Harris Statement on Equal Rights Amendment Deadline

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 09:00 PM PST

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) made the following statement regarding the House vote to remove the ratification deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution.

"This is just another example of the Speaker of the House trampling the Constitution. Even Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said this week that this process must start all over."

The Equal Rights Amendment was passed by Congress in 1972, with a ratification deadline of March 1979 for the required number of states (38). When this deadline passed, only 35 states had ratified the amendment, and five of these states also rescinded their ratifications.

Alabama Democrat proposes bill mandating all men have vasectomy at age 50 or after third child

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 08:30 PM PST

MONTGOMERY — State Rep. Rolanda Hollis (D-Birmingham) on Thursday filed a bill that would mandate every Alabama man to undergo a vasectomy within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.

Democrats in the Alabama legislature last year brought up the possibility of introducing such a bill during the abortion debate on 2019's HB 314, known as the Human Life Protection Act.

"Under existing law, there are no restrictions on the reproductive rights of men," states the introduction to Hollis' new bill, HB 238.

Granny Winebox Is Going to Hand This Election to Trump

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 08:00 PM PST

They Can't Really Be This Stupid, Can They?

There was a time when I used to have nothing but praise for Speaker Nancy Pelosi's political instincts and acumen, despite the fact that she represented the other side. In her first incarnation as Speaker of the House, Pelosi was extraordinarily shrewd and powerful. She managed to get members of her own caucus to give up their careers for Obamacare.

Her second turn in the job is making me seriously consider that some sort of intergalactic space invader body-snatching may have happened here.

Evidently so drunk that she's unaware her first attempt blew up in her party's face, Pelosi is once again going on about investigating President Trump.

When I first read the news I did a double, then a triple take. Then I called several people close to me to make sure I hadn't recently suffered any head trauma.

Donald Trump Accuses Robert Mueller of Lying to Congress

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:30 PM PST

President Donald Trump accused Special Counsel Robert Mueller on Wednesday of lying to Congress.

"Even Bob Mueller lied to Congress!" Trump wrote on Twitter, thanking Attorney General Bill Barr for stepping in to reduce the recommended sentence for political operative Roger Stone.

It was unclear what part of Mueller's testimony Trump was referring to.

"Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Evidence now clearly shows that the Mueller Scam was improperly brought & tainted."

In November, Stone was found guilty on seven counts including obstruction, witness tampering, and lying to Congress.

Watch – Pete Buttigieg: Flood Small American Towns with Immigration to Grow Population

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:00 PM PST

Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, is touting a new visa program to flood small American towns with legal immigrants to grow the regions' populations — a boon to corporate investors, housing developers, and big business.

During a campaign stop in Merrimack, New Hampshire, Buttigieg touted his investor-friendly plan to inundate small American towns and rural communities with legal immigration for the sole purpose of driving up population growth.

Buttigieg said:
I'm proposing what we call "Community Renewal Visas" that when a community that is very much in need of growing its population, recognizes that, and makes a choice to welcome more than its share of new Americans that we create a fast-track, if they apply for an allotment of visas, that goes to those who are willing to be in those areas that maybe are hurting for population but have great potential.
Buttigieg's population growth agenda mimics a plan by the Economic Innovation Group, an organization led by investors, that seeks to create a "Heartland Visa" to flood small American towns with more legal immigration to increase the population.

US: Huawei Has Secret 'Back Doors' to Telecom Networks

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 05:30 PM PST

U.S. intelligence indicates Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei has the ability to hack into cellular networks via "back doors," information U.S. officials have shared with allies England and Germany.

The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday those "back doors" appear to have been put in place for law enforcement use. Huawei, which many suspect has ties to Chinese intelligence, has had this spying tool in its arsenal since at least 2009.

"We have evidence that Huawei has the capability secretly to access sensitive and personal information in systems it maintains and sells around the world," National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien told the Journal.

More than 2,400 fetuses found last year in home and car of one of Midwest's most prolific abortion doctors will be buried in Indiana

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST

More than 2,400 fetuses discovered last year at the suburban Chicago home and car of one of the most prolific abortion doctors in Midwest will be buried today in Indiana, a state with some of the nation's toughest anti-abortion laws.

Indiana's top law enforcement official will preside over the mass burial in South Bend Wednesday.

The ceremony comes five months after relatives sorting through Dr. Ulrich Klopfer's belongings after his September 3, 2019, death came across 2,246 sets of preserved fetal remains stacked floor to ceiling in his garage.

India's Leaders Claim Drinking Cow Urine Will Cure the Coronavirus

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 03:30 PM PST

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his extreme Hindu backers are making some amazing claims about science.

