Pending home sales fall by the most in 2 years

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 09:00 PM PST

Pending home sales fell 2.5% in January, the biggest monthly decline since January 2014.

Economists had estimated that signed contracts for existing single-family homes, condos and co-ops rose 0.5% according to Bloomberg. Last month, pending home sales increased 0.9% (revised from 0.1%).

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), only the South saw an increase in contract activity.

"While January's blizzard possibly caused some of the pullback in the Northeast, the recent acceleration in home prices and minimal inventory throughout the country appears to be the primary obstacle holding back would-be buyers," wrote NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun in the release.

Yun added that while rising home prices could encourage home selling, affordability would not improve until inventory levels — especially of lower-priced homes — increase.

Thousands Of Americans Seeking Jobs – While NY Plans To Give Teaching Jobs To Illegal Aliens

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 08:30 PM PST

This is illegal and simply insane. It's meant to pad the voter roles with illegal alien votes and keep the Marxists in control of America indefinitely. It is the American equivalent to the English saying they will 'breed us out'. New York is getting ready to allow illegal immigrants to teach in their public school system. Not only that, they can legally work as engineers, pharmacists, dentists and dozens of other professions. All of this is brought to you by Obama's 2012 "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" Executive Order.

From The Federalist Papers Project:

New York State is about to allow illegal immigrants to teach in their public schools.

Because they don't want to "close the door" on the "dreams" of illegal aliens, the district plans to certify them to teach in the more than 700 school districts across the state serving 3.2 million children.

The licensing doesn't stop with schools, though. They would also be allowed certification to become engineers, pharmacists, dentists and dozens of other professions, Fox News is reporting.

While federal law prohibits employers from hiring illegal aliens, Barack Obama's 2012 "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" Executive Order allows illegal aliens who meet specific criteria – like being here since childhood – to stay in the United States.

Two Men Mocked A Judge On Facebook After They Got Suspended Sentences. Then She Called Them Back…

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 08:00 PM PST

The problem with some youth these days is that they do not take the judicial system seriously.

For instance, these drug dealing brothers mocked a judge after they got suspended sentence, but they never expected what happened next.

Two brothers hauled back to court for mocking a judge on Facebook after she decided not to send them to prison for drug dealing have now been jailed for two years.

Forty minutes after Daniel Sledden, 27, received a suspended jail term from Judge Beverley Lunt, he posted online: 'Cannot believe my luck 2 year suspended sentance (sic) beats the 3 year jail yes pal! Beverly [sic] Lunt go suck my ****'.

Soon after, his brother, Samuel, 22, wrote: 'What a day it's been Burnley crown court! Up ur **** aha nice 2 year suspended…'

Liberals Furious After White Man Is Cast To Play This White Super Hero

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 07:30 PM PST

Apparently, white superheros can no longer be played by white actors because that's just racist.

Typical liberals are up in arms over the dumbest of things. This week, they're upset that a white superhero is going to be played by a white guy.

Social media users were in an uproar Thursday after it was reported that white Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones had been cast as the titular superhero in Marvel's upcoming Netflix seriesIron Fist — despite the fact that the character is white in the comic books.

According to the New York Daily News, the announcement of Jones's casting caused a social media storm among Twitter users, who criticized Marvel for casting a white actor, instead of an Asian actor, to play the martial arts expert superhero.

BEWARE! List of America’s WORST charities?

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 07:00 PM PST

If you're a generous person like I am, then you donate to charities that are meaningful to you whenever you're able to. But that may change after you find out how little of your donation actually goes to the charity. It's really sad to see this many people donate to a good cause only for the majority of their money to go to a corporation instead of those in need. It's sickening to know corporations are taking this much advantage of the sick and needy. Here's a list of the worst charities.

Hate Speech Or Free Speech?

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 06:30 PM PST

Students displaying anti-LGBT stickers at a high school in Indio, California have touched off a debate: is that free speech or hate speech?

