Japan confirms whales killed during 'scientific' expedition to Antarctica

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 08:30 PM PDT

Four ships in the region also capture 333 minke whales, including pregnant females

Japan has confirmed whales were killed on its most recent "scientific" expedition in the Antarctic region.

Four survey ships from Japan's Institute of Cetacean Research were in the Antarctic region over a period of 115 days from 1 December last year.

The institute's report said 333 minke whales were captured, including pregnant females.

Japan's actions are in defiance of international criticism and despite a 2014 UN legal decision that ruled so-called scientific whaling activity in the Southern Ocean was a front for commercial hunts.

SUPER SOFT ON ISLAMIC TERROR: OBAMA SAYS THAT ISIS ‘IS NOT AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO US’

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 07:30 PM PDT

In the wake of the horrible bombings in Brussels, Barack Obama is insisting that there is no need to change our approach in the fight against ISIS.

He believes that Islamic terror is not a fundamental threat to our way of life, and he wants all of us to be convinced that the way that he is handling ISIS right now is just fine. Well, in this article you are going to learn some very shocking things about Obama and ISIS that are likely to make you very angry. It turns out that our allies Saudi Arabia and Turkey have been arming, funding and aiding ISIS and other radical jihadist groups such as the al-Nusra Front (al-Qaeda in Syria), and Obama has known about it all along. The goal was to take down the Assad regime in Syria, and the American people were never supposed to find out the truth.

Earlier today, Barack Obama told reporters that ISIS is not "an existential threat to us" during a news conference down in Argentina. You can see video of him making these remarks right here. But at the same time, he is promising "to continue to go after" ISIS until they are "finally destroyed"

Drug Company Jacks Up Cost Of Aid-In-Dying Medication

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 07:00 PM PDT

When California's aid-in-dying law takes effect this June, terminally ill patients who decide to end their lives could be faced with a hefty bill for the lethal medication. It retails for more than $3,000.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals, the company that makes the drug most commonly used in physician-assisted suicide, doubled the drug's price last year, one month after California lawmakers proposed legalizing the practice.

"It's just pharmaceutical company greed," said David Grube, a family doctor in Oregon, where physician-assisted death has been legal for 20 years.

More Teachers Can't Afford To Live Where They Teach

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:30 PM PDT

Kelly Henderson loves her job, teaching at Newton South High School in a suburb west of Boston. But she's frustrated she can't afford to live in the community where she teaches: It's part of the 10th most expensive housing market in the nation.

"For people in the private sector, they're probably saying 'Oh poor you, you can't live in the community where you work, what's the big deal?' " says Henderson, 35. "And I guess part of the nature of public education and why it's a different kind of job, is that it's all-consuming — as it should be."

Like a lot teachers, she wants to be a vital part of the community where she works. She says people in high-cost communities need to remember that a teacher's job doesn't end at 3:00.

"You want them to coach a team, you want them to teach all day, you want them to be a faculty advisor, you want them to be able to give your kid extra help before school, after school — whenever."

UTAH CAUCUS: First hand insider report - Incompetence, Manipulation, and Ballot Stuffing!!!

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:00 PM PDT

Just got back from my caucus... My head is still spinning.

Check in was slow but reasonably controlled. Super-long lines. I've never seen turnout like this.

Got my credentials, but no presidential ballot. They said those would be delivered to our caucus room.

Got to my caucus room. I counted about 120 people there (no idea how many were actually registered and credentialed).

We elected Precinct Officers, State Delegates, and County Delegates - the typical incompetence and ignorance of the rules you'd expect to see from volunteers, but all went somewhat smooth.

...Then came the Presidential Ballot.

Someone shows up with a stack of probably 250 ballots. The precinct chair splits them up, and starts handing stacks of them out and tells people "take one and pass it down".

No checking credentials, IDs, NOTHING.

I'm sitting at the end of a row and people start handing me stacks of extras. I literally had over 50 ballots in my hand.

Why The Ocean Matters More Than We Realize

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 05:00 PM PDT

Ocean Advocate Says Those Watery Depths Hold Solutions To Earth's Most Alarming Challenges

At a time when the world faces a multitude of potential calamities – ranging from climate change to a struggling oil industry to rapid population growth – the solution could be all around us.

Water, the world's most valuable element, is the key ingredient to solving Earth's most vexing problems, says Peter Neill, director of the World Ocean Observatory (www.worldoceanobservatory.org) and author of "The Once and Future Ocean: Notes Toward a New Hydraulic Society."

It's urgent that we stop lamenting our current condition and start focusing on doing something about it, he says.

"It's past time that we look to creating a hydraulic society, organizing our social, financial and political order around water in all its forms, places and uses," Neill says. "The old paradigm of unlimited growth based on consumption, driven by fossil fuels, is exhausted and on the verge of collapse.

"We see it all around us – in international conflict and migration, the volatility of the world economy and employment, and at home where the decline underlies so much of what concerns us."

