Soros Gathering With Top Democrats in D.C to Plot Trump Resistance

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 10:00 PM PST

Democracy Alliance seeks to combat 'massive threats' from Trump, Republicans

Liberal billionaire George Soros is meeting behind closed doors with top Democrats to plot a resistance strategy against President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans.

The three-day conference began Sunday at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Washington, D.C., and is sponsored by deep-pocketed liberal members of the dark money Democracy Alliance donor network,Politico's Ken Vogel first reported. The group will seek to pick up the pieces from the 2016 election, plot its strategy for upcoming elections, and map out a game plan to battle Trump during his first 100 days in office.

"The first 100 days of a new presidency has become an important measure of the early success of a new administration," the group's agenda reads. "It's a period typically seen as a time when monumental change can occur as the president, armed with the good will and political capital that comes with being the new president, is able to marshal new legislation through Congress."

The agenda, which was drafted before the election, was geared toward a Hillary Clinton presidency. However, following Trump's victory, the group shifted gears to figure out what happened in the election and ways of "combating the massive threats from Trump and Congress in 2017."

Donald Trump Boosts Europe's Anti-Establishment Movement

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:00 PM PST

"America has just liberated itself from political correctness. The American people expressed their desire to remain a free and democratic people. Now it is time for Europe. We can and will do the same!" — Geert Wilders, Dutch MP, head of the Party for Freedom (PVV), and now on trial in the Netherlands for free speech.

"2016 is, by the looks of it, going to be the year of two great political revolutions. I thought Brexit was big but boy this looks like it is going to be even bigger." — Nigel Farage, MEP and leader of the UK Independence Party.

"The political class is reviled across much of the West, the polling industry is bankrupt and the press just hasn't woken up to what's going on in the world." — Nigel Farage.

"In a democracy, when the people feel ignored and despised, they will find a way to be heard. This vote is the consequence of a revolt of the middle class against a ruling elite that wants to impose what they should think."— Laurent Wauquiez, leader of the French opposition party The Republicans.

Donald Trump's electoral victory has come as a shock to Europe's political and media establishment, which fears that the political sea change underway in the United States will energize populist parties in Europe.

Rep. Dave Brat: Ryan Should Explain Agenda Before Holding Speaker Vote

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 08:00 PM PST

In two days, the members of the House of Representatives are being asked to vote for a Speaker who will push through an agenda in 100 days. The question remains: what agenda? I will not vote for any speaker until I know the complete answer to that question.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) said Trump has turned politics on its head and that that Trump "heard a voice in this country that no one else heard."

Not quite.

Some of us were listening to the voices of the forgotten and downtrodden American workers. Some of us have been struggling to carry that message to the elites and media in D.C. who have, until now, paid no attention to what those voices had to say.

Tuesday was not a surprise. It was a referendum, a call to attention and action by those who for years have felt abandoned by the political insiders, party elites, and corporate media that control Washington, D.C.

Not everyone missed what Trump heard. Some of us were listening and many of us have run on these breakthrough issues for years. The fight began with the Tea Party revolution in 2010 when folks made it very clear they were not happy with how things were being run in D.C.

Afterwards, GOP leadership promised to repeal Obamacare and to end Obama's rule by executive order. They said they would fight "tooth and nail;" but then left the teeth and nails at home.

Police Charge 2 Men with Brutally Assaulting Trump Supporter

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:00 PM PST

Police in Meriden, Connecticut arrested two men on Saturday, charging them with attacking a middle-aged man who was displaying a pro-Donald Trump sign in public.

From WTNH.com:

At noon on Saturday, a Meriden Lieutenant was parked on Hanover Street where he saw a man standing on the traffic island at Hanover and Colony Streets waving a Donald Trump sign and an American flag.

Police say a silver car stopped at the island, two men got out and began punching and kicking the man, knocking him into the street. The Lieutenant intervened and arrested the two men. The victim told police that the two men gave him the finger, he responded "same to you" and then the assault started.

The two men were identified as 32-year-old Wilson Echevarria and 36-year-old Anthony Hobdy, both of Meriden. Police say Hobdy had 54 bags of heroin packaged for sale on him at the time of the arrest and was wanted on four separate warrants.

Soros And Liberal Mega-Donors Plot For War With Donald Trump

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:00 PM PST

George Soros and other liberal mega-donors are gathering in Washington for a three-day, closed-door meeting where they will discuss opposing Trump's plan for his first 100 days in office.

According to Politico, the meeting, which began on Sunday night at Washington's Mandarin Oriental hotel, is sponsored by the influential Democracy Alliance donor club and will include darlings of the left such as House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairman Keith Ellison.

Politico reports:

The meeting is the first major gathering of the institutional left since Trump's shocking victory over Hillary Clinton in last week's presidential election, and, if the agenda is any indication, liberals plan full-on trench warfare against Trump from Day One. Some sessions deal with gearing up for 2017 and 2018 elections, while others focus on thwarting President-elect Trump's 100-day plan, which the agenda calls "a terrifying assault on President Obama's achievements — and our progressive vision for an equitable and just nation."

Yet the meeting also comes as many liberals are reassessing their approach to politics — and the role of the Democracy Alliance, or DA, as the club is known in Democratic finance circles. The DA, its donors and beneficiary groups over the last decade have had a major hand in shaping the institutions of the left, including by orienting some of its key organizations around Clinton, and by basing their strategy around the idea that minorities and women constituted a so-called "rising American electorate" that could tip elections to Democrats.

McCarthy: ‘Just because something is offensive does not make it illegal’

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:30 PM PST

WASHINGTON — As police investigate who scrawled "Trump nation whites only" on a sign outside a Silver Spring church, and who drew a swastika in a Bethesda middle school bathroom, Montgomery County's state's attorney says there's a difference between vandalism and free speech.

"I think as Americans, we recognize that there are tremendously broad free speech protections that exist in the United States," said John McCarthy. "Just because something is offensive does not make it illegal."

