Pat Buchanan: GOP Elites Not Attending Convention Because Trump’s 'Insurrection' Against Romney/Ryan Wing on Trade, Immigration, Foreign Policy Succeeded

Conservative commentator and former GOP presidential candidate Pat Buchanan argued this weekend that GOP elites who represent the globalist wing of the party will not attend this year's convention because Donald Trump's insurrection against them on trade, immigration, and foreign policy has succeeded.

When host Michael Smerconish mentioned on his Saturday CNN program that the party's last two Presidents—George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush—and presidential nominees—Mitt Romney and John McCain—will not be attending this year's convention in Cleveland, Buchanan said the reason the elites and the "leadership of the party and the old leadership of the party is not showing up is because Donald Trump, the nominee, is conducting an insurrection against those individuals and against the policy they produced, on trade, immigration and foreign policy."

"If Donald Trump wins this election, he is going to take the country in a new direction," he said. "He's running an insurrection against the political, corporate, and media elites in Washington, D.C., and he's running an insurrection against the Republican elites, and he has succeeded."

Poll: Majority In Germany Wants Repatriation of Government Powers From EU

A poll in Germany shows just under two-thirds of voters want the European Union (EU) to return responsibilities to national governments.

The results of the Emnid survey of 1,000 eligible voters, published today by German television news channel N24, show 62 per cent of respondents want EU member states to become more powerful.

In what is either a refusal to accept the situation, or a position informed by previous plebiscites in the EU, the survey also found that a third of Germans believe Brexit will never happen — rising to 45 per cent of respondents under the age of 30 — irrespective of the outcome of the UK's referendum in June which called for that.

In saying so they contradict Chancellor Angela Merkel (pictured) who, as Breitbart Newspreviously reported, has publicly stated that thinking the British decision is reversible is mere "wishful thinking".

While Hillary Clinton spent 4 hours in the FBI's company this weekend, Democrats set about one of the most difficult tasks they could possibly engage in, to convince the general public that Hillary is in any way honest and trustworthy.

The 'trust Hillary' talking point has begin to be heavily injected into public appearances and media outings by Democrats, presumably at the behest of party leaders who know that the American people, and even Hillary's most staunch supporters, know she has built a career on deceit.

Sen. Sherrod Brown and Labor Secretary Tom Perez, both in the running as potential VP picks, appeared on Sunday news shows and made efforts to convince viewers that Hillary is honest.

Brawl at family event at North Carolina country club leaves one man dead and multiple people shot, stabbed and beaten

A massive brawl at a family event in North Carolina has left one man dead and several others who were either shot, stabbed or beaten hospitalized in serious condition.

Authorities responded to the brawl that broke out during a private party at the Lakewood County Club clubhouse in Salemburg around 2.30am and found several groups of people fighting.

'Responding deputies discovered several groups fighting upon their arrival and attempted to break up the fights,' a statement from the Sampson County Sheriff's Office said.

Three people were shot, one person was stabbed and two people were beaten during the massive fight, the sheriff's office said.

One victim, Anthony King, of Roseboro, died a few hours later from the injuries he sustained in the shocking incident.

What's Next for the College Snowflakes?

This past school year, colleges and universities saw some of the most embarrassing displays of student and faculty behavior ever witnessed in modern history.

Bolstered by a grievance culture that promotes victimhood, campus protesters demanded "safe spaces" from ideas they disagreed with and "trigger warnings" on readings that might make them uncomfortable. They accused those whose comments might seem slightly insensitive of committing "micro-aggressions."

They commanded their college administrations to change the names of buildings by judging past actions by today's standards. They protested speakers who they found controversial and they labeled as "hate speech" anything they found objectionable.

It was a year of humiliation for institutions of higher education, which found administrators giving in to the absurd and petty demands of the students they were supposed to be preparing for life as adults.

At Lebanon Valley College, students wanted to change the name of the "Lynch Memorial Building" because of the the word "lynch." It didn't matter that "Lynch" obviously referred to the name of a person — these special snowflakes couldn't handle seeing the word without his first name attached.

At Columbia, students requested a trigger warning to accompany Ovid's "Metamorphoses" because it contained a passage alluding to the rape of the Greek goddess Persephone.

