What Happens to the Democratic Party After Obama?

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:00 PM PST

The outgoing president narrowed the party's appeal in ways that helped the GOP. Democrats may need to widen it again if they hope to recover power.

In his bittersweet farewell address this week, President Obama made a passionate case for both his policy agenda and his civic vision of a nation strengthened by diversity. But his words won't settle the Democrats' difficult debate about his political legacy.

Through two terms, Obama deepened the Democrats' connection with a constellation of growing groups, namely minorities, the millennial generation, and college-educated whites, especially women. That coalition allowed him to join the ranks of Andrew Jackson and Franklin Roosevelt, the only Democrats to win a presidential popular-vote majority at least twice.

But Obama also narrowed the Democrats' appeal, both demographically and geographically, in ways that helped Republicans seize unified control of the White House and Congress and establish their biggest advantage in state governments since the 1920s.

Both these positive and negative trends for the Democratic Party predate Obama's first campaign, and the latter trends were accentuated by Hillary Clinton's unique weaknesses in 2016. But Obama intensified these dynamics with a distinctive strategy that bound Democrats to the political priorities of their heavily urbanized new coalition, especially on cultural issues from gay rights to immigration reform. That came at the price of further alienating the GOP's competing coalition of older, blue-collar, and religiously devout whites, who live largely outside of urban areas. And it was those voters who mobilized to narrowly elect Trump and preserve Republican control of Congress.

Media Irate After NYC's Largest Police Union Awards Sheriff Clarke

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 07:30 PM PST

Liberals seemed flabbergasted after learning that the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA), the largest law enforcement union in New York City, has named Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke as their person of the year.
The NY Daily News begins its hit piece by leveling several charges at Clarke:

"HE'S SLAMMED GUN CONTROL SUPPORTERS AS 'FREEDOM-LOATHING GUN-HATERS.'"

Considering the Second Amendment was enacted to grant the American people aninalienable right to bear firearms, and that some Progressives and Liberals are trying to abolish the Bill of Rights, it stands to reason that Clarke is correct.
You cannot be a freedom-lover if you are trying to take away the freedoms of others.

"HE'S LABELED ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER AN 'A—–E.'

No problem with that so far. Holder was the disgraced Attorney General who called the United States a nation of cowards, and was held in contempt of Congress.

Think The Aftermath Of The Election Was Bad? Wait Until Inauguration Day

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 07:00 PM PST

After Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton and was elected the next president of the United States, all hell broke loose in America. Stars took to the airwaves to weep and rend their hair. Schools actually shut down and offered counseling. Protests blocked roadways. Some of the protests devolved into riots, and organizations funded by George Soros added fuel to those fires.

Violence and hatred spread like a pandemic virus.

Then, things settled down, although the defeated liberals were still unhappy. Cities went back to normal, and anti-Trump vitriol returned mainly to its verbal form, (with a few horrifying exceptions, discussed below.)
But maybe they were just saving their energy for the inauguration on the 20th.

People have been talking about making Inauguration Day the biggest protest in the history of the United States, but plans seem to be escalating. (Go here to get a free guide that will help you to prepare for unrest if it comes your way. You'll also get updates on the fluid situation. )

Some people are planning joking about a real life Purge, modeled after the movies of the same name. In the movies, for a 12 hour period every year, all bets are off. All laws are suspended. All emergency services are canceled. People are completely free to do whatever they want, including to seek retribution and vengeance from anyone who has wronged them. Lots of folks lock down and try to hang in until morning, while others go out for a gleeful night of murder, vandalism, and mayhem.

Piper McGowan of The Daily Sheeple found a motherlode of unsettling tweets from liberals who seem ready to go out on Inauguration and do their own version of a Purge. She wrote:

Kellyanne Conways Discusses The "Trump Effect" On Economy

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:00 PM PST

Earlier this morning, Kellyanne Conway appeared on Bloomberg to discuss Trump's economic policies regarding everything from job creation to tax cuts, energy investment, infrastructure spending, Obamacare and China. Of course, she started by taking the opportunity to boast about the "Trump Effect" that has already resulted in manufacturing jobs coming back to the United States and record high-er stock prices.

"First of all, you already see the Trump effect. You see that manufacturing jobs are already coming back to the U.S., or staying here. Plans to build factories in Mexico, to ship jobs over the border there, take them away from hardworking Americans have stopped. That's the Trump effect."

"You see that the stock market loves that fact that he was elected. We've had record highs over a number of days."

After the brief commercial introduction, Conway addressed Trump's plans to "roll back corrosive regulations" that have suffocated job creation, lower taxes across the board and work with companies to develop America's energy resources "in a responsible and profitable way for all of us."

"His job creation plan includes a number of things. First of all, it's just rolling back some of these corrosive regulations. We hear from business owners and aspiring business owners daily that it's the regulatory framework that is suffocating them."

