Stacey Abrams starts new college op to combat 'voter suppression' Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:00 PM PST A statewide electoral defeat is rarely a springboard to national prominence, but failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is writing her own playbook. Ms. Abrams is now at the helm of two nonprofit organizations as well as her PAC, a hybrid that has raised millions of dollars from labor unions, Hollywood and left-wing Democrat activists, records show. She recently sent out a fundraising blast for the latest arm of her growing network of political organizations, Fair Fight U, the college version of her Fair Fight PAC. Her mission: combating potential voter suppression. Under the Fair Fight umbrella, Ms. Abrams says she advocates for "election reform by engaging in voter education and advocacy activities to secure the voting rights of all citizens, along with working to advance broad progressive change in the state and country." Just how Ms. Abrams will accomplish her goals remains something of a mystery. Neither Fair Fight nor Fair Fight U responded to questions about their activity. Her Fair Fight PAC, a hybrid outfit with a dark money component, has raised more than $4 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. California liberals such as actresses Alyssa Milano and Rhea Perlman, along with major left-wing donors there like Steve Silberstein, a member of George Soros' Democracy Alliance, and Karla Jurvetson also have contributed. Patrice Comey, wife of former FBI Director James B. Comey, gave Ms. Abrams' PAC $10,000. More [One might wonder how much she is paying herself to run these 3 organizations. --Editor]
U.S. Navy officer, wife charged with attempting to smuggle military equipment to China Posted: 04 Nov 2019 05:30 PM PST A U.S. Navy officer with a top secret security clearance and his wife were among four charged Friday with attempting to smuggle U.S. military equipment to China. Federal prosecutors in Florida filed a host of charges against Lt. Fan Yang, 34, a Chinese-born U.S. citizen, who is assigned to the Maritime Patrol Reconnaissance Weapons School Jacksonville. Mr. Yang's wife Yang "Yuki" Yang, and two Chinese businessmen Ge Songtao and Zheng Yan were also indicted. Prosecutors say all four schemed to purchase military-style inflatable boats from a California-based navy contractor and export the equipment to China while concealing the actual buyer. More

Pregnant Florida woman uses AR-15 to fend off burglars attacking her family Posted: 04 Nov 2019 04:30 PM PST A Florida woman who was eight-months pregnant and came out wielding an AR-15 rifle reportedly saved her husband and pre-teen daughter last week from a pair of violent intruders who'd broken into the family's home — with the gun-toting matriarch fatally striking one of the men, who was later found dead in a nearby ditch. Jeremy King was at his home in Lithia, 25 miles southeast of Tampa, at 9 p.m. Wednesday night when two armed men, wearing masks and hoods, broke inside. "As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter," King told Bay News 9. "I'm telling them, 'I have nothing for you,' and they're like, 'Give me everything you got.' It became real violent, real fast." Gaffe-Prone Biden Briefly Claims He’s In Ohio During Iowa Stop Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:00 PM PST Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) experienced another gaffe during a stop in Iowa over the weekend, briefly claiming that he was in Ohio while campaigning in the Hawkeye State. Biden, who has remained gaffe-prone throughout his presidential bid, misspoke yet again during a campaign stop at Abby Finkenauer's Fish Fry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday, briefly claiming that he was in Ohio before correcting himself. Foreign Aid Makes Corrupt Countries More Corrupt Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:30 PM PST Any time a government hands out money, not just foreign aid, it breeds corruption... And there are few better examples than Ukraine - just don't tell the House impeachment hearings. Counting on foreign aid to reduce corruption is like expecting whiskey to cure alcoholism. After closed House of Representatives impeachment hearings heard testimony on President Trump's role in delaying U.S. aid to Ukraine, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer declared: "Numbers don't lie. It's even more clear now that President Trump is not the anti-corruption crusader he claims to be."Most of the press coverage has tacitly assumed that American assistance is vital to fighting corruption in Ukraine. But that ignores foreign aid's toxic record and Ukraine's post-Soviet history. A 2002 American Economic Review analysis concluded that "increases in [foreign] aid are associated with contemporaneous increases in corruption," and that "corruption is positively correlated with aid received from the United States." That was the year President George W. Bush launched a new foreign aid program, the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA). Bush declared, "I think it makes no sense to give aid, money, to countries that are corrupt." But the Bush administration continued delivering billions of dollars in handouts to many of the world's most corrupt regimes. By 2004, the State Department had codified what amounted to backtracking: "The MCA is an incentive-based supplement to other U.S. aid programs." The Bush team found excuses to give MCA aid to some of the world's most corrupt governments as well, including Georgia. More