The thinking, as it goes, is that anyone in the classroom who might have been raped (or a low-income student or student of color, according to the students who demanded the warning) would be traumatized if they were not adequately prepared for what they were about to read.

So how did we get here?

Foster Friess, a billionaire who donates generously to the Republican Party, said in a letter to supporters that Donald Trump deserves the backing of the evangelical community because God, throughout biblical history, has always tapped the imperfect to work his perfect will.

"[A]ll throughout history," he wrote, "God has harnessed imperfect people to fulfill his perfect will. King David sent Bathsheba's husband, Uriah, off to the front lines in hopes he would be killed so David could play cozy with the guy's wife."

He went on, saying he thought even the most "principled evangelical Christian woman" ought to support Trump, even if she had concerns about his morals and past indiscretions, the Washington Examiner reported. And, he reminded, "You and I are changing and so is Donald Trump," the newspaper reported.

Why Does the European Union Insist On 'Free Movement'?

In his Bloomberg News column lamenting British voters' decision to leave the European Union and speculating on whether it could be reversed, British-born Clive Crook also (and more interestingly) challenged German Chancellor Angela Merkel's insistence that the "four freedoms" proclaimed by the European Union, including freedom of movement from country to county, are indivisible. "The price of access to the single market means freedom of movement," Merkel said.

Nonsense, Crook replies. "This position makes no substantive sense. The indivisibility of the four freedoms is a mere assertion — a preference, not a requirement of fairness or logic."

It's a point I hadn't thought of and it's indisputably true: you can rip down tariffs and trade barriers and still not allow foreigners to immigrate into your country. This is basically what the United States did in the 20 years after World War II.

So where does "freedom of movement" come from?

If laughter is the best medicine, then someone ought to take a copy of UNC's "microaggression" guidelines to every hospital in America! The memo, brainchild of the University of North Carolina's Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, is a new low for a politically correct movement that's already God's gift to late-night comedy. What is microaggression, you ask? It's defined as "brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, and environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative racial, gender, sexual orientation and religious slights and insults to the target person or group."

Gone are the days of simple, run-of-the-mill PC. According to UNC, even golf is on par with bigotry! Asking someone to hit the fairway is anything but, officials argue, because it "assumes employees have the financial resources/exposure to a fairly expensive and inaccessible sport." Well, guess what? College is expensive and inaccessible for some too. Should we stop talking about it too? Welcome to the new normal, where even saying "you guys" is discouraged for being "binary" (which must offend... computers?).

Have we really reached this level of lunacy on college campuses? Believe it, say conservative students. This kind of hypersensitivity is overtaking higher education, but rarely in a form as ridiculous as Chapel Hill's. Not only did the taxpayer-funded guide take a swing at the PGA, but there's even a Claus about Santa. As far as the PC police at UNC is concerned, employees should discourage references to Christmas or any holidays that center around the "Christian faith and minimizes non-Christian spiritual rituals and observances." Uttering the words "Christmas vacation" (sorry, Chevy Chase) is incredibly taboo. (I don't know what macroaggression means, but somebody better warn the Easter Bunny.) Telling a female employee "I love your shoes!" is apparently more insulting than calling them ugly. And the list goes on.

"'How did you get here?' constitutes a national origin microaggression because it acknowledges that some 'immigrants get to this country illegally,' while asking 'Where are you from?' implies that 'you are not American and do not belong to this community.'" By all means, never ask someone to "Please stand up and be recognized," since, the school explains, it "assumes that everyone is able in this way and ignores the diversity of ability in the space." Then of course, there are the more routine warnings -- such as avoiding such oppressive gender stereotypes as "husband/wife" "boyfriend/girlfriend." But above all, make sure you have some sexually confused friends, because not knowing people who identify as gay or lesbian is offensive. "I don't know any LGBTQ people," campus officials insist, "means that the person you are talking to must 'openly declare' their gender identity and sexual orientation in order for you to 'care about LGBTQ issues.'"

America's Dangerous Outcome-based Culture Threatens Liberty

A pernicious culture that prioritizes preferred outcomes over the means used to achieve those outcomes has emerged as a dangerous threat to liberty.