Indian nationalists peddle something worse than snake oil. It's the The Cow Dung Cure for Coronavirus.
Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, president of the Hindu Mahasabha—a century-old organization that advocates Hindutva (or "Hinduness")—declared that "consuming cow urine and cow dung will stop the effect of infectious coronavirus." The swami added that a "person who chants 'om namah shivay' and applies cow dung" on his body "will be saved." The Sanskrit chant is a salutation to Shiva, a Hindu deity.

The swami is a prominent figure in hard-line Hindu circles and has an ideological affinity with Mr. Modi.

Virginia Passes Bill to Give Electoral Votes to Popular Vote Winner

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 03:00 PM PST

The Virginia House of Delegates has passed legislation seeking to award its electoral votes to whomever the wins the popular vote.

House Bill 177 passed with a 51-46 vote in the Democrat-majority House after being handed off by the Privileges and Elections Committee last week. Should the Senate also approve, Virginia will officially become part of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

"Under the compact, Virginia agrees to award its electoral votes to the presidential ticket that receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia," a bill summary states. Further:

The compact goes into effect when states cumulatively possessing a majority of the electoral votes have joined the compact. A state may withdraw from the compact; however, a withdrawal occurring within six months of the end of a President's term shall not become effective until a President or Vice President has qualified to serve the next term.
So far, 15 states, along with Washington D.C., have joined. The idea gained momentum as an answer to President Donald Trump's electoral college victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, despite her approximately three million popular vote lead.

Harvard, Yale under investigation over foreign gifts totaling hundreds of millions of dollars

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 02:30 PM PST

The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) announced an investigation into Harvard and Yale on Wednesday and accused both universities of failing to report foreign gifts and contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The federal agency claimed Yale failed to report at least $375 million in foreign transactions and hasn't reported any gifts or contracts for the last four years. The DOE did not say how much Harvard might have failed to report.

Section 117 of the Higher Education Act requires American Title IV-eligible colleges and universities to report any foreign gifts or contracts that exceed $250,000 in value. Institutions must also disclose any foreign ownership or control, twice each year -- something many schools have failed to do, according to federal officials.

SURVEY FINDS PEOPLE WHO IDENTIFY AS LEFT-WING MORE LIKELY TO HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 02:00 PM PST

A new survey of more than 8,000 people has found that those who identify with left-wing political beliefs are more likely to have been diagnosed with a mental illness.

Ann Coulter's "liberalism is a mental disorder" catchphrase has become something of a clichéd meme, but the data appears to support it.

Carried out by Slate Star Codex, the online survey collected a wealth of data from respondents about their education, demographic, lifestyle and political views.

The results show that people who occupy the farther left end of the political spectrum are more likely to have been "formally diagnosed with depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia."

Pennsylvania police called after kindergartner with Down syndrome makes gun sign, tells teacher: 'I shoot you'

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 12:30 PM PST

A Pennsylvania elementary school called the police after a kindergartner with Down syndrome pointed her finger like a gun and said she was going to shoot her teacher, the child's mother claims.

The 6-year-old at the Valley Forge Elementary School in Tredyffrin, located about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia, allegedly pointed her finger like a gun at her teacher in November, telling her, "I shoot you."

The teacher brought the child to the principal's office. Under school policy, the principal began a "threat assessment." After asking the girl a series of questions, the assessment determined she made a "transient" threat, meaning she expressed anger but did not mean to harm anyone. The school did not pursue disciplinary action but did report the incident to the police department.

West Virginia Senate unanimously passes 'born alive' abortion bill

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 12:00 PM PST

The West Virginia Senate passed a bill mandating that doctors give care to infants born alive after an attempted abortion.

The state's Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act calls for making doctors and other medical officials who perform abortions subject to disciplinary action from their licensing boards if they fail to provide proper care to babies who survive abortions.

West Virginia law already prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, and lawmakers acknowledged that murder is already a crime in the state before passing the bill unanimously. Critics of the bill accused Republicans of attempting to "gin up the base" because existing laws already protect newborns.

Majority of Iran Supported Soleimani Airstrike

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 11:30 AM PST

Iranians who fled the Islamic Republic after facing persecution and prison sentences for their Christian faith said in remarks to Breitbart News this week that the majority of people in Iran support President Donald Trump's decision to eliminate Iranian terror chief Qasem Soleimani.

Soleimani, a major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was the head of Iran's Quds Force and responsible for its foreign terrorism strategy. U.S. officials have confirmed that he pioneered the use of roadside bombs in Iraq and Syria to kill and dismember American soldiers. Trump ordered an airstrike on Soleimani in January after a pro-Iran mob attempted to storm the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.