McCarthy said he has heard anecdotes from around the region of gloating, taunting comments aimed at minorities, often mentioned in conjunction with the election of Donald Trump.

"These kinds of demonstrated activities are instances where we as a community have opportunities to educate people on issues of tolerance, particularly with our kids in schools," said McCarthy.

Pelosi to Continue to Lead House Democrats to Glorious Defeat

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:00 PM PST

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who served as Speaker of the House before leading the Democratic Party caucus to a historic defeat in 2010 from which it has never recovered, will maintain her grip on power as House Minority Leader in the 115th Congress.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

Pelosi's office would not comment about her future role but did nothing to discourage speculation that she would try to keep her job as minority leader. Democrats gained just six of the 30 seats she needed in her longshot bid to regain the speakership post that she held from 2007 to 2011, leaving Democrats at a severe 241 to 194 disadvantage against Republicans.

Durham County defends handling of 90,000 ballots in N.C. governor’s race

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:00 PM PST

Durham County's elections board is defending itself against charges by Gov. Pat McCrory's campaign of wrongful or illegal conduct in the reporting late on election night of 94,000 votes cast in the heavily Democratic county.

The elections board released a blow-by-blow description of what happened after a lawyer for the state Republican Party this weekend filed a formal protest accusing the board of "malfeasance" in counting the ballots.

McCrory's campaign team wants Durham County to manually recount each of the original paper ballots before reporting official results this week. Under state law, counties will complete a canvass of all their votes by Friday. The state elections board is scheduled to make the election results official late this month. Candidates could then appeal decisions they oppose to state courts. The Republican-dominated Legislature could ultimately determine the outcome if left unresolved by elections boards and judges.

McCrory's re-election effort was in the lead for much election night until the more than 94,000 votes from Durham County were reported shortly before midnight. That turned the advantage to Democrat and Attorney General Roy Cooper.

In Maryland, Efforts to Streamline Exonerations Stymied

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 03:30 PM PST

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Sabein Burgess wasted no time trying to prove his innocence.

Convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in June 1995, the then-24-year-old waited just 10 days after his trial before filing a motion for a new one.

The act was his first step in a battle that would last 19 years, during which the Baltimore resident would spend the prime of his life in a jail cell.

"From the day I was locked up, I was saying I was innocent," Burgess, now 46, said. "From the night I spent in homicide to the day I came home (from prison)."

Baltimore City prosecutors had charged Burgess with the murder of his then-girlfriend, Michelle Dyson, whom he discovered fatally shot in the basement of her Baltimore home that fall. Evidence against him included gunpowder residue discovered on his hands; none was ever found on his body or clothes, according to the National Registry of Exonerations.

Subject: Message to the Campus Community

To the Salisbury University community:

A contentious election season marked by negativity has come to a close. In the aftermath of this process, we acknowledge that there is understandable consternation among members of our University community. However, whatever positions we held in this process, we all need to find ways to move forward constructively and to strive for the common good.

Especially in times of significant national change like this, Salisbury University stands firm in its commitment to our long-standing core values of diversity and inclusion. We embrace these values in everything we do at the University, and we must continue to foster an environment where our differences are celebrated as much as our commonalities. Therefore, we remain absolutely committed to providing a safe environment for all members of our community where the richness of ideas, backgrounds and perspectives are harnessed and celebrated to achieve excellence.

We remind all that each member of this community deserves the full respect of every other. This is a time of significant change and some are happy and energized by that, while others are sad and even fearful of what that could mean. We should recognize that not everyone feels as we do. We must continue to respect differences of opinion, maintain civility, and create the conditions for respectful dialogue that allow mutual education to take place. The University will continue to pursue and protect these principles now and in the future, and urges our students, faculty, staff and all others to do so as well.

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 03:00 PM PST

Last year yielded 2,988 shooting victims.

According to the Chicago Tribune, 3,871 shootings took place in Chicago from January 1, 2016, to November 14, 2016. That figure includes both fatalities and non-fatalities.

Horowitz: Anti-Bannon Hysteria More Evidence the Left Has Lost Touch with the American People

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 02:00 PM PST

The losers of the left have worked themselves into such a bizarre hysteria over the fact that they lost the White House that they have lost all connection to reality and are now hyping their most ludicrously paranoid fantasies.

The function of this lunacy is to put off the inevitable moment when they are going to come back to Earth and reckon with the fact that they were horribly wrong and the American people have rejected them. For them, Stephen K. Bannon is the straw man of the hour.

I can't think of anything stupider than the charge coming from all quarters of the left–including a headline in the pathetically wretched Huffington Post–that Bannon is an anti-Semite. The source? A one sentence claim from an angry ex-wife in divorce court no less, that Bannon didn't want their kids to go to school with Jews. I find that particularly amusing since Bannon wanted to make a film to celebrate this Jew's life.

Not to be outdone, CNN, which has been particularly vicious, did a nasty attack on Bannon using another of the thinnest reeds available: This was a headline at Breitbart.com calling Bill Kristol a "renegade Jew." In fact, neither Breitbart nor Bannon is responsible for that statement. A Jew is. I wrote the article, which was neither requested nor commissioned by Breitbart. And I wrote the headline: "Bill Kristol, Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew."

I wrote the article when Kristol set out to lead the "Never Trump" movement, after Trump had secured the Republican nomination..

Commissioner Lionel Frederick guilty of extortion, malfeasance in office

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 11:15 AM PST

PRINCESS ANNE — Princess Anne Town Commissioner Lionel D. Frederick II was found guilty Nov. 15 of extortion as a government official and malfeasance in office following a court trial in Somerset County Circuit Court. Presiding over the case was visiting Wicomico County Circuit Court Judge S. James Sarbanes.

Remaining free on his own recognizance, the judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation. The felony charge of extortion has a maximum sentence of 10 years and/or a $10,000 fine, while the common law misconduct charge has no prescribed maximum sentence. Frederick's attorney Wm. A. Lee Clarke said an appeal with the Court of Special Appeals would be the next step after sentencing.