Americans are increasingly dismissive of constitutional protections on liberty and limits on federal power that stand in the way of reaching their desired ends.

Whether it's free speech, religious freedom, due process, or checks on executive power, Americans are willing to disregard them if they can get what they want out of government.

This sad reality has played out most recently with the debate over barring individuals on the terrorist watch list from purchasing guns. On the surface, it seems like a no-brainer to prevent terrorists from buying weapons. The problem is that being on the no-fly list, which contains 81,000 names, does not necessarily mean somebody is a terrorist. There are no clear standards for placing somebody on the list and no fair way to appeal inclusion on the list.

Throughout the Bush administration, Democrats condemned the erosion of civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorism, including the use of lists.

But because they want to look at any angle possible to restrict gun ownership and are looking to score election-year points, they have thrown such concerns out the window.

Injured bald eagle rebounds to fly again

WASHINGTON — A bald eagle found injured in a backyard in Potomac, Maryland, has beaten the odds and is flying in the skies again over the D.C. area.

It was back in March that the bald eagle named "Trust" was found at a home on River Road. She was named by the two Montgomery County police officers who helped capture the frightened bird that was unable to take flight after it is believed she was hit by a car.

The bird was taken to the Owl Moon Raptor Center in Boyds, Maryland, where it was determined the eagle had a fractured bone in its wing.

"The bone was fairly displaced, so we were worried about the ability for her to fly again," said Suzanne Shoemaker of Owl Moon Raptor Center.

BALTIMORE —One of the issues stalling negotiations over a new Baltimore Police Department union contract is the issue of officer trial boards and whether civilians should have a say in discipline cases.

A citizens group is planning a rally for this week in front of City Hall.

Following Freddie Gray's death and the riots and unrest in Baltimore last year, lawmakers in Annapolis, as part of a package of police reform laws, allowed civilians to be members of trial boards for police officer discipline.

In Baltimore, that can only happen if the police union agrees to reverse a provision in its contract with the city that does not allow citizens to review such cases.

"They've policed themselves and we know they can't police the city well, let alone police themselves, so at this point in time, we are looking for change," activist Kim Trueheart said.

Girl Calls 911 When Dad Passes Out In Car; NJ Police Find Vodka

CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. (AP) — Police say a 4-year-old New Jersey girl called 911 to report her father had passed out in their car.

Cliffside Park police say 41-year-old Jamil Graham, of Englewood Cliffs, was charged with child endangerment, being under the influence of alcohol and several motor vehicle offenses. Police say a half-full bottle of vodka was found in the car.

Authorities say the girl called 911 at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers tracked the cellphone signal to find Graham's car.

Was TWA Flight 800’s fiery crash part of a massive cover-up?

On Wednesday, July 17, 1996, at 8:19 p.m., TWA Flight 800 took off from JFK airport and headed out over Long Island toward Paris. It was a perfect summer night, 70 degrees, the sky clear.

Twelve minutes later, TWA 800 exploded mid-air, killing all 230 people on board. The crash was close enough to the coast that plane wreckage washed up on Suffolk County beaches for weeks.

"There was a wall of flame 30 feet high," Suffolk County police officer Vincent Termine, who witnessed the explosion, told the Independent in 1997. He said it looked like the ocean was on fire.

Hillary Clinton: Too big to jail

FBI Director James Comey's recommendation Tuesday that Hillary Clinton escape federal prosecution for exposing our national security infrastructure means the Obama administration's politicization of the entire federal government and the system of justice is complete.

For all of Comey's scripted thoroughness, the net result of the FBI investigation is that Clinton failed in her most basic responsibility to protect U.S. secrets, but rather than recommend prosecution, Comey chose a cowardly path by giving Attorney General Loretta Lynch the OK not to pursue the case further.

It is inconceivable that General David Petraeus could be prosecuted and convicted for disseminating classified information due to his mishandling of classified information by providing it to his biographer who had clearance to read classified information. Somehow the same FBI and the Obama Justice Department were able to prosecute that case where the information never made it into the public domain, yet cannot find the political will to prosecute Clinton whose recklessness dwarfed Petraeus' mistake.