Breitbart News asked two of the women if Trump's policies toward Iran were helping the people there, and specifically persecuted Christians.

Rashida Tlaib urges Federal Reserve to bail out bankrupt Detroit and Puerto Rico

Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib told Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell that he "has the authority" to bail out the governments of Detroit and Puerto Rico.

"My city filing for bankruptcy was devastating to so many retirees, sir. Forty, 50 years they worked for the city of Detroit, saw their pensions completely diminished, gone," Tlaib said to Powell during a House Financial Services Committee hearing.

"Do you not believe that the governments of Detroit and Puerto Rico also play a vital role that should be preserved even if a financial crisis makes it hard for them to borrow money?" she added.

Philanthropist Patty Quillin, the wife of Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, has donated at least $1.5 million to support efforts to drastically change Los Angeles County's criminal justice system. The billionaire couple reside hundreds of miles away in Santa Cruz, located about 75 miles south of San Francisco.

According to campaign finance filings, Quillin recently contributed $1 million to a group attempting to replace two-term, incumbent L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey with a more progressive prosecutor. She also dropped another $500,000 in support of a voter referendum (Measure R) that would mandate sweeping changes for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and reduce the jail population. Both contests will appear on the countywide ballot on March 3, also known as Super Tuesday.

Quillin's million-dollar donation went to an independent expenditure (IE) committee backing former San Francisco D.A. George Gascón. During Gascón's eight-year prosecutorial tenure in San Francisco, he had the support of New York billionaire George Soros.

Killer coronavirus outbreak is 'just getting started' outside of China and will strike EVERY country on the planet, warns infectious diseases expert

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 10:00 AM PST

Every country in the world can expect to have cases of coronavirus because the epidemic is 'only just getting started' outside of China, an experts has warned.

Chinese health bosses claim the disease may be completely eradicated by April, after the country reported its lowest number of new cases in nearly two weeks.

But a World Health Organization (WHO) official has said while the epidemic may be reaching its peak in China, it would continue to get worse for the rest of the world.

Dale Fisher, chair of the Global Outbreak Alert Response Network at the WHO, said: 'It has spread to other places where it's the beginning of the outbreak. In Singapore, we are at the beginning of the outbreak. I'd be pretty confident though that eventually every country will have a case.'

Critics Try to Stop Peace Corps' Exit in China

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 09:45 AM PST

Critics of ending the Peace Corps program in China are trying to reverse the decision, arguing that the already tense ties with Beijing means an organization whose main mission is to promote international peace and friendship should continue, The Hill reported on Wednesday.

The recent decision "was made at a very high level without consulting what seems like appropriate staff," a source told The Hill, indicating it was political appointees who did so. "It just doesn't fit with Peace Corps' mission. It wasn't handled to the standard that I think the agency normally holds for auditing and closing a program. It happened really quick without taking into account factors that would normally be taken into account."

Although some have cited the fact that China is a developed country and therefore should not have a Peace Corps mission there, Democrat Rep. John Garamendi said "I've yet to find a reason that justifies pulling out."

Democrats took full control of the state legislature in November 2019, and Democrat Ralph Northam currently holds the governorship.

Nigerian brothers' lawyers says they are prepared to testify at Jussie Smollett trial

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 09:15 AM PST

The lawyer for the Nigerian brothers at the center of the Jussie Smollett 'hoax' attack scandal say they are prepared to testify at his trial but that they will not feel vindicated unless the Empire actor is found guilty of lying to police.

Smollett was charged on Tuesday with lying to police in a six-count, grand jury indictment which revived the case against him. Last year, he was arrested after claiming to have been the victim of a racist, homophobic attack in Chicago.

Brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo, who knew Smollett, say he paid them to stage the attack against him and that they went along with it for $3,500, not knowing the media storm it would create. Smollett's attorneys, over the last year, have accused the brothers of lying.

Dems demand Barr's resignation amid Stone sentence storm

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 08:30 AM PST

Barely a week after President Trump was acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial, a new administration controversy has Democrats demanding investigations and even the resignation of his top law enforcement official.

Lawmakers, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal, called on Attorney General Bill Barr to resign, while the House Judiciary Committee announced Wednesday it'll grill Barr during a March 31 hearing over his handling of the sentencing of former Trump confidant Roger Stone, among other issues.

"Congress must act immediately to rein in our lawless Attorney General," tweeted Warren, D-Mass. "Barr should resign or face impeachment."

Shameless Virginia Democrats Heckle Pastor, Walk Out in Protest of His Prayer

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 08:00 AM PST

A pastor's biblical prayer was not only heckled but outright snubbed by Virginia Democrats in a shameless display.