He says Earth's population – at 7.4 billion and counting – is putting extraordinary demands on the planet's resources, which means it's crucial that the world's leaders and its citizens need to look to the ocean and the water cycle as vital resources that must be protected. Neill offers these reasons why that precious water holds the solution to humankind's survival:

• Water is everywhere and is essential for life. Water covers 70 percent of the Earth. It exists in the ocean, in the atmosphere, on and in the Earth and even in the human body, Neill says. "Without it, regardless of how rich or poor we are, what economic class we're from, or the color of our skin, we die," he says.
• The ocean contains a wealth of resources. Food is the obvious one, as evidenced by seafood restaurants that play a prominent role in the dining experience in most cities. But there's plenty more, Neill says. Salt water can be converted to fresh water, providing a potential solution to droughts like the one now confounding California. "California has made enormous changes in their water habits because they had to," Neill says. The ocean's water also can be harnessed as an energy source, giving us an alternative method for producing electricity and allowing us to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels. The ocean even holds possible cures for diseases, Neill says. "It's also a place for recreation and personal renewal that, if treated with a respect that we haven't given the land, will sustain us for generations," he says.
• The ocean helps drive the economy. Globalization can be traced to the first time someone boarded a boat and sailed off with goods to trade with people in some far off land, Neill says. Even in an age of air travel, the ocean remains the major player when it comes to transportation of goods. Roughly 90 percent of the world's goods are transported by sea.

Neill worries that, as nations, communities and individuals, we will be too slow to recognize the ocean as our refuge from the multiple problems troubling the planet, and as the organizing principle around which our lives need to revolve.

"The threats are real and the consequences devastating of continuing forward using the same systems and tools," Neill says. "We can easily avoid catastrophe by using our imagination and the technologies that are available."

Inevitably, he says, the ocean is where we must go for fresh water, food, energy, health, political stability, community development and personal renaissance.

"With another 2 billion people expected to be added to the world population by mid-century, with the exhaustion of the land, with the effects of climate change and extreme weather already evident, we must look for answers," Neill says. "Where can we find them? In the ocean. We have no choice."

About Peter Neill

Peter Neill is founder and director of the World Ocean Observatory (W2O) (www.worldoceanobservatory.org), a web-based place of exchange for information and education about the ocean. W2O aggregates global ocean organizations and resources, produces audio-visual materials and provides additional proactive products to aquariums, science centers, educational institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and individuals to build public awareness. Neill previously served 20 years (1985-2005) as President of the South Street Seaport Museum, New York, and has held other positions throughout his career. He is the author of several books, including his latest, "The Once and Future Ocean: Notes Toward a New Hydraulic Society."

Service members will be given extra protection from foreclosure as they transition back to civilian life from active duty if the House passes a bill scheduled for a vote this week.

The Foreclosure Relief and Extension for Service Members Act of 2015 will give those leaving active duty service a 12-month grace period from foreclosures if it becomes law.

Eligibility for the grace period will last through the end of 2017.

The Senate already unanimously passed the bill back in December.

Congress, VA debate: Who should schedule veterans’ appointments?

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 03:30 PM PDT

Congress is getting a clearer picture now of the Veterans Affairs Department's vision to improve its community health care program. But it's largely skeptical that VA can effectively manage such a vast overhaul of the program, and it questioned the department's continued role in scheduling veterans' appointments.

According to the VA's proposal, the new Choice Program would let veterans choose whether they want to access a VA medical center or a private sector provider in the community for care. If the veteran chooses community care, he or she can pick a VA-approved provider from the network list.

The VA organized its provider networks into three tiers:

Tier 1: VA medical centers, including Defense Department, Indian Health Service, Tribal health programs and federally qualified health center providers

Tier 2: Top quality community providers, which the VA will rate using a series of performance metrics

Tier 3: Community providers that meet the VA's standard criteria

Yet members were concerned and confused by the VA's three-tiered system and questioned why the department needed to group its care options in the first place.

How To Trade 9-To-5 Misery For Your Life’s Passion

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PDT

It's no surprise that those with boring-but-safe, 9-to-5 jobs tend to be unsatisfied and less successful than they could be in their careers.

That's because the first ingredient to success is to do what you're passionate about, says serial entrepreneur Parviz Firouzgar, author of "20/20 Hindsight" (www.parvizfirouzgar.com)."When you have the chance to do what you actually love, take it," says Firouzgar, who did so and made a fortune.

"The surest way to work your life's dream is to exercise entrepreneurship, which usually means creating your own niche business. Believe me – it's possible when you have passion and your specialization fills a need. I've done it multiple times and it has been a great ride."

Through trial and error – and after decades of experience – Firouzgar has uncovered reliable tips for creating a business so you can live your passion.

• Find a good mentor. Of course, your enterprise must be financially sustainable. Imagine having the ability to skip ahead to possessing that unique set of skills that comes with already having earned your first fortune.
"Had I known what it would take to earn my first million before I'd earned that knowledge, it would have come much quicker and easier," says Firouzgar. "A good mentor helps you fast-forward through time-consuming mistakes, and will help you learn from their mistakes so you don't have to experience them."
• Formulate a quality business plan for the start-up phase. Getting excited over an idea is fun, but figuring out logistics is where the work begins. While investors seek confidence first and foremost in people – their passion, determination and past successes – a sound business plan is vital for raising capital. If multiple investors refuse your project, it may mean the plan didn't demonstrate how and when the investment would generate an acceptable return.
• To-do lists are non-negotiable – use them. Among the abundant academic and self-help literature intended to help aspirational people achieve goals, there is one proven and reliable tool that sets the gold standard like nothing else: a to-do list. To-do lists act as cheat sheets for keeping your busy mind focused on what needs to be addressed.
"An added tip in executing a to-do list: do first what you like doing least," Firouzgar says.
• In partnerships, you need more than good intentions. New businesses are often founded on shared dreams within a relationship. But before moving forward on a good intention with a family member, spouse or friend, give the concept and its logistics an honest and objective assessment.

"Few people understand why this dynamic so often fails," he says. "But, more importantly, even fewer people have managed to avoid the pitfalls the first time they enter into a business partnership."