The stickers show a rainbow — the symbol of the gay community — with a line crossing through it. Officials said the stickers have increasingly shown up over the past two weeks on some students' school ID badges at Shadow Hills High School, as well as on social media websites.

The increasing number of the stickers caused an outcry at the school among students and faculty. Many called it hate speech. Shadow Hills senior and vice president of the Gay Straight Alliance Michelle Bachman said on Twitter that the stickers were "definitely hate speech, but legally, we can't do anything until these students start to physically harass us, which I believe is an injustice."

School district administrators said the students have the right to display the stickers, just as pro-LGBT students would.

In an email sent to staff Wednesday, Desert Sands Unified School District administrators wrote, "After consulting with district level personnel and our legal counsel, it was determined that these students do have the protected right to freedom of speech, just as students portraying rainbows in support of the LGBT would."

Obama’s Pro-Union Labor Board Trampled Union Members’ Rights

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 05:30 PM PST

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the federal government's top labor arbiter, was sanctioned by the Federal Labor Relations Authority for refusing to include its union in discussions about an office relocation. The union called for two days of bargaining over potential locations and office furniture, but labor officials found themselves ambushed with denials and counter-proposals from the agency's negotiating team.

The union alleged that "the Agency unilaterally made decisions about the design and layout of the new headquarters" and refused to continue negotiations after the two-day session.

Administrative law Judge Richard Pearson ruled that the agency used "arbitrary" deadlines to bypass union input and refused mediation in bad faith.

The NLRB and union president John Mantz did not return requests for comment.

The National Labor Relations Board Union represents 122 employees who work for the agency, including 65 who were forced to relocate to the new headquarters. The unaffiliated union's most recent filings with the Department of Labor revealed that it collected about $20,000 from its members last year and spent more than $50,000 on professional fees in 2014.

Labor watchdogs said that the punishment is poetic justice.

Since 2010 the NLRB has been staffed by a majority of pro-union Democratic appointees by the Obama administration. During that time the agency has overturned decades of precedents to allow for "ambush elections," micro-unions, and liability for franchisers—all of which have been criticized by labor attorneys and Congress as hand outs to labor unions.

Water Amnesty for Illegal Aliens in Flint, Michigan

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 05:00 PM PST

Caving into the demands of the open borders movement and pro-immigrant Spanish media, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will refrain from enforcing immigration laws in areas of Flint, Michigan affected by a water crisis. The water amnesty is the latest of many reprieves issued by the Obama administration to help illegal immigrants nationwide. Judicial Watch has reported on many of them, including recent hurricane, earthquake, Ebola and "severe weather" amnesties.

This one involves the widely reported water situation in Flint, which is located about 66 miles northwest of Detroit. Last year researchers discovered that the city's drinking water was contaminated with lead from decaying old pipes. The problem arose after a switch in 2014 in the city's water source to save money. Soon complaints mounted that the water smelled and looked strange and academic researchers discovered that it was toxic. This all occurred after a 7-1 vote by the Flint City Council to stop buying Detroit water and join a new pipeline project, according to a local news report.

Now there's a state of emergency and the feds have stepped in, supplying the area with free bottled water and special filters to install at home until the local water supply is clean. For weeks immigrant rights groups complained that residents had to show identification to receive their free goods from the government and illegal aliens were being left out. National Spanish-language media outlets blasted the Obama administration for discriminating against illegal aliens.

Special Counsel Says VA Sought to Attack, Discredit Whistleblowers

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 04:30 PM PST

Oversight officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs failed to properly investigate medical misconduct allegations at multiple VA hospitals and issued reports that attempted to discredit and attack whistleblowers, according to a review by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.

In 2014, the Office of Special Counsel asked the VA inspector general's office to look into claims of "secret waiting lists" at two veterans hospitals after receiving whistleblower complaints. Employees at the facilities claimed veterans would often be forced to wait months or longer for appointments, but this information was kept outside of the VA's official electronic records system so that administrators could dodge federal requirements and take home cash bonuses.