Democratic lawmakers in Virginia's House of Delegates made their distaste of the Rev. Dr. Robert M. Grant Jr. clear Tuesday morning by heckling the pastor and walking out on his opening prayer.

Grant's prayer started without outrage, but that changed when the pastor warned against legislation that violates biblical principles.

"I pray that you may understand that all life is precious and worthy of a chance to be born. God is a giver of life and people have no right or authority to take life," Grant said. "The unborn has rights, and those rights need to be protected."

Missing 6-year-old South Carolina girl last seen playing in her front yard

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 07:30 AM PST

Cayce, South Carolina — The FBI has joined the search for a little girl from South Carolina who has been missing for two days. Surveillance video shows 6-year-old Faye Swetlik getting off her school bus on Monday afternoon. But a little more than an hour later, she was gone.

She was last seen playing in the front yard of her Cayce, South Carolina, home. Police on Wednesday released the surveillance images in hopes of getting more tips and home security videos.

"At this point we have not ruled out that Faye could have wandered into the woods playing, got lost and has not found her way home yet," said Sergeant Evan Antley.

The search for Faye is expanding and more than 300 officers from 20 law enforcement agencies are now going door to door beyond her neighborhood. The FBI has also joined the investigation.

Children in All 50 States Being Taught Revolutionary War Was Fought To Promote Slavery

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:45 AM PST

The New York Times' 1619 Project — a curriculum that makes the fantastical claim that a primary cause of the Revolutionary War was the colonists' desire to protect slavery — has been adopted in 3,500 classrooms across all 50 states.

For this reason, some of the nation's most renowned historians have called for The Times to correct this and other factual errors.

The Pulitzer Center, which is partnering with The Times to promote The 1619 Project, recounted in its 2019 annual report, "Good journalism, innovative educational resources, and deep community engagement are absolutely essential to bridging the divisions that threaten to rip our democracy apart. It is this belief that has driven the Pulitzer Center for the last 14 years."

Rift forms between AOC and Bernie Sanders on campaign trail

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:30 AM PST

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and the leader of "the Squad" are reportedly not seeing eye to eye on the campaign trail.

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly frustrating the Sanders campaign during her appearances at the socialist's campaign rallies. While Sanders was occupied in the Senate during the impeachment trial of President Trump, AOC subbed in for him. However, she did not mention the candidate by name during a January rally, though she endorsed him last October.

Vanity Fair reported that Sanders's campaign manager, Faiz Shakir, expressed his frustration to AOC's campaign manager over texts, saying her immigration stances were too extreme. "Organizing is about tipping people off if you start to see that ICE and CBP are in communities, to try and keep people safe," she said at an Iowa rally. "I'm not here to reform some of these systems when we talk about immigration. I'm here because Sen. Sanders has actually committed to breaking up ICE and CBP. That's why I'm here," she added.

Trump breaks New Hampshire record for voter turnout for any incumbent president

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:00 AM PST

Turnout for voters supporting President Trump in New Hampshire surpassed the state record for that of any incumbent president over the last 40 years.

Trump earned more than 110,000 votes in the state's Republican primary on Tuesday, more than double the previous record set by former President Barack Obama, who received just over 49,000 votes in 2012. The last Republican presidential incumbent, George W. Bush, got 52,962 votes in the New Hampshire primary in 2004.

Overall, voter turnout has been steadily rising for both parties for years.

Trump, who has no serious primary challenger in 2020, celebrated the news in a late-night tweet on Tuesday.

Fifteen Defendants Indicted on Federal Racketeering and Drug Conspiracy Charges at Jessup Correctional Institution

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 05:30 AM PST

Indictment Charges Two Former Correctional Officers, Six Inmates, and Seven Outside Facilitators

Greenbelt, Maryland – A federal grand jury has indicted 15 defendants on federal racketeering and drug conspiracy charges at the Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI), including correctional officers, inmates, and outside "facilitators," for allegedly paying bribes to correctional officers to smuggle contraband, including narcotics, alcohol, tobacco, and cell phones into the prison.  The indictment was returned on February 5, 2020, and made public today upon the arrest of 11 of the defendants.  Three of the defendants were arrested earlier this week.  Law enforcement is still seeking outside facilitator, Trinesse Butts.
The indictment was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K. Hur; Special Agent in Charge Jennifer C. Boone, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office; and Secretary Robert Green, of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
"Corrupt correctional officers endanger the lives of their co-workers and of the inmates entrusted to their care and supervision," said United States Attorney Robert K. Hur.  "They also endanger the entire community, as prisoners can use contraband cell phones to direct criminal activity outside prison walls.  The United States Attorney's Office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to root out prison corruption and prosecute correctional officers who abuse their positions of trust to facilitate and engage in criminal behavior."