How the Washington Establishment Actually Operates

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 02:30 PM PDT

Last week, as the national media obsessed over President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nomination, two conservative lawmakers did exactly what they were supposed to do: Listen to their constituents.

Despite intense pressure from House leadership, Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., and Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., stood alone in voting against advancing the flawed fiscal year 2017 (FY17) budget resolution out of the House Budget Committee.

As Heritage Action argued:

The House's budget should be an opportunity for House conservatives to lay out their spending agenda for the year. Instead, this budget concedes on the FY17 spending levels laid out in last year's Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA). Conservatives should reject this budget and insist that the House revert back to the previous discretionary spending caps of $1.040 trillion.

Persistance Results In Arrest Of Woman Avoiding Warrants For 15 Years

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 02:12 PM PDT

(CITRONELLE, AL) – The persistence of two Maryland State Police investigators who refused to stop trying to find a woman wanted on warrants for 15 years in Maryland and Pennsylvania paid off with her location and arrest in Alabama today.

Wanda R. Graddy, also known as Wanda R. Giddens, 58, formerly of Carroll County, Md., and Adams County, Pa., was arrested early this afternoon in Citronelle, Alabama. She is wanted on warrants from 2002 in Adams County for robbery, criminal attempt, and assault. She is wanted on a warrant for DUI in Westminster since 2001.

During a recent cooperative warrant service initiative in Carroll County, warrants for Graddy/Giddens had been forwarded from the Westminster Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff's Office. Initial efforts failed to locate her in Carroll County or the surrounding region.

After the warrant sweep had ended, Trooper First Class David Brown and Detective Sergeant Padraic Lacy, of the Westminster Barrack, were determined to keep up the search for the woman who had avoided arrest for 15 years. Researching records in multiple states, the troopers were able to locate a driver's license photo from Mississippi. Police in Meridian, Mississippi were contacted and learned Graddy/Giddens had lived there, but had since moved to somewhere in Alabama.

TFC Brown and D/Sgt. Lacy continued their search and were able to determine the woman had recently married and may be living in Mobile County, AL. Detectives from the Mobile County Sheriff's Office provided assistance to the Maryland State Police and were able to locate where the woman was living. They also determined she was wanted on four warrants on traffic charges in their jurisdiction.

After a seven-day search in Alabama, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office stopped Giddens/Graddy at 1:30 p.m. today while she was driving near Citronelle. She was arrested and processed on the Alabama warrants. She will be held on a fugitive warrant as Pennsylvania authorities initiate extradition proceedings for her return to that state.

Big Spike In Money Transfers From Border To Middle East, Arizona Official Claims

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 02:00 PM PDT

Arizona's attorney general is raising the alarm about a potential connection between illegal immigration and Middle East terrorism. Attorney General Mark Brnovich said Arizona residents are worried about border security.

"We've seen a huge spike in money transfers coming from places like Nogales on the border, to Middle Eastern countries," he said on Fox Business Network ahead of the Arizona primary on Tuesday. "Arizona is on the front line, and we have seen consequences of what has happened when we've had an unsecured, porous border. I mean, frankly, just six months ago there were six folks apprehended from Middle Eastern countries, from Pakistan and Afghanistan, at our border. I know when you talk to the ranchers down there, they're concerned because they have found coins from Middle East."

After waves of terror attacks in Europe and Africa in recent months, conservative lawmakers in the U.S. have increasingly warned about the threat of Islamic State group militants or other terrorists crossing the Mexico border. But immigration reform proponents have argued that making the dangerous border crossing into Arizona is an unlikely path for terrorists, and many of the Middle Eastern migrants who have crossed are more likely to be refugees fleeing war or looking to connect with family members already in the U.S, International Business Times found.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office issued a report in early March that highlighted the growing money trail between the Middle East and Mexico. Officials launched the investigation in November after six Middle Eastern men were arrested south of Tucson for illegally crossing the border into Arizona.

Subject: Layoff Warning Notices Sent To 45,700 State Of Connecticut Workers

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With a state budget deficit that may be as high as $266 million, Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has issued formal warning layoff notices to 45,700 unionized state workers in 32 bargaining units, according to the Connecticut Post.

In an effort to avoid layoffs, Malloy has given department heads a week to offer cost-cutting ideas to stem the rising deficit, the Post said. He also offered suggestions, including $6 million in cuts through layoffs, but Republicans are proposing a two-day unpaid furlough program that would save jobs, said the Connecticut Post.

Trump aide fulfills threat to 'spill the beans' on Heidi Cruz

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 12:47 PM PDT

An aide to Donald Trump on Friday fulfilled the businessman's threat to "spill the beans" on Republican presidential rival Ted Cruz's wife, Heidi.

Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson rattled off a list of attacks three days after Trump first made the threat.

"Spilling the beans is quite simple when it comes to Heidi Cruz," Pierson said in an interview with MSNBC's Steve Kornacki.

"She is a Bush operative; she worked for the architect of NAFTA, which has killed millions of jobs in this country; she was a member on the Council on Foreign Relations who — in Sen. Cruz's own words, called a nest of snakes that seeks to undermine national sovereignty; and she's been working for Goldman Sachs, the same global bank that Ted Cruz left off of his financial disclosure," Pierson said.

"Her entire career has been spent working against everything Ted Cruz says that he stands for," she added.

Donald Trump: "I Had Absolutely Nothing to Do" With Ted Cruz National Enquirer Infidelity Story

"And while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin' Ted Cruz."

Donald Trump insisted Friday he had nothing to do with the recent National Enquirer story in which Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is accused of cheating on his wife multiple times.

Still, Trump took the moment to point out the tabloid publication has been right in the past with similar stories.

