkin Creek. Lighter ships could come up as far as Cotton Patch Wharf, presently a residential area on Riverside Drive in Salisbury and many unloaded up Tony Tank Creek located just south of there.

The river was dammed in two places in Salisbury, significantly adding to the value of Salisbury as a center of commerce in the early days.

The earliest dam was established on the east prong in 1743 by William Venables. The power generated by this dam was used to operate a grist mill for more than 150 years. The adjoining property was known as Mill Grove and on it the owner had his home. The spot where the mill was located is currently occupied by the Wicomico Regional Library on South Division St. The dam was where the current South Division St. bridge now crosses the east prong of the river. The dam burst in 1909, letting out most of the water contained in Humphries Lake, which had been formed by the damming of the river so many years ago, and ending any mill operations generated by the dam. Until the dam burst, there was no East Main St. The area covered by Humphries Lake can be visualized today by following the depression of land between South Division St. on the west, Route 50 to the north, and the Salisbury City Park to the east and south.

The second dam was constructed in 1750 by a Mr. Bailey. This dam was located on the north prong where Isabella St. crosses the river. He built two mills on either side of the dam. On the east side he built a grist and planing mill and on the west side he had a saw mill.

Many lumber mills sprang up along the river. The abundance of old growth pine in the area contributed much to the economy with the river as a means to move it. The first lumber mill was built by George W. Parsons. It was located on the north side of the river where a ship building business now exists.

George Parsons' brother, Milton A. Parsons, also had a saw mill and a grist mill about two miles downriver from Salisbury. The Parsons brothers' mills were the first mills to operate in Wicomico County.

The first effort to clear the river bottom in Salisbury was done in 1910. At that time the mud flats on the north prong were removed. In 1927 $215,000 was authorized by the U.S. Congress to dredge the river bottom. Apparently, this was not sufficient because another $272,000 was secured from the Federal Government in February, 1939, to dredge the river to a depth of 13 feet with a channel 150 feet wide.

The first harbormaster was Charles E. Harper. He had been mayor of Salisbury from 1904 to 1910. He had such a keen interest in the Wicomico River in Salisbury that he kept records of vessels using the river and their cargo for a period of 42 years. So, on July 1, 1931, he officially became the harbormaster.

For many years, the only method of crossing the river was where the Main St. bridge is now located. There was originally a pivot bridge across the river there. This was eventually replaced by the current drawbridge. There was also a bridge over the east prong connecting the downtown area to the area south of the river by way of Camden St. There were many wholesale seafood outlets near this bridge. In the early days of Salisbury, what we know now as Main St. was called Bridge St. and Market St. was named Dock St. So, the names of the streets reflected the importance of the river to Salisbury's existence.

What will you be doing this weekend?

They Can't Be Serious?

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

I am absolutely blown away that Salisbury could be so desperate for federal/state funds for Bike Routes that they would encourage ANYONE to ride along Rt. 13.

It's bad enough there are hundreds of vehicle accidents each year, can you imagine just how many people would be hit by cars while riding bicycles on the very same road.

The big question is, WOULD YOU RIDE YOUR BICYCLE ON THIS ROUTE?

Megyn Kelly has broadened her war on Trump.

WOW!

Megyn Kelly has broadened her war on Trump.

Now, she's not just dedicating her program to Trump-bashers but she's openly attacking Donald Trump supporters.

Megyn tweeted out this comment by Trump-hater Ben Domenech…

Are You Tired Of Seeing Self Proclaimed Hero Images On Social Media?

What's next, images of police officers taking selfies too? Oh, that's right, we already have that with the Salisbury Police Chief in the Wicomico River.

These people need to simply do their job, (what they are paid to do) and stop bombarding Facebook and Twitter with how special they are.

I can see them publishing images on their own Websites but come on, really, Facebook and Twitter? Enough is enough.

Subject: Sean Hannity Makes A HUGE Threat If GOP Steals Election From Trump!

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

The Republican establishment is furious at the success of conservative businessman Donald J. Trump. It's clear that no establishment candidate can earn enough delegates to win the GOP nomination before the RNC meets in Cleveland.

The Republican establishment is furious at the success of conservative businessman Donald J. Trump. It's clear that no establishment candidate can earn enough delegates to win the GOP nomination before the RNC meets in Cleveland.

Now, there are rumors that the rules might be changed to stop Trump so the power-brokers of the Republican party can install their own candidate. Perhaps Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney?

But Sean Hannity of Fox News is speaking out and made a bold threat against the GOP! He's promising that if the election is stolen from Trump, he will walk away from supporting the party… and so will millions of his listeners.

This is incredible!

"You know, if they are going to be that self destructive, and if they're going to pout, and if they're going to pick up their little toys, and they're going to go home like a bunch of babies, they will destroy, there will be no Republican Party at the end of this. Because if they're successful, Guess what? Cruz and Trump supporters are walking out. And, I'm walking out with them."

Cruz Calls for Muslim Surveillance in US

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Tuesday that surveillance in Muslim neighborhoods in the U.S. must be intensified following the deadly bombings on Brussels' airport and subway.

Echoing his rival Donald Trump, Cruz said the U.S. should stop the flow of refugees from countries where the Islamic State militant group has a significant presence. The Islamic State took credit for the Brussels attacks that killed dozens Tuesday and wounded many more.

"We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized," the Texas senator said in a statement.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, condemned Cruz's call for surveillance, saying it sends "an alarming message to American-Muslims who increasingly fear for their future in this nation and to all Americans who value the Constitution and religious liberties."

SBYNews Exclusive: Another Mysterious Inmate Death At ECI

Posted: 27 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT

On March 14th an inmate at ECI mysteriously died. ECI is claiming the inmate hung himself, yet there's been nothing in the news.

OK, here's where things get unreal. The inmate was in pre release as he was going to be released in April. ECI claimed that the inmate hung himself, yet they found him on the ground!

After speaking to Family members, he had been writing them in great spirits, very upbeat and he was excited he would be released. To the Family, none of this makes any sense.

To add insult to injury, the Coroner in Baltimore has yet to give a cause of death and stated it is "still pending". Why, because, (we're told) there are no marks on his neck. There are alleged marks on his face but not on his neck.

Officials have refused to allow the Family to see or even identify his body. They did however tell the Family they have 14 days to bury him or they would cremate the body. The Family was NOT prepared financially to pay for a proper burial but were able to come up with the funds.

There needs to be far better accountability. We ran a similar story back in 2009. Hopefully this attention will cause Officials to investigate the death of James Robinson, 33 years old. Inmates are humans. FAMILY MEMBERS ARE NOT CRIMINALS. They deserve to be treated with respect and the mind set within the criminal system need to change immediately.

I will be texting ALL of our local elected officials to view this exact article. I will be asking them to investigate this death and I will be speaking with the Governors Office and ask they put the very people who confront Family Members through sensitivity training.

Hopefully the rest of the local and even state wide Main Stream Media picks up on this story and expose yet another mysterious death.