Brennan's Spy? New Theories Emerge About Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:00 PM PST As Democrats seek to impeach President Trump over the "high crime" of asking Ukraine to investigate his political opponents, theories have emerged suggesting the whole thing is a 'six ways from Sunday' operation by Intelligence Community holdovers and Establishment Democrats to remove a sitting President who started flying too close to the sun. After Trump asked his Ukrainian counterpart on July 25 to investigate pro-Clinton Ukrainian meddling in the 2016 US election, and allegations of corruption against Joe Biden and his son Hunter, a CIA officer who worked with the 'DNC meddler' and Joe Biden filed a second-hand whistleblower complaint on a recently altered form (which previously allowed only first-hand information). First, let's take a deeper look at the whistleblower, reported by investigative reporter Paul Sperry to be Eric Ciaramella (EC) (via RedState's Elizabeth Vaughn, emphasis ours): More
Trump: ‘I Think Nancy Pelosi Has Lost Her Mind’ Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:30 AM PST After returning from New York City, Sunday, on the South Lawn of the White House, President Donald Trump said he believed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had "lost her mind." Trump said, "I think Nancy Pelosi has lost her mind." He continued, "I think, frankly, that she should go home to San Francisco. If you look at what is happening to her district, her district is going to hell. With homeless that they're not taking care of, with needles all over the streets, with tents, with people, with sanitation, with horrible things being washed into the ocean, into the Pacific Ocean." Feds Bust Mexican Cartel’s Methamphetamine Running Cell in Kansas Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:30 AM PST A yearlong investigation by U.S. authorities in Kansas led to the arrest of a methamphetamine distribution cell tied to Mexico's Los Viagras faction of the Familia Michoacana Cartel. The cartel cell is considered to be part of the violent cartel's drug distribution operation which also has cells in Washington State and Georgia. Court documents filed at the federal court in Wichita Kansas revealed that for more than a year, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Kansas City Police targeted 57-year-old Luis Martinez Carrango and 13 of his associates tied to the widespread distribution of methamphetamine throughout the Midwest. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, during a recent raid targeting the cartel cell, agents seized 220 pounds of methamphetamine in the Kansas City Metro Area. While not revealed in court documents, Breitbart Texas consulted with U.S. and Mexican law enforcement sources to confirm that Luis Martinez's cell is part of Los Viagras from Michoacán. Law enforcement sources identified him as the criminal organization's main point of distribution in the area and a close associate of Cesar "El Boto or Marrueco" Sepulveda Arellano, one of the top leaders of Los Viagras in Michoacán. Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:00 AM PST A cold blast is expected to descend on the East Coast by the end of this week, bringing unusually early fall snow to the Ohio Valley, upstate New York and Vermont. Unseasonably low temperatures were recorded across the northern Plains and Midwest over the weekend as a dip in the jet stream continues to send in cold air. A series of weak storm systems moving across heartland is expected to push the wintry weather east toward the Atlantic, creating the possibility of snow in northeastern states by Friday. 'A couple of disturbances tracking farther south around the end of the first week of November can bring the potential for some snowflakes all the way to the mid-Atlantic coast,' AccuWeather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said. “Over 1,000” commit lives to Christ at Kanye West’s Sunday Service Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:45 AM PST Thousands of people gathered for Kanye West's "Sunday Service" in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after a last-minute announcement Friday. Curvine Brewington, a pastor at Crossroads Church in Lafayette, Louisiana, attended the event and shared his experience on Instagram, saying there was an "altar call" and "over 1,000" people gave their lives to Christ: "..In a crowd of 6,000 people from all walks of life, all ages, and all races, I witnessed over 1,000 people respond to The Gospel.." The lonely battle of the last Republican lawmaker from Northern Virginia Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:30 AM PST Tim Hugo, the last Republican legislator in the Virginia suburbs closest to Washington, calls himself "Delegate Pothole." He tweets about neighborhood detours, car break-ins and lane closings. "Be sure to find an alternative route!" he wrote ahead of repair work at one intersection. Ask him what impact President Donald Trump's unpopularity in Virginia is having on next week's pivotal state election, and Hugo says, "I focus on the local issues." Ask whether Democrats are succeeding in nationalizing the last election before the 2020 presidential contest, and Hugo says, "I focus on the local issues." Six questions, six times Hugo repeats the mantra, all the while hurrying out of a candidates forum to avoid a clot of reporters. On the way to the parking lot, a man from Centreville approaches and thanks Hugo for helping to get his local bike trail paved. The delegate stops, appreciates the voter, and announces to any and all, "See, it's all about local politics." But on the suburban streets of House District 40 that wind through Fairfax and Prince William counties - one of the last pockets of Northern Virginia to transition from largely white, affluent and conservative to a Democrat-leaning mix of immigrants and tech and government workers - Hugo's recipe for winning a ninth term in Richmond may be short on some ingredients. House Democrats Were Always Going To Impeach President Trump Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:15 AM PST In a strictly partisan vote on Thursday, Democrats approved a resolution in favor of the ongoing anti-Trump investigation masquerading as an impeachment inquiry. Not a single Republican voted for the measure, and two Democrats joined GOP lawmakers in voting against it. Many Democrats used the occasion to declare how seriously they take their constitutional duty to hold President Trump accountable. Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said, "This is a solemn day in the history of our country." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the impeachment inquiry was a "sad" and "prayerful" process. Ahead of the vote, she declared the resolution was "about the truth, and what is at stake in all of this is nothing less than our democracy." Listening to this mawkish stuff, you'd think the Democrats, against their better instincts and in sorrowful duty to their sacred oaths, have finally been pushed to act for the sake of the republic. "Nobody comes to Congress to impeach a president of the United State," said Pelosi. "No one." More
Trump threatens to cut US funding for California wildfires Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:00 AM PST On Twitter, the president criticized California's governor for his management skills while praising the firefighters. President Donald Trump threatened Sunday to cut off California from federal funding to aid in dealing with wildfires that have burned across the state during dry winds this fall. Trump tweeted Sunday that California Gov. Gavin Newsom has done a "terrible job of forest management." He tweeted that when fires rage, the governor comes to the federal government for help. "No more," the president tweeted. Newsom responded to the President with a tweet saying, "You don't believe in climate change so you are excused from this conversation." More

Exposing The Bogus "97% Consensus" Claim Over Climate Change 'Science' Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:00 AM PST One of the popular rhetorical moves in the climate change debate is for advocates of aggressive government intervention to claim that "97% of scientists" agree with their position, and so therefore any critics must be unscientific "deniers." Now these claims have been dubious from the start; people like David Friedman have demonstrated that the "97% consensus" assertion became a talking point only through a biased procedure that mischaracterized how journal articles were rated, and thereby inflating the estimate. But beyond that, a review in The New Republic of a book critical of mainstream economics uses the exact same degree of consensus in order to cast aspersions on the science of economics. In other words, when it comes to the nearly unanimous rejection of rent control or tariffs among professional economists, at least some progressive leftists conclude that there must be group-think involved. The one consistent thread in both cases - that of the climate scientists and that of the economists - is that The New Republic takes the side that will expand the scope of government power, a central tenet since its birth by Herbert Croly a century ago. Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:56 AM PST Tomorrow Salisbury residents have the chance, (once gain) to make the change in leadership that isn't a part of the Good Ol' Boy system by voting for Wayne King. My viewers will recall when I ran for Mayor of Salisbury and my opponent did absolutely nothing to campaign. He called a month before the election stating he knew I had the election won. Then they claimed it was a spoof phone call and some how, some way if you voted for me, he got the vote. Even the press flat out admitted there was no way he had won that election. It is what it is but this time they are caught with their pants down because Wayne doesn't have a Blog that has millions of hits and they think Jake can win this election without any funny business. That being said, YOU need to get out and vote. YOU need to know that I will be there for Wayne in any capacity he needs because I will have his back. Yes, Wayne is a bit brash but you have to understand that he's new to politics, unlike everyone else you've voted in who have political backgrounds and it can be very frustrating. The most important thing you need to know about Wayne is the fact that he is very passionate about what is best for ALL taxpayers and visitors of Salisbury. If you look at Jake's campaign financial statement you'll see financial backing from Peter Franchot and his right hand man Linwood Foxwell. The guy has raised some $50,000.00 in a town that only has 32,000 citizens. THAT'S CRAZY! To top it off he spent $26,000.00 of that $50,000.00 already. Look at those two names again and remember the letters that were sent out against County Executive Bob Culver for their underhanded liquor license for the Folk Festival. Culver was 100% spot on, these people abused their power and the Good Ol' Boys once again got something you and I could never get without going through the proper channels. So THINK hard about what tomorrow will bring. If you vote for Jake Day there's a very good chance he will leave Salisbury and run for Lt. Governor in the upcoming Governor election. Know that they are grooming Carl Anderton to run for Wicomico County Executive in that next election, just as they did Jack Heath. If you want to see Salisbury and Wicomico County all screwed up and your taxes go through the roof, sit at home and simply watch their plan come together. If you are sick and tired of all this political swamp crap, get off your rear ends tomorrow and place your vote for Wayne King. Remember, nothing is going to be rigged because Jake thinks he has this thing in the bag. Ireton knew I had it won, they had no choice and all of you were screwed. Make a difference and cast your vote for Wayne King.
