Posted: 20 Mar 2016 08:09 AM PDT Be prepared this week for major back ups along Rt. 50 west bound. It starts around Willards and ends near Tall Tales in Parsonsburg. They are tearing up the old asphalt and will start the paving process soon. Nevertheless, plan on at least an additional 15 minutes to get through that area during rush hour this week. |
Posted: 20 Mar 2016 08:04 AM PDT I am absolutely blown away that Salisbury could be so desperate for federal/state funds for Bike Routes that they would encourage ANYONE to ride along Rt. 13. It's bad enough there are hundreds of vehicle accidents each year, can you imagine just how many people would be hit by cars while riding bicycles on the very same road. The big question is, WOULD YOU RIDE YOUR BICYCLE ON THIS ROUTE? |
Do You Really Know Ted Cruz? My Guess is, Probably Not! Posted: 20 Mar 2016 06:00 AM PDT By Thornton Crowe A lot of talk in the GOPe circles lately, saying they may have to throw support to a wildly unpopular senator, Ted Cruz (R-TX), by holding their noses - so to speak - is more to demonstrate to voters how much they hate Trump. Even Republican RINO, Lindsay Graham (R-SC) has been caught talking on the airwaves about his disdain but endorsement that may be thrown Cruz's way as their boy Rubio (R-FL) isn't making the bill in this primary season. But what the GOPe isn't telling you is something more dark and nefarious. A couple posts back, I enlightened you with a post regarding his ties to the Christian extremist, Kevin Swanson. A most delightful minister who proposes for mass extermination of our homosexual population - an act that Hitler and the Third Reich performed in their Final Solution, resulting in the death of millions of Jewish and other dissenters. However, Senator Cruz has another albatross hanging around his neck - his homage to Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC 1973-2003). Why is this so dastardly? There are a plethora of reasons but here's the main reason this is not what we desire in the White House - ever - even if it's just for a spot of tea. Jesse Helms died in 2008; however, his legendary stance against integration, Civil Rights and all things segregation were vilified in a Washington Post article by David S. Broder, the year of his death. Helms was no stranger to race baiting only his stance was he was a white racist. When he was campaigning, one of his adverts was clearly demonstrative of his rejection of Affirmative Action as it poised white people to believe the only reason they weren't getting jobs was because the employers had to give the job to a minority. To further galvanize his position, he filibustered for sixteen days straight against making Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday into a national holiday. Furthermore, a opponent of Civil Rights, he stated, "and called the Civil Rights Act "the single most dangerous piece of legislation ever introduced in the Congress." Simply put, he was an unabashed segregationist that never appreciated any equality and forwarded white supremacy at every turn. Helms's Campaign Advertisement from 1990 (NC) Fast forward to March 2015, an article by Judd Legum on thinkprogress.org states, Cruz's speech at the Heritage Foundation (around September 2013) was disturbing because not only did he praise Helms; proudly relaying the first contribution to a politician he ever made was to him - he also said, "...We need a hundred more like Jesse Helms in the US Senate." Watch the video below and hear it from his own mouth. No disputing or editing in this clip. It's complete and unedited. After the last eight years of a race baiting, ACORN, Black Lives Matter, Black Panthers, and other white hate groups promoted by Obama and the Democrats, can we really afford another four years with Ted Cruz dividing and segregating our country even further into the abyss? At a time where racial divides are so strained and present, it's suicide for us to fall prey to the clandestine backstory of Cruz's 'sealed' other life. Haven't we had enough of the "sealed" background candidates and politicians who say one thing while doing another? And to think of how many times he has repeated the false narrative of the Trump/Duke story... how hypocritical to say the least. Almost sickening given his statements regarding one of America's most racists Senators in modern times. With a hero like this, is it any wonder why he doesn't have warm fuzzies inside the Beltway? Think long and hard about this, folks. This election is far from any laughing matter. |

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 3-19-16 Posted: 20 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT "THE OAKS DRIVE-IN" Probably the most memorable of all the businesses that have lined either side of South Salisbury Boulevard was the once Oaks Drive-In, originated and operated for many years by former County Councilman Hermus W. Lowe. It was located at the intersection of an unpaved county road, running west to Camden Avenue past the residence of the George Wolf's. Years later when Richard Cooper prepared a plat for the subdivision of the area, the name of Kay Ave. was given to the street, in honor of the Wolf's daughter – now Mrs. Ted Wycall. For the high school teenage set of the '50's and '60's, the Oaks became the gathering place, the haven and unofficial Mecca to meet, eat and drink Pepsies. Those were the days of the bobby socks, the fans of Dick Clark, when the lifestyle by current standards would appear very unsophisticated. Drugs were items such as penicillin, sulfa or the prescriptions for youngsters' bouts with colds, acne and sprained muscles. Generally their wants were limited to hamburgers, milkshakes and maybe a beer. Teenagers came from as far away as Dover and Cape Charles just to go to the Oaks. Those were the days of back roads drag racing and this was where all the matches were made. Usually when a good race was imminent, you could observe a mass exodus from the Oaks to the designated strip of back road. For those not having a car with good acceleration, there was always the hobby of customizing to the owners taste. The motto of the day was "If it won't run, chrome it". "Poppin' hoods" was a familiar sight at the Oaks. One of the most popular exercises was driving around the building. Eventually they put in speed bumps to slow people down. I think the record was the night that a boy drove his father's tractor (as in tractor/trailer) around the Oaks a total of 100 times. Fights were rare and the only time I remember someone getting knocked down, the recipient of the blow later claimed that he had slipped on a French fry. Usually things were settled by a lot of "jawing". If you were lucky enough to get a "stand" outside, that was a cherished place for the remainder of the night. The car-hops would bring you food and drink and you could sit there and observe all the activity. There was a lot of entertainment to be had for less than $2. Those were the days. A branch of the Peninsula Bank sits on the site now. Publishers Notes: There are some articles George wanted me to republish. This is one of them that came from 2009. |