"In addition, he has a very ambitious, very doable tax relief plan. He will create 25 million jobs over 10 years and he will reduce taxes across the board. Middle class tax relief. Those who don't pay taxes will have relief as well."

"Also in there is energy investment. This is something that we just haven't had in the past 8 years. We've been pretty hostile as a nation toward energy investment. You know what is made in America, our energy sources. It's under our feet and it's off our shores. And it's time we have Presidential leadership that will help develop it in a responsible and profitable way for all of us."

Conway also took aim at the Pharma industry saying "to repeal and replace Obamacare without having a conversation about drug pricing seems like not a reasonable prospect."

Mexicans Returning Home and Staying There Ahead of Trump

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 05:30 PM PST

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — Fearing stiffer immigration enforcement in the coming months, approximately half of the Mexican nationals who had traveled through this city on their way to their hometowns claim they will not be returning to the United States, city officials said.

In recent weeks, the Matamoros city government has been preparing logistical and security measures to accommodate not only the returning travelers, but also for a possible increase in deportations, said Matamoros Mayor Jesus "Chuchin" De La Garza.

According to De La Garza, at least 50 percent of the Paisanos who have crossed through the three international bridges in Matamoros have reported to authorities that they will not be returning to the U.S. and plan on seeking jobs in Mexico.

Known in Mexico as Paisanos, every year, groups of legal and illegal immigrants travel through this and other border cities during the holidays on their way to their hometowns. The name Paisano comes from a government program aimed at easing the customs and tax process that the Mexicans face when they travel home. In years past, customs officers, local police and other officials were known for demanding bribes and extorting the travelers.

"Fake News" Facebook Lands On List Of "America's Most Hated Companies"

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 05:00 PM PST

Facebook just can't seem to catch a break lately. From questionable privacy policies and mass data collection of its users to its handling of the so-called "Fake News" epidemic (see "George Soros Is Funding Facebook's "Third-Party Fact Checking" Organization Targeting 'Fake News'"), Mark Zuckerberg is pissing off a lot of people these days. Unfortunately, when your entire business model is based on "friending" others, the alienation of various groups has caused enough people to "dislike" Facebook that the company has landed itself on 24/7 Wall Street's list of "America's Most Hated Companies."

Coming in at #6, Facebook narrowly beat out Spirit Airlines, which, for anyone who has been left stranded by Spirit in Chicago's O'Hare Airport in the middle of winter, that speaks volumes.

Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA)
Bank of America (NYSE: BAC)
Mylan (NASDAQ: MYL)
McDonald's (NYSE: MCD)
Wells Fargo Bank (NYSE: WFC)
Facebook (NASDAQ: FB)
Spirit (NASDAQ: SAVE)
DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH)
Sears (NASDAQ: SHLD)
Sprint (NYSE: S)
Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT)

"I first came to Chicago when I was in my early 20s, still trying to figure out who I was," President Obama told the nation on Tuesday. After eight years of his presidency, many others are still trying to figure out who, exactly, this guy is.

His farewell address offered few clues but his own books and those of his narrator confirm that the president is not exactly who he claims to be, the son of the Kenyan Barack H. Obama. As the senatorial candidate told the Democratic Party convention in 2004:

"My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya. He grew up herding goats, went to school in a tin-roof shack. His father, my grandfather, was a cook, a domestic servant to the British."

That's a great story, as Michael Corleone said in The Godfather, and the old-line establishment media liked the story so much they accepted it uncritically. As Barry Rubin noted in Silent Revolution, the president's early life remained largely unexplored. Any serious effort would have turned up more than a few problems.

In his writings from 1958 to 1964, including more than 20 letters, the Kenyan Barack H. Obama makes no mention of an American wife and Hawaiian-born American son. In 2013 and 2016, on his last Father's Day in office, the president was invited to review this material but never did so. The reason is not difficult to understand. The president knows that his father is somebody else.

Why Are Wal-Mart, Boeing, & Lowe's Laying Off Workers If The U.S. Economy Is In Such Great Shape?

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 04:00 PM PST

The stock market has been on quite a roll in recent weeks, but signs of trouble continue to plague the real economy. Earlier this week, I talked about the "retail apocalypse" that is sweeping America. Major retail chains such as Sears and Macy's are closing stores and laying off workers, but I didn't think that Wal-Mart would be feeling the pain as well. Unfortunately, that is precisely what is happening. USA Today is reporting that approximately 1,000 jobs will be cut at Wal-Mart's corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas by the end of this month…

Walmart's plan to lay off of hundreds of employees is the latest ripple in a wave of job cuts and store closures that are roiling the retail industry.

The world's largest retailer is cutting roughly 1,000 jobs at its corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., later this month, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to speak about it.

The company is saying that these cuts are necessary because Wal-Mart is always "looking for ways to operate more efficiently and effectively". But something doesn't smell right here. You don't get rid of 1,000 employees at your corporate headquarters if everything is just fine.