The VA inspector general's office conducted two investigations, one at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Louisiana and another at the Hines VA Hospital in Illinois. The office reported that it was not able to substantiate the allegations made by the whistleblower at Overton Brooks, and was only able to substantiate limited parts of the allegations at Hines.

But the Office of Special Counsel said Thursday that it found significant flaws in the inspector general's reports after conducting a review.

"The OIG investigations that the VA submitted in response to both referrals are incomplete. They do not respond to the issues that the whistleblowers raised," wrote Carolyn Lerner, the head of the Office of Special Counsel, in a letter to President Obama last Thursday.

Historic Italian City Bans ‘Ethnic’ Food To Protect Culture

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 04:00 PM PST

The Italian city of Verona has put a ban on ethnic restaurants to protect its "typical culture."

Verona has seen an explosion of kebab restaurants popping up in the city's historic center. The aggressive development led officials to adopt a new ruling this week in which any new restaurants intending to sell certain "ethnic" food won't be granted a license to operate.

"Thanks to this provision there will be no more openings of establishments that sell food prepared in a way that could impact the decorum of our city," Verona Mayor Flavio Tosi said, according to The Telegraph. "This protects not only our historic and architectural patrimony of the city centre but also the tradition of typical culture of the Verona territory."

Will High Tide Of Primary Voter Turnout Float Republicans In November?

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 03:30 PM PST

More Republicans have voted in early primary states than ever before, while Democratic turnout has dropped off from 2008's historic numbers. But that might not equal success in November for the GOP.

As Donald Trump might say, Republican turnout in this year's presidential primaries so far has been yuuuuuuuge.

Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada all shattered previous records. Meanwhile, Democratic turnout has dropped since 2008, when the fight between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton set new benchmarks.

Super Tuesday on March 1 could also see new turnout records set. In Tennessee, where 58 delegates are up for grabs, party officials are already touting historic early voting numbers for Republicans as evidence that it's the GOP that holds the momentum heading into November.

"Republicans have the energy, enthusiasm and ideas that are motivating a record number of Tennesseans to come out to the polls," state Republican Party Executive Director Brent Leatherwood said in a statement Wednesday.

But will that translate into an edge for the GOP in November? And is Trump, the real estate mogul who has a commanding delegate lead, responsible for that bump with unconventional candidacy?

U.S. Proposes Tough New Sanctions On North Korea — With China's Support

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PST

In the wake of North Korea's nuclear weapons test last month and its long-range missile test in early February, the U.S. and China have agreed on a draft U.N. resolution imposing new sanctions on Pyongyang. North Korea is already under a raft of international sanctions, but the new proposal would tighten them and impose new bans.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power tells NPR's Robert Siegel that the resolution, submitted Thursday to the Security Council, "is nearly unprecedented in many respects and is the toughest sanctions resolution that has been put forward in more than two decades." A vote is expected in the coming days.

The proposed resolution includes imposing mandatory inspection of all cargo leaving or entering North Korea and a ban on the sale of all small arms and other conventional weapons to North Korea. It also limits or bans certain exports and prohibits supplying North Korea with aviation fuel, including rocket fuel.

China is North Korea's most important ally and historically has opposed punishing the regime. But it has given support to past Security Council resolutionsimposing sanctions on Pyongyang.

Power notes that the relationship between the two countries has grown more complicated recently.

Sen. Jeff Sessions Changes the Trajectory of American Politics — and Perhaps American History

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 02:30 PM PST

To the catchy riff from Sweet Home Alabama, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) took the podium in Madison, Alabama, on Sunday afternoon and changed the trajectory of the 2016 Republican nomination fight—and perhaps also of U.S. history.

In becoming the first U.S. Senator to endorse Trump, Sessions, regarded as the gold-standard of immigration hawkery, declared, "Politicians have promised for 30 years to fix illegal immigration. Have they done it?" As the crowd shouted, No!, Sessions answered: "Donald Trump will do it."

