Why Hillary needed a private email server Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:00 PM PDT A House panel grilled FBI Director James Comey on his decision not to recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server while secretary of state, but the congressmen never truly got to the bottom of Clinton's email scandal, according to the author of an explosive new book on the Clintons. New York Times bestselling author Jerome Corsi says the key question is this: Why did Secretary Clinton feel it was necessary to have her own private email server, off-line from the State Department's secure email server? The answer, he says, is provided in his new book, "Partners in Crime: The Clintons' Scheme to Monetize the White House for Personal Profit." "The crime partnership of Bill and Hillary Clinton had the perfect set-up with Bill heading the Clinton Foundation and Hillary appointed secretary of state," said Corsi, a WND senior staff writer. "The opportunity for the Clintons to enrich themselves was never greater with Bill positioned to solicit donations from those desiring favorable State Department policy decisions from Hillary." But this scam would not work if Hillary's State Department emails were available to be archived on the State Department system, thus subject to FOIA requests. According to Corsi, the scam required emails passing classified information to top officials in the Clinton Foundation as well as Teneo, a corporate advisory firm established by Clinton ally Doug Band. "With advance knowledge of U.S. foreign policy initiatives – including meetings being scheduled with foreign heads of state – the Clinton Foundation and Teneo could work overtime to make sure foreign operatives seeking favors knew where to send checks in their 'pay to play' scheme," Corsi explained. Zip line over Niagara Falls gorge set to open July 20 Posted: 15 Jul 2016 07:30 PM PDT NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – There's a new thrill penetrating the mist of the Horseshoe Falls – folks zip lining, 2,200 feet over the Niagara Gorge. WildPlay MistRider Zipline is on track to debut Friday, but staffers, their friends and family members began testing the ride over the weekend. The official grand opening/ribbon-cutting is scheduled for July 20. Lindsay DiCosimo, marketing manager of WildPlay MistRider, called the ride "phenomenal," with "spectacular views" of both the American and Horseshoe falls. "It's a completely different perspective for people," DiCosimo said. The ride at 5850 River Road in the Grandview Marketplace is accessed from an elevator outside the tower used by Hornblower Cruises. Riders – who must be at least 7 years old and weigh between 65 and 300 pounds – are escorted up to the launch tower and fitted into a paragliding harness before being hooked up to one of the four zip lines. With the Horseshoe Falls looming as backdrop, each line carries riders 2,200 feet into and over the gorge to another platform – the zip trip lasting about one minute. Shuttle vans return riders to the starting point. More Editor's note: Anyone brave enough to try this?

7-Eleven clerk disarms shotgun-wielding man Posted: 15 Jul 2016 06:30 PM PDT A shotgun-wielding man who ran into a 7-Eleven early Tuesday left empty-handed after a store clerk literally took the situation into his own hands, authorities said. The clerk was behind the register ringing up two customers at about 4 a.m. A man burst into the store at 7729 Sundays Lane, near Frederick, sidestepped the customers and leveled the shotgun at the clerk's face, store surveillance footage shows. As the customers stepped back, the armed man leaned closer to the clerk. The man wore a bandanna over part of his face and a dark hood over his head. The footage clearly shows him addressing the clerk and gesturing aggressively with the firearm toward the register. "[The man] pointed it at my employee and started screaming at my employee, screaming in his face, and [my employee] grabbed [the gun] and took it out of the guy's hands," said Abdul Ayub, who owns the store. "And the guy ran out of the store, so now the police have the gun and he didn't get anything." More

Health spending projected to hit $5.6 trillion in 2025 Posted: 15 Jul 2016 05:30 PM PDT Five trillion, six hundred and thirty one billion. Or 5,631,000,000,000. Or maybe just $5.6 trillion. Any way you write it out, it's a big number. That's how much will be spent on health care in the U.S. in 2025, up from $3.35 trillion this year, according to new estimates published Wednesday in Health Affairs, a medical journal. On the one hand, the 5.8 percent annual growth is lower than in previous years. On the other, it's well above projected gross domestic product growth. In the next decade, one out of every five dollars in the American economy will go to health care. "Projected national health spending growth, though faster than observed in the recent history, is slower than in the two decades before the recent Great Recession, in part because of trends such as increasing cost sharing in private health insurance plans and various Medicare payment update provisions," wrote the authors, who are economists in the Office of the Actuary of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore. Texas Most Wanted List Falsely Lists All Suspects As White Posted: 15 Jul 2016 04:30 PM PDT All of the fugitives featured on the Texas Most Wanted list are categorized as "White," but based on names, mugshots and gang affiliations, anyone can clearly see that all but one are actually Hispanic. The Bureau of Justice does not use the same criteria to categorize perpetrators as they do victims, when listing race and ethnicity. Perpetrators are listed in four racial categories: black, white, Asian and Native American. Hispanics are thrown into the "white" category. Victims are separated into four categories: black, white, Hispanic and other. More