I have driven past Wal-Mart's headquarters in Bentonville a number of times, and it is in a beautiful part of the country. Bentonville and the surrounding areas had been booming, but it looks like times may be changing.

And today Lowe's...

Lowe's is changing its store staffing model and will lay off "less than 1%" of its employees soon.

Lowe's has over 285,000 workers.

Protesters planning to blockade inauguration checkpoints, 'party' outside Pence home

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 03:30 PM PST

An anti-Donald Trump group is planning massive disruptions for next week's inauguration covering everything from "blockades" at security checkpoints to a "dance party" outside VP-elect Mike Pence's house, according to group leaders as well as newly obtained audio of their apparent plans.

The organization #DisruptJ20 already announced at a press conference Thursday its various plans to wreak havoc at Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration and in the days leading up to it.

A conservative group also shared with FoxNews.com what it said was audio from a Jan. 8 #DisruptJ20 meeting at a Washington church, giving even greater insight into the group's planned D.C. "shutdown."

The audio, recorded by Trevor Loudon with Capital Research Center, purports to show a female member detailing plans to "do everything we can to try and stop people from being able to access the inauguration."

This begins with what was described as a "pure dance party at Mike Pence's house" on Jan. 18.

"It's his last few days living in Chevy Chase before he moves into the vice presidential residence, and we're going to send him off with a bang," the woman says in the audio.

Then she says the group is turning its attention toward the pro-Trump "DeploraBall" the following day, which she describes as the "alt-right neo-Nazi ... party to celebrate Trump."

"We're gonna crash it," she says.

Chicago Thugs Targeting Amazon Delivery Drivers: "Take What You Want, Just Let Me Go"

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 03:00 PM PST

Chicago's rash of violence, which resulted in over 800 homicides in 2016, a 20-year record high, has seemly focused its sites on a new type of victim, Amazon delivery drivers. Accorded to a CBS affiliate, just last night another armed robbery occurred in Chicago's violent South Side neighborhood as two masked gunmen held up a driver and stole several packages. According to CBS this was only 1 of at least 12 similar incidents over the past month.

"They walked up on me, they had ski masks and told me, 'You know what it is.' I put my hands up and told them take what they want, just let me go," says the driver, who asked to remain anonymous.

The men took bags filled with packages, then drove eastbound on 84th in a black minivan.

"As long as I have my life, I don't care too much about nothing else," he says. "I pretty much have to go home to a wife and two kids."

UPS is reportedly also experiencing similar robberies. The delivery company said their drivers are trained to be aware of their circumstances and to contact police if they have concerns about their surroundings.

Amazon plots huge fulfillment center in Cecil County, 700 new jobs expected

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 02:48 PM PST

Amazon.com Inc. is expected to announce next week a new 1.15-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Cecil County, according to several sources familiar with the deal, a project that will create 700 jobs over the next three years.

The distribution center will be the online retail giant's second in the state, where it employs several thousand workers at a warehouse off Interstate 95 in Southeast Baltimore.

In Cecil, Amazon will occupy the Principio Commerce Center I, a huge industrial building being developed in North East by Trammel Crow Co. and Diamond Realty Investments Co., the real investment arm of Mitsubishi Corp. The project is expected to deliver in the spring, according to marketing material.

A resolution currently in front of the Cecil County Council labels the tenant as "Project Iron LLC." The resolution shows the state Department of Commerce has agreed to loan Project Iron up to $1.2 million from the Maryland Economic Development Assistance and Authority Fund. As required by the MEDAAF statute, Cecil County must match 10 percent of the loan, in this case $120,000.

The resolution was introduced to the Cecil council on Jan. 3 and is up for final approval at its meeting Tuesday evening.

A $90 million investment is being made in the project, the resolution shows. Project Iron expects to hire 700 permanent full‐time employees at the site by the end of 2020.

Maryland High School Receives Threat from KKK, Then Finds Out a Black Student Sent It

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 02:30 PM PST

At Arundel High School near Annapolis, Maryland, a threat was issued this week by the Ku Klux Klan. It was sent from a Twitter account, @KoolkidsKlanKkk, and it said, "We're planning to attack tomorrow." When police were called in to investigate, they learned the account was created by a 14-year-old black student at the school.

The girl was arrested and interviewed by police with her parents present and admitted to creating the fake account and sending the threatening message. She was charged with a juvenile citation for disrupting school activities, according to WJZ News, and released to her parents.

Just a week before this incident occurred, a racist petition was circulated at the same high school that used similar language, like "Kool Kids Klan." Two students were found responsible for the petition, and two students signed it. However, police filed no criminal charges because no laws were broken. In this report, the races and ages of the kids weren't included.

Then, there was another similar incident at nearby Annapolis High School in the form of another Twitter account: @kkkforreal. That message said, "blowing up Annapolis High school tomorrow." It added, "black [expletive] better run." Though officials were cautious, they doubted the credibility because of the fake threat at the other school. Other than concerned parents, little more was reported on this incident.

