Thank You Baltimore Ravens For A Great Season! Posted: 12 Jan 2020 08:11 AM PST Considering it's almost mid January and we were fortunate enough to open the back bar yesterday for the NFL games, the turnout was incredible. The first image, (above) shows my parking lot was completely full. Then came the Ravens loss and I started handing out tissues. At the bar every seat was taken, (mostly women) and the back bar had a nice group of people enjoying the outdoor TV's and fire pit. As for the Ravens, well, they had 2 weeks off and it clearly showed they weren't as hungry to win as the Titans. Love the Titans or hate them, you have to admit they played an incredible game and deserved to win. If there's one thing I can say about the NFL games this season, there are incredibly talented players this year on all teams and watching all the games I could I've enjoyed the talent across the board. Come check out the new Caribbean Joe's in West Ocean City. Today's NFL games are as follows. Texans vs. Chiefs 3:05 PM Seahawks vs. Packers 6:40 PM |

A Viewer Writes: Questionable treatment of long tenure Wicomico County Sheriff Deputies Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST As I was enjoying my day at a local eatery I was shocked to learn of the treatment some long term Sheriff Deputies who were injured in the line of the duty and had returned to work on light duty were experiencing from their own Sheriff, Mike Lewis. Sheriff Mike Lewis and his staff notified the Deputies on light duty on December 31st that they would be required to do rotational 11 hour shift work starting on January 1st. In addition to changing the impacted Deputies Sheriff Mike Lewis also changed their reporting structure to have the long tenured Deputies (all with 20 or more years of service) to report to someone currently out of the line of command. After hearing of this questionable leadership decision from Sheriff Mike Lewis I asked the eatery patrons was there any other questionable things that the long service employees endured. I was shocked with the response from the patrons. I was told of a few more questionable actions by the Wicomico County Sheriff Department. The major questionable action that was experience was that upon the return of the Deputies from Workers Compensation claims that the Deputies were forced to pay back over $600 a month which they were unaware of or could plan for. Throughout the conversation I kept asking myself is this the way we treat Veterans and long service employees? I hope that we do not treat our civil servants this way after they put their life on the line day in and day out. Our Deputies are doing many jobs that we do not want to do nor provide them a thank you for doing. I believe we owe it to them and ourselves to hold Sheriff Mike Lewis and his staff accountable for the way that they are treating their employees who have been hurt in the line of duty and work every day to make Wicomico and the surrounding area better for you and I. Please join me in attempting to get better answers and treatment for our injured Deputies. |
A Viewer Writes: Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Posts About Airport Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST Jake Day makes a post on his FB page last Monday about the Salisbury Wicomico County Airport making it sound like it's his Airport. No Jake Day that Airport is Wicomico County's Airport and not yours or the City of Salisbury's. It's no where even close to the City limits. His blind followers think it's his and even asks him questions. The funny thing is he didn't know the answers and ignored his followers. Publishers Notes: Perhaps Jake should stroke Wicomico County a check for $17,000,000.00 for 1/2 of the cost of the new runway going in! After all Jake, you IMPLY the City is involved but has NEVER ponied up a dime to financially support the airport. On a side note, I heard his wife Liz will likely get PROBATION and get this, she may even get her job back! Mike Lewis really screwed the public on this one with those BS charges. |

FREE MONEY: Chelsea Clinton Hauls In $9 Million From Corporate Board Position Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST In 1978 and 1979, Hillary Rodham Clinton conducted a series of trades in cattle futures. Appeals court rules Trump can use nearly $4 billion in military funds for border wall Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST A federal appeals court late Wednesday ruled the Trump Administration can use nearly $4 billion in military funds for construction of the president's long-promised border wall. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed an earlier decision by El Paso-based U.S. District Judge David Briones that blocked the spending. The latest decision allows the funds to be spent while the case plays out in its appeal. The $3.6 billion had been earmarked by the Trump administration for construction of 11 barriers on the southern border, CNN reported Wednesday. The original lawsuit was filed by El Paso County and the Border Network for Human Rights, an El Paso-based advocacy group. The Trump administration asked the appeals court to consider the matter on Dec. 16. More |