The FBI admitted that Hillary Clinton had a minimum of fifty-two classified email chains passing through her unclassified server, a breach of massive proportions due to her negligence. Yet the FBI believes the Hillary is too big to prosecute effectively taking off Lady Justice's blindfold, leading her to the basement of the J. Edgar Hoover Building and executing her.

When I was young, America still existed. No more. Not even the blather from the 4th of July can hide the obvious fact.

The young do not know that they have lost their country, because they are born into a time when the country is lost. To them that is normalcy.

Besides, the young are too busy texting and describing themselves, often intimately, on social media to be aware of the fate that awaits them, lost as they are in their insouciance.

When I was young, the police were the public's friends. We could count on them to help us, not abuse us. False arrest was rare. Abuse of citizens even rarer. Today both are routine.

Over the years I have written about the transformation of the police from protectors of the public into abusers of the public.

'If there was a schedule that was created that was her Secretary of State daily schedule, and a copy of that was then put in the burn bag, that ... that certainly happened on ... on more than one occasion,' Abedin told lawyers representing conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, according to the New York Post.

While Clinton admitted to deleting personal emails from her homebrew server, this is the first time anyone in Clinton's State Department inner circle admitted to destroying public records while on the job.

Newspaper Publisher Thrown in Jail Over Open Records Fight — Read the Indictment

A rural North Georgia journalist was indicted on a felony charge and jailed overnight last week, all for filing an open-records request.

Mark Thomason, publisher of the Fannin Focus, a local paper, and his attorney Russell Stookey were jailed Friday of last week and charged with identity fraud and attempted identity fraud. Additionally, Thomason was accused of lying in his open-records request.

According to the Atlantic-Journal Constitution, Thomason's pursuit of public records relating to the local Superior Court angered Brenda Weaver, the court's chief judge who also chairs the state's Judicial Qualifications Commission. Frustrated by Thomason's actions, Weaver took the issue to the district attorney, who obtained the indictments.

Analysis: Red States Have Much Cleaner Air Than Blue States

The average red states' air is 10 percent cleaner than the average blue state, according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) data analyzed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The EPA data tracks average exposure to small particulates, which kill roughly 5.5 million people globally every year and cause most asthma. Particulate emissions have fallen by 35 percent since the year 2000, mostly in states that voted for Republicans.

The state with the cleanest air in America was Wyoming, which had a population-weighted average exposure to particulates of five. California's air was the nation's dirtiest, with an average weighted exposure of 12.5. The average red state had a weighted exposure of 8.31 while the average blue state had an exposure of 9.05. Adjusted for scale, this means that red states have air that is 9.87 percent cleaner than blue states.

The Clinton Foundation is "organized crime" at its finest. Here is a good, concise summary of how the Clinton Foundation works as a tax free international money laundering scheme. It may eventually prove to be the largest political criminal enterprise in U.S. history. This is a textbook case on how you hide foreign money sent to you and repackage it to be used for your own purposes. All tax free.

Here's how it works:

1. You create a separate foreign "charity." In this case, the Clinton's set it up in Canada.
.
2. Foreign oligarchs and governments, then donate to this Canadian charity. In this case, over 1,000 did -- contributing mega millions. I'm sure they did this out of the goodness of their hearts, and expected nothing in return. (Imagine Putin's buddies waking up one morning and just deciding to send untold millions to a Canadian
charity).
.
3. The Canadian charity then bundles these separate donations and makes a massive donation to the Clinton Foundation.
.
4. The Clinton Foundation and the cooperating Canadian charity claim Canadian law prohibits the identification of individual donor's.
.
5. The Clinton Foundation then "spends" some of this money for legitimate good works programs. Unfortunately, experts believe this is on the order of 10%. Much of the balance goes to enrich the Clinton's, pay salaries to untold numbers of hangers on, and fund lavish travel, etc. Again, virtually all tax free, which means you and I are subsidizing it.

6. The Clinton Foundation, with access to the world's best accountants, somehow fails to report much of this on their tax filings. They discover these "clerical errors" and begin the process of re-filing 5 years of tax returns.