BOOK REVIEW: Confessions of Congressman X Posted: 15 Jul 2016 03:37 PM PDT The building has a way of wooing even the most cynical person as it represents our government. Second only to the White House, it emulates our sense of the Constitution, puts us closer to our founding fathers... and now, unfortunately, corruption! Congressman X is a fast read, but the pages are packed with the disdain most representatives feel about we the people. Starting with adjectives as 'Sheeple,' 'Lazy,' and uninformed, it comes clear as glass exactly what the congressman (a senior Democrat) thinks about us. And in many respects, his thoughts are justified. Most people do vote on their party line rather than looking at candidates for proven track records and integrity. Perfect example is to look to our current election...Look at everyone rallying around Hillary Clinton - a person who is clearly unfit for the White House due to her criminality and blatant dishonesty about Benghazi, her emails and everything else in between. She's psychopathic yet, many support and believe the mythological called the Right Wing Conspiracy. We all know it's pure garbage yet, some of us don't want to believe she could every be so bad, they wouldn't want her moving next door much less leading the country. He comes right out and admits, he'll do anything or say anything to do his number one job, keep his position on the Hill. Cash is also king in DC. There's no splitting words about it. Therefore, when Donald Trump says he's not pandering to the Special Interest groups, he's in a very rare sliver of a minority. Everyone on the Hill passes legislature with a wink, smile and handshake loaded with pay to play money. Refreshingly, he doesn't parse words - he lays it on the line and tells it like it is. Much of congressman's confessions are nothing that most haven't suspected. In fact, I'd be very suspicious if he said the Congress was all merry men and women, looking to fulfill some Mr. Smith legacy. It's a good read and short, so you can get through it in an hour. Worth reading, because while it's a hard pill to swallow, much of what he says is true. It's up to us to stop voting for people based on the D and the R -- those who don't hold any values and quick looking for the next quick fix. Those quick fixes only yield nonsense, waste, abuse and most fail from oversight. Didn't your parents every tell you there's no such thing as a good short-cut? The instant gratification voters along with big special interest donors dictating law are the reasons our Republic has suffered many blows. This book provides us with a cautionary tale; its time for voters to start looking and thinking outside-the-box and quit yammering about nonsensical things that are minutia in regards to the big picture items. Give it a read, you won't be disappointed - well, you will be disappointed but only in yourself... --TC Note: A special thank you to the reader whom recommended this read. It did not disappoint.

Untreated Maryland groundwater carries 'very high' risk of lead contamination, USGS finds Posted: 15 Jul 2016 02:30 PM PDT Untreated groundwater in Maryland and almost a dozen other states carries a "very high" risk of being so corrosive that it could contaminate drinking water, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Officials warn the groundwater being pumped to homes through wells could leach lead from pipes. About 1 million people on Maryland rely on wells for their water — about one in six state residents. While water that flows through county or municipal treatment plants or pipes is subject to lead testing, water from wells is not. The review is the first nationwide examination of the corrosivity of groundwater, prompted by the lead contamination of drinking water in Flint, Mich., the study's lead author said. More

A Viewer Writes: There Are Suckers Born Every Day Posted: 15 Jul 2016 01:48 PM PDT This kid seen making money for the officers shot in Dallas by way of a drink stand told me a different story. Well, his mom did. The kid didn't speak much at all. They informed me they had a daughter in the house who was extremely sick and contagious with some sort of illness. And this young man wanted to buy a get well present for his sister. Mom then says money's tight and every little bit helps. So I quickly reach for a $10 bill an tell them God bless. Later in the evening I see the same little boy posing with Mike Lewis and Baker and the caption is about this kid raising money for the Dallas Police victims. I'm like what the hell? Is this kid, really mom who's doing all the talking, scamming folks? And now this post is on Facebook I wonder how many people will run to help support this cause and the boy? How much money will be raised and will it actually go where it belongs? How many other people have been told a different story? Beware when donating folks!