If You Think "Fake News" Is A New Phenomena, You're Wrong

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 02:00 PM PST

The "fog of war" erupts in the confusion caused by the chaos of war. And in the media, it's an intentional phenomenon that makes it difficult to separate fact from fiction.

While the battles over war narratives evolve, they all have a common goal: to distort reality on the ground.

On Oct. 10, 1990, a 15-year-old Kuwaiti girl identified only as "Nayirah" told the Congressional Human Rights Caucus that she witnessed Iraqi soldiers removing babies from incubators and leaving them on a cold floor to die.

Her testimony was cited numerous times by senators and even President George H.W. Bush as justification for backing Kuwait in the Gulf War against Saddam Hussein, which erupted just three months later.

However, it was later revealed that "Nayirah" was the daughter of Kuwait's ambassador to the United States, and her testimony was arranged by a PR firm representing a Kuwaiti-sponsored group lobbying Congress for military intervention.

More recently, during the "Arab Spring" uprisings that swept the Middle East in 2011, Libyan media claimed that Moammar Gadhafi loyalists carried out mass "Viagra-fueled rapes," and that the Libyan leader had ordered rape as a weapon of war. When Luis Moreno-Ocampo, a prosecutor with the International Criminal Court, opened an investigation into these allegations, it grabbed international headlines, appearing in Al-Jazeera, the BBC, and Reuters, among many others.

Even as Amnesty International questioned the legitimacy of the allegations, other supposedly humanitarian groups hit a loggerhead on the veracity of the claims. One top U.N. official said he believed the claims were meant as a scare tactic to invoke "massive hysteria" even as another top U.N. official defended them, creating a distraction from the war itself.

Facebook Is Already Flirting With Censorship

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 01:00 PM PST

Censorship is almost always a touchy subject, but it's also par for the course in certain parts of the world. Just as Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) is now coming to gripsOpens a New Window. with its own power and responsibility over what information people see, it seems that the company is starting to flirt a little bit with censorship.

In Thailand, a local law prohibits any public criticism of Thailand's royal family. But one prominent journalist has discovered that his posts, along with posts from other users, regarding the royal transition following King Bhumibol Adulyadej's death in October are apparently being blocked within Thailand, according to TechCrunchOpens a New Window.. The posts in question are available outside of Thailand, but unavailable within the country, suggesting that Facebook is censoring content based on the geographical location of users. The blocking seems to be in response to a government request. Facebook discloses government requestsOpens a New Window. that it receives around the world, and notes that it restricted 10 pieces of content between January 2016 and June 2016 in Thailand.

In the grand scheme of things, Thailand is a pretty small country with a population of nearly 70 million people. Facebook's apparent willingness to compromise on censorship has much greater implications for another Asian country.

New Assateague App Would Help People ID Wild Horses

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 12:30 PM PST

BERLIN – Have you ever been at Assateague Island and wanted to know more about the wild horse grazing beside your campsite? Or been eager to catch a glimpse of your favorite equine on your annual Assateague vacation?

Well you're not the only one. Assateague Island Alliance's Ashlie Kozlowski says she's bombarded by requests for more information on the national seashore's wild horses. In an effort to provide visitors with that information, Assateague Island Alliance (AIA) will be launching a free smartphone app that will help visitors identify the wild horses they see.

"Because everybody is so connected to their phones this seemed like a great way to connect with visitors and get information out about the horses," Kozlowski said.

With the new app, all users will need to do is take a photo of the horse they're looking at to get a detailed description of the animal. In some cases, if the photo alone isn't enough to determine the animal's identity, the app will ask the user a couple of other simple questions — does the horse's mane fall on the left or right, for example — that will help prove the horse's identity.

FBI Investigated Over Pre-Election Decisions on Clinton Email

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 12:00 PM PST

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday said it would probe a Federal Bureau of Investigation decision to announce an inquiry into Hillary Clinton's emails shortly before the November presidential election, a move she has blamed as a factor in her defeat.

The Justice Department's Office of Inspector General said in a statement that its investigation would focus in part on decisions leading up to public statements by FBI Director James Comeyregarding the Clinton investigation and whether they may have been based on "improper considerations."

The controversy involved Clinton's use of a private email server for official correspondence when she was secretary of state under President Barack Obama, including for messages that were later determined to contain classified information.

The office of Inspector General Michael Horowitz said it decided to open the review "in response to requests from numerous chairmen and ranking members of congressional oversight committees, various organizations and members of the public."

Beach Trash Can Art Proposed In Ocean City

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 11:30 AM PST

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City officials discussed a proposal this week to implement painted trashcans on the town's beaches.

In a Coastal Resources Legislative Committee (Green Team) meeting Wednesday, Councilman Tony DeLuca introduced the concept of artistic trashcans.