7. Net result -- foreign money goes into the Clinton's pockets tax free and untraceable back to the original donor. This is the textbook definition of money laundering.

Oh, by the way, the Canadian "charity" includes as a principal one Frank Giustra. Google him. He is the guy who was central to the formation of Uranium One, the Canadian company that somehow acquired massive U.S. uranium interests and then sold them to an organization controlled by Russia. This transaction required U.S. State Department approval, and guess who was Secretary of State when the approval was granted.

As an aside, imagine how former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell feels. That poor schlep is in jail because he and his wife took $165,000 in gifts and loans for doing minor favors for a guy promoting a vitamin company. Not legal but not exactly putting U.S. security at risk.

Sarcasm aside, if you're still not persuaded this was a cleverly structured way to get unidentified foreign money to the Clinton's, asks yourself this:

Why did these foreign interests funnel money through a Canadian charity? Why not donate directly to the Clinton Foundation? Better yet, why not donate money directly to the people, organizations and countries in need?
.
This is the essence of money laundering and influence peddling.

Now you know why Hillary's destruction of 30,000 e-mails was a risk she was willing to take.

Collingswood, NJ Cops Will No Longer Interrogate Children For Saying 'Brownie'

Yesterday, I told you about the New Jersey elementary school that called the cops on a third-grader for saying the word "brownie", just because the whole class was eating brownies. Somehow, one of the other students deemed the word "brownie" to be racist hate speech and a matter for the police. And what's even worse: the cops actually responded.

A lot of other people made note of this story yesterday. It's amazing how quickly a little national attention can stop child abuse by public officials. Emma Platoff, Philly.com:

A controversial policy that required Collingswood public schools to call police for nearly every incident of student misbehavior has been "reversed," Mayor James Maley said.

The change comes after parents complained that their children, some as young as 7, were questioned by law enforcement for incidents such as roughhousing on the way to the cafeteria, allegedly making a racist comment at a third-grade class party, and a playground fight between two middle school boys.

JUST IN: Ex-National Guard member charged with plotting to help ISIS

McLEAN, Va. (AP) - A former National Guard soldier has been charged with plotting to help the Islamic State and contemplating a Fort Hood-style attack against the U.S. military.

Twenty-six-year-old Mohamed Jalloh of Sterling, Virginia, is expected to make an initial appearance Tuesday in federal court in Alexandria.

Court records made public Tuesday indicate Jalloh is a former member of the Army National Guard who says he quit after hearing lectures from radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

Good News For Seafood Lovers As Md. Crab Population Surges

A bountiful supply of blue crabs is not always guaranteed. But for waterman Sonny Norris — who owns Norris Seafood Market in Essex — his livelihood depends on it.

"I've been doing it all my life, and it's just up and down. It's just mother nature," said Norris.

A recent survey out of the Chesapeake Bay shows a surge in the crab population.

With more than 550 million this year, the new crab survey indicates that Maryland is up from 410 million last year, making it the fourth highest crab population in 20 years.

Armed Grandma: ‘I Decided That It’s Either Them or Me’

An armed grandma who confronted three suspects in her home said, "I decided that it's either them or me."

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in Boynton Beach, Florida.

According to CBS 12, a suspect began "banging" on the grandma's door and ringing her doorbell around 12:45 pm. Through the peephole she saw the suspect leave and return with "a T-shirt over his head" and she noticed he was "putting on gloves."

The grandma immediately moved toward her bedroom to retrieve her handgun and, as she did, the sound of breaking glass filled the house. She said, "It was really scary," and added, "I decided that it's either them or me, you know. I had to save my life."

FBI recommends no charges for Clinton over email system at State Department

WASHINGTON — The FBI recommended Tuesday that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton should not face criminal charges over her use of a private email server as secretary of State, even though she and aides were "extremely careless" in handling classified information.

While FBI Director James Comey criticized Clinton and her aides for carelessly handling classified, top-secret information, he said there is no evidence she intended to do so, the basis for criminal charges.

"Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information," Comey said in a 15-minute statement explaining the investigation, "our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."