The Clinton Foundation Owns The FBI Posted: 15 Jul 2016 12:00 PM PDT Representatives now contemplating investigation of FBI director Comey The Clintons have used the foundation to enrich themselves. Documents disclosed through litigation by Judicial Watch "provided a road map for over 200 conflict-of-interest rulings that led to at least $48 million in speaking fees for the Clintons during Hillary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state. Previously disclosed documents in this lawsuit, for example, raise questions about funds Clinton accepted from entities linked to Saudi Arabia, China and Iran, among others." Behind a Bill Clinton speaking engagement: A $1,400 hotel phone bill and $700 dinner for two Posted: 15 Jul 2016 11:45 AM PDT When former presidents and other dignitaries traveled to California to wax nostalgic on the speaking circuit, they may have been demanding, but none insisted on being flown from San Francisco by private jet to a venue just 70 miles down the freeway. That was before Bill Clinton came along. Clinton changed the rules of political speech-making for cash. He would push not just corporate hosts but also nonprofits and universities to pay fees well beyond what they were accustomed to. His aides would turn what had been a freewheeling format into tightly scripted events where every question from the audience was screened. He and Hillary Clinton would become so skilled at churning profits out of their lectures that they would net more than $150 million from speaking alone after he left the White House. Contracts and internal emails connected to half a dozen speeches Clinton gave in the Bay Area soon after departing the White House offer a glimpse into the unusual demands and outsize expense reports associated with bringing him to town. The events took place as part of a speaker series sponsored by the Foothill Deanza Community College District, another by UC Davis and another run by a for-profit firm. The community college hosted him again in 2012. The documents became public through an open-records request filed by the Republican National Committee amid a presidential race in which the lucrative speaking fees paid to the Clintons are being closely examined. They show a former president who deftly avoided discussing past scandals by refusing questions that were not screened by his staff in advance. There is the nearly $1,400 bill for a day's worth of phone calls from San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel and the $700 dinner for two. And they also show that an agency representing Clinton continued to pursue a deal with an event host who emailed a racist remark about audiences and jokingly referred to the male aides Clinton traveled with as his mistresses. The Story Behind Maryland’s Underwater Island Is Truly Heartbreaking Posted: 15 Jul 2016 11:30 AM PDT Maryland has dozens of islands, a few of which we've previously discussed here. What many Marylanders don't know is that there are also a few islands that once existed, but due to erosion, now lie in a watery grave in the Chesapeake Bay. Holland Island is one of these fascinating and haunting places. The story behind this underwater island in Maryland will leave you with intrigue and a bit of sadness. At one point in its history, Holland Island was home to around 300 residents. Watermen flocked to this area with their families to take advantage of the fishing opportunities of the bay. Years later, erosion began to take hold of the island. The families moved their homes further inland but it was no use. There is no fighting Mother Nature. The shoreline began to lessen year by year, until families were forced to move. Parts of the now abandoned island became completely submerged until one house was left standing. More
Obama tramples on high ideals of America, fuels Black Lives Matter racism Posted: 15 Jul 2016 11:15 AM PDT There can be no dispute that Barack Obama was forced to wade through unprecedented bigotry in his speedy ascent to the most powerful perch in the world. His predecessor, George W. Bush, called it the "soft bigotry of low expectations." A street hustler with sterling academic bona fides — which are always suspect — Mr. Obama had never accomplished a single thing as a politician when he decided to run for president. In his 2008 campaign, he was most admired for not voting to invade Iraq — a vote that took place years before he joined the U.S. Senate. Yet not even one year into his presidency, and while directing two hot wars, Mr. Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy between peoples." He was heralded in particular for his unparalleled success in the Muslim world. Indeed, the soft bigotry of low expectations exists nowhere so virulently as in the whitest confines of Nordic lands and elite American academia. More