The idea, he said, is to beatify the beaches with decorative and scenic containers that will ultimately incentivize visitors to keep the beaches clean.

"I think it has application, and I wanted to bring it to the Green Team for a next step," he said.

The inspiration for DeLuca's proposal comes from Bobby and Nikki Freeman, Florida Realtors who began the non-profit program "Creative Cans in the Sand."

Lowe's to Cut Thousands of Store Workers, Shuffle Jobs

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 11:00 AM PST

Lowe's Cos. is cutting thousands of workers and shuffling the jobs of thousands more, according to people familiar with the matter, as the home-improvement retailer tries to adapt to shifting shopping habits.

The company plans to eliminate less than 1% of its workforce, or fewer than 3,000 jobs, said a person familiar with the matter. But it also will shift many workers' "back-of-house responsibilities and activities to customer-facing ones," the person familiar said, aiming to redeploy them to help answer shoppers' questions about products or home-improvement projects.

The move comes after the Mooresville, N.C.-based hardware retailer in November cut its profit outlook for the year, citing weaker-than-expected store traffic.

"We've got to make sure that as the consumer is changing the ways they engage with us, we continue to be nimble," said Lowe's Chief Executive Robert Niblock in an interview at the time. Lowe's employs around 285,000 people.

OC Council thinks Christmas tourism

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 10:30 AM PST

Ocean City officials, via the Recreation and Parks Commission, will be discussing how to expand the Light Up OC campaign throughout the resort and how to find the funding for it.

During the Jan. 3 council session, Downtown Association President Kevin Gibbs outlined his vision to improve the Christmas experience by increasing the decorations and special events.

In the past, the inlet parking lot had a miniature version of Winterfest of Lights with drive-by displays on the beach but that was eliminated years ago because of budget cuts and a greater concentration on the much larger Northside Park event.

In 2012, the Downtown Association and Ocean City Development Corporation resurrected the decorations push through the "Donate to Decorate" program to pay for light displays. Now, Gibbs told the council, the community is seeking to do more through the Light Up OC initiative.

"We finally got some lights downtown, but it's not enough," he said. "We need to expand Winterfest and need to expand Christmas in Ocean City, and we need to get up to par. Christmas is big business, and this would also serve the locals and the community."

Ex-NBC producer found dead with drugs, $27K in cash

A former NBC producer was found dead in a drug-filled Manhattan apartment — and two men he had been hanging out with were arrested after they called 911, police said Thursday.

Thomas Felty, 36, died Jan. 4 at the Upper East Side apartment where George Lopez, 50, and Patrick Walsh, 33, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Walsh and Lopez met up with Felty earlier that day and the three went back to Lopez's apartment, police said. Walsh and Lopez fell asleep and then awoke to find that Felty wasn't breathing.

Lopez called 911 and cops who responded at about 5 a.m. found a trove of drugs that included three large gallon size zip lock bags and six half gallon sized zip lock bags containing methamphetamine inside a black bag on top of a cardboard box.

They also found two large zip lock bags containing cocaine, 100 orange ecstasy pills, 34 Molly pills, 16 additional "cat shaped" ecstasy pills, 56 unidentified additional pills and $26,985.00 in cash in a laundry basket.

(CNSNews.com) - The federal government collected $740,771,000,000 in taxes in the first three months of fiscal 2017 (October through December), according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released today.

But at the same time, it spent $949,130,000,000—thus running a deficit of $208,359,000,000.

The $75,731,000,000 in corporation income taxes paid by businesses in the United States in the first three months of the fiscal year was 8.6 times the $8,812,000,000 paid in customs duties on foreign imports.

The overall $740,771,000,000 in tax revenues that the Treasury collected during the October-through-December period also did not set a record for federal tax revenues in the first three months of the fiscal year.

Trump raises millions to cover inauguration's steep costs

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:30 AM PST

The inauguration of a new president requires the recitation of a 35-word oath. That's it. Dress it up with some hoopla and glitz, though, and pretty soon you're talking real money.

Donald Trump will have it to spend.

Trump's Presidential Inaugural Committee has raised a record $90 million-plus in private donations, far more than President Barack Obama's two inaugural committees. They collected $55 million in 2009 and $43 million in 2013, and had some left over on the first go-round.

But while Trump has raised more money for his inauguration than any president in history, he's aiming to do less with it. Lead inaugural planner Tom Barrack said this week the Trump team wants to avoid a "circus-like atmosphere" in favor of a more "back to work" mindset that surrounds Trump "with the soft sensuality of the place."

FAKE NEWS MEDIA DOUBLES DOWN ON ANTI-TRUMP PEEGATE PROPAGANDA

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:23 AM PST

Anti-Trump legacy media has entered its swan dive

The dying mainstream media and leftist intelligence have gone all-in against Donald Trump and the public by doubling down on the false narrative that Trump conducted himself in a lewd manner while visiting Russia.
The Independent is leading the latest assault, running a headline today that reads, "Donald Trump Russia claims: CIA agents 'say there may be more than one tape of sexual nature.'"
ind
As with the thoroughly debunked Buzzfeed and CNN hit pieces, The Independent cites "unverified allegations" as the basis for their disinformation.
"The CIA believes Russia may hold more than one recording of a sexual nature involving Donald Trump, it has been reported."

