Powell Convention Center. The turnout and support from the community was remarkable. During the hearing, we echoed the Town of Ocean City's standing. We support clean renewable energy, the potential of new jobs and the economic benefit to Maryland, but ask that these projects are placed out of our viewshed. Both Virginia and the Carolina's have taken measures to protect their natural shoreline by requiring wind farms to be further off the coasts. Why can't Maryland do the same? Further, since these projects have already been delayed by the developers, we have time for the Public Service Commission to open an evidentiary hearing based on the material changes. Troopers Investigating Serious Crash- Bridgeville Posted: 24 Jan 2020 07:00 PM PST Bridgeville– The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a single vehicle that occurred last evening. The incident occurred on January 23, 2020 at approximately 11:20 p.m., when a 2019 International Box Truck was traveling eastbound on Federalsburg Road approaching the intersection with Barnes Road. As the operator approached this intersection, he encountered a stop sign with post lying in the middle of the eastbound lane of travel within the intersection. To avoid this sign, the operator swerved causing the truck to strike a ditch and overturn. The operator of the box truck, a 32-year-old male from Seaford, DE was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The eastbound lane of Federalsburg Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. Through further investigations it was determined that the stop sign did not sustain damage and appeared to have been pulled from its posted location and intentionally thrown in the roadway prior to this crash. The Delaware State Police, Troop 5 have been made aware of two other signs being removed from the ground and placed either in the roadway or on the shoulder. All three incidents have occurred in the area of Bridgeville west of US 13. The Delaware State Police are asking anyone that has information in reference to this crash or the removal of the signs in the Bridgeville area to please contact Troop 5, TFC. K. Trump administration approves construction of Keystone XL pipeline on US land, moving project closer to completion Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:30 PM PST The Trump administration has approved a right of way allowing construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline on U.S. land, moving the project one step closer toward completion after years of political and legal battles. The segment of land cleared, approximately 46 miles in Montana, is only a small fraction of the overall pipeline but was "crucial" to move the project forward, according to the Associated Press. "Today's decision is an important milestone in constructing the Keystone XL pipeline and a great day for the common sense infrastructure improvement in our country," Secretary of Interior David Bernhardt said in a statement. "President Trump clearly recognizes the importance of having the infrastructure necessary to meet our energy needs and to fuel our economic progress." More

ICE HSI Wilmington and Delaware U.S. Attorney's Office recover most rare stolen Christopher Columbus letter Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:00 PM PST WILMINGTON, Delaware — On Wednesday, Jan. 22, for the fourth time since 2016, U.S. Attorney for District of Delaware and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Wilmington announced that they have recovered a more than 500-year-old copy of Christopher Columbus' letter describing his discoveries in the Americas to the Government of Italy. This announcement follows a court filing in the District of Delaware, which ordered the return of this historic document to the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice, Italy. This letter, commonly known as a Plannck I edition ("Columbus Letter-Plannck I"), is exceptionally rare because this first edition only mentions the King of Spain, while the second edition, commonly known as Plannck II, acknowledges both the King and Queen of Spain. This Columbus Letter-Plannck I is valued in excess of $1,300,000. Following a lengthy investigation by HSI, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Delaware, and the Italian Carabinieri Command for Protection of Cultural Heritage, investigators determined that, sometime in or around 1875, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice, Italy acquired a copy of the Columbus Letter-Plannck I, described above. At an unknown time between 1985 and 1988, the Columbus Letter-Plannck I was stolen from the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. Unlike prior recovered Columbus letters, this Columbus Letter-Plannck I was not replaced with a forgery, but instead was missing from the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana for decades. The investigation determined that, in May 2003, a collector acting in good faith unknowingly purchased the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana's Columbus Letter-Plannck I letter from a rare book dealer in the United States. In 2019, following negotiations between the U.S. Attorney's Office and representatives for the individual in possession of the letter, the parties agreed to permit Dr. Paul Needham from Princeton University to inspect the Columbus Letter-Plannck I, along with important evidence provided by the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. Dr. Needham's inspection ultimately assisted investigators in determining that the Columbus Letter-Plannck I was, in fact, the stolen letter that belonged to the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. Accordingly, the individual in possession of the Columbus Letter-Plannck I voluntarily agreed to relinquish title and interest in the letter. U.S. Attorney Weiss stated that, "We continue to be thankful for our strong law enforcement partnership with the Government of Italy to combat cross-border crimes that bring stolen cultural property into the United States for sale. This recovery is an excellent example of international law enforcement collaboration resulting in the return of world treasurers to their rightful owners. I commend the efforts of those involved in this case, including Dr. Needham for his expertise in this field." "Culturally significant artifacts are assigned a monetary value in the world's marketplaces in which they are traded," said William Walker, Acting Special Agent in Charge of HSI Philadelphia. "But the cultural and symbolic worth of these objects far surpasses any given dollar value to the nations to whom they rightfully belong. HSI is pleased that today's court action is a positive step toward returning this five-century old Christopher Columbus letter to the people of Italy." The case is being investigated by Special Agent Mark Olexa and Investigator Mario Coppola, HSI and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie M. McCall for the District of Delaware.