Obama Never Met With His Defense Intelligence Chief Posted: 15 Jul 2016 11:00 AM PDT President Barack Obama twice appointed former Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn to key national security jobs in his administration, including as deputy director of national intelligence and later as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, yet he never once met with Flynn face to face. The general, who spent 33 years in the intelligence field, told The Daily Caller News Foundation he was never called in for a face-to-face meeting with Obama to offer his assessment of ISIS as it rampaged through the Middle East, or during the political meltdown of Libya and Egypt, or on Iran's efforts to build a nuclear bomb, or of the "Russian reset" that ended in shambles. Hillary Clinton and personal honesty Posted: 15 Jul 2016 10:45 AM PDT The FBI proved again that she has trouble with the truth When FBI Director James Comey publicly revealed his recommendation to the Department of Justice last week that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton not be prosecuted for espionage, he unleashed a firestorm of criticism from those who believe that Mrs. Clinton was judged by different standards from those used to judge others when deciding whether to bring a case to a grand jury. The FBI investigation had a bizarre ending to it. FBI recommendations are never made public as this one was. Attorney General Loretta Lynch had been compromised by her politically disastrous but legally consequential meeting out of the view of the media with Bill Clinton just one week before Mr. Comey's announcement. Whatever they discussed, the overwhelming public impression was such that Ms. Lynch removed herself and her senior aides from the case, effectively leaving the FBI to have the final say. This is unheard of in the post-Hoover FBI. The Comey announcement itself gave two reasons for recommending against indictment. One was that "no reasonable prosecutor" would take the case. That is not a judgment the FBI gets paid to make. The FBI's job is to gather, present and evaluate facts and evidence, not predict what prosecutors might do with it. The other stated reason for recommending against indictment was that though Mrs. Clinton may have been "extremely careless" in handling state secrets, she was not "grossly negligent," which is the standard required by the espionage statute. Yet Mr. Comey also acknowledged that Mrs. Clinton sent state secrets to nongovernmental colleagues who lacked national security clearances, that those people were hacked by hostile intelligence services and that she used her numerous non-secure mobile devices recklessly while inside the territorial borders of those hostile governments. If all that is somehow extremely careless but not grossly negligent, then many who have done far less than Mrs. Clinton — and have been prosecuted and convicted — were wrongly prosecuted. Chris Shays told a local talk show that based on evidence to which he was privy from the Clinton impeachment trial, he found that Broaddrick had "disclosed that she had been raped, not once, but twice" to Senate Judiciary Committee investigators. "I believed that he had done it," Shays continued. "I believed her that she had been raped 20 years ago. And it was vicious rapes, it was twice at the same event." Now Broaddrick has for the first time publically confirmed her account that Clinton raped her twice. She said that after the first round, in which the much stronger Clinton had her pinned down for a period of time, she was relieved when she thought it was over and was hoping he would leave the room. Instead, she says Clinton turned to her and told her words to the effect of "I am going to do it again." And then he did, she says. More/Video

Chelsea Manning and transgender suicide rates Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:37 AM PDT Within days of the Obama administration announcement of the repeal of the ban on transgender soldiers serving openly in the military, Chelsea Manning, the transgender soldier who was convicted of leaking more than 750,000 classified and unclassified documents to WikiLeaks, tried to commit suicide in her cell at Fort Leavenworth's prison. Manning, who is serving a 35-year sentence for violating the Espionage Act while serving in the Army as Bradley Edward Manning, successfully sued the U.S. Army for the right to transition from male to female in prison. She began hormone replacement therapy in early 2015. During her more optimistic days in prison when she began her early transition to female last year, Manning sent an open "thank you" letter to the 17,000 individuals from Amnesty International activists who sent her letters and cards during their global Write for Rights campaign. Writing that "I finally began my prescribed regime of hormones to continue my overdue gender transition in February. It's been such an amazing relief for my body and brain to finally come into alignment with each other." Sadly, it seems that body and brain may not have been quite so well aligned after all. In her suicide attempt, Manning joins the more than 41 percent of those identifying as "transgender" or gender nonconforming who have attempted suicide, compared with 4.6 percent of the overall U.S. population who report a lifetime suicide attempt. It is also higher than the 10-20 percent of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults who report ever attempting suicide. These data come from a study by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and UCLA's Williams Institute, which analyzed results from the National Transgender Discrimination Survey. More than a dozen other studies since 2001 have found similar results for alarmingly high rates of suicide for transgender individuals like Chelsea Manning. In 2013, a 44-year-old Belgian female-to-male transsexual chose to die by euthanasia after expressing his unhappiness with his sex change operation. Claiming that the surgery had turned him into a "monster, doctors assisted him in ending his life on the grounds of "unbearable psychological suffering." While some have suggested that the reason for the high suicide rates for the LGBT and transgender communities is due to the stigma and discrimination they have faced, the reality is far more complex.. The public feud of Ginsburg vs. Trump casts harsh spotlight on court's liberal lion Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:30 AM PDT It's a strange week when Donald Trump – known for his provocations and unconventional behavior – lectures a Supreme Court justice on what's "highly inappropriate," and many legal experts say he's right. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's unprecedented public criticism of the presumed GOP presidential nominee has left legal experts and her own supporters scratching their heads. No one could recall a similar instance of a justice on the nation's highest court openly and repeatedly denouncing a candidate running for its highest office. Trump's campaign is already exploiting Ginsburg's attack as the latest example of the high court's growing politicization. He called upon her to step down and predicted her attacks would only serve to energize his conservative base. More
Hillary Clinton blames aides for email problems, says server now in hands of FBI Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:23 AM PDT Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blamed her aides for bungling her emails, telling a federal court Tuesday that department employees knew she was using a secret account and they should have been the ones to police her. Mrs. Clinton, through her lawyers, begged the court not to order her to have to testify under oath about her emails, saying she no longer has any of them and she didn't set the system up to try to thwart open-records laws, so she has little to add to the ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. Judicial Watch, a conservative legal group that's been pursuing Mrs. Clinton's emails for years, has asked a federal judge to make Mrs. Clinton sit for a sworn deposition so it can get to the bottom of what happened to some 30,000 messages the former secretary refused to turn over to the government. But David E. Kendall, Mrs. Clinton's lawyer, said the group is grasping. "No matter how much discovery Judicial Watch takes, the ultimate relief it seeks — production and search of Secretary Clinton's clintonemail.com account by either the State Department or Secretary Clinton — is impossible to obtain in this case, as Secretary Clinton does not have possession or control of the equipment that housed that account," Mr. Kendall wrote. Firefighters fed gator near toddler-snatching Disney site: report Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:15 AM PDT LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Firefighters at Walt Disney World were warned to stop feeding alligators at one of the resort's fire stations two months before an alligator killed a toddler. According to emails obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Reedy Creek Emergency Services admonished firefighters for feeding at least one of two alligators at a station less than a half-mile from Seven Seas Lagoon, where 2-year-old son Lane Graves was killed after being pulled into the water by a gator. The Sentinel explains that Reedy Creek "is the Disney-controlled taxing district that provides government services to the theme parks and surrounding areas." Feeding alligators is illegal because it causes the animals to lose their natural fear of humans. "You would think that the firefighters would be a little bit more in tune with the trouble that could cause and not do it," David Hitzig, executive director of the Busch Wildlife Center, a refuge and nature center in Jupiter, remarked to the newspaper. "You would figure they would have more common sense than that. ... When you feed an alligator, you're attracting it to people.". More
Armed Citizen Shoots AK-47 Wielding WAFFLE HOUSE Robber Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:07 AM PDT It's statistically rare for robbers to use AK-47s, according to the FBI The suspect, Antione Cooper, 26, recently entered the franchise's DeSoto, Texas, location at 2:30am, robbed several customers and then attempted to escape. That's when he was shot in the parking lot by a CHL holder who feared for his wife's safety as she was heading to the restaurant. "Police said the customer called to Cooper once they were outside," the Houston Chronicle reported. "Cooper pointed the AK-47 in the customer's direction, prompting the customer to shoot Cooper several times, according to police in the southern Dallas suburb." "Cooper was then transported to a local hospital where he remained Wednesday on life support, police said." More
"$2 Billion A Year" - Illegal Immigrants Get More Food Stamp Benefits Than Poor American Citizens Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:00 AM PDT There's a reason Americans are angered over illegal immigration and despite what liberal-leaning socialists like Hillary Clinton and the Huffington Post may suggest, it has absolutely nothing to do with racism. It's an economics issue, plain and simple. And as highlighted by a new report from the Washington Examiner, it's actually American citizens who are feeling the brunt of the pain and being treated unfairly, not the other way around: Illegal immigrant households tapping into the federal food stamp program are receiving $1.4 billion to $2.1 billion a year despite their ineligibility, according to a new analysis of the Agriculture Department program. And rules guiding who can get food stamps favor households with illegal immigrants over all-U.S. citizen homes, according to the detailed report from the Center for Immigration Studies released Monday morning. Walmart Wants Salisbury News To Provide Promotions For Free Posted: 15 Jul 2016 09:17 AM PDT It is amazing to me how the biggest retail store