Borden Becomes Second Big US Milk Producer to File for Bankruptcy Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST Borden Dairy Co. filed for bankruptcy late Sunday, becoming the second major U.S. milk producer to do so in recent months as rising milk prices and other challenges made its debt load unsustainable. The Dallas-based company listed assets and liabilities of between $100 million and $500 million in its Chapter 11 filing in Delaware. The company, founded more than 160 years ago, said in a statement that operations will continue as normal during the reorganization. The bankruptcy filing comes less than two months after larger rival Dean Foods Co. filed for Chapter 11 in Houston. Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST United Kingdom – A "devastated" Muslim man is demanding an apology and compensation after he bit into a pork sausage McMuffin that McDonald's accidentally served him. Fida Hussein, 49, says he ordered an egg and cheese McMuffin without any meat, but a McDonald's employee accidentally added pork sausage to the breakfast sandwich. Hussein said he immediately knew something was wrong when he took a bite of the pork and said it left him "devastated." "I trusted them, he explains. "I was watching Judge Judy and bit into the McMuffin and knew instantly when I tasted it that it was meat." "The taste was horrible, I knew straightaway and spat it out. It's just completely wrong. It's a sensitive subject, it could happen to anyone, vegan or if a person is on a particular diet." McDonald's has offered Hussein food vouchers, but he's not happy with their offer and said it's not enough. Hussein called the mistake McDonald's made "diabolical" and said the employees should never make mistakes. More |
Atheists want famous 9/11 cross in Effingham, Illinois, erased in highway mural Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST A colorful mural that shows the famous white 9/11 cross in Effingham, Illinois, has become the latest flashpoint over religious freedom, pitting atheists and a group opposed to mingling church and state against the legal group that saved the iconic American Legion peace cross in Bladensburg, Maryland. Just before Christmas, the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation asked Effingham to erase the cross depicted in a mural that also shows an American flag on an overpass near Effingham High School, claiming that it sends the wrong message to students. "A mural that depicts nothing except a Latin cross alongside the American flag sends a clear message: that patriotism and religiosity are interrelated," said the group in a letter to Effingham Mayor Mike Schutzbach. Maryland Legislator Wants To Steer Low-Income Housing To Affluent Suburban Neighborhoods Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST A Maryland legislator wants to identify affluent suburban neighborhoods and target them for low-income, high-density housing. House Del. Vaughn Stewart, a Democrat, wrote Jan. 3 that he will introduce "Homes for All" legislation that would "legalize the construction of modest homes in neighborhoods close to affluent schools, reliable transit, and good jobs." "For too long, local governments have weaponized zoning codes to block people of color and the working class from high-opportunity neighborhoods, pushing them to the crumbling margins of cities and towns. We must act boldly to reverse decades of these exclusionary policies," he wrote. More |

