Loretta Sanchez in the one-party California Senate race has triggered a testy intraparty feud that threatens to split the Democratic coalition along racial lines. Ms. Sanchez unloaded on the president last week after he endorsed her opponent, Attorney General Kamala Harris, then followed up by suggesting in a Spanish-language interview that race may have been a factor. "I think they have, what he said they have, is a friendship of many years. She is African-American, as is he. They know each other through meetings," Ms. Sanchez said in the Friday interview on Univision 19, as translated by the Los Angeles Times. | Americans think more than half of vets have mental problems, survey says Posted: 27 Jul 2016 08:00 PM PDT The general public vastly overestimates the number of post-9/11 veterans with mental health conditions, a misconception veterans advocates say threatens the overall well-being and employment prospects of former troops. A survey of more than 1,000 adults in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom found that roughly 40 percent believed more than half the 2.8 million veterans who have served since 2001 have a mental health condition. The actual figure lies somewhere between 10 percent and 20 percent, or 280,000 to just more than a half million, according to a Rand Corp. estimate. The recent survey, conducted by the George W. Bush Institute's Military Service Initiative, also found that while a majority of veterans say traumatic brain injury and combat-related mental health conditions are legitimate war wounds, 80 percent say embarrassment or shame is a barrier to seeking treatment. (Isn't it ironic they're doing so much to protect a site named after a bank?) I thought the Democrats were about building bridges, not building walls. Seems like that is a lie. The Democrat National Convention is being protected by several miles of fencing. This is to prevent the party elites from having to mingle with their political base. All the people who supported Bernie Sanders out of their contempt for the vile bitch Hillary Clinton will not be allowed to have their voices heard. I'm also certain that the former Bernie supporters who infiltrate the convention and protest this will be promptly removed. There is simply nothing democratic about the Democrat party. He acts in the most hateful, spiteful, malevolent, vindictive ways in order to manipulate & maintain power and control over others. Perhaps, because, as a child, he grew up harboring an abiding bitterness toward the U.S. instilled in him by his family & mentors. It is not the color of his skin that is a problem in America . Rather it is the blackness that fills his soul & the hollowness in his heart where there should be abiding pride & love for this country. Think: Have we ever heard Obama speak lovingly of the U.S. Or its people, with deep appreciation & genuine respect for our history, our customs, our sufferings & our blessings? Has he ever revealed that, like most patriotic Americans, he gets "goose bumps" when a band plays "The Star Spangled Banner," (no he gets goose bumps when he hears the ''Muslim call to prayer" (his words) or sheds a tear when he hears a beautiful rendition of " America the Beautiful?" Does his heart burst with pride when millions of American flags wave on a National holiday - or someone plays "taps" on a trumpet? Has he ever shared the admiration of the military, as we as lovers of those who keep us free, feel when soldiers march by? It is doubtful because Obama did not grow up sharing our experiences or our values. He did not sit at the knee of a Grandfather or Uncle who showed us his medals & told us about the bravery of his fellow troops as they tramped through foreign lands to keep us free. He didn't have grandparents who told stories of suffering & then coming to America , penniless, & the opportunities they had for building a business & life for their children. Away from this country as a young child, Obama didn't delight in being part of America and its greatness. He wasn't singing our patriotic songs in kindergarten, or standing on the roadside for a holiday parade & eating a hot dog, or lighting sparklers around a campfire on July 4th as fireworks exploded over head, or placing flags on the grave sites of fallen and beloved American heroes. Rather he was separated from all of these experiences & doesn't really understand us & what it means to be an American. He is void of the basic emotions that most feel regarding this country & insensitive to the instinctive pride we have in our national heritage. His opinions were formed by those who either envied us or wanted him to devalue the United States & the traditions & patriotism that unites us. He has never given a speech that is filled with calm, reassuring, complimentary, heartfelt statements about all the people in the U.S. Or one that inspires us to be better & grateful & proud that in a short time our country became a leader, & a protector of many. Quite the contrary, his speeches always degenerate into mocking, ridiculing tirades as he faults our achievements as well as any critics or opposition for the sake of a laugh, or to bolster his ego. He uses his Office to threaten & create fear while demeaning & degrading any American who opposes his policies & actions. A secure leader, who has noble self-esteem & not false confidence, refrains from showing such dread of critics & displaying a cocky, haughty attitude. Mostly, his time seems to be spent causing dissension, unrest, & anxiety among the people of America , rather than uniting us (even though he was presented to us as the "Great Uniter"). He creates chaos for the sake of keeping people separated, envious, aggrieved & ready to argue. Under his leadership Americans have been kept on edge, rather than in a state of comfort & security. He incites people to be aggressive toward, & disrespectful of, those of differing opinions. And through such behavior, Obama has lowered the standards for self-control & mature restraint to the level of street-fighting gangs, when he should be raising the bar for people to strive toward becoming more considerate, tolerant, self-disciplined, self-sustaining, & self-assured. Not a day goes by that he is not attempting to defy our laws, remove our rights, over-ride established procedures, install controversial appointees, enact divisive mandates, & assert a dictatorial form of government. Never has there been a leader of this great land who used such tactics to harm & hurt the people & this country. Never have we had a President who spoke with a caustic, evil tongue against the citizenry rather than present himself as a soothing, calming & trustworthy force. Never, in this country, have we experienced how much stress one man can cause a nation of people - on a daily basis! This is the furthest from the truth, as I turned to the FOXNEWS network and saw a video of Barack Hussein Obama making an announcement to the American People that it was IN FACT the Russians that supplied these DNC emails exposing hate and disgust with Sanders, Hispanics, LGBTQ's, and others. The Beauchamp Road property, which had