Then Sessions added, "I've told Donald Trump this isn't a campaign, this is a movement."

Basking in Sessions' warm words, Trump himself bounded to the podium and echoed Sessions as he marveled, "There has never been anything like this in American politics; they call it a phenomenon." Yes, a phenomenon—that's what it is.

As is sometimes said of a new figure in politics, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Not surprisingly, Trump used the word "winning" many times in his remarks, but he also drilled down into specific detail.

Of course, he whaled on "illegal immigration." We might add that it wasn't that long ago that the word "illegal" was considered too politically incorrect for use in politics. But man, has it made a comeback.

And there was more—much more.

He took dead aim at the globalization that has looted Middle America.

GOP Smart Set: Let’s Start ‘Smart Set Party,’ Back Third-Party Candidate

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 02:00 PM PST

Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse says that he expects to "look for" a third-party candidate to challenge Donald Trump in the general election if Trump becomes the Republican nominee.

Sasse said in a lengthy Facebook post that he is a "movement conservative" but that he will not support either Trump or Hillary Clinton because "Trump's relentless focus is on dividing Americans."

"I sincerely hope we select one of the other GOP candidates, but if Donald Trump ends up as the GOP nominee, conservatives will need to find a third option," Sasse wrote.

"Given what we know about him today, here's where I'm at: If Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee, my expectation is that I will look for some third candidate – a conservative option, a Constitutionalist," Sasse continued.

"I do not claim to speak for a movement but I suspect I am far from alone.

Sick Of Political Parties, Unaffiliated Voters Are Changing Politics

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 01:30 PM PST

The biggest group of voters politicians will have to woo this November are the ones who often don't get a say in which candidates make into the general election ballot.

Turned off by the partisan wars in Washington, 39 percent of voters now identify themselves as independent rather than affiliated with one of the two major political parties, according to a 2014 analysis by the Pew Research Center. Self-identified Democrats accounted for 32 percent of the electorate, Republicans 23 percent.

That's a big shift from as recently as 2004 when the electorate was nearly evenly divided into the thirds by the three groups.

But many states require voters to affiliate with a party in order to take part in presidential primaries and caucuses.

NPR checked in with several member station reporters to see what the rise of independent voters means in different parts of the country.

How Bernie Sanders Could Win Super Tuesday ... Or Lose Really Badly

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 01:00 PM PST

Hillary Clinton goes into Super Tuesday with a 26-pledged delegate lead (91-65) over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. She also has a 433-superdelegate lead (453-20).

In crunching some numbers, an NPR analysis finds one very rosy scenario for Sanders in which he comes out with the majority of pledged delegates on Super Tuesday. This is considered unlikely, but it's his best possible day.

The analysis also shows close to Clinton's best day, including winning Colorado, Massachusetts and Oklahoma — all places Sanders is targeting. It gives Sanders big wins in Vermont and Minnesota.

That second scenario would give Clinton a 151-delegate win. So our range for Tuesday in pledged delegates appears to be something like Sanders plus-1 to Clinton plus-151.

Here are scenarios:

1. The Sanders win – 433-432

FEDS SEEK “MENTAL HEALTH” TESTING OF ALL CHILDREN, ADULTS

Next time you visit your doctor, be careful how you respond to his questions, or you may just be branded "mentally ill" and subjected to "treatment."

WASHINGTON, D.C. —
Next time you visit your doctor, be careful how you respond to his questions, or you may just be branded "mentally ill" and subjected to "treatment."

That is because a panel advising the Obama administration, in partnership with Big Psychiatry, wants to make doctors subject all American adults and children over age 12 to screening for alleged "mental health" disorders — particularly depression, at least to start with. Then, anyone found to harbor any alleged mental disorder, including children as young as eight, should undergo "therapy," often including powerful psychotropic medications that experts say have dubious value but often come with well-documented and highly dangerous side effects.

