'Y'all were running from us': Michelle Obama claims 'white folks' are 'afraid' of living in black neighborhoods

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Michelle Obama spoke out against "white flight" in a recent interview, saying she experienced it as a kid and that it remains a problem.

"As families like ours — upstanding families like ours who were doing everything we were supposed to do and better. As we moved in, white folks moved out because they were afraid of what our families represented," the former first lady said Tuesday at the Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago.

"I want to remind white folks that y'all were running from us ... This family, with all the values that you read about, you were running from us. And you're still running because we're no different than the immigrant families that are moving in," she continued. "The families that are coming from other places to try to do better. But, because we can so easily wash over who we really were — because of the color of our skin, because of the texture of our hair — that's what divides countries, artificial things."

No Headlights In The Rain Today, Continued...

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Today I made a trip to Fenwick and back. During our trip to and from we literally counted 132 vehicles with no headlights on in the rain. I was a passenger in the vehicle, so no, I didn't have anything better to do. Nevertheless, again, it amazes me that it is the law and so many refuse to turn their lights on and not one vehicle had been pulled over. I'll add, in some of the areas we were traveling in was a mandatory headlight use to boot. We saw plenty of Police along the way. Go figure.

He’s on a one-man quest to take down Confederate monuments in Maryland

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

EASTON, Md. — He smoothed his suit and gripped his leather portfolio, inside it a carefully written broadside in which he planned to accuse the people who run this county of supporting "the idea of white supremacy." Henry Herr gulped. He twisted his wedding ring around his finger. And he got ready to walk inside the county government building.

Right there on the courthouse lawn, he passed the statue. "To the Talbot Boys," read the capital letters on its huge stone base. "1861-1865. C.S.A."

Confederate States of America, that means. Right here in Maryland, though the state never seceded from the United States. Right here in front of the courthouse, the first and most prominent sight that greets anyone arriving to seek justice and law in Talbot County.

Wallace Presses Pence — Why Didn’t the President Notify Pelosi

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

On Sunday's broadcast of "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace pressed Vice President Mike Pence on why President Donald Trump did not notify House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in advance about the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Wallace said, "The president was asked specifically whether he had informed the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi about this raid last night, and he said no and then he added I wanted to make sure that no American forces were lost. The implication seeming to be that he was worried that Pelosi or members of Congress would leak this. Does the president not trust the Speaker of the House with sensitive national security information?"

Pence said, "I don't think that was the implication at all. I think from the time that we got actionable intelligence, the president's total focus here was on a successful mission and the safety of American troops."

Wallace pressed, "Why didn't he tell Nancy Pelosi?"

A Viewer Writes.......Census Survey

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Joe, has any of your readers been receiving in the mail this packet from a group called " American Community Survey" ? It has a total of 28 pages and 44 questions. It has gone way above what our Constitution has said about taking an accurate head count to what I consider offensive and some very highly personal questions. It appears to me that this survey is just what we were warned about was coming. What this survey is about is "Data Mining" and it is an Agenda 21 technique used to find out everything about you and how you live. Please have your readers comment on this and express their opinions.

‘What Did The F**king Deer Do To You?’: Man, Kid Harass Deer Hunter

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

A Long Island man and kid confronted a would-be deer hunter scoping out the territory, resulting in a heated discussion about the ethics of hunting animals.

The deer hunter, identified by The New York Post as 30-year-old Brooklyn resident Dominick Lobifaro, recorded a video of the confrontation.

"Hey, the kids wanna know — why you wanna kill deer?" the man asked Lobifaro, who was sitting in his vehicle.

"Cuz I eat them," said Lobifaro.

"What did the f****** deer do to you?" ask the boy, becoming emotional.

Susan Rice Huffs: Trump Didn’t Extend ‘Common Courtesy’ of Telling Obama About Al-Baghdadi Mission

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Appearing Sunday on CBS's Face the Nation, former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice said she was "quite confident" that the Trump administration did not follow the "normal protocol" of informing President Barack Obama about the weekend killing of Islamic State (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

A partial transcript is as follows:

MARGARET BRENNAN: What is your reaction to the death of al-Baghdadi?

SUSAN RICE: Obviously, it's a major milestone and it's one we all should be welcoming quite plainly, but it doesn't mean that the fight against ISIS is over. And it doesn't mean that we can declare mission accomplished and just walk away. What we've seen time and time again in this part of the world is that when the pressure is relieved on terrorist organizations, whether al-Qaeda or ISIS, they are able to reconstitute. So we need to be vigilant. We need to maintain a minimal presence in order to ensure that the pressure stays on ISIS and they don't come back roaring.

Kamala Harris Blames Her Campaign Problems On The Fact That She’s A Woman Of Color

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Kamala Harris is floundering in the polls.

Her 2020 campaign has pretty much stalled out, and she thinks she knows why.

According to her, it's all about racism and sexism. That's what she claimed in a recent interview.

From Axios:

Kamala Harris says running for president as a woman of color in the 2020 election is different than running as a black man or as a white woman and that the question of electability has emerged as "the elephant in the room about my campaign."

Top Obama Military Officer Bashes President Trump For “Piling on” Humiliation of Baghdadi and ISIS

The United States military conducted a special operations raid targeting one of its most high-value targets, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Newsweek reported late Saturday night.

Army Delta Force and Army Rangers led the way and closed in on Baghdadi's lair in an overnight firefight and the ISIS leader died "crying, whimpering and screaming."

President Trump made a statement and took questions on Sunday morning.