"I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week's issue of theNational Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it," Trump said in a statement. "Ted Cruz's problem with theNational Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Nabisco Layoffs and Chicago's Manufacturing Future

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 12:00 PM PDT

Layoffs of nearly 300 people at the Nabisco bakery on Chicago's Southwest Side take effect today. The smell of Oreos wafting through the air in Marquette Park was once something neighbors could simply enjoy. Now, those Oreos – and the jobs that go along with them – have become a call to action.

Nabisco looms large over Kedzie Avenue, south of 73rd Street. For Tony Briseño, who was born and raised in Chicago, the bakery represented opportunity.

"We want our jobs. We want them to stay here. And we want to be able to provide for our families," Briseño said.

When Briseño got word in January that he was part of the first round of layoffs, it was difficult to take.

"I just recently got married last July, and I bought a house. I have kids. So I'm devastated," Briseño said. "How am I going to pay my bills? The morale at the company – everybody's just walking around like zombies, you know? They're nervous, they're scared. I mean, who wouldn't be?"

Poll: Trump beats both foes head-to-head

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 11:30 AM PDT

The results indicate that unifying Republican opposition to Donald Trump would be very hard.

Donald Trump would lead either Ted Cruz or John Kasich in a two-way race, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday.

Asked whom they would like to win the GOP nomination, 43 percent of the 652 Republicans surveyed said they wanted Trump to emerge as the party's choice in Cleveland, followed by 29 percent for Cruz and just 16 percent for Kasich, with 9 percent undecided.

In a head-to-head matchup between Trump and Cruz — with Kasich voters re-allocated to their second choices — the Manhattan real-estate mogul earned 46 percent support, compared with 37 percent for Cruz and 12 percent undecided. While the Texas senator drew slim advantages among tea party supporters, white, born-again evangelicals and those describing themselves as very conservative, Trump drew far greater support from voters who described themselves as somewhat conservative, moderate or liberal, as well as among men, women and those 45 years and older.

The Stop Trump PAC has been hinting at a major news bombshell for days. But apparently, the supposed news has less to do about Trump than it does about Cruz!

The buzz focuses on Cruz and Tea Party activist Katrina Pierson. Pierson is a former consultant for Cruz's United States Senate campaign and is now the national spokeswoman for businessman Donald Trump's presidential campaign, which makes this a particularly uncomfortable situation.

Subject: Donald Trump Protester Speaks Out: "I Was Paid $3,500 To Protest Trump's Rally"

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 11:17 AM PDT

Fountain Hills, AZ — For weeks, rumors have circulated the web that individuals were being paid to protest at rallies held by Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump. Today a man from Trump's rally on Saturday in Fountain Hills, Arizona has come forward to say that he was paid to protest the event.

"I was given $3,500 to protest Donald Trump's rally in Fountain Hills," said 37-year-old Paul Horner. "I answered a Craigslist ad a little over a week ago about a group needing actors for a political event. I interviewed with them and got the part."

Trump supporters have been claiming for weeks that the protesters are being paid for by Bernie Sanders' campaign, but Horner disagrees.

"As for who these people were affiliated with that interviewed me, my guess would be Hillary Clinton's campaign," Horner said. "The actual check I received after I was done with the job was from a group called 'Women Are The Future'. After I was hired, they told me if anyone asked any questions about who I was with or communicated with me in any way, I should start talking about how great Bernie Sanders is." Horner continued, "It was mostly women in their 60's at the interview that I went to. Plus, all the people that I communicated with had an AOL email address. No one still has an AOL email address except people that would vote for Hillary Clinton."

Baby Boomers And Millennials May Share More Similarities On The Job Than They Realize

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 11:00 AM PDT

Baby Boomers and Millennials often are portrayed as two generations that don't always see eye to eye in the workplace.

But they may share something in common that could help bridge the generation gap.

Both groups long to find a purpose in their careers beyond a paycheck, say Jackie Dryden and Bethany Andell, co-authors of "Get Your Head Out of Your Bottom Line: And Build Your Brand on Purpose" (www.savagethinking.com).

"Millennials are not only worried about how much money they earn, but also about how they earn it," says Andell, president of Savage Brands, which works with companies to build purposeful brands.

"They gain satisfaction from their work when they feel they are contributing to something larger and more valuable than the company's earnings."

Baby Boomers, idealistic in their youth, somewhere along the way became part of the system they fought to change, she says.

Now, nearing retirement, many look back and wonder what kind of legacy they will leave.

"They're reigniting their earlier desire to add meaning to life," Andell says.

Dryden and Andell say that tapping into the two generations' longing for meaningful work can create an improved outlook for businesses. Here are a few reasons why:

• Everything a company says and does contributes to building its brand. Because of this, the actions and attitudes of employees are central to the brand experience for the customers.
• Too many companies begin their pursuit of success by focusing on profit. Dryden and Andell say a better route to sustainable success is to flip traditional business thinking upside down and start with purpose. Purpose drives performance, they say, and performance drives profits.
• Customers feel better about buying from or working with brands they connect with in some way. When they connect with the purpose for why a company exists they begin to feel as if they are a part of something meaningful, just as the employees do. This deeper relationship adds value to every interaction customers have with the company, building loyalty for the brand.

"When you have two generations – one older, one younger, but both seeking greater meaning at work – there's an incredible opportunity," Dryden says. "But that opportunity can only be seized if a company's purpose and values align and connect with employees on a level beyond the bottom line."

Nancy Pelosi's Absurd ObamaCare Claim

"The liberty to pursue our happiness," Pelosi said, adding that Obamacare "takes us to this place." President Obama signed the bill into law six years ago today.