Comey said his agency acted apolitically, and went where the facts took them. While, technically, the FBI makes recommendations to Justice Department prosecutors over potential charges, Attorney General Loretta Lynch has said she would accept the bureau's views in this case.

"In looking back at our investigations into mishandling of removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts," Comey said.

FBI Director James Comey announced Tuesday he will not recommend the Department of Justice seek criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her personal email use while secretary of state.

The decision helps remove what was arguably the biggest threat to her presidential campaign going forward – a criminal referral that could have led to an indictment – just weeks before her party's national convention in Philadelphia where she is set to seal her nomination as the Democrat standard bearer.

Clinton consistently had downplayed the FBI investigation, even calling it a "security review," and as recently as June 3 said there was "absolutely no possibility" she'd be indicted. Weeks ago, a scathing State Department inspector general report directly countered her long-running claim that her personal email use was allowed, though her campaign continued to defend the candidate's actions.

Army veteran saves bald eagle by shooting it out of a tree

An Army veteran is being credited with saving a bald eagle by shooting it out of a tree.

Jason Galvin was driving near his home in Minnesota when he saw the bird hanging upside down by a rope about 75 feet up.

After telling his wife Jackie, the couple decided something needed to be done so they started calling local officials.

According to Jackie, all of them gave the same answer, the bird had been stuck there for 2 and a half days and it was dead.

The Galvins believed the eagle was alive so Jackie encouraged her husband to shoot the rope the bird was tangled in.

Originating with a bumper sticker, "they've gone viral in the SEAL community," said Gill. "So we started making T-shirts, and we want to get the word out there what Hillary Clinton did."

Asked if the charge was too harsh, Gill did not back down:

She literally killed my friends, Ty Woods and Glenn Doherty. I've known Ty since 1997 and Glen since 2003. They were both good friends. Her actions led to their deaths. By denying multiple requests for the upgraded security at the outpost, it was attacked. Terrorists just literally pushed the gate open. They flooded that compound in ten seconds, took it over, and then they got killed because of her. If that consulate would have been hardened like it should have been, none of that would've happened.

WASHINGTON - No matter how the FBI investigation into the handling of sensitive information on Hillary Clinton's personal computer server ends, it likely will hurt her presidential bid.

If she is indicted, she will face further questions about her honesty and perhaps even calls for her to step aside. If she isn't indicted, as many legal experts predict, critics will accuse the Obama administration of letting her escape charges merely because they want her to win the White House.

Clinton was interviewed by the FBI Saturday for three-and-half hours at its headquarters in Washington, according to her campaign, suggesting the inquiry is nearing its end.

"Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was secretary," Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement. "She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion."

California's legislative hypocrisy a failure of democracy

This is just one of many bills Golden State politicians used this legislative session to set themselves apart from the little people, the ones who pay their inflated salaries. Annual compensation for legislators averages about $140,000, not counting luxurious perks such as taxpayer-funded cars and free gasoline. By comparison, the average Californian earns $50,000 a year, and the unemployment rate is 11.9 percent - far above the national average. Exact salaries for state assemblymen and senators are obscured by the use of a "per diem" payment scheme that shelters a significant chunk of income from taxation.

Attempts by a handful of reformers to require politicians to provide a full annual disclosure of the benefits received from the public treasury have been rebuffed. Currently, government officials must file a statement of economic interests revealing income from any source other than a local, state or federal government agency. Gifts worth more than $50 also must be disclosed, but lawmakers rejected a bill that would have prohibited acceptance of concert and sporting event tickets, gift cards, spa treatments, golf outings and other benefits from lobbyists trying to buy votes.

Bills of this nature never meet an honest fate in which roll-call votes put members on the record as favoring or opposing each idea. Instead, reform measures are held in committee to die quietly as legislative deadlines pass. As of last week, it's effectively impossible for a bill to become law if it hasn't already passed in at least one of the chambers.

Checkpoints are expensive, intrusive and they don't catch drunk drivers

A new report from AAA estimates that we had a record-breaking Fourth of July travel weekend.

But holiday revelry and jam-packed highways are rightly accompanied by stepped up law enforcement measures. And while getting stopped by a cop can put a real kink in your beach vacation, we all appreciate what police patrols do to keep us safe on the roadways.