President Trump: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead… He died after running into a dead end tunnel whimpering and crying all the way… He had dragged three of his young children with him. They faced certain death.

Major Boardwalk Replacement Project Looming In Ocean City

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:01 AM PST

OCEAN CITY — One of the significant projects discussed during this week's strategic planning session was the re-decking of the Boardwalk, but unlike some of the other issues discussed, there was no question if it should be done, but how soon.

For the last few years, resort officials have known a major re-decking of the Boardwalk was looming and it has been a steady fixture on the town's capital improvement plan. It now appears that bill is coming due with the wear-and-tear on one of town's most important assets starting to show. The wooden sections of the Boardwalk were last replaced in 2010 and 2011 and the life expectancy at the time was eight to 10 years.

The issue was not if the Boardwalk re-decking should be undertaken, but how soon to do it and how best to fund it were the subjects of debate during strategic planning sessions this week. Funding was a recurring theme throughout the two-day cram sessions and the Boardwalk project was no different.

"The critical issue for that is going to be funding," he said. "We need to have that money in place by next fall. It will have to be a two-phase project."

Maryland speaker urges governor to settle HBCUs lawsuit

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Maryland's House Speaker is urging the state's governor to settle a lawsuit involving four historically black colleges for $577 million.

House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones sent a letter this week to Gov. Larry Hogan, exhorting him to end what she described as "a stain on the national reputation of Maryland's higher education system." She urged him to accept an amount recommended by an attorney representing the state's four HBCUs to settle the 13-year-old lawsuit over disparities in programs.

Jones said any settlement money would be used to develop new programming, hire faculty and expand the reach of state scholarships.

BREAKING: Katie Hill, California congresswoman, resigns amid allegations of affairs with staff

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Representative Katie Hill of California announced Sunday she is resigning from Congress amid allegations of sexual relationships with a member of her congressional staff and a campaign staffer. "This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I believe it is the best thing for my constituents, my community and our country," she said in a statement she posted to Twitter.
Rep. Katie Hill✔@RepKatieHill
It is with a broken heart that today I announce my resignation from Congress. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I believe it is the best thing for my constituents, my community, and our country.

Hill admitted the relationship with the campaign staffer, writing to her constituents earlier this week, "I know that even a consensual relationship with a subordinate is inappropriate, but I still allowed it to happen despite my better judgment." She said the relationship had occurred during the last years of what she said was an "abusive" marriage.

Pelosi: 'It's Not an Impeachment Resolution'

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

As we noted yesterday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's real impeachment gambit is to keep President Donald Trump under a cloud of investigation while putting Senate Republicans on the spot in 2020 for defending him. Thursday's scheduled vote on the now-released resolution on impeachment is all about controlling the narrative — which Pelosi inadvertently admitted by telling a reporter, "It's not an impeachment resolution."

House Majority Steny Hoyer said the same thing: "This is not an impeachment resolution. I don't know what an impeachment resolution is."

If "it's not an impeachment resolution," what is it?

Well, it's an effort to "address" Republican complaints about an opaque process by setting certain public rules about hearings. But it's also literally a "keep doing what you're doing" directive to Democrats:

King Speaks to the People, And the People Answer

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

An Email Mr. King received:

Mr. King,
While I do not live in Salisbury and reside in Delaware, I do manage a business in Salisbury. I wanted to thank you for bringing up in your debate about the Salisbury Police. We call about shoplifting in Salisbury, but when we do call we feel like we as a business are the bad guys for calling. Too often we are given the third degree and treated like we were the ones committing a crime by calling. And when we do get a response it feels like a shoulder shrug. Most of the time we don't even bother to call anymore because it's more a hassle than anything. You can see you understand the residents and businesses of Salisbury completely. Please keep up the good work and I personally support your mayoral run, and will convey that message.

Thanks for your support. Hopefully, help is on the way. Let's get out the vote!

Hang in there,
Wayne

Jeffrey Epstein's autopsy more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicide, Dr. Michael Baden reveals

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:01 AM PST

The body of disgraced money man and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his Manhattan federal prison cell in August, bore telltale signs of homicide despite an official ruling that he killed himself, a pioneering forensic pathologist revealed to "Fox & Friends" in an exclusive interview Wednesday.

The bombshell claim by Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner who has worked on high-profile cases during a five-decade medical career, is certain to reignite suspicions that surfaced immediately after Epstein, who was awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges involving underage girls, was discovered dead in his cell on Aug. 10. Baden, who was hired by Epstein's brother and observed the autopsy, told Fox News its findings are more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicidal hanging. He noted that the 66-year-old Epstein had two fractures on the left and right sides of his larynx, specifically the thyroid cartilage or Adam's apple, as well as one fracture on the left hyoid bone above the Adam's apple, Baden told Fox News.

"Those three fractures are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation," Baden, who is also a Fox News contributor, said.

Models banned 'indefinitely' from all MLB stadiums after flashing breasts on live TV during World Series

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

Two women have been barred from entering Major League Baseball stadiums after a publicity stunt in which they exposed their breasts on live television during Game 5 of the World Series.

Models Julia Rose, founder of the digital magazine Shagmag, and Lauren Summer were sitting behind home plate during the Sunday night game when they lifted up their shirts while Houston Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole was about to deliver a pitch. Cole delayed his windup, and the batter called for a brief time out, but it's unclear if his hesitancy was related to the women's exposure.

The women's yellow shirts bore the name of the magazine, and the pair explained that they flashed the nation for breast cancer awareness in a video posted to social media.