"The public expects its correctional officers to guard the wall that divides those who are in prison from the community. But the allegations in the indictment show that the defendants were nothing more than corrupt gatekeepers -- allowing the free flow of criminal activity in and out of the prison,"  said Jennifer Boone, Special Agent in Charge of the Baltimore Field Office of the FBI.  "Today's charges show that no one in a position of public trust who carries out a criminal conspiracy is beyond the reach of the dedicated agents, officers and detectives from Maryland's law enforcement agencies."
"Nothing matters more than the safety of our citizens, our correctional employees, and the inmates in our custody," said DPSCS Secretary Robert L. Green. "We have worked diligently on this case from the moment we learned of the potential security compromise. And, we'll continue to work closely with our local and federal law enforcement partners to maintain secure facilities for our employees and the inmates in our care."
According to the indictment, JCI was a maximum-security prison that housed approximately 1,800 male inmates, with approximately 423 Correctional Officers (COs).
The two-count indictment alleges that from at least 2017 until the present, the COs, inmates, and outside facilitators conspired to smuggle contraband into JCI, including narcotics, alcohol, tobacco, and cell phones, in order to enrich themselves and protect and expand their criminal operation.  According to the indictment, defendant COs accepted or agreed to accept payments from facilitators and/or inmates or engaged in sexual relations with inmates as consideration for smuggling contraband into JCI.  Inmates allegedly acted as both wholesalers and retailers of contraband and in the process made profits that far exceeded the profits that could be made by selling similar drugs on the street.  For example, conspirator inmates could purchase Suboxone strips for approximately $3 each and sell them inside JCI for approximately $50 each, or for a profit of more than 1,000 percent.
The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to smuggle and traffic in narcotics within JCI, including MDMA (commonly referred to as "molly" or ecstasy), buprenorphine (commonly referred to as "Suboxone," a prescription opioid used to treat heroin addiction), and synthetic cannabinoids (otherwise known as "K2"), as well as other contraband, including cell phones, alcohol, and tobacco.
According to the indictment, although COs were required to pass through security screening at the entrance to JCI, the COs were able to hide contraband on their persons.  Once the COs had the smuggled contraband inside the facility, they allegedly delivered it to inmates in the kitchens and in bathrooms or closets near where inmates and staff interacted, among other locations.  The indictment alleges that defendant inmates who had jobs that allowed them to move throughout the prison took orders for contraband from inmates and delivered contraband to inmates.  Further, the indictment alleges that defendant COs had sexual relationships with inmates and exchanged sex for contraband.  In addition, these sexual relationships allegedly facilitated smuggling and trafficking relationships between COs and inmates.
According to the indictment, inmates and facilitators paid COs for smuggled contraband in cash, as well as using Cash App, Green Dot cards, and other forms of electronic payments.  Inmate defendants were able to use contraband cell phones or the jail call system to direct outside facilitators to pay corrupt COs directly using the Cash App from within JCI.  Inmate defendants also received payments from inmates for contraband through Green Dot and other forms of electronic payments, often with the assistance of facilitators.
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the racketeering conspiracy and 20 years in prison for the drug trafficking conspiracy.  Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.  A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.  The arrested defendants will have initial appearances in U.S. District Court in Baltimore today.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt.  An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceedings.
The U.S. Attorney expressed appreciation to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, whose staff initiated the JCI investigation and have been full partners in this investigation.
United States Attorney Robert K. Hur commended the FBI and the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services for their work in the investigation.  Mr. Hur thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys Burden H. Walker and Lauren E. Perry, who are prosecuting this case.

High school runners sue to block transgender students from competing in Connecticut

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 05:00 AM PST

The families of three high school cross-country runners are attempting to stop transgender athletes from participating in girls' sports in Connecticut by filing a federal lawsuit one day before the start of the state's indoor track championships.

Students Selina Soule, Chelsea Mitchell, and Alanna Smith say that allowing students with male anatomy to participate in sports against female-born athletes hinders their competitive opportunities. The lawsuit was filed against the Connecticut Association of Schools and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which require that students be treated according to the gender with which they identify, in keeping with the state's anti-discrimination law and with local boards of education for Bloomfield, Cromwell, Glastonbury, Canton, and Danbury.

"Mentally and physically, we know the outcome before the race even starts," Smith told the Associated Press on Wednesday. "That biological unfairness doesn't go away because of what someone believes about gender identity. All girls deserve the chance to compete on a level playing field." Smith is the daughter of former Major League pitcher Lee Smith.