Trump vs. Cruz: Round II

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 10:00 AM PDT

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz used to be the best of friends. Cruz failed to criticize the Donald under almost any circumstances. Then, Trump began to call into question Cruz's citizenship, relying on the flimsy interpretation of Originalist thought on the mattermade by anti Originalist Laurence Tribe. Despite that, Cruz remained civil.

From there, it's been all downhill. Questionable, dishonest tactics implemented by the Cruz campaign spurred Trump to start calling him "Lying Ted." Cruz has defended himself while trying to keep it civil., Now, for both men, it appears the gloves have come off. Trump is now blaming Cruz for an ad put out by Make America Awesome, an Anti Trump PAC that's not affiliated with any one candidate. As the Washington Examiner notes:

Donald Trump on Wednesday kept up his attack against Ted Cruz by claiming the Texas senator is behind a recent ad showing Trump's wife Melania in the nude.

Trump first accused Cruz on Tuesday of circulating a provocative image of Melania from a January 2000 photoshoot with GQ Magazine. In the accusation posted to Trump's Twitter account, the brash businessman also said he would "spill the beans" on Cruz's wife, Heidi.

But the Texas senator said he had "nothing to do" with the ad after the anti-Trump Make America Awesome PAC took credit for it.

On Wednesday, Trump slammed "Lyin' Ted Cruz" over his repeated assurance that he took no part in the development or circulation of the ad.

Will this get worse, or with both candidates realize that defeating Hillary Clinton means raising the bar?

How Moms are Taking on the $20 Billion School Lunch Market

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:53 AM PDT

The days of school mystery meat may be over.

A startup called No Fuss Lunch is on a mission to transform school lunches into healthy, organic, non-GMO meals.

"I immediately knew right out the gate that there was a real need, that parents wanted more for their kids and healthier options," Gaby Wilday, founder of No Fuss Lunch, tells FOXBusiness.com.

Wilday, a mother of three, started the company after her daughter brought home uneaten, expired army-issued raisins from her school lunch which "was considered a fruit."

"I thought this was nuts," adds Wilday. "I started making seven lunches for free for my friends' kids and now we have a waitlist, doing over 2,000 lunches on any given day."

The privately owned company, whose lunches range from $3.75 to $7.50 per day, doesn't receive any federal subsidy grants like most conventional food service providers in schools do.

This Country Banned Islam

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:45 AM PDT

In the wake of the terrorist attack on Brussels, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump have both spoken about increasing vigilance towards radical Islam, with Trump reiterating calls to limit immigration from Islamic countries and Cruz calling for increased policing in Muslim neighborhoods. These are actions that a majority of conservatives support, but do they go far enough? One country didn't think so. They banned Islam outright:

By popular demand, Angolan authorities have taken pre-emptive action and decided to ban the Muslim religion, which they consider a cult, NOT a religion. They see what Muslims are doing to non-Muslims, especially in Africa, and are taking steps to prevent the same from happening in Angola.

In early October 2013, the Muslims living in Luanda in the municipality of Viana Zango were shocked to see the minaret of their mosque dismantled into pieces on the ground without permission. On Thursday 03 October in the morning, the Angolan authorities decided to destroy the mosque Zango located in the urban district of Viana 17 km.

The governor of Luanda Bento announced in a radio spot that radical Muslims are not welcome in Angola and the Angolan government is not ready for the legalization of mosques in Angola.

And on Tuesday, November 19, the Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva said. "Regarding Islam, the legalization process has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Therefore all mosques would be closed until further notice. " It should be noted that the Angolan government has made closing of all mosques a priority. The only two mosques located in Luanda have already received a warning document signed by the mayor of the municipality of Viana José Moreno.

Glenn Beck Channels Mormon Prophecy in Utah for Cruz: ‘Body of the Priesthood’ Will ‘Stand Up When the Constitution Hangs by a Thread’

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:37 AM PDT

Radio host Glenn Beck spoke at a rally in Utah today for presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz and Utah's Sen. Mike Lee, who is running for re-election. Beck, a Mormon convert, made an overtly religious pitch to the largely Mormon audience at the rally.

"I want to speak to you about something that may be controversial. And it's not something that I have said when I have been out for Ted [Cruz] and now Mike [Lee]. But it's something that this crowd needs to hear – that Utah needs to hear. The body of the priesthood is known to stand up when the Constitution hangs by a thread," Beck said.

Five Lionhearted Medal of Honor Winners

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:30 AM PDT

Lt. William Hawkins, U.S. Marine, gave his life for his country in Tarawa in the Gilbert Island, earning him the Medal of Honor. Hawkins courageously led his men to fight through a beachhead, eventually commandeering it. Instead of stopping there, Hawkins led his men on to annihilate numerous machine gun nests and pill boxes. Crucially wounded, Hawkins went on to destroy three more nests before he was killed.

While Europe Burns, Obama Is...

In Argentina, dancing the Tango. Because the wave wasn't offensive enough:

President Barack Obama came under bitter attack Wednesday for doing the tango and taking in other pleasures on his visits to Cuba and Argentina amid the deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels, with Republican strategist Anna Navarro saying "I think the entire thing is horrible.

"It reminded me of when he went golfing after James Foley's head was cut off," Navarro, a former Jeb Bush supporter, told John Berman on CNN.

Obama played golf on Martha's Vineyard in September 2014 after making a quick statement condemning the beheading of Foley, a freelance journalist from New Hampshire, by Islamic State terrorists. He later admitted that the move was a mistake after widespread outrage by critics.