That is, with the notable exception of sobriety checkpoints — those Soviet-style roadblocks in which any driver who wanders through is asked to stop and show their papers.

Putting aside the intrusive nature of these checkpoints (though it's an awful lot to put aside), there's the not insignificant fact that they don't actually catch drunk drivers. Instead, sobriety roadblocks inconvenience people trying to get from here to there by creating an artificial traffic jam. The cops manning the checkpoint give people tickets who aren't wearing their seat belts or have expired insurance — but seldom do they nab a dangerous drunk.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump says Hillary Clinton's campaign is "ridiculous" to portray an anti-Clinton tweet that appeared to depict the Star of David atop a pile of cash as anti-Semitic.

In a statement issued by his Republican presidential campaign Monday evening, Trump suggested Clinton and her allies were using the matter to distract from her own recent campaign troubles.

Trump said the tweet portrayed "a basic star, often used by sheriffs who deal with criminals and criminal behavior," as part of an effort to convey that "Crooked Hillary is the most corrupt candidate ever."

It was the presumptive GOP nominee's most extensive comment since his official account tweeted– then deleted — the image Saturday, sparking uproar over its potentially anti-Semitic connotations. Trump's account later posted a new version with a circle in place of the six-point star.

It remains unclear where the campaign found the image, but it previously appeared on a white supremacist message board filled with anti-Semitic messages as well as the Twitter feed of a self-identified comedian who tweeted provocative and offensive images.

BOMBSHELL… Legendary Columbia University Professor Claims That None of His Colleagues Remember Obama

It's been a rough week for Barack Obama, with The New York Times saying his administration has lost all credibility, the new EPA scandal, the new NSA scandal, etc. It seems to be all in a week's work for the President. Things are certainly unraveling quickly. In fact top Democrats are turning on the administration. Today Joe Manchin called for Eric Holder to resign.

Anyway I read a very interesting story in The Blaze tonight and I want to share a short excerpt. This piece was written by Wayne Allyn Root who is technically a former classmate of Obama's at Columbia, yet he and none of the professors seem to remember him. The Blaze reports:

I was put on Professor Graff's trail by another Columbia classmate, skeptical about Obama's story. He told me that Professor Graff had been the speaker for the Class of '53 last weekend at Columbia. My friend was watching Graff answer questions from the crowd when he was asked about Obama at Columbia. Graff said, "I have my doubts he ever went here."

I did some digging and located Graff's home phone number. I called him yesterday. Now retired, he was delighted to hear from me. He agreed to go on the record about Obama. Unlike Obama, Professor Graff clearly remembered me. He was thrilled to hear from his former student. I was in several of Graff's classes and he remembered me like it was yesterday. Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump told Maine supporters Thursday that "rivals" who failed to endorse him for president shouldn't be allowed to run in any future election.

"It was a rough campaign, and I wasn't nice, but they weren't nice either," Trump told supporters Thursday. Trump said those who ran against him but still haven't endorsed him were "really sore losers" who "only signed the pledge so I would do so as well."

Challenger: 'Paul Ryan to Blame for Importing TB to Wisconsin,' After 40 Percent Increase in 2015

"Paul Ryan is to blame for importing TB to Wisconsin, which increased 40 percent in 2015," his challenger Paul Nehlen tells Breitbart News.

Nehlen is running against Ryan in the Republican primary. It will be held on August 9 in Wisconsin's First Congressional District, which "encompasses Kenosha and Racine counties and portions of Milwaukee, Rock, Walworth and Waukesha counties."

"Paul has voted for every budget that has funded the federal refugee resettlement program, including the most recent 'Cromnibus Budget' he rammed through as Speaker," Nehlen adds.

"Federal taxpayers are paying resettlement agencies, like Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin, more than $1 billion per year to resettle refugees with high rates of active tuberculosis across the country, and Paul Ryan is responsible for that," Nehlen adds.

Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu said "violent crime has gone down in a lot of areas just because we can carry open, we can carry concealed and we don't need the permission of anyone in the government to do so."