In the meantime a peace order that prevented Frederick from even going to town hall was modified by Judge Sarbanes so that the first-term at-large commissioner can attend meetings but "exercise common sense" in his interactions with Commissioner Dennis Williams. He is to have no other contact with the District 2 commissioner by phone or through social media. "Stay within the bounds of common sense," the judge said.

Betting the Farm and Losing: Banks Seek Collateral as Debts Rise

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 11:00 AM PST

Betting the farm on record crop, livestock and dairy prices has turned into a losing investment for an expanding share of America's agricultural heartland. The level of debt to income is the highest in three decades, and growers are increasingly unable to make loan payments.

Four years after record U.S. crop and farmland values boosted purchases of land and equipment, a global surplus has sent prices tumbling and farm income into the longest slump since 1977. The Federal Reserve says growers are borrowing more to pay bills, repayment rates are plunging, and the number of bankers requesting additional collateral is the highest in 25 years.

While low interest rates and savings from big paydays not long ago have kept farmers in better financial shape than the bankruptcy crisis of the mid-1980s, signs of stress are increasing, especially for growers who invested during the boom years. Farm income is down 42 percent from a record in 2013, government data show, and MetLife Agricultural Finance predicts farmland values will tumble 20 percent by 2018.

"Unquestionably, some farmers are not going to make it," said Dan Kowalski, director of research at CoBank, an agricultural lending cooperative based in Greenwood Village, Colorado. "If they made aggressive growth decisions and did it with debt, that won't work out well. Credit quality is starting to slip on the farm and smaller agricultural businesses. Bankers are asking if they have the cash flow to pay bills."

Trump's Geographic Landslide

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 10:00 AM PST

Donald Trump won the presidency, but Hillary won the Popular Vote by a margin of 206,379 or so.

That fact caused Simon Rosenberg, a veteran Democratic strategist and the president of the NDN think tank to moan about aDemocratic Party in Crisis.

"We are the only democracy in the developed world where if you win more votes you don't control the government and the legislature. There is not a wholesale rejection of the Democratic party and the Democratic brand, that's not what happened last night despite the fact we now have less power than we've had since 1928."

Let's investigate Rosenberg's complaint another way.

We attended the free dinner tonight for our Veterans, at he Golden Corral. Our ROTC was ask to come to present the colors and National Anthem. One of the boys even sang the National Anthem.

When they were finished they were ask to leave they weren't
needed by the owner. In previous these boys always stayed to hold the doors, direct Veterans to their table and helped Veterans who needed help with their trays etc. They were allowed to share the meal. These boys and girls were treated with a great deal of disrespect.

The manager Jennifer was so embarrassed she was about in tears.

The owner was in the office and would not come out. He just yelled out his orders. I think he owes the young people an apology.

The warent officer took the boys out for pizza so he assured the boys had dinner. I also noticed there was not a lot of fan fair as usual. No movie on the TV's promoting the DAV as advertised for. I also notice about half as many Veterans showed up. Wonder why? Maybe they no longer appreciate our Veterans.

Profs Demand University President Stop Quoting Jefferson At His Own School

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:45 AM PST

A group of 469 professors and students at the University of Virginia (UVA) are calling for the school's president to stop quoting school founder Thomas Jefferson, on the grounds that Jefferson was a slave owner.

In a post-election email to the UVA community, school president Teresa Sullivan included a Jefferson quote saying that UVA students, "are not of ordinary significance only: they are exactly the persons who are to succeed to the government of our country, and to rule its future enmities, its friendships and fortunes." Sullivan encouraged modern UVA students to "embrace that responsibility."

But some at UVA say that quoting Jefferson in such a manner is completely unacceptable.

"We would like for our administration to understand that although some members of this community may have come to this university because of Thomas Jefferson's legacy, others of us came here in spite of it," the public letter says. "For many of us, the inclusion of Jefferson quotations in these e-mails undermines the message of unity, equality and civility that you are attempting to convey."

Trump's Plan for Coal Industry Revival Means Big EPA Changes

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:37 AM PST

President-elect Donald Trump's goal to jump-start the coal industry will likely mean tossing out the Environmental Protection Agency's climate control agenda, the Washington Examiner reports.

Under Trump, the EPA is expected to focus on "genuine pollutants" that pose immediate problems to the public's well-being. It would move away from carbon pollution, which has been blamed for causing man-made globe warming.

"He's very much for clean air and clean water," Kathleen Hartnett-White, a member of Trump's economic advisory council, told the Washington Examiner. "But the better home for considering this discussion about carbon dioxide and climate is in the Department of Energy."

She said regulating carbon dioxide "is the killer of coal."

"Carbon dioxide has no adverse impact in the air we breath at all," Hartnett-White said. "It's a harmless trace gas that is actually an essential nutrient for plants."

Soros, Big Donors to Meet at Anti-Trump Conclave

The three-day conference of the powerful Democracy Alliance donor club began Sunday. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairman Keith Ellison were scheduled to address the group, Politico said.

"If the agenda is any indication, liberals plan full-on trench warfare against Trump from Day One," the website noted.

Judicial Watch Appeals to U.S. Supreme Court to Overturn Maryland Congressional Gerrymander

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:15 AM PST

'[T]he gerrymandering of Maryland's congressional districts … allows Maryland's legislators to steal for themselves a significant portion of the power to select congresspersons, which power should only by exercised 'by the People.'

(Washington, DC) —
Judicial Watch asked the U. S. Supreme Court to overturn a district court decision dismissing a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Maryland's 2011 gerrymandering of its congressional districts. The Judicial Watch lawsuit argues that the controversial redistricting transferred "the power to select congressional representatives from Maryland's voters to legislators." The lawsuit, (Parrott, et al, v. Lamone, et al (No. 1:15-cv-01849)), was filed on behalf of voters in each of Maryland's eight congressional districts in June 2015. The Supreme Court appeal was filed on October 28, 2016.