here on the Shore sent us a direct request to promote a program they make millions of dollars on each year. The request was specifically for the North Walmart Store. I responded back to them telling them that unless they start advertising with us, we will NOT publish their release. When you use common sense, clearly Walmart has come to learn that our audience is far greater then anyone else, or they wouldn't have sent the request. I explained that even as large as the company is, our ads are only $100.00 a month and with that ad we'd be more then happy to market their promotions. There's been no reply. I also shared our traffic to date and if that doesn't convince them that advertising with us would be an incredible move, I don't know what to say beyond those numbers. Times have been tough for all of the small businesses over the past several years and on behalf of our advertisers we will not participate with these free promotion requests. That being said, we truly enjoy promoting free non profit events. BBQ's, Yard Sales, Fundraisers, Church events, Lost and found animals, all for free. I think Walmart can pony up $100.00 a month, wouldn't you agree?
Republican panel leaves anti-Trump move gasping for breath Posted: 15 Jul 2016 08:30 AM PDT CLEVELAND (AP) — The struggle by conservatives for an eleventh-hour derailment of Donald Trump's drive to the Republican presidential nominee is gasping for breath after a committee at the Republican National Convention resoundingly rejected their push to let delegates support the candidate of their choice. The convention's rules committee, dominated by Trump backers and top national and state GOP officials, used a voice vote late Thursday to reject the proposal, a result that was expected. A series of related votes underscored the 112-member panel's one-sided opposition to the conservatives' drive, and it appeared uncertain whether its backers could gather enough support to force the full convention to revisit the proposal when it convenes Monday. Foes said they believed the movement was essentially finished. "It was never real, it was always overblown," said Ron Kaufman, a party leader from Massachusetts after Thursday's late-night vote. "They were never there." More

ACLU CHALLENGES BALTIMORE POLICE UNION’S ATTEMPT TO BLOCK WORK OF CIVILIAN REVIEW BOARD Posted: 15 Jul 2016 07:30 AM PDT BALTIMORE, MD - Blasting a Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) lawsuit against the Civilian Review Board (CRB) and the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) as "extreme" and "out of touch", a friend-of-the-court brief filed Tuesday in Baltimore City Circuit Court by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Maryland urges the Court to quickly dismiss the case as frivolous and contrary to the compelling public interest in improving police-community relations. The lawsuit, filed by the FOP this past spring, seeks to permanently bar the Police Department from providing records of Internal Affairs investigations to the CRB and to permanently strip the CRB of its ability to review internal affairs records, even though state law actually mandates such review. The brief, filed on behalf of the ACLU and the Baltimore Campaign for Justice, Safety and Jobs (CJSJ), argues that the FOP lawsuit has no legal merit and is a transparent attempt to shut down any possibility of civilian oversight of police in Maryland. In the brief, the organizations, which collectively represent thousands of Baltimore and Maryland residents, contend that the FOP's extreme positions perpetuate distrust by reinforcing the perception that police believe they are above the law. "Rather than working with the numerous City officials and community leaders who are looking for ways to rebuild trust and move forward, the FOP is taking the extreme position that no one outside the police department, even when authorized by the legislature, can be involved in oversight of any kind," said Sonia Kumar, Staff Attorney for the ACLU of Maryland. "The FOP's lawsuit reflects exactly the type of blanket opposition to transparency and accountability that has created public distrust of police and that frustrates effective police work and public safety." The brief explains that the mandate of the Civilian Review Board, created in 1999 by the General Assembly against the backdrop of extreme community frustration with Baltimore City police, is to do precisely what the FOP is challenging: receive and review internal affairs records concerning complaints. Under the statute, the Civilian Review Board cannot impose discipline on any law enforcement officer but makes recommendations based on its independent review of Internal Affairs records. These provisions were carefully crafted so as to not violate the Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights ("LEOBR"). Yet, the FOP argues compliance with the law is unlawful under the Maryland Public Information Act ("MPIA") and the LEOBR. The FOP's lawsuit comes on the heels of efforts to revitalize Baltimore's Civilian Review Board in an effort to build legitimacy and public trust in the wake of high-profile killings of civilians, exposés about the extent of uses of force, Baltimore's uprising, and longstanding complaints about police harassment. Indeed, the resounding national consensus among courts, law enforcement and community leaders about the critical need for transparency, including civilian oversight, as one of the most critical means to developing the public's confidence in police. Rather than protecting the legitimate rights of officers, the FOP is seeking to