Study: Fox News Hits 3-Year Low for GOP Perception

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 12:00 PM PST

As of mid-February, the perception of Fox News Channel among conservatives was at a three-year low, YouGov BrandIndex reports.

The slide among Republican adults age 18 and older, coincided with the first GOP presidential debate hosted by Fox News in early August, when front-runner Donald Trump clashed with moderator Megyn Kelly. But less positive perceptions among the general population reaches back to May, according to YouGov BrandIndex.

The scale used by the firm, called a Buzz score, allows people to give scores ranging from 100 to -100, with zero being a neutral perception. Respondents are asked, "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?"

LEFTISTS PULL FIRE ALARM, BLOCK ENTRANCE TO STOP CONSERVATIVE FROM SPEAKING

Free speech is not so alive and well on campus. An attempt by conservative pundit, columnist and author Ben Shapiro to give a speech at California State University at Los Angeles resulted in loud, near violent protests, a pulled fire alarm, and Shapiro being escorted from campus after giving his speech.

The speech, titled When Diversity Becomes a Problem, was arranged by the Young America Foundation. It was canceled by the university in the name of diversity before being allowed to go ahead on Thursday afternoon. The decision didn't sit well with the organized campus left, who tried to storm the event to prevent Shapiro from speaking.

Ben Carson: Why I intend to stay in the race

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 10:30 AM PST

It seems like the only thing that's guaranteed in this year's election is the litany of punditry after every primary. This un-discussed industry has helped make politics more blood sport than democratic exercise.

It seems to get nastier at every turn, as campaign flacks dressed up as journalists line up to savage candidates whose campaigns they see as a threat to their preferred politician. Some have even gone so far as to question my faith, integrity or party loyalty because I won't kowtow to their demands to step away from the primary process.

Is this what has become of politics in the world's greatest democracy?

Whether establishment or outsider, conservative or moderate, a cottage industry has arisen around gaming and controlling the primary process. And that business is booming.

Unfortunately, these pundits have gotten too lost in the gladiatorial spectacle to see what truly matters: the will of "We the People" of America.

Maryland may see dispensaries, medical marijuana after vote

The latest move in Annapolis is that the House of Delegates has voted to broaden the type of health care providers who would be allowed to prescribe the drug.

Under the state law legalizing medical marijuana, only physicians can prescribe medical marijuana. But the House has voted to extend that authority to dentists, podiatrists and nurses.

Delegate Erek Barron, D-Prince George's County, says the idea makes sense.

"These additional practice groups are trusted and in a position to make that call for their patients," Barron says.

At least 10 Syrians suspected of war crimes have been found by Dutch authorities among refugees

Dutch authorities identified about 30 war crimes suspects, a third of them Syrians, among the 59,000 people who applied for asylum last year, the immigration minister said on Monday.

Klaas Dijkhoff released the data in a letter amid an increasingly heated debate over immigration, stoked by an increase in arrivals from war zones across the Middle East.

He was responding to questions from members of parliament, many of whom have been calling on the government to start sending back migrants who are suspected of atrocities, or break Dutch laws.

Ten of the suspects were from Syria and the rest from Eritrea, Sudan, Nigeria, Georgia and other countries, he added, without going into further details.

Today's Poll Question 3-1-16

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 08:30 AM PST

Do you believe anything Warren Buffett says?

A Letter to Editor 3-1-16

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 08:15 AM PST

Editor:

Are you aware that the MD General Assembly is currently in session? Included in this year's crop of mandaters are Democrat Delegates Angel, Cullison, and Pena-Melnyk who have introduced HB1178 "Requiring the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in cooperation with the State Board of Education and the Statewide Advisory Commission on Immunizations, to adopt regulations requiring that before a child enters ninth grade, the child has received a specified number of doses of human papillomavirus vaccine" .
These Democrat delegates purport themselves to be champions of LGBT rights, social justice and Planned Parenthood's slogan of "A woman's right to choose", NOT so much for a family's right to choose. The proposed legislation is nonsexist and therefore requires all children to suffer an unknown number of doses of such a vaccine.