In August 2016, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland ruled for the State in dismissing the plaintiffs' claims. Judicial Watch is seeking Supreme Court review of the district court's decision, arguing that Maryland's gerrymandered districts violate the plaintiffs' constitutional rights. Cases involving legislative redistricting are heard by a special three judge panel, and the decision of that panel can be appealed directly to the U.S. Supreme Court, bypassing the intermediate courts of appeals.

The lawsuit challenges a congressional districting plan signed into law by then-Gov. Martin O'Malley in October 2011. The suit alleges that the Maryland's congressional district map is the most gerrymandered in the country. According to the Judicial Watch Supreme Court appeal:

[T]he gerrymandering of Maryland's congressional districts…allows Maryland's legislators to steal for themselves a significant portion of the power to select congresspersons, which power should only by exercised "by the People"… As Appellants have it in their complaint, "[g]errymandering is not something that Democrats and Republicans do to each other. Gerrymandering is something that legislators and other state actors do to voters.'"

The suit argues that gerrymandering violates Article I, § 2 of the Constitution and the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment:

Article I, § 2 of the Constitution requires that members of the House of Representatives shall be chosen "by the People of the several States." The complaint alleges that Senate Bill 1violates this provision by transferring the power to select congressional representatives from Maryland's voters to the legislators who drew and adopted Maryland's congressional district plan.

The complaint also alleges that Maryland's noncompact districts violate the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment by inflicting undue burdens on the plaintiffs' fundamental voting rights. By "ignor[ing] political boundaries," "fragment[ing] political communities of interest," and "confus[ing] voters," gerrymandered districts impose unique burdens on both candidates and voters in those districts.

GANG UP ON GANGS

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:00 AM PST

The recent armed robbery by a gang at the Centre at Salisbury is a symptom of a greater disease. Gang escalation and the crime attendant with it is destroying our community, jobs and property values. It's time to put a stop to it.

It is time now for us to take a stand and cure the disease. As President-Elect Donald J Trump attempts to drain the swamp in Washington, we must do so here on the eastern shore including Sussex and Kent counties in Delaware.

It will take courage, political upheaval, and sadly, likely, blood. One would hope not, but gangs understand one thing and one thing only. Brut strength.

This isn't a racially driven problem either. There are gangs of all races with one intent. Total domination of their "territory."

We the citizens are the keepers of the territory. We must take certain actions before this problem gets out-of-hand any further.

1. Demand more of your local city and county leaders. This includes the police and sheriffs departments. It also includes the City and County Councils. When they have meetings, descend on the meeting in numbers.

Get your friends and neighbors to attend. Carry signs in to the meetings. Protest! Make your voices heard. Let them know you've had enough and will vote them out if they don't take action quickly.

2. Insist they work with neighboring counties and cities. Insist upon an inter-county, interstate, inter-city undercover task force to rout out gang leaders and their followers.

Insist they be relentless, be ruthless, but within the bounds of the Constitution. Raid them. Arrest them. Take out their lieutenants and infrastructure of both personnel and money.

Create a leadership gap making it unlikely for anyone else to step up and lead the gang. Destroy them via incarceration, and if they insist upon shoot-outs, aim straight and true.

This task force, because nothing was done when the problem first reared its ugly head, will have to operate Elliot Ness style.

3. Significant rewards should be placed upon gang leaders heads. They aren't surrounded by the most loyal principled people to begin with. Make the reward substantial. $50,000 a head for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gang leader. $10,000 for lieutenants and mid-level gang management.

Give the whistleblower witness protection including for their family. Give the gangs NO QUARTER.

4. Pass local laws that gang members convicted are placed in solitary confinement 4 weeks on, and 1 day off for the term of their incarceration.

Keep them from colluding behind bars. Isolation and re-education would be the way the law should be mandated. Focusing on rehabilitation would be crucial in preventing further gang related activity upon release.

5. Place undercover police in the schools to rout out gang members in the schools. Educate the children so they don't need to be incarcerated.

Juveniles arrested and convicted should be given tough love by the county. Place them in solitary confinement also, but slowly, as they earn it, allow them to be put back in general population.

Re-education behind bars would do them a world of good and by catching them young, perhaps put them on course for a life out-of-crime.

6. Stand up as citizens. Show up en mass with legal weapons at the Centre at Salisbury and other areas where gangs think they own the territory.

A huge diverse group of men, white, black and brown, carrying baseball bats, batteries and ball bearings in their pockets, to be thrown if necessary, can do much to disabuse gangs of their territory.

Insist on a police presence in shopping centers parks and schools.

7. Fight for your right to safe streets. Get your elected officials on board or kick them off the train. Of course the concern about money to fund these efforts will be brought up. But remember...this is an investment in our community east of the Chesapeake.

If you think you can deal with gangs in a namby-pamby way, they will control your city, make you afraid to be on your own streets and continue to diminish your happiness in life. The gangs and each member of a gang, must be made to feel more afraid of the citizenry than their gang.

Don't ask me how I know. It doesn't matter. But my life experience with gangs has informed me that the only way to deal with gangs is with harsh laws, brut force and a determined citizenry. Stand up!

Please comment below on what you would be willing as a citizen to do. What do you think should be done? Please, no racist comments.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it."

Melania Trump To Sara Netanyahu: Relations Between Our Two Countries, Families Will Be Wonderful

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 08:45 AM PST

TEL AVIV – Melania Trump told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife, Sara, that she and her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, are looking forward to hosting them at the White House soon and relations between the U.S. and Israel, as well as between their two families, "will be wonderful."

The Israeli prime minister took to Facebook to describe Saturday's conversation between the two first women as "heartfelt and warm."

"Mrs. Trump said that she looks forward to our visit at the first opportunity and that there will be wonderful relations between our countries and our families," Netanyahu said.

According to the prime minister, the two women also "discussed the great challenge of raising children under the spotlight that accompanies their fathers who were elected as world leaders. Additionally, they discussed the great importance of emphasizing family time as part of their role as mothers in order to enable their children to grow up in a normal way like all their friends."