Obama Lectures White People On His Way OUT- Needs Them To Know One Thing

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:07 AM PST

I am so sick and tired of being lectured by people, especially celebrities and politicians who are genuinely out of touch with the rest of the world. If I have to sit through one more sanctimonious speech from the President, any President, I'm going to rip my hair out.

Let's hope Donald Trump keeps to his style of speech, and doesn't adopt Obama's Kindergarten-teacher-explaining-right-and-wrong tone.

I cannot be the only person who groans and screams "C'mon, just shut up and LEAVE already!" every time Obama's face appears on my screen.

Right?

During his farewell address on Tuesday, Obama spewed a ridiculous amount of pure, unadulterated manure. I don't know how anyone got through the whole thing, I mean, can you imagine being in the audience? You could have gone out for a five-course meal in the amount of time it took him to praise himself and castigate white Americans.

In a speech that I imagine came with a finger wag and a stern glare, Obama felt the need to bring up Jim Crow, and remind whites to go easy on minorities when they voice discontent. (Never mind that whole, "pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon" and rioting thing.)

"For white Americans, it means acknowledging that the effects of slavery and Jim Crow didn't suddenly vanish in the '60s; that when minority groups voice discontent, they're not just engaging in reverse racism or practicing political correctness; that when they wage peaceful protest, they're not demanding special treatment, but the equal treatment our Founders promised."

CNN’s Acosta Begs For Truce After Spicer Sends Last WARNING About Disrespecting Trump!

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:00 AM PST

When someone is giving a press conference, they say their piece and then (generally) accept questions. Journalists clamor for attention and finally one of them gets called on. The rest fall silent and record the question and response to report on later. This cycle continues until the person is done answering questions and leaves.

This is how it's always been done, except on Tuesday when CNN's Jim Acosta went out of his way to cause a ruckus in an attempt to get President-elect Donald Trump's attention. Trump had called on another reporter, who Acosta rudely spoke over.

It would appear that he has lost his bark AND his bite since then, calling a truce after the incoming Press Secretary Sean Spicer made it clear that he could get the boot for pulling another stunt like that.

Thanks to the Clintons, It’s Perfectly Legal for Jared Kushner to be Senior White House Advisor

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 08:45 AM PST

Liberals can thank a Kennedy-hating law pushed by LBJ for the limits on presidential powers to hire familial relations. Liberals can also thank the Clintons for making White House staff exempt from that law.

The basic upshot of the law, passed in 1967 under the direction of LBJ, was this: if a Kennedy retakes the White House, they can employ all their family in the White House, but not outside the White House in any agency of the executive branch. In other words, you can have the White House, but not the Justice Department too. Who affirmed this standard? The D.C. Circuit in 1993. On whose behalf? The Clintons.

On January 25, 1993, President Clinton established the President's Task Force on National Health Care Reform. The President appointed his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, as the chairman of the Task Force. The Task Force directly advised the President, held public hearings, and met in private with cabinet staff to formulate a health care plan — Hillarycare.

Hillary, shock shock, wanted to keep the records of the Task Force secret. A variety of doctor groups sued to disclose them. In its defense in the case, the Clinton administration insisted the Task Force was exempt from publicly disclosing its records because all of its members–including Mrs. Clinton–were "government officers and employees" engaged in certain acts of privacy-protected policy. The doctor groups opposed that designation of Hillary as an "employee" on grounds the Kennedy-hating LBJ statute of 1967 statutorily barred her from appointment as an officer, colloquially known as the Anti-Nepotism Act. See 5 U.S.C. § 3110.

The D.C. Circuit ultimately concluded open government laws did not apply to Hillary's actions for the Task Force. It only could conclude that by holding that Hillary was an officer or employee of the White House. It could only hold that by concluding the anti-nepotism law did not forbid such an appointment. (AAPS v. Clinton, 997 F.2d 898 (D.C. Cir. 1993)).

Attorney: DC Sniper Life Sentence Unconstitutional

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 08:30 AM PST

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — An attorney for a man convicted of taking part in sniper shootings that left 10 people dead in the Washington area is asking a judge to toss his life sentence because he was convicted as a juvenile.

In a motion filed Friday in a Maryland county court, public defender James Johnston argues that Lee Boyd Malvo's mandatory life sentence is illegal because the U.S. Supreme Court determined such sentences are unconstitutional for juveniles.

Malvo was convicted in Maryland and Virginia when he was 17 for his role in the 2002 sniper shootings that killed 10 people and wounded three in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He also later admitted to shootings in other states. He's serving a life term at the Red Onion State Prison in southwest Virginia.