In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, President Bush was roundly criticized for continuing to read to the school children he was visiting, if only for a few moments. It was a grotesque politicization of an honest moment, as he coped with news of an unspeakable tragedy. In the wake of this tragedy, President Obama has done far worse, playing the aloof spectator, content to be entertained by this hemisphere's greatest tyrants while Islamic terrorists run wild.

The FBI Thinks Hillary May Be Indicted; It All Depends on One Thing

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:07 AM PDT

"FBI chief James Comey and his investigators are increasingly certain presidential nominee Hillary Clinton violated laws in handling classified government information through her private e-mail server," New York Post columnist Charles Gasparino reveals career agents had told him.

But the decision to indict Clinton will be made by the Obama Justice Department, which does not want to see a Republican defeat her in November and potentially undo some of Obama's legacy.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Clinton is facing a federal indictment over charges that she mishandled classified information during her tenure as secretary of state by storing it on a personal email server. The FBI earlier this month granted immunity to Bryan Pagliano, a Clinton aide who helped to establish the server in the basement of her Chappaqua, New York home, as part of its investigation into the matter.

"You don't start granting people close to Clinton immunity unless you are seriously looking at charges against your target," Gasparino quoted one former official as saying.

The fact that Pagliano received immunity, experts have noted, could signal that a grand jury has already been impaneled, though it depends on the details of the agreement. Those details are presently unclear.

"I'm also told Comey and his team increasingly doubt Clinton's story," Gasparino said. "Most officials know private email servers are easier to hack into than secure government servers. They also know that even documents not labeled 'classified' may be top secret."

"Law-enforcement sources also say Comey's record as a prosecutor shows he has zero tolerance for such abuses," Gasparino wrote. "However, FBI sources say he has no backing from President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch to recommend charges against the former secretary since a Clinton presidency may be the best chance to preserve the Obama legacy."

Poll: Majority of Republicans want the party to unite behind Trump

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 09:00 AM PDT

A majority of Republican and Republican-leaning voters believe the party should unite behind Donald Trump at a contested convention, according to a national Monmouth University poll released Wednesday.

The New York billionaire won another 58 delegates Tuesday with a decisive victory in Arizona, putting him within 500 delegates of securing the GOP nomination outright. But should Trump fail to accrue the necessary 1,237 delegates, 54 percent of those polled said the party should back Trump for the nomination anyway. More than a third said the delegates should nominate another person, and 7 percent were unsure.

John Kasich Came in Fourth in a Three Man Race

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 08:30 AM PDT

Think about this one for a minute.

In Arizona, John Kasich was beaten by Marco Rubio, a man who dropped out of the race. Part of the problem there is early voting. Arizona has been voting for a month. But still — it is another example of how completely not viable John Kasich is. Every vote cast for Kasich at this point is a vote for Trump.

In a three man race, Kasich came in fourth behind a man no longer even running for President.

Rep. Black: US Should Suspend Refugee Resettlement Program

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 08:00 AM PDT

Expressing her sympathy and support for the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attack in Brussels, Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) called for a "suspension of our refugee resettlement program until glaring security gaps can be fully addressed.

"While much is still unknown about today's attack in Brussels, it has all the markings of radical Islamic terrorism and should be treated accordingly," Black said in a statement to CNSNews.com.

"[My husband] Dave and I join the many who are searching for answers today and praying for the victims of this heinous attack.

"This tragedy is a sobering reminder of our responsibility here in the United States to keep terrorism from reaching our shores. I continue to believe this requires a full-scale assault on ISIS and a suspension of our refugee resettlement program until glaring security gaps can be fully addressed."

"My heart goes out to all those who were killed and injured in this morning's horrific terrorist attacks in Brussels," Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said in a statement to CNSNews.com.

"An attack like this is an attack on all of western civilization, a truth highlighted by the fact that three missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were injured in the blasts. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone touched by this tragedy."

Trump Just Received Epic News From a MAJORITY Of Republicans… Establishment Is Furious

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 07:45 AM PDT

There has been much speculation about what will happen at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, this summer if none of the candidates arrives having already obtained the necessary 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination.

Many supporters of billionaire businessman Donald Trump fear the nomination will be "snatched away" from him by the party establishment, despite his commanding lead in the delegate count, while Trump's opponents view it as their last chance to stop the candidate they fear will ruin the country.

But based on the results of a new Monmouth University poll, as reported by Politico, it would appear that a majority of Republican voters would prefer the party unite around Trump at a contested convention, even if he falls short of the required delegate count.

Republicans Criticize Partisan Divide At FCC

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 07:30 AM PDT

Two Republicans on the Federal Communications Commission told a congressional panel Tuesday the partisan divide at the nation's telecommunications regulatory body is growing.

FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai, a Republican, said at a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing that the number of votes splitting along party lines at the five-member FCC is growing under FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler - and is twice as high as under four prior chairmen.

"Proposals from Republican commissioners have been roundly rejected as crossing a 'red line,' even when an identical proposal from a Democratic commissioner is accepted later on," Pai told a U.S. House panel. "Collaboration has fallen by the wayside."

Wheeler has a busy agenda in the final year of the Obama administration and has drawn the ire of some industry groups and Republicans in Congress.

He has proposed allowing consumers access to pay TV without renting an expensive set-top cable box. He also has proposed privacy rules that would require Internet service providers to get consent for using consumer data and has unveiled a plan to expand a subsidy for low-income Americans that covers mobile phones to include broadband Internet access.

FCC Commissioner Michael O'Reilly, another Republican, criticized Wheeler for "constantly pushing the envelope into questionable directions, at the expense of collegiality, staff morale and soundness of decisions."