Top Dem struggles to explain why Clinton impeachment bad, Trump impeachment good Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:30 AM PST Rep. Eliot Engel, the Democratic chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, forcefully opposed the impeachment proceedings against former President Bill Clinton as futile -- but in an interview Sunday, he struggled to explain why the current inquiry against President Trump presents a meaningfully different situation. Appearing on ABC News' "This Week," Engel, D-N.Y., who leads one of the four panels probing Trump, looked on stone-faced as anchor George Stephanopoulos showed Engel a clip of his 1998 argument against impeachment. "No one believes that the president will ultimately be removed from office, so we will have dragged this country through a six-month trial in the Senate, and Bill Clinton will still remain president," Engel said in the clip. "What good does that do?" "Aren't we facing a similar situation right now?" Stephanopoulos asked. More here
White House says VA funded at highest amount in history Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:00 AM PST WASHINGTON — In a proclamation sent out for the third time while in office, President Donald Trump has declared all of November as a time to honor those who've served in the U.S. military, and their families. Veterans events are typically scheduled throughout the month of November at VA hospitals, benefits offices and cemeteries across the country. In 2018 the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reported more than 300 events in the month of November, but this push by the White House for the third consecutive year aims to extend traditional Veterans Day celebrations. Just last year, on top of the local and regional celebrations across the United States -included in the more than 300 events that the VA reported- the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs also held national events. These events have included the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, alongside an event where leaders eat together at the National Press Club. The White House also typically holds their own veterans events. The VA campaigned to promote their brands in 2018 and the first week of November has been named "Legal Services Week" for the VA, where the department provides free legal services to veterans in need. County School System Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:45 AM PST SNOW HILL – A wrongful death lawsuit filed against the Worcester County Board of Education following the 2016 death of a Cedar Chapel Special School student has been settled. School system officials confirmed Thursday that the wrongful death lawsuit filed against the school system and a former Cedar Chapel staff member by the parents of a student who died in 2016 had been settled. "MABE (Maryland Association of Boards of Education), our insurance carrier, has been handling this case and we have been made aware that a settlement was made," said Carrie Sterrs, the school system's coordinator of public relations and special programs. In January, lawyers for Pocomoke residents Patricia and Richard Richardson filed a wrongful death suit in Worcester County Circuit Court against former Cedar Chapel employee Richard Blessing, the Worcester County Board of Education and Cedar Chapel Special School. "Ending mass incarceration means challenging a system that jails the poor to free the rich. Arresting people who can't afford a $2.75 fare makes no one safer and destabilizes our community," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. A spokesman for Fire Drill Fridays, Ira Arlook, says Fonda was the only one who spent the night in jail, her first as part of the ongoing demonstration. More

Newly-Released Mueller Documents Reveal Manafort Pushed Theory Ukraine Hacked DNC Server Posted: 04 Nov 2019 05:00 AM PST Hundreds of pages of documents relating to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe were made public on Saturday after BuzzFeed News and CNN filed lawsuits to obtain the information. An Obama-appointed judge ruled the Department of Justice needed to release the documents. The documents reveal that Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, wanted to push the narrative that Ukraine, not Russia, was behind the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) hacked email server. The narrative was revealed in a note about Mueller's interview with the campaign's former deputy director, Rick Gates. Although a federal grand jury indicted 12 Russia intelligence officials for allegedly hacking the DNC, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and Hillary Clinton's campaign servers, Manafort believed Ukraine was behind the hackings. The Trump campaign, however, wanted to capitalize on what the emails revealed and even discussed how to get ahold of the material themselves, Fox News reported. More
Hogan 'offended and disgusted' by county's ban on 'Thin Blue Line' flag Posted: 04 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Sunday blasted Montgomery County's decision to ban the display of a homemade wooden "Thin Blue Line" flag, saying he was "offended and disgusted." "I'm offended and disgusted that County Executive Marc Elrich has prohibited Montgomery County Police officers from displaying a 'thin blue line' American flag that was made for them by a father & his young son in honor of National First Responders Day," said Mr. Hogan in a statement. The governor weighed in after Mr. Elrich banned a police station from displaying the gift, also known as the Blue Lives Matter flag, calling it "divisive." "The flag provides a symbol of support to some but it is a symbol of dismissiveness to others," said Mr. Elrich in a Friday statement. "Because it is divisive, the flag will not be posted at the 5th District nor in any public space within the Police Department." His ban reversed a decision by the Montgomery County Department of Police, which tweeted Wednesday a photo of woodworker James Shelton and his young son presenting the flag to officers at the Fifth District Station in Germantown. While the Blue Lives Matter flags are seen as a show of support for law enforcement, several jurisdictions have removed them after coming under criticism from leftists who view them as symbols of white supremacy and racism. "Black Lives Matter members have referred to the flag as a terrorist symbol, a new version of the Confederate flag and repackaged Nazi propaganda," said Dawn Perlmutter, director of the Symbol Intelligence Group, in a July 15 article in Law Enforcement Today.