In light of the terrorist attack in Orlando, in an appearance on Fox Business Network's "Your World" with guest host Sandra Smith on Friday, Babeu, "I've said to citizens in my county 'Don't be victims.' Get training, protect yourself, protect your family because there is not a cop on every street corner and every restaurant."

Report: Investigators Looking into Espionage Charges for Hillary

Clinton could be charged under the Espionage Act

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton could be charged under the Espionage Act for her actions in the ongoing email scandal, reports indicate.

According to McClatchy writer Nita Kumar, investigators may be examining whether or not the former secretary of state violated not only the Espionage Act but sections of Title 18 as well.

"Legal experts say investigators could be looking into potential violations of Section 1924 of Title 18, which deals with the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material, or even the Espionage Act, which makes it a crime for anyone 'through gross negligence,' to allow the loss, theft or removal of classified information or fails to promptly report such mishandling to his superior," Kumar writes.

The article notes that regardless of the case's outcome, a political fallout will likely ensue.

Hedge fund manager Marc Mezvinsky had friends in high places when he bet big on a Greek economic recovery, but even the keen interest of his mother-in-law, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, wasn't enough to spare him and his investors from financial tragedy.

In 2012, Mezvinski, the husband of Chelsea Clinton, created a $325 million basket of offshore funds under the Eaglevale Partners banner through a special arrangement with investment bank Goldman Sachs. The funds have lost tens of millions of dollars predicting that bailouts of the Greek banking system would pump up the value of the country's distressed bonds. One fund, exclusively dedicated to Greek debt, suffered near-total losses.

Clinton stepped down as secretary of state in 2013 to run for president. But newly released emails from 2012 show that she and Clinton Foundation consultant, Sidney Blumenthal, shared classified information about how German leadership viewed the prospects for a Greek bailout. Clinton also shared "protected" State Department information about Greek bonds with her husband at the same time that her son-in-law aimed his hedge fund at Greece.

We're Being Played by the Clintons

RUSH: Okay, folks, I'm gonna tell you what I think is actually going on here. I think we are being played in the standard, common, everyday way the Clinton team plays the American people. It has happened, I can't count the number of times, dating back to when Bill Clinton was in the White House.

Essentially what this is -- and the Lynch-Clinton meeting is the latest ingredient -- we're being set up for massive disappointment, depression, and dispiritedness. They're making it look like, and they have all along, very possible Hillary Clinton could be indicted. They are toying with us. They're dangling this carrot in front us. "This could be the time. This could be it when we finally get the Clintons once and for all."

They drag it out, and they do things like this meeting that apparently compromises the whole thing and jeopardizes the whole thing, release information on all the emails they're finding and Hillary's IT takes the Fifth 125 times. Ask yourself, how many times do people ask you, "Do you really think Hillary's gonna be indicted?" And they say it with anticipation and excitement. How many times do people ask you that? They ask me that all the time.

My answer, by the way, from the get-go has always been, "She's not gonna be indicted. There's no way it's gonna happen. You don't understand the Democrat Party and their use of power if you think their presidential nominee is gonna be indicted by an Obama DOJ. Ain't gonna happen."

But they got a lot of people thinking it will, and when she skates, they want you depressed, they want you down in the dumps, they want you giving up, they want you thinking there's no way you can win. They want you thinking they can get away with everything. That's the Clinton MO, and we are right smack-dab in the middle of another such play. Don't doubt me.

FBI Urges Law Enforcement Agencies to Withhold Orlando Attack Records

The FBI is imploring law enforcement agencies who responded to the recent massacre at the Orlando Pulse nightclub not to release records to the public, a written message from the agency reportedly shows.

A letter from the FBI, dated June 20, instructs the Seminole County Sheriff's Office on how to deal with records demands, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

It was reportedly attached to the City of Orlando's lawsuit over whether the recordings of the 911 calls linked to the terrorist attack at the hands of jihadist Omar Mateen should be made available to 25 media organizations, including the Sentinel.

According to the Sentinel, the Federal Bureau of Investigation letter urges agencies to deny inquiries and instructs departments to "immediately notify the FBI of any requests your agency received" so "the FBI can seek to prevent disclosure through appropriate channels, as necessary."