SBYNews Exclusive: Another Mysterious Inmate Death At ECI

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 05:30 AM PDT

On March 14th an inmate at ECI mysteriously died. ECI is claiming the inmate hung himself, yet there's been nothing in the news.

OK, here's where things get unreal. The inmate was in pre release as he was going to be released in April. ECI claimed that the inmate hung himself, yet they found him on the ground!

After speaking to Family members, he had been writing them in great spirits, very upbeat and he was excited he would be released. To the Family, none of this makes any sense.

To add insult to injury, the Coroner in Baltimore has yet to give a cause of death and stated it is "still pending". Why, because, (we're told) there are no marks on his neck. There are alleged marks on his face but not on his neck.

Officials have refused to allow the Family to see or even identify his body. They did however tell the Family they have 14 days to bury him or they would cremate the body. The Family was NOT prepared financially to pay for a proper burial but were able to come up with the funds.

There needs to be far better accountability. We ran a similar story back in 2009. Hopefully this attention will cause Officials to investigate the death of James Robinson, 33 years old. Inmates are humans. FAMILY MEMBERS ARE NOT CRIMINALS. They deserve to be treated with respect and the mind set within the criminal system need to change immediately.

I will be texting ALL of our local elected officials to view this exact article. I will be asking them to investigate this death and I will be speaking with the Governors Office and ask they put the very people who confront Family Members through sensitivity training.

Hopefully the rest of the local and even state wide Main Stream Media picks up on this story and expose yet another mysterious death.

Sowell: Black and White, Left and Right

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 07:00 AM PDT

Much is made of the fact that liberals and conservatives see racial issues differently, which they do. But these differences have too often been seen as simply those on the right being racist and those on the left not.

You can cherry-pick the evidence to reach that conclusion. But you can also cherry-pick the evidence to reach the opposite conclusion.

During the heyday of the Progressive movement in the early 20th century, people on the left were in the forefront of those promoting doctrines of innate, genetic inferiority of not only blacks but also of people from Eastern Europe and Southern Europe, as compared to people from Western Europe.

Liberals today tend to either glide over the undeniable racism of Progressive President Woodrow Wilson or else treat it as an anomaly of some sort. But racism on the left at that time was not an anomaly, either for President Wilson or for numerous other stalwarts of the Progressive movement.

An influential 1916 best-seller, "The Passing of the Great Race" — celebrating Nordic Europeans — was written by Madison Grant, a staunch activist for Progressive causes such as endangered species, municipal reform, conservation and the creation of national parks.

Progressives spearheaded the eugenics movement, dedicated to reducing the reproduction of supposedly "inferior" individuals and races. The eugenics movement spawned Planned Parenthood, among other groups. In academia, there were 376 courses devoted to eugenics in 1920.

Progressive intellectuals who crusaded against the admission of immigrants from Eastern Europe and Southern Europe, branding them as genetically inferior, included many prominent academic scholars — such as heads of such scholarly organizations as the American Economic Association and the American Sociological Association.

Southern segregationists who railed against blacks were often also Progressives who railed against Wall Street. Back in those days, blacks voted for Republicans as automatically as they vote for Democrats today.

Brussels: Is This Just the Beginning?

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:53 AM PDT

The terror attack in Brussels was a horrific tragedy, but the worst may be yet to come. According to the AP, ISIS may have 400 fighters on the way to Europe.

The Islamic State group has trained at least 400 fighters to target Europe in deadly waves of attacks, deploying interlocking terror cells like the ones that struck Brussels and Paris with orders to choose the time, place and method for maximum chaos, officials have told The Associated Press.

The network of agile and semiautonomous cells shows the reach of the extremist group in Europe even as it loses ground in Syria and Iraq.

The officials, including European and Iraqi intelligence officials and a French lawmaker who follows the jihadi networks, described camps in Syria, Iraq and possibly the former Soviet bloc where attackers are trained to target the West. Before being killed in a police raid, the ringleader of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks claimed he had entered Europe in a multinational group of 90 fighters, who scattered "more or less everywhere."

The lesson of Europe is simple. We need common sense vigilance in the face of terror at home and a no nonsense approach to global jihad, or innocents will die.

A Baltimore Drug Dealer's 'Ghetto Fabulous' Funeral and My Black Preacher Dad

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:45 AM PDT

My 87-year-old black preacher dad phoned me from Baltimore, Maryland, at my home in Florida. Dad spent the day at a conference for Baltimore City Fire Dept. chaplains. Dad chuckled that he received a round of applause at the conference for being the oldest active chaplain in the state.

Later this month, Dad is scheduled to be the keynote speaker addressing new recruits into the Baltimore Fire Department. He mentioned seeing a recruit outside of the conference wearing a fire department T-shirt while holding a can of beer. Dad learned that the recruit also has a habit of being late. Dad said such behavior was not tolerated in his day as a young firefighter. He lamented the decline of department standards.

Dad's church is a beautiful historic building located in a Baltimore black ghetto. Dad attended the funeral of the grandson of a couple who are members of his church. The slain 17-year-old black male lived with his grandparents. He was shot multiple times and killed in a battle between black drug dealers.

Baltimore, Chicago, DC, New York, and numerous other cities controlled by liberal Democrats are hotbeds of blacks murdering blacks, despite super restrictive gun laws. Blacks are murdering each other in epidemic record breaking numbers. The Democrat Party and mainstream media are doing black Americans a huge disservice by keeping this truth on the down-low. For shameful self-aggrandizing political purposes, the Left continues to further the lie that the biggest threat to young black males is white cops.