Do you have children, grandchildren, nieces and/or nephews? Are you aware that the American College of Pediatrics has published a report detailing its concerns with this vaccine? (http://www.acpeds.org/the-college-speaks/positionstatements/health-issues/new-concerns-about-the-human-papillomavirusvaccine)

I have requested my elected representatives to let me know what their positions are on this mandate, but have received no replies.

Does anyone besides me remember THALIDOMIDE?

Ohio Pastor Shot, Killed on Sunday at His Church

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 08:00 AM PST

An Ohio pastor with deep roots in the Dayton community was shot and killed at his church Sunday, and police have taken his brother into custody for the slaying.

Dayton police say 70-year-old William B. Schooler was shot around 12:30 p.m. while in his office at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church. Despite early witness accounts, police say Schooler was not in the pulpit when he was attacked.

His brother, 68-year-old Daniel Gregory Schooler, was in Montgomery County jail Sunday. Police Sgt. Richard Blommel says he'll face a murder charge Monday.

Drone-Mounted Handgun, Flamethrower Reignite Lawmaker Debate

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 07:30 AM PST

The quiet whirring of the drone's propellers gives way to the sound of gunshots — pop, pop, pop, pop — in the 14-second video titled "Flying Gun."

The YouTube video of a drone-mounted handgun firing rounds into the Connecticut woods — and a companion video of a flying flamethrower lighting up a spit-roasting Thanksgiving turkey — have reignited efforts by state legislators to make it a crime to weaponize an unmanned aerial vehicle.

While the Federal Aviation Administration mulls regulations on drones, a number of states have established their own rules — though most of them focus on drone-mounted cameras as threats to privacy and security. Connecticut would be one of the first to restrict how drone owners can modify their craft into potentially dangerous weapons.

Army Corps To Conduct Emergency Inlet Dredging After Recent Storms

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 07:15 AM PST

OCEAN CITY — The federal Army Corps of Engineers late this week is expected to begin an emergency dredging of the Ocean City Inlet that shoaled in even further during Winter Storm Jonas in late January although a long-term solution has not yet been reached.

An already challenging shoaling problem in the Inlet was exacerbated during Winter Storm Jonas in January, forcing the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) to begin an emergency dredging project scheduled to begin on Friday.

While the Inlet and other channels in and around the mouth of the commercial harbor naturally fill in and are in need of continual maintenance dredging, the problem has become more acute in recent years to the point it is now curtailing commercial and recreational activity out of Ocean City. While the Army Corps and its state and local partners, including Worcester County and the town of Ocean City, are still exploring a long-term solution, an emergency repair is set to begin on Friday.

Why I Created #ObamaAndKids

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 07:00 AM PST

THURSDAY, February 18, 2016. The White House. Washington, DC.President Barack Obama was about to enter the room, when I noticed a young boy standing next to me, dressed in a jacket and tie, looking to get to the front of the crowd. This would be the last Black History Month celebration at The White House during the presidency of the first African-American in the history of The United States to hold the highest office in the land. When I asked the young boy if he needed help, he turned to me, and with a smile, he kept it moving, with his mother behind him, he led her around the various adults in his way, ultimately disappearing into the crowd in front.

Historical, this event would become. Not because of any major announcement the President or The First Lady would make from the podium, but because of a photo of that young boy, dressed in a jacket and tie, that would capture the attention of the world. They ultimately got to the front, standing against the rope that separated, by only a few feet, the audience from Barack and Michelle.

When the President finished his speech, he came down to the rope-line to greet the invited guests, and eventually arrived at the feet of the young boy. The President reached out to touch the boy's face, and the remarkable White House photographer Pete Souza, did what he does best; snapped another iconic photograph of President Obama and a child who innocently knows nothing of the importance of that moment.

How Vice's new cable network plans to revolutionize TV and bring back millennials

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 06:53 AM PST

Vice finally has a television playland — something it has been working on for a few years now.