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 1-7-20 Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST Darrin Johnson said... Special thanks to Shane Baker and everyone that has shown support for the Deputies injured in the line of duty. For a Deputy to openly show support and not conceal his identity while making his comments I felt compelled to share my story to let everyone know how I was injured. My injury occurred while I was rendering aid to a lady trapped inside an overturned vehicle following an auto accident. The injury I suffered dramatically changed my life forever and left me needing multiple surgeries to walk again and attempt to reclaim my independence. After my first surgery I was told that I would not walk again without the assistance of crutches, a walker or a cane unless I had a second surgery. I am now going through the process of of healing and walking with pain & limitations. I am thankful that I am able to walk again. In my career for the past 29 years I've faithfully served the citizens of Wicomico County. |
Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:01 AM PST "We Have a Generational Responsibility to Protect the Bay, and We Simply Cannot Afford to Fall Short of These Shared Obligations" ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today directed Attorney General Brian Frosh to pursue legal actions against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in order to protect Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts. Since his campaign for governor in 2014, Governor Hogan has repeatedly called on upstream states—including Pennsylvania—to step up and take responsibility for sediment and debris that pours into the Chesapeake Bay via the Susquehanna River. "We have a generational responsibility to protect the Bay, and we simply cannot afford to fall short of these shared obligations," writes Governor Hogan. "Therefore, I ask that you commence litigation against the EPA and Pennsylvania, and in close coordination with the Maryland Department of the Environment." Read the governor's letter to the Attorney General here. In August, after watershed states submitted their final Chesapeake Bay clean-up plans to the federal administration, the governor expressed "alarming concerns" about Pennsylvania's lack of progress on clean water goals and called on the EPA to use its robust oversight powers to hold states accountable. "Pennsylvania, which is under 'enhanced' or 'backstop' federal oversight due to failed pollution reduction efforts, has proposed a draft Phase III Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) under which it would fall drastically short of its agreed-upon 2025 pollution reduction targets," writes Governor Hogan. "The EPA currently appears to have no intention of taking the necessary action to ensure Pennsylvania's compliance with its commitments." Governor Hogan is serving his second term as chairman of the Chesapeake Executive Council, which consists of the governors of the six watershed states, the mayor of the District of Columbia, the chair of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, and the EPA administrator. As governor, he has committed an historic $5 billion toward wide-ranging Bay restoration initiatives, and was recently successful in securing an increase in federal funding for Bay cleanup. |
Bloomberg sees California as model for U.S. Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST The Democrat presidential candidate and former New York City mayor likes a lot of what he sees in the Golden State and thinks its efforts on climate change, gun control and criminal justice reform sets a benchmark for other states to emulate. "I think that California can serve as a great example for the rest of this country," Bloomberg told supporters at the opening of his Angeles headquarters. Yes, there are problems, including homelessness, struggling public schools and scarce, costly housing. But California "is something the rest of the country looks up to," Bloomberg said. "California has been a leader in an awful lot of things." More here |

Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST Transgender activist Jessica Yaniv has filed another human rights complaint against a Canadian beauty salon after workers refused to wax Yaniv's male genitalia. The latest complaint comes against She Point Beauty Studio, which offers Brazilian bikini waxes and leg waxes. The salon is run by East Indian women who are part of the Sikh religion. They rejected Yaniv's request for waxes based on religious and cultural reasons, according to the Justice Centre, which is defending the women. "Women have a constitutional right not to be compelled to touch biological males in an intimate or highly personal manner if they are not comfortable doing so," Jay Cameron, an attorney with the Justice Centre, said in a Tuesday statement. "Like male genital waxing, our client does not offer male leg waxing services to the public, and we intend to vigorously defend against this targeted harassment on behalf of our client." More |
Limbaugh on possible war with Iran or North Korea: America 'cannot lose' Posted: 12 Jan 2020 04:00 AM PST Rush Limbaugh boldly said Tuesday that the United States "cannot lose" if faced with a war against Iran or North Korea, adding that the Democrats continue to be blinded by their hatred toward President Trump. "No Democrat out there speaking right now understands that Donald Trump cannot lose any of these arguments that he's having with Iran or with North Korea," Limbaugh said on his radio show. "We cannot lose if we decide to engage. We cannot lose." Limbaugh explained that America's military capabilities far exceed any threat that Iran and North Korea could present. "We have the military agents of destruction ready to launch on North Korea and Iran or any other enemy on a moment's notice. Not from here, from there," Limbaugh said. "We are everywhere and we have the ability to project power unlike any other nation in the world." "Bottom line is the United States could destroy every strategically relevant military and economic target in Iran in 30 minutes," Limbaugh added. "But this is one of the reasons why the American left so despises America, because we do have this ability and nobody else does."