On Friday, Trump told the Wall Street Journal that he hopes to put an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict – which he referred to as "the war that never ends" – by striking "the ultimate deal."

"As a deal-maker, I'd like to do… the deal that can't be made. And do it for humanity's sake," the president-elect said.

Population density may have been the key to Trump losing Maryland

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 08:30 AM PST

We're less than a week past the election, yet the counting continues.

Eighteen states were still working through their tabulations as of Thursday, and several news organizations still consider the race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to be too close to call in Michigan and New Hampshire.

But we know the winner, of course. Trump carried (or is leading in) 30 of the 50 states, pushing him past the Electoral College's threshold of 270 electoral votes. Some estimates have him ending up with as many as 306 electoral votes. Clinton, the prohibitive favorite prior to election day, won only 20 states and the District of Columbia.

The states carried by the Republican ticket have a collective population of 181 million, compared to 140 million in states that favored Clinton. The disparity is even greater in terms of land area. Trump's states sprawl across 2.5 million square miles, while Clinton's states cover about a third of that land area, some 960,000 square miles in all.

Maryland, which heavily favored Clinton, ranked sixth among all states that went blue, with a density of 618.8 residents per square mile.

Dr. Manny: Trump can revolutionize health care

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 08:15 AM PST

Back in May, I declared my support of now President-elect Donald Trump as the right candidate to tackle America's drug epidemic.

Now, more than ever, I think that as we watch this revolution evolve, it will bring a lot of positive change to our health care system – not only by way of repealing ObamaCare, but in how we care for our communities for many years to come.

Here is a look back at what I said during Trump's run up to the White House earlier this year:

America is in the midst of a drug and mental health epidemic. The crisis before us has spiraled completely out of control under the Obama administration, and the numbers are staggering. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the rate of heroin-related overdose deaths nearly quadrupled between 2002 and 2013, with more than 8,200 deaths in 2013. While the headlines tend to focus on the rising levels of heroin addiction, this one drug is not acting alone. All around us opioids, prescription drugs and other illegally purchased drugs are claiming the lives of mothers, fathers, children, neighbors and teachers at alarming rates.

If we do not act quickly to get a handle on these issues, they will endanger our future generations to come. I know that the solutions will require input from physicians, pharmaceutical companies, health care workers, church leaders and the like, but we will need the voice of a true unifying leader to make any one policy work. I believe that voice is Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Before I am attacked for believing that Trump is the best-suited candidate to tackle this issue, let us first consider the facts.

Donald Trump On D.C.: ‘The Whole Place is One Big Lobbyist’

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:45 AM PST

President-elect Donald Trump says he wants to drain the swamp of Washington D.C., but he admits in a recent interview that he might have to rely on lobbyists to help his transition team.

During an interview with CBS correspondent Lesley Stahl, Trump admitted that he did have lobbyists on his team, but explained that it was the current state of the culture in Washington D.C.

"Everybody's a lobbyist down there," he said. "We're doing a lot of things to clean up the system. But everybody that works for government, they then leave government and they become a lobbyist, essentially. I mean, the whole place is one big lobbyist."

During Trump's presidential campaign, he promised to institute a five year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after leaving government service. He also promised to create a lifetime ban of White House officials lobbying for a foreign government.

Trump indicated he would need politically connected people to help him know the system, even if they were lobbyists.

Giuliani the favorite as Trump weighs secretary of state

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:30 AM PST

NEW YORK (AP) — Sequestered in his Manhattan high-rise, President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to fill key foreign policy posts. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has emerged as the favorite to serve as secretary of state, a senior Trump official said.

Although Giuliani has little foreign policy experience, the official said there was no real competition for the job as the nation's top diplomat. However, a second official cautioned that John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, remained in contention for the key post. Both officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the process by name.

The New York billionaire also was considering tapping Richard Grenell as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a move that would bring some experience and diversity to his nascent administration. Grenell, who served as U.S. spokesman at the U.N. under President George W. Bush, would be the first openly gay person to fill a Cabinet-level foreign policy post.

Le Pen: Trump's Win 'Victory of the People Against the Elites'

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:15 AM PST

Asserting that a "global revolution" is underway, Marine Le Pen has said Donald Trump's victory at the polls marks the rejection of "unfettered globalisation", in an interview with the BBC.

Speaking on the Andrew Marr show, Le Pen said the outcome of the US election paves the way for other countries to reject the dictates of a distant and complacent elite.

"Clearly Trump's victory is an additional stone in the building of a new world destined to replace the old one", the Front National leader said, linking the Republican's win at the polls to Brexit, and France's rejection of the EU Constitution in a referendum held in 2005.

"All these elections are essentially referendums against the unfettered globalisation that has been imposed upon […] people and which today has clearly shown its limits."

Lax Election Enforcement Must Go

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:00 AM PST

It looks like Hillary Clinton will finish with slightly more popular votes than President-elect Donald Trump, who won a clear majority of Electoral votes last Tuesday.

Predictably, Democrats are clamoring to abolish the Electoral College, which the Founders created as part of the separation of powers and a hedge against mob rule.

Big states with large cities dominated by Democrats are disadvantaged by the winner-take-all rules, the Dems argue. California, New York and Illinois went big for Mrs. Clinton, but were countered by Trump victories in dozens of smaller states and some big ones, too, such as Ohio, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania.

The main argument for abolishing the Electoral College is that people who voted for the loser in any of these states had no say and figuratively "wasted" their votes. Giving each vote equal weight regardless of where you vote would level the playing field, they say.

Well, maybe not. Consider an obvious implication:

If the election were decided strictly by popular vote, Democrats could ignore all the smaller states and run up the totals in the big, traditionally "progressive" states, plus any Democrat-dominated urban areas. Chicago alone could dig up enough votes in its cemeteries to counter not only the pesky Republican downstate Illinois voters but could also help swing the national total into the D column.