Grant Money Helps District 37 Households Pay Energy Bills

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 08:15 AM PST

State's energy assistance grants available to help low-income families stay safe this winter

Maryland's Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP), administered by the Department of Human Resources (DHR), oversees a crucial grant program that offers the average eligible household more than $1,000 per year to assist them in paying their heating and electric bills. Annually, more than 100,000 households across the state enroll in the program. Under Governor Larry Hogan's leadership, and in partnership with elected officials and energy companies throughout Maryland, OHEP helps families replenish heating fuel in their home, keep their lights on, stay warm, and chip away at past-due electric bill arrearages. In many cases, an OHEP energy grant makes the difference for a family struggling to stay safe and warm.

This winter, households across Maryland will face unthinkable choices between heating their homes, paying for medical care, and meeting their basic living expenses. Many will forego heat and electricity on the coldest winter nights, opting to just "put on another sweater" in order to withstand their bills. Fortunately, Governor Hogan, the Maryland General Assembly, and DHR have stepped up to heed the call for help.

"This energy program offers direct, meaningful relief from high energy costs and protects families from heating crises," said Gregory James, Acting Secretary of the Department of Human Resources. "Energy emergencies erode health, finances, and safety, but these grants can protect our most vulnerable Marylanders from a winter without heat or electricity."

Eligibility is based on household income, and households can qualify regardless of participation in other State benefits programs. Residents can apply for benefits on an annual basis, with each grant year starting July 1 and concluding on June 30 of the following year. Households may apply at any time, and reapply once per year as needed. Applicants do not need to be behind on their bills in order to apply for help.

Interested residents should submit a completed paper application and the required supporting documents to their local energy office. To apply for assistance or get further information, customers can contact their nearest energy office by visiting dhr.maryland.gov/OHEPlocal, or by calling DHR's helpline at (800) 332-6347. Households can also apply online atdhr.maryland.gov/benefits.

DHR—the Maryland Department of Human Resources—is the state's primary social service provider, serving more than one million people annually. Through its 24 local departments of social services, DHR aggressively pursues opportunities to assist people in economic need, provide preventive services, and protect vulnerable children and adults in each of Maryland's 23 counties and Baltimore City. Additional information may be found at www.dhr.maryland.gov or on Facebook and Twitter.

Rosie O’Donnell Tells Cops To Turn On Trump, Then Mark Wahlberg Sends BETTER Message!

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 08:00 AM PST

Two different celebrities made bold statements this week regarding their country and law/military enforcement. But the messages could not have been more different. We have Rosie O'Donnell and Mark Wahlberg. One is an avid liberal and anti-Trump fanatic. The other recently starred in a movie about the role of law enforcement in the Boston Marathon bomb. And they take different sides of the spectrum here.

Rosie took t Twitter ranting about the inauguration with things like this…

Posting in all caps — because we know how much internet users like to be "yelled at" in all caps — O'Donnell tweeted, "I FULLY SUPPORT IMPOSING MARTIAL LAW – DELAYING THE INAUGURATION – UNTIL TRUMP IS 'CLEARED' OF ALL CHARGES."

In case you are wondering what martial law is, it is "the imposition of the highest-ranking military officer as the military governor or as the head of the government, thus removing all power from the previous executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government."

In other words she is encouraging the military to OVERTHROW the government….. brilliant.

Also, she didn't seem so worried about Hillary CLinton being "cleared of all charges…." just saying.

"HEY EVERYBODY – DONALD TRUMP LIES CONSTANTLY – @washingtonpost @PrincessBravato DO NOT SWEAR HIM IN – STOP THE INAUGURATION #reallypeople."

Come on, hun.

Ocean City May Drop Free Inlet Parking Time From 30 To 20 Minutes

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 07:30 AM PST

OCEAN CITY — Resort transportation officials this week approved a number of recommendations to tweak the paid parking systems including an adjustment of the time frame at the Inlet lot.

Following up on an earlier discussion from December, the Transportation Committee on Tuesday resumed discussions on how best to adjust the paid parking systems at the Inlet lot, side streets and other municipal lots in Ocean City. The debate included discussions on how best to upgrade or replace existing payment methods at the Inlet and other locations throughout Ocean City.

Because of the timing, in most cases the current payment systems will remain in place for the 2017 season, but there will likely be some tweaks based on recommendations from the committee to the Mayor and Council. For example, currently the first 30 minutes for parking at the Inlet lot are free and a graduated payment schedule kicks in after.

However, after considerable debate on Tuesday, the committee recommended adjusting the time frame to make the first 20 minutes free and the payment schedule beginning in the 21st minute. The thinking is 20 minutes is sufficient for a driver to go into the lot for a brief visit and anything beyond that would initiate the paid parking.