The Open Society Policy Center spent $24 million into lobbying efforts during the fourth quarter of 2019, according to disclosures filed Monday. Since President Trump's election, the Soros-connected lobbying group has spent nearly $100 million — $48 million in 2019 alone — which amounts to $40 million more than the previous 14 years of spending combined, according to the Washington Free Beacon. Court documents show the teen weighed 22 pounds when he was three years old, and just 26 pounds at age 16. Investigators say in all the years in between, the child had no doctor appointments or medical care. "The family lives internally amongst each other," said Det. Sgt. Alleged al-Qaeda Jihadis Caught Trying to Enter U.S. with Fake Colombian Passports Posted: 24 Jan 2020 02:00 PM PST American authorities identified and apprehended three Syrian nationals accused of belonging to al-Qaeda in Dallas, Texas, from Colombia, the Colombian news agency RCN reported on Thursday, publishing images of the three individuals' fake passports. According to RCN, American law enforcement identified the three individuals as Al Raefee, Tuameh Tuameh, and Al Harari Al Harari. The three are believed to be in U.S. custody, soon to be charged with membership in a terrorist organization. The men appear to have entered Colombia through Venezuela, where they acquired Colombian residency paperwork, a government identification card, and a Colombian passport through an illegal documentation network. Journalist Luis Carlos Vélez reportedly stated that the U.S. embassy identified them as al-Qaeda terrorists when they attempted to procure U.S. visas, which does not align with the RCN report that police arrested them in Dallas. The RCN report does not note if Dallas authorities arrested them at the airport, which would suggest the men did receive U.S. visas and got on board a flight to the country, or if they arrived by other means. The new rule, which will replace the Obama administration waters of the U.S., or WOTUS, rule, is meant to fulfill one of President Trump's major energy and environmental priorities. Trump, in recent remarks to the American Farm Bureau, called the WOTUS rule "one of the most ridiculous regulations of all," saying it "gave bureaucrats virtually unlimited authority to regulate stock tanks, drainage ditches, and isolated ponds as navigable waterways and navigable water." Mustafa al Imam, 47, was convicted in June of conspiring to support terrorists and destroying government property. They're turning away patients with symptoms and are using social media to appeal for medical supplies. Authorities in Wuhan began building a 1000-bed hospital to deal with the coronavirus outbreak on Thursday night, and say it will be finished in just six days. The rapid construction project is a reaction to the unraveling situation in the central Chinese city, which has been closed off from the outside. Hospitals are running out of beds and medical supplies, while patients presenting with coronavirus symptoms have been turned away. The situation has led to growing criticism for the slow reaction to the crisis by authorities in Wuhan and in Beijing. The virus has now killed 26 people and infected 830 worldwide. Work began on the new hospital — which will effectively act as a quarantine center — in the Caidian district of Wuhan on Thursday night, Chinese state media reported. 'Show up to court with a toothbrush': ICE says sanctuary city officials should expect jail time if they ignore subpoenas Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:30 AM PST U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is prepared to go to court with two "sanctuary cities," New York City, New York, and Denver, Colorado, if they fail to provide personal information on illegal immigrants with criminal records released in each city instead of being transferred to ICE. "We expect them to comply" with subpoenas for the information, said acting ICE Director Matt Albence at a press conference in Washington on Thursday. "If they don't comply, we'll be working with DOJ to go to district court to force them to comply with the requirements," Albence said, noting the rule in the U.S. Code that he said justified the move. "The individuals that fail to comply can be held in contempt," he said. "They can show up to court with a toothbrush because they might not be going home that night. Because they could be jailed for failure to comply with a lawful order from a judge. That's the route we're going." ICE looks at local arrests to see if a person is illegally in the country.