In New York, Project Veritas Action undercover cameras caught Alan Schulkin, the commissioner of the city Board of Elections, at a teachers union party in October admitting that New York City has widespread voter fraud.

"Yeah, they should ask for your ID. I think there is a lot of voter fraud," Mr. Schulkin said.

Republicans call on Clinton, Obama to reel in Soros-linked ‘professional’ protesters

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:53 AM PST

After five days of anti-Trump protests and mayhem led by left-wing groups, including one linked to top Clinton donor George Soros, Republicans said Sunday that it's time for Democrats to call off the dogs.

Kellyanne Conway, Republican president-elect Donald Trump's campaign manager, urged President Obama, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders to use their influence to talk down those she described as "professional" agitators "masquerading as protesters."

"I think that the President of the United States, Secretary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, perhaps, others can come forward and ask for calm and ask for a peaceful transition and ask their supporters, which are masquerading as protesters now — many of them professional and paid by the way, I'm sure — ask them to give this man a chance so that this country can flourish," Ms. Conway said on Fox News Sunday.

The far-left ANSWER Coalition and Socialist Alternative rushed to organize protest marches in major U.S. cities within hours of Mr. Trump's presidential victory Tuesday, as did MoveOn.org, which has reportedly received funding from Mr. Soros, a billionaire.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Sunday that protesters recently spotted him and began banging on his car.

Questionable reports of Trump-fueled violence proliferate on social media

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:45 AM PST

As if the 2016 climate couldn't get any more divisive, false or questionable reports of violence linked to Donald Trump's victory have gained steady traction on social media since last week – complicating efforts to distinguish fact from fiction amid very real political unrest.

In one case, a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette claimed that two white men – one wearing a Trump hat – jumped out of a sedan, attacked her, and stole her hijab and her wallet. The unnamed woman also said the men knocked her to the ground and screamed racial slurs at her.

News of the attack quickly spread on social media, and soon some national media outlets including CNN began reporting it. The attack also was quickly condemned by the state branch of the American Civil Liberties Union.

"The ACLU of Louisiana is outraged at the news of a young Muslim woman being assaulted and robbed of her hijab in Lafayette yesterday morning," the organization said in a written statement. "The report that her attackers also shouted slurs and wore Donald Trump clothing is especially troubling in light of Mr. Trump's frequent use of anti-Muslim rhetoric on the campaign trail."

The problem is: the incident was fabricated..

Obama says Americans upset over Trump’s win need to face ‘new reality’

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:37 AM PST

President Obama said Monday that protesters upset about the election of Donald Trump need to accept the results, and he also advised the president-elect to reach out to his opponents to help to bring the nation together after a contentious election and resulting street protests against the Republican.

"The people have spoken. Donald Trump will be the next president," Mr. Obama said at a White House press conference. "Those who didn't vote for him have to recognize that's how democracy works, that's how the system operates."

Addressing the unrest in many cities across the U.S., Mr. Obama said, "It takes a while for people to reconcile themselves with that new reality. Hopefully it's a reminder that elections matter and voting counts."

He called Mr. Trump's election "one of the biggest political upsets in history."

Mr. Obama said that during his first meeting with Mr. Trump at the White House last week, he told the president-elect to make public efforts to heal the country.

"I emphasized to him that in this hotly contested election, gestures matter," Mr. Obama said. "How he reaches out to groups that may not have supported him … those are the kinds of things that can set a tone that will help move things forward."

REPORT: THREE MILLION VOTES IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CAST BY ILLEGAL ALIENS

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:30 AM PST

Three million votes in the U.S. presidential election were cast by illegal aliens, according to Greg Phillips of the VoteFraud.org organization.

If true, this would mean that Donald Trump still won the contest despite widespread vote fraud and almost certainly won the popular vote.

"We have verified more than three million votes cast by non-citizens," tweeted Phillips after reporting that the group had completed an analysis of a database of 180 million voter registrations.

Ex-NYPD Boss: Paid Agitators, Schoolteachers, Politicians Fueling Anti-Trump Rage

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:23 AM PST

Anti-Donald Trump protests across the country are being whipped up by professional agitators, teachers at schools where students are marching out of class and politicians who talk about "leading the fight," former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik told Newsmax TV.

"I think they could be agitated by the professionals," Kerik told host J.D. Hayworth on Monday's "America Talks Live." "They could also be agitated by the teachers. I just find it hard to believe that an entire school would be led out to go out into the street and protest. These are kids that can't even vote yet.

"These are professional agitators, and I think we should get away from the word 'protest.' These are rioters, these are people that are engaged in barbaric and lawless behavior.

The Lawyers Who Could Take Down Hillary Clinton’s Campaign

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:15 AM PST

In February, a federal judge took the highly unusual step of ruling that State Department officials and aides to Hillary Clinton should be questioned under oath about her use of a private email server, a controversy that has dogged the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee for more than a year.
In comments from the bench, a visibly frustrated Judge Emmet Sullivan complained about the fragmentary way that new revelations about Clinton's email use have come to light—largely through press reports and leaks and her shifting explanations for why she set up the server in her New York home rather than use an official ".gov" account when she was secretary of state.

"This is a constant drip… That's what we're having here, you know, and it needs to stop," Sullivan said. He ruled that Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group that had brought a lawsuit seeking answers about Clinton's email server, could question six officials and top Clinton aides about why the email system was set up in the first place and how it was used. Transcripts of those interviews must be made public.

This Is One Of The Reasons Why Salisbury News Is So Important

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:10 AM PST

Yesterday we published an article about a robbery occurred at the Center at Salisbury Mall. Don't you find it incredible that not one of the main stream media sources have run an article about such a serious matter?

Is Joe Albero the Anti Christ because we exposed the TRUTH? The information we published has been confirmed by multiple witnesses and sources.

As I have mentioned in the past, I've been confronted by community leaders for years now asking me to stop publishing such negative articles about Salisbury. I have butted heads with every Mayor since I started Salisbury News. Why, because we told the truth and we have exposed thousands of questionable and documented things going on that clearly wasn't pampered. We've not shown favoritism because we run Salisbury News for the benefit of the PUBLIC.