On Monday, Viceland launches with the goal of bringing millennials back to TV or squeezing out the final millions who found their way to the aging machine and converting them to users of the media brand's other platforms.

Why TV when its millennial audience is dipping in viewership? Vice co-creator Shane Smith wasn't going to miss out on the money Vice could be making now, because, as he put it, "75% of the world's advertising budget" is still being used on TV.

"Why don't I get that 75% while all these other guys who don't know what the f--k they're doing are getting it?" he asked the Hollywood Reporter in a recent cover interview laden with profanity.

The Viceland deal is full of new ideas, but network partner A+E sees it as a worthy gamble since the channel it's transitioning, H2, wasn't doing well anyway.

In many ways, Viceland is not following the standard protocol for a TV network. And, that's the intention.

Here are five ways Viceland is breaking the TV industry's rules:

A Viewer Writes: Delmarva Power Bills

I just noticed an interesting fact, when reviewing my electric bill.

They no longer put "meter readings, start and finish" on your bill.

There is no way for the consumer to actually verify usage.

They simply put how many kWh they claim you used.

How is this legal and how did the PUC allow for this farce to take place?

Displaced Worker Dishes Dirt on Disney's H-1B Layoffs

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 06:23 AM PST

Last spring, Leo Perrero, an American information technology worker at Walt Disney World, was given an ultimatum: either leave his job that day without pay, or train his foreign worker replacement for the next 90 days to get a severance package.

Perrero told the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest in Wednesday's hearing on the impact of high-skilled immigration on U.S. workers that his story is not the exception. In late fall 2014, Disney executives told Perrero and hundreds of his fellow IT workers employed at the company's Orlando park that they would be losing their jobs and training foreign workers who would replace them in three months.

"That day, 20 years of hard work, a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, and an IT job for Disney were all over when my team, along with hundreds of others, were displaced by a less-skilled foreign work force imported into our country using the H-1B visa program," said Perrero, a 10-year employee with Disney.

Perrero, a father, said he was forced to choose between providing for his family and stay on to train his replacement, or quitting instantaneously to symbolically stand up for Americans' being displaced by cheaper labor.

Texas Cops near Border Rallying Around ‘In God We Trust’

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 06:15 AM PST

EDINBURG, Texas — The motto of "In God We Trust" continues to spread among Texas law enforcement agencies in this border area. Two of the most active agencies in the area have now placed the decals on their patrol vehicles in what they are calling a rallying point for all law enforcement.

The first police agency to use the logo in this area was the San Juan Police Department, which placed the motto in dark blue letters on their patrol cars late last year.

Now the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is placing the motto on the patrol cars of any deputy who wants it.

"I saw it as more of a sign of solidarity with all law enforcement," Sheriff Eddie Guerra said in an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas. "It was to help more toward unifying all our brothers in blue, a message that says we all stand united."

Air Force Shelves A-10 Retirement Plan until Next Decade

Posted: 01 Mar 2016 05:30 AM PST

The U.S. Air Force has given up on trying to retire the A-10 Thunderbolt ground attack aircraft at least until 2022 and likely well beyond, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter told the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday.

After repeatedly losing the battle with Congress over continued funding for the aircraft, Carter said that the fiscal 2017 proposed budget for the Pentagon was putting off the next fight over retiring the aircraft known as the "Warthog" to generations of ground troops until 2022.

Even then, Carter said the Air Force and the Defense Department would approach sending the A-10s to the "boneyard" for outdated aircraft carefully, given the aircraft's strong performance in Iraq and Syria and likely continued support in Congress unless there is a radical makeover in the membership.

Committee members possibly assumed that keeping the A-10s in the Air Force fleet was a given. Carter was not asked about the aircraft but addressed the issue in his prepared remarks.

"We're pushing off the A-10's final retirement until 2022 so we can keep more aircraft that can drop smart bombs on ISIL," Carter said, referring to another acronym for ISIS.