Months ago, before his death, the young drug dealer was shot in the leg and bragged about it as if it were a badge of honor. Dad prayed with his grandparents that the boy would change.

Hillary: U.S. Secretary of the Clinton Foundation

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:30 AM PDT

Days after Benghazi, Clinton Foundation and State Dept coordinated meeting between Libyan president and Bill Clinton

Hillary Clinton used her role as secretary of state to work as Secretary for the Clinton Foundation, utilizing State Department staff for foundation purposes and bringing foundation staff dangerously close to State Department business, new documents released on Tuesday show.

The nearly 300 pages of internal State Department documents, released Tuesday by Judicial Watch, reveal that within two days of the terrorist attacks on Benghazi, Mohamed Yusuf al-Magariaf, president of Libya's National Congress, requested to participate in a Clinton Global Initiative function in order to meet Bill Clinton.

"Dr. Almagariaf will be addressing the United Nations this September in New York as the Libyan Head of State, and he expressed a wish to meet President Clinton and to participate at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting for New York as well," said an e-mail sent to Clinton Foundation director of foreign policy, Amitabh Desal, as the ruins of Benghazi still smoldered.

How Mitt Romney Invested Millions in Outsourcing

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 06:15 AM PDT

David Corn of Mother Jones reports that "according to government documents . . . Romney, when he was in charge of Bain [Capital], invested heavily in a Chinese manufacturing company that depended on US outsourcing for its profits—and that explicitly stated that such outsourcing was crucial to its success."

This didn't happen after 1999, when Mitt Romney says he left Bain Capital to run the Salt Lake City Olympics (Corn was one of the first reporters to raise questions, now gaining wide exposure, of whether Romney really left Bain then), but the year before. On April 17, 1998, Brookside Capital Partners Fund, a Bain Capital affiliate of which Romney was the sole shareholder, sole director, president, and chief executive, invested an estimated $14.2 million in Global-Tech, an appliance maker in Dongguan, China. Global-Tech made products for American companies like Sunbeam, Hamilton Beach, Mr. Coffee, and Proctor-Silex. In September 1998 Global-Tech's CEO announced that the company was postponing a factory expansion because Sunbeam was slowing its rate of outsourcing, and said, "Although it appears that customers such as Sunbeam are not outsourcing their manufacturing as quickly as we had anticipated, we still believe that the long-term trend toward outsourcing will continue."

2 Americans Killed in Brussels Attacks

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 04:16 AM PDT

BRUSSELS — At least two American citizens have been confirmed killed in this week's attacks in Brussels, a U.S. official said Friday, as Secretary of State John Kerry is visiting the city to express his condolences to the Belgian people.

Speaking after meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, Kerry said the "United States is praying and grieving with you for the loved ones of those cruelly taken from us, including Americans, and for the many who were injured in these despicable attacks."

He did not give a specific number but a senior official said the families of two Americans had been informed of their deaths in Tuesday's attacks. The official, who was not authorized to speak to the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, did not have further details.

Governor Hogan Invites Chefs to Submit Recipes for “Buy Local” Cookout

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 03:00 AM PDT

Finalists will Prepare Dishes Featuring Local Products at Government House to Celebrate Buy Local Challenge Week

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan invites chefs using local Maryland ingredients to submit original recipes for the Governor's Buy Local Cookout, which will be held at Government House in Annapolis on July 21. Recipes must be submitted by May 11, and include products from at least one Maryland farmer, waterman, or other producer. Chefs are encouraged to submit simple but creative recipes that showcase ways the average Maryland family can prepare delicious, nutritious meals with locally produced food at home.

The cookout promotes the statewide Buy Local Challenge Week (July 23-31, 2016), during which all Marylanders are encouraged to eat at least one local product each day of the week.

"The Buy Local Cookout and Buy Local Challenge are now a fantastic annual celebration of Maryland agriculture and Maryland cuisine," said Governor Hogan. "We strongly support the tradition of encouraging Marylanders to buy local products from Maryland farmers as we highlight the benefits of preserving our family farms, protecting the environment and supporting our local economies."

Recipes will be chosen in each of the following categories: appetizer, main dish, side dish or salad, and dessert.

Selected teams will be invited to provide, prepare, and share their dish at the Governor's cookout. Chefs should note that recipes may be published in the Maryland Department of Agriculture's 2016 Maryland Buy Local Cookout Recipes cookbook. Complete rules of entry and additional information are posted on line at mda.maryland.gov/documents/2016.recipe.guidelines.pdf

Recipes should be submitted online at: https://mdamarketing.wufoo.com/forms/zf0x1xk1ovlm1p/

Statement from Governor Larry Hogan on Passage of Budget in House

Posted: 25 Mar 2016 12:00 AM PDT

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan released the following statement in response to the passage of the FY 2017 budget in the Maryland House of Delegates:

"In January, our administration introduced a budget that highlighted key priorities for Maryland, including a second year of historic education funding and substantial investment in our neglected transportation system. For the first time in years, the budget also delivered 100 percent of the aid that local jurisdictions had anticipated.

"Today, I would like to thank House Speaker Busch, Chairman McIntosh, and the members of the House for their hard work in passing this budget. Maryland's budget process works best when the executive and legislative branches act in a bipartisan fashion toward a common goal. Although we have concerns about the actions taken to reduce the Rainy Day Fund, I remain committed to working with the House and Senate leadership to build upon the progress we have made in the last year.

"With the operating budget now passed in both chambers, I urge the legislature to continue to ensure that the state operates within its means and remain focused on meaningful dialogue about mandate and tax relief for all Marylanders."