When the new local free newspaper came out they basically said they were going to run positive news and information on a local level. It would be against their grain to expose an armed robbery. However, what about WBOC, WMDT and the Daily Times?

When I watched WBOC this morning their main local stories were about the Bypass and the flea market parking lot 10 being surplussed. When it comes to the Bypass, it is what it is. As for the parking lot, they conveniently mentioned commercial and housing going in there. Do you not wonder if it will include Affordable Housing? Do you not think WBOC should've asked that question?

Nevertheless, there was NOTHING mentioned about the robbery at the Mall, yet it has been 100% confirmed. Your local media is not serving you as a community. It's no wonder, (seriously) why Salisbury News has hits in the tens of millions. We have soared to massive popularity because we are the only news source that is actually run based on our community first.

The only way we can fix situations like what recently happened at the Mall is to confront it head on. I have always said, "You cannot fix something you are not aware of". Just imagine if I was your Mayor or Council Member. While I may not be liked or appreciated by community leaders, at least situations like this would be addressed and solutions would be brought forth. Right now, well, it's covered up and guess what, Salisbury has no gangs, less crime and we have rainbow colored skies. Can you tell me of a current council member that is actually addressing crime and jobs?

I should add, I know MANY women who refuse to come to Salisbury at night. While some of you might take that lightly, it's a serious problem. THAT is Salisbury's reputation. So let's plant trees and pave Main Street Downtown because that will revitalize everything. Idiots!

A Viewer Writes: After 25 years, I finally cancelled my Daily Times subscription

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:00 AM PST

Joe,

After the incessant barrage of left-winged propaganda, I cancelled my subscription to the Daily 'Waste of' Times. Like watching my wife, angrily troll through liberal Facebook posts, it made me angry and depressed to read that crap each morning. The nail in the coffin was when they posted the rebuke of on Trump in a full page reprint/ regurgitation from USA today/Gannett, their extreme left-leaning manufacturer of liberal Kool-Aid.

When I called them to cancel, they asked why. Not a good time to ask that question, but I was direct: "I am sick and tire of companies like the Times telling me how to think. Furthermore, I'm surprised that, as a business, you continue to make a product that insults a large majority of your customers. Why would any smart businessman do that? Please pass that along to the editor. If I did that, I would be out of business"

So, it got me to thinking. Since liberals change policy by boycotting businesses – and entire states (NCAA and North Carolina) when they don't like something- why don't we start a movement to boycott the Times until they start reporting in a fair and balances way. Not 'right' – not 'left' -but fair. I don't want to see a Bill O'Reilly as much as I don't want to see a Rachel Maddow lean one way or the other. They both are too extreme. And when an opinion is expressed, label it as such. Don't hide it through a subliminal liberal narrative hidden within the story. How about simply reporting the story without any bias. I know that's hard, since all of your professors told you how to right that way. And how about NOT omitting stories to achieve your left leaning agenda. What a fresh and novel idea.

It is obvious that a majority of local citizens do not agree with your views, so please stop trying to convince us otherwise.

So, we the right-minded, deplorable people of the Eastern Shore hereby declare full and complete boycott of your newspaper until you admit your bias, apologize for it and commit to fair and balanced reporting. I really miss the paper, actually- my dog does more, as she wonders around at the end of my driveway looking for something to bring in and, since its woodstove season, I need something else to light the fire.

Thanks for listening.

A concerned citizen.

Poll: Only One in Seven Adults Insist Donald Trump’s Election was Illegitimate

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:45 AM PST

Just one in seven American adults strongly believe that Donald Trump's election is illegitimate, says a new Washington Post/ABC poll, which was released amid a growing campaign by progressives to de-legitimize the election of President-elect Donald Trump.

In contrast, 74 percent American adults recognize the election as a legitimate election.

That's three out of four Americans.

Of that 74 percent, 58 percent "strongly" support the legitimacy of the election, and 16 percent "somewhat" support the election. Five percent "somewhat" believe the election is illegitimate.

What's In It For Me?

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:36 AM PST

Last night the Salisbury City Council butted heads on the proposal to hire a new law firm to represent the City.

Jim Ireton and April Jackson voted against hiring the new firm while Muir Boda and Jack Heath voted for the new firm. However, the newly appointed council member Rudasil abstained because of a conflict of interest. Ultimately it died and Mark Tilghman will remain as council for the City, FOR NOW.

As I understand it, they only way it can be brought up again is if one of the council members who voted against hiring the new firm brings it up again, hmmmmmm!

Could it be that former Mayor Jim Ireton can use this power to say, what's in it for me? After all, it's no secret that Jim Ireton has never been a friend to Mark Tilghman. Time will tell.

Trump Victory Sparks Mental Health Crisis Among Dejected Dems

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:30 AM PST

Liberal voters psychologically disturbed by the election of Donald Trump are seeking out care from mental health professionals, while colleges across the country seek to help students facing similar mental health crises in the wake of Trump's surprise victory, according to interviews and reports.

Mental health professionals practicing in Washington, D.C. described an unprecedented increase in patients worried about the country's future as a result of Trump's victory over Democratic contender Hillary Clinton.

"This is very different," said David Sternberg, founder and director of D.C. Talk Therapy, a psychotherapy group that practices in the District's upscale Woodley Park neighborhood.

"This is pretty unprecedented," Sternberg said, explaining that patients are expressing feelings of "anger, frustration, anxiety, [and] sadness."

"A lot of current patients and clients have wanted to talk about the election," he said, adding that moods are "the reverse" of what many patients felt in 2008 after the election of Barack Obama.

‘Die Whites Die’: Anti-Trump Rioters Vandalize NOLA Monuments

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 05:15 AM PST

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – What started as a protest against President-Elect Donald Trump soon turned to violent riots where one of New Orleans' most famous monuments was covered in graffiti and glass windows were shattered out of a nearby bank.