carried E-1 estate zoning, will be reclassified as R-1 residential. Charles Nichols, whose family purchased the property in 2014, said the rezoning would allow the 950-acre property to be developed in a reasonable manner. "We're deeply involved in sustainable development," Nichols said. "We think we have an opportunity here not only to make a change but make something that's positive." Nichols said his family has owned the land adjacent to the defunct golf course since 1881. The family purchased the golf course property in 2014 when it was in foreclosure. Though the property needs some work, Nichols said the family was eager to improve it. "This would give us an opportunity to maximize the development potential in a good way," Nichols said. | Posted: 27 Jul 2016 01:30 PM PDT  William Argeros, 57, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the District of New Jersey to an information charging him with knowingly and willfully making foreign contributions and donations in connection with the 2012 presidential election and to a fundraising and political campaign committee of the president, aggregating $25,000 or more during a calendar year, and to knowingly making a false declaration before the grand jury concerning his role in facilitating and concealing the foreign contribution. Sentencing has been scheduled for Nov. 9, 2016, before Judge Arleo. According to his plea agreement, Argeros admitted that in September 2012, he facilitated the transfer of $80,000 from a foreign source to Bilal Shehu, a U.S. citizen residing in New Jersey. Shehu, in turn, provided it to a joint fundraising committee – including the authorized campaign committee of the president – in an effort to disguise the true origin of the money and so that a foreign national could attend a campaign event on Oct. 8, 2012, in San Francisco, according to Argeros's plea. Argeros also admitted to providing instructions to foreign individuals on how to transfer the money and provide payment to the joint fundraising committee. Federal law prohibits foreign nationals from making contributions to federal candidates or fundraising committees. Argeros also admitted that on Feb. 18, 2015, he falsely testified under oath that he did not participate in arranging the transfer of money to the joint fundraising committee before a grand jury in the District of New Jersey. On June 29, 2016, Shehu pleaded guilty to helping to funnel $80,000 in campaign contributions from a foreign source to the joint fundraising committee. | DNC Turns Women’s Restroom into ‘All-Gender’ Bathroom Posted: 27 Jul 2016 12:00 PM PDT Women's bathroom near media section reassigned to all genders PHILADELPHIA — The Democratic National Convention has turned a women's restroom into an "all-gender" bathroom at the Wells Fargo Arena. The all-gender bathroom is one of the ways the DNC is infusing its party platform into the arena accommodations. The arena also has a "gluten-free zone" and garbage cans are categorized by landfill, recycling, and compost. A DNC volunteer told the Washington Free Beacon that there is only one all-gender restroom to accommodate transgender individuals. The change leaves female convention goers with one fewer bathroom than male attendees. No transgender individuals were spotted using the restroom, but it was being used by both male and female reporters, as well as some cameramen. Parker has given a new name to journalistic larceny and should issue an apology to both Trump and the voters for her grossly misleading -- big lie!  Whatever happened to journalistic integrity? An undercover detective reached out to the girl and later learned she was 13 years old. | Excessive Force Lawsuit Filed Against OC Over 2013 Beach Melee Posted: 27 Jul 2016 10:30 AM PDT  Last Wednesday, nearly three years to the day of the July 2013 incident, Dalima Palmer, now 27, of Dumfries, Va., filed suit in U.S. District Court against the officer who allegedly tackled her to the ground while she was nine months pregnant during a brawl on the beach, two more OCPD officers who allegedly denied her medical attention while in police custody and other officers who remained in her hospital room at PRMC while she gave birth to her child via C-section. The suit also names the chief of police, the Town of Ocean City and Worcester County for alleged negligence in the hiring and training of the officers. The suit seeks $500,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages against the various defendants named in the complaint. The incident began around 2:30 p.m. on July 21, 2013 when Ocean City police responded to the beach at North Division Street for a reported group of disorderly males. The request for assistance came from an Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguard, who told police he had approached the group about playing soccer on the crowded beach, at which time one of the suspects allegedly threatened him. When OCPD officers attempted to speak with the suspect, identified as Abdul Kargbo of Woodbridge, Va., he began cursing and yelling at the officers and attempted to leave the scene. The victim complied and gave him one and then proceeded to walk towards Woodland Ferry Road. The suspect continued to follow the victim while talking on a cell phone and once again asked for another cigarette. Again, the victim handed the man a cigarette and walked away. Just prior to the little league park, the male suspect asked if he could have a dollar from the victim. The victim then pulled his wallet from his pocket when the suspect snatched the wallet from his hands. The victim then began fighting with the suspect before he fled back towards five points with the victim giving chase. The victim last observed the suspect running toward the Ram Deli before he lost sight of him. The victim was uninjured in this incident. Through various tips and investigative means, Devontae L. Massey, 24 of Laurel, was identified as the suspect who committed this crime. He is currently wanted for Robbery 2nd and Theft under $1,500.00, as well as Assault 3rd after an incident that occurred this morning, Wednesday July 27, 2016 around 4:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Inn (12036 Sussex Highway, Greenwood) when he assaulted a 29-year-old female in the parking lot and then fled prior to law enforcement arrival. | Global Warming Expedition Stopped In Its Tracks By Arctic Sea Ice Posted: 27 Jul 2016 05:00 AM PDT  The Polar Ocean Challenge is taking a two month journey that will see them go from Bristol, Alaska, to Norway, then to Russia through the North East passage, back to Alaska through the North West passage, to Greenland and then ultimately back to Bristol. Their objective, as laid out by their website, was to demonstrate "that the Arctic sea ice coverage shrinks back so far now in the summer months that sea that was permanently locked up now can allow passage through." There has been one small hiccup thus-far though: they are currently stuck in Murmansk, Russia because there is too much ice blocking the North East passage the team said didn't exist in summer months, according to Real Climate Science.