place police above the law, fighting tooth and nail even the most basic efforts to recover public trust, and attacking even the most barebones institutions in place specifically to protect public trust. In stark contrast to the many officials, community members and other groups working to build healthier relationships between Baltimore residents and police, the FOP is devoting its efforts to defeating longstanding mechanisms for basic oversight. The Baltimore FOP owes more to the residents of Baltimore and to the officers it purports to represent. Hillary Clinton beats the rap while condemning others to face it Posted: 15 Jul 2016 06:37 AM PDT James Comey ignored Hillary Clinton's guilt As he methodically laid out the case against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private, unsecure server and email accounts to carry out all of her official government business as secretary of state before declining to recommend criminal charges, FBI Director James B. Comey left out one major piece of evidence. It's the one piece of the puzzle that truly nails her, since it demonstrates consciousness of guilt. She fired an ambassador serving under her for doing eerily similar, but far less damaging, things. There has been a lot of chatter about the "lack of criminal intent" since Mr. Comey's announcement. Consider that "gross negligence" and not "intent" was the standard, and that she asked top staff to remove classified markings from documents sent to her, and that despite her original pronouncement that "there is no classified material," theFBI found more than 100 classified documents, including several designated Top Secret/SAP. And consider that she instructed her aides to "design the system we want," one that would prevent "the personal" from being "accessible." More
Closing Arguments Wrap In Rice Trial; Verdict To Be Announced Monday Posted: 15 Jul 2016 06:30 AM PDT Closing arguments are complete, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams says he will hand down a verdict on Monday morning in the manslaughter trial of Baltimore City Police Lt. Brian Rice. Rice, 42, is the highest ranking officer charged in the death of Freddie Gray. He is charged with manslaughter, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment. Today's court proceedings lasted more than two hours. Assistant State's Attorney Janice Bledsoe in her closing arguments said Lt. Brian Rice "initiated a chain of events that led to the death of Freddie Gray," by chasing Gray in West Baltimore on the morning of April 12, 2015. A good portion of her closing argument focused not on Rice's conduct towards Gray, but his conduct towards Brandon Ross, Freddie Gray's friend who complained to Ross about Gray's treatment by police, and who took video of Gray being loaded back into the van by Lt. Rice. Bledsoe played enhanced audio from part of Ross's video that had NOT been played in court before. More
BREAKING: Cops Attacked in Baltimore Posted: 15 Jul 2016 06:23 AM PDT Baltimore Police officers may have been the targets of a coordinated effort to draw cops out. Four plainclothes officers wearing tactical vests in an unmarked vehicle were driving along the 2300 block of Winchester Street about 9:30 p.m. when they heard gunshots ring out, Baltimore Police spokesperson T.J. The unidentified suspect was struck at some point as officers returned fire, according to police. He retreated, but was later found on the second level of the complex and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. No officers or civilians were wounded during the shootout. Citizens Demand Term Limits After Brown Indictment Posted: 15 Jul 2016 05:53 AM PDT Washington, D.C. – U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader of the citizen movement to term limit elected officials, today called for swift action from Congress on a constitutional amendment to limit members' terms. "The corruption cauldron of Washington, D.C. is boiling over, and it's harming our country more every day," said U.S. Term Limits President Philip Blumel. "Congress must propose a term limits amendment immediately to restore confidence in this broken institution." The statement comes in the wake of a federal indictment against Rep. Corrine Brown, a 12-term Florida congresswoman who stands accused of using a phony education charity as her own slush fund. She is charged with mail fraud, wire fraud, concealing facts on financial disclosure forms, theft of government property, obstruction and filing false tax returns. Brown's is not an isolated case. In April, 11-term Pennsylvania Congressman Chaka Fattah was defeated in the Democratic primary while under 29 counts of indictment for bribery and other charges. Term limits are needed to curb the hubris and opportunity that lead to this corruption, U.S. Term Limits says. "Lifetime tenure has a paralyzing effect on Congress, by producing members who are addicted to the power and prestige of office," Blumel said. "Term limits will stop the empire-building in D.C. and require members to live under the laws they make." According to the last nationwide poll on term limits conducted by Gallup, the issue enjoys wide bipartisan support. The poll showed that 75% of Americans support congressional term limits, including supermajorities of both parties. The term limits amendment bills have already been filed in the House by Rep. Matt Salmon of Arizona and in the Senate by Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana. They require two-thirds support from both chambers and ratification by three-quarters of states to become part of the Constitution.