Hundreds showed up to denounce the election of Trump–but despite media reports of a peaceful gathering, the crowd grew increasingly hostile and violent, according to Breitbart Texas sources on the ground.

Students holding signs reading "End white supremacy" originally gathered on the steps of the Lee Circle monument before the demonstrations turned destructive.

Lee Circle was fully covered in graffiti with phrases like "Black Power" and "Dismantle White Supremacy".

Later, an effigy of Trump was burned while glass windows at a nearby bank were shattered.

CBS Held Trump’s Call For Peace All Weekend Long — Now People Are Furious

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:50 AM PST

People are furious that CBS never published a clip of Donald Trump calling for an end to violence in his name.

The president-elect sat down for an interview with Lesley Stahl on "60 Minutes" Friday. Because the episode didn't air until Sunday, CBS released teased several short promotional videos of the interview.

Though the network teased a clip of Trump shifting his position on Obamacare, it did not release one of him demanding that his supporters not attack minorities.

"I am very surprised to hear that, " Trump said when Stahl told him some attacks on minorities have been committed. "I hate to hear it. I am so sorry to hear it, and I say stop it. And I say right to the camera, stop it."

Ari Fleischer: Stay True to 'Outsider Nature' When Making Appointments

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:45 AM PST

Donald Trump must "stay true to his outsider nature" when selecting his Cabinet and making other appointments, former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer advised to Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"He needs, and I say this as an establishment insider Republican, he needs to make sure that he is putting people into places of power who are really bona fide outsiders," he told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview.

Fleischer, 56, who served in the George W. Bush administration, now owns a sports communications firm.

"He has earned the right to change that town," the former press secretary said of Trump and Washington. "He has to be careful not to listen to those people who say, 'You've got to appoint this experienced person or that experienced person.'

Donald Trump’s secret ‘God vote’

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:30 AM PST

The Catholic priest sitting before me as we chatted near Krakow, Poland, in the 1970s was passionate. He was briefing me on the Polish people's courageous stand against the communists led by Polish hero Lech Walesa. "It was not just a political movement," he said, "It was spiritual. If you check the demands the labor unions were making of the government, they were not about wages and working conditions. They wanted religious holidays and other concessions for their Catholic Christian faith. The massive strikes secured them. There was a spiritual awakening driving the movement." To be sure, the faith component to the uprising was lost to the Western press.

This week's stunning electoral coup which made Donald Trump President-elect of the United States also was driven by a faith component. What started out as a devil's choice for evangelicals became a movement to save the faith in America. The awful electoral choice pitted lies and corruption on one side against vulgarity, bigotry and narcissism on the other. It put the devout in a bind of conscience like no other presidential race in memory … if ever.

Wave of FAKE ‘Hate Crimes’ Sweeps anti-Trump Social Media

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:15 AM PST

Fake reports of "hate crimes" committed by fans of President-elect Donald Trump are sweeping the nation. Meanwhile, real crimes continue to be committed by anti-Trump rioters in dozens of cities across America.

One fake "hate crime" involved a Muslim woman at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette who claimed that she had her hijab torn off by two white males. Lafayette police now report that she "admitted that she fabricated the story."

Other incidents are being reported as "crimes" that are not crimes at all. CNN published a list of "hate crimes" on Saturday that includes an incident where a group of middle school students chanted "Build the wall!" in a cafeteria.

That is not a "crime"; it is juvenile behavior by boorish 12- and 13-year-olds.

Another "crime" on CNN's list comes from a university where "somebody chalked the words 'Trump,' 'Build wall' and '[Expletive deleted] your safe space' in front of the library.

That's right: they used actual chalk.

Maryland high-school walkout protesting Trump began as school-authorized function

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:00 AM PST

A mass walkout at a Silver Spring, Md., high school on Monday to protest Donald Trump's presidential election victory began when a group of students decided to take to the streets rather than remain on campus for a school-sanctioned demonstration.

"More than 100 students from Montgomery Blair High School, in Silver Spring, walked out in a planned protest at about 10 a.m.," Washington, D.C. newsradio station WTOP reported on its website Monday. "Montgomery County school officials said Montgomery Blair High approved a plan allowing students to protest on the football field on school grounds."

"After an hour in the stadium, students decided to leave campus with the objective of receiving more media attention," reported Montgomery Blair's student-run newspaper Silver Chips.

"I just feel like if we're in the stadium no one's gonna see our protest. We gotta get out and show everyone what we're doing. I feel like the protest should stay peaceful," sophomore Ariana Brenig told the student paper, who reportedly was wearing a T-shirt reading "Rapists go to the big house not the White House."

Weekly Update: Judicial Watch Changed History

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 03:45 AM PST

Donald Trump's remarkable victory on Election Day is still sinking in. Judicial Watch supporters can take satisfaction that the American people resoundingly rejected Hillary Clinton corruption. Our work exposing her email had consequences. We did not do this work to prevent Hillary Clinton from winning the Oval Office; we did it to hold her, her aides, and her co-conspirators in the Obama administration accountable to the law.

The corrupted leadership of the FBI and Justice Department didn't want to do much with what we exposed. And certainly Congress, led by a weak Republican leadership, didn virtually nothing on the Clinton email issue. But, the American people didn't ignore our work, and denied Hillary Clinton the presidency as a result. One expert called Judicial Watch one of the great "disruptors" of our new media age:

Judicial Watch is a conservative gadfly, yes, but it is acting more like a newsroom staffed by lawyers – a scary thought, to the government at the very least. With an ample, donor-funded war chest, the nonprofit is taking journalists to school in deploying one of their most valued weapons, the Freedom of Information Act, doing so more effectively than any news organization in recent memory. Mainstream news organizations are happy to take its costly court-won revelations and run with them. So it's not surprising that its President, Tom Fitton, nominated Judicial Watch for three Pulitzer Prizes last year (It was disqualified because it was ruled to be an advocacy group, Fitton told the Pulitzer-laden New York Times).

James Madison spoke and it's still true