Local Law Enforcement Officer Is Fed Up Posted: 20 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT I've been quiet for a long time but it's time to raise the voices of all of us. I'm TIRED of hearing the news, virtually every day, another law enforcement brother or sister is being murdered in this country! AND our PRESIDENT sits idle and says NOTHING….. Just in the last few weeks 3 officers were murdered within 30 miles of the White House and NOTHING! Where is WE THE PEOPLE anywhere in that???? " WE" in law enforcement are part of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA too. I've personally served this country my whole adult life (since going into the U.S. Air Force at 17 years old and then 28 years as a Police Officer) and have been proud to do it! UNTIL NOW – it makes me physically ill to see where "we" are as a country! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!! NONE of you know unless you have SERVED what it truly means to SERVE! We don't look for accolades, or special news conferences or poplar opinion – we do our DUTY with HONOR, INTEGRITY – we do our best to treat everyone we contact with compassion and fairly. Sure WE makes mistakes, who doesn't? BUT WE are always held accountable …SO, then WHY is it so different for OUR GOVERNMENT LEADERS? OUR PRESIDENT? DO SOMETHING!!! MAKE THIS STOP! Declare that this will NOT BE TOLERATED ANY LONGER! ESPECIALLY the Premediated, unprovoked and senseless murders of law enforcement officers. It's easy to sit back and do nothing, but LEADERS LEAD! So do it! A wise man once told me, "IF you turn around and no one is following you, you are NOT CALLED to be a leader." THINK about it! It's time for a check up from the neck up… ALL of us who serve or have served – GOD BLESS YOU!! For everyone who has not, it's OK but it's now time to do your part. PRAY for our LEADERS, speak out and call them – hold them accountable – DO IT IN PEACE, do it in wisdom…. not always with eloquent words do people listen, but they have ears to hear when you speak from the heart! OUR Forefathers CALLED TO THE PEOPLE – they proclaimed US ( THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ) - "ONE NATION, UNDER GOD and INDIVISIBLE" – look around. How are we doing with that???? Mr. President – it's not just you but YOU are our top official. I'm not qualified to judge, GOD himself will take care of that. This country will only be as strong as the weakest link – it's TIME TO FIX some things that are broken! HELP us do our jobs, to do our DUTY! The WORD says….Faith without works is dead. Take a step, take an action. I call to ALL our GOVERNMENT LEADERS to do the same – on one accord, with one voice. Who cares about party lines, turn around and do something. Immediate action is necessary! PLEASE! We are great as a nation because of GOD's grace along with the traditions, honor and legacy of some great people before us. Law Enforcement officers across this country NEED YOU now, we need your help! It has to start at the top! GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! |

Congressman Andy Harris’ Statement on President Obama’s Supreme Court Nominee Posted: 20 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) released the following statement on President Obama's Supreme Court nominee: "Once again President Obama is playing politics with the future of this country by attempting to force the Senate to confirm a liberal Washington insider to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is a lifetime appointment and the American people should not be denied a say in the direction the court will take for decades to come. The Senate has the constitutional and legal rights to consider or not consider the 'lame-duck' President's nominee and I believe they should continue to stand strong in not confirming a Supreme Court Justice during this election year." |
Anti-Trump Groups Threaten ‘Largest Civil Disobedience Action of the Century’ Posted: 20 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT With little fanfare and almost no news media attention, some of the same radical groups involved in shutting down Donald Trump's Chicago rally last week are plotting a mass civil disobedience movement to begin next month. They intend to march across the East Coast in order to spark a "fire that transforms the political climate in America." The operation, calling itself Democracy Spring, is threatening "drama in Washington" with the "largest civil disobedience action of the century." The radicals believe this will result in the arrest of thousands of their own activists. "We will demand that Congress listen to the People and take immediate action to save our democracy. And we won't leave until they do — or until they send thousands of us to jail," the website for Democracy Spring declares, channeling rhetoric from the Occupy movement. The group is backed by numerous organizations, including the George Soros-funded groups MoveOn.org, the Institute for Policy Studies, and Demos. The pro-Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) MoveOn.org has been playing a prominent role in organizing anti-Trump activism, including last weekend's shutdown of the billionaire's rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion. The AFL-CIO, the nation's largest labor federation, announced in a press release earlier this month it is "all in behind Democracy Spring," perhaps indicating significant mobilization. What do the radicals claim to want? |
MADD co-founder joins push to toughen Md. drunk driving laws Posted: 20 Mar 2016 05:00 AM PDT WASHINGTON — Police, politicians and citizens who launched a concerted effort to toughen drunk driving laws in Maryland got the help of a veteran of the fight: One of the co-founders of MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Cindi Lamb Wiley sat on a bench outside a Maryland Senate committee room, preparing to testify. This wasn't a new experience for her. She'd been here before, as a young, grieving mother. "My daughter and I were going to the grocery store on November 10, 1979," Wiley says. But they never made it to the store. A drunk driver slammed into their pickup truck in on Md. Rt. 26 in Frederick County, shattering both their lives. More |