Sen. Sessions To Obama: Come Clean On Your Plans To Create Global Governance Posted: 15 Jul 2016 05:37 AM PDT Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has written a letter to Obama demanding that the President reveal to the public his plans for the creation of a "new transnational governance structure," as Sessions puts it. Sessions is one of few Congressmen to stand up and demand more transparency on this sovereignty killing effort, now 10 years in the making. Most have sold themselves out for a paltry sum… The TPP is a trade deal, which Sessions states is more like a treaty, that Obama has been working on with 12 other countries in complete secrecy, and will now be rammed through Congress with fast track. The Trans-Pacific Partnership will completely gut the sovereignty of any nation who signs it…the obvious reason it's being kept from public scrutiny.
The only way we have come to know of the contents of this treasonous piece of work is through Wikileaks, whos recently leak reveals that only a handful of the chapters have anything to do with trade at all, most are about creating that 'New World Order' that sold-out politicians lip smack over.

Posted: 15 Jul 2016 05:30 AM PDT In a scandalous announcement, FBI director James Comey moments ago said that "although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information" and he gave extensive evidence of just that,"our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case." He added that "prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person's actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past." What is shocking is that the FBI director was clearly ignoring the US code itself, where in Section 793, subsection (f),"Gathering, transmitting or losing defense information", it makes it quite clear that intent is not a key consideration in a case like this when deciding to press charges, to wit: Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, note, or information, relating to the national defense, (1) through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, or (2) having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of its trust, or lost, or stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss, theft, abstraction, or destruction to his superior officer— Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both. What is even more shocking is that according to Comey, "we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts." Well, we did. Here is the FBI itself, less than a year ago, charging one Bryan H. Nishimura, 50, of Folsom, who pleaded guiltyto "unauthorized removal and retention of classified materials" without malicious intent, in other words precisely what the FBI alleges Hillary did (h/t @DavidSirota): More

The whole reason we expect the court is because it stays out of politics, it is not majoritarian, it doesn't do what it thinks the majority wants, it interprets the Constitution and and sometimes frustrates the majority." Still No Explanation For Dallas Gunman's Honorable Discharge Posted: 15 Jul 2016 05:07 AM PDT Almost a week after the Dallas sniper attacks, AP's Will Weissert reports that it's still unclear how the gunman obtained an honorable discharge from the military even though Army officials sent him home from Afghanistan with a recommendation that he be thrown out of the armed forces. As we noted previously, exactly how Micah Johnson came to be the man who murdered five police officers in Dallas remains unsolved. Johnson, a mid-twenties man (much like Bin Laden's son), apparently had taken his love for the ladies a little too far when he was serving in the Army Reserves. The killer who "stated that he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers", as we posted, had an apparent fetish for women's panties. Johnson was kicked out of the Army for stealing panties, returned home as a soldier who fell from grace, was exposed to Eric Garner's July murder and Michael Brown's August murder, all while trying to negotiate a deal with his lawyer regarding his panty heist.... et voila, he became a crazed murderer. At this point it has become clear that the story-line being spun to the public is one focused on the details. The people of Dallas and the rest of the world are to believe: an Army Reserve recruit stole panties, saw two high profile murders play out on American media, felt bad in the juxtaposition of Presidential praise in the midst of a possible discharge, had two guns stolen from him, then turned into a Dallas sniper much like Lee Harvey Oswald.