Marco Rubio's attack against Rex Tillerson

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 07:15 AM PST

Marco Rubio's line of questioning carried the whiff of political vendetta

Sen. Marco Rubio took to the Senate floor on Wednesday to grandstand against President-elect Donald Trump's choice for secretary of State, former Exxon Mobile CEO Rex Tillerson.

It was a petulant, childish affair.

Mr. Rubio questioned Mr. Tillerson's integrity, his moral fiber, and lectured him on his measured, yet completely forthright, responses.

"In order to have moral clarity, we need clarity. We can't achieve moral clarity with rhetorical ambiguity," Mr. Rubioscolded, as if he has any experience making international deals, or bending heads of state, where rhetorical ambiguity can be used to one's advantage.

Would it really be wise for Mr. Tillerson — before he even takes his spot as the world's top diplomat — to call Russian President Vladimir Putin a "war criminal"? That's a term even the Obama administration has refused to use.

In addition, it's clear that Mr. Trump believes Russia can help the U.S. eradicate the Islamic State. Why would Mr. Tillerson look to insult a person he's going to have to try to negotiate with?

Church Invites Muslim To Read Quran At Their Service- Then She De-Defies Christ

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 07:00 AM PST

No matter how violent and murderous radical Islamic terrorism gets, liberals like to remind everyone that a 'vast majority' ofMuslims are unbigoted folk who are more than capable of getting along with their Christian neighbors, than the other way around.

A Muslim was allegedly invited into St. Mary's, a Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland, and given the chance to recite from the Quran during the service, Breitbart reported.

The Muslim girl who chanted from the Quran chose a verse that that completely put Christ in the backseat, making him less than the Muslim 'Allah'.

"It befitteth not the Majesty of Allah that He should take unto Himself a son," The girl read that line from the Surah 19, verse 35.

She then read a line from verse 36, a verse that portray the Christ child proclaiming to all "And lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. That is the right path."

Free Speech Advocates, Publishers Wrestle With Questions Of Censorship

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:53 AM PST

Free speech advocates see President-elect Trumps's testy relationship with the media and his middle-of-the-night tweets reacting to critics as evidence that he is — at best — insensitive to the First Amendment. And they say one recent controversy, the decision by Simon & Schuster to publish a book by social media provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, has grown out of an atmosphere that encourages hate speech.

Now, PEN America — an organization dedicated to defending the right to free speech all over the world — is starting to pay more attention to what's happening on the home front. PEN is co-sponsoring a protest which will bring a host of well-known writers to the steps of the New York Public Library to protest threats to free expression.

"We need to be, as citizens, ready to come out," says PEN America executive director Suzanne Nossel, "stand together for basic rights that six months ago we might have been able to take for granted, but that we no longer can."

Nossel sees these threats coming from several directions: The President-elect's attacks on the press and his critics, the proliferation of fake news and the pattern of trolling on social media.

"People feel more free to speak their mind," she says, "even if it crosses what would have been considered boundaries of hatred or racism or misogyny, and so I think it then becomes incumbent on others to speak more loudly."

What One Family Sacrificed To Help Black People Vote In 1966

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:45 AM PST

Vernon Dahmer was a civil rights leader in the mid-1960s, when Mississippians were still required to pay a poll tax in order to register to vote. In January 1966, the successful farmer and businessman publicly offered to pay that tax for black people who couldn't afford it.

That night his house was firebombed by the Ku Klux Klan. His wife and three of his children were at home.

"We didn't think anybody would bother the children, but we were
wrong, they intended to get all of us January the 10th, 1966," Vernon's widow, Ellie Dahmer, told their daughter Bettie during a recent visit to StoryCorps.

"That night, when I waked up, the house was on fire, and it was so bright and so hot. You was screaming to the top of your voice, 'Lord have mercy. We're going to get burned up in this house alive.' I raised the windows up, and then your father was handing you out the window to me."

Marijuana DOES cause schizophrenia and triggers heart attacks, experts say

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:37 AM PST

Marijuana does raise the risk of getting schizophrenia and triggers heart attacks, according to the most significant study on the drug's effects to date.

A federal advisory panel admitted cannabis can almost certainly ease chronic pain, and might help some people sleep.

But it dismisses most of the drug's other supposedly 'medical benefits' as unproven.

Crucially, the researchers concluded there is not enough research to say whether marijuana effectively treats epilepsy - one of the most widely-recognized reasons for cannabis prescriptions.

The report also casts doubt on using cannabis to treat cancers, irritable bowel syndrome, or certain symptoms of Parkinson's disease, or helping people beat addictions.

Rep: Sessions Attacks Are Part Of Democrats' 'War On Whites'

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:23 AM PST

Republican Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks claimed during a Tuesday radio interview that Democrats who strongly criticize attorney general nominee and Republican Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions are motivated to do so by their party's "war on whites" agenda.

As first reported by CNN Wednesday, Brooks told a local Alabama radio host that Democrats are trying to paint Sessions as a racist because it aligns with their political goals.

"Well, if you get right down to it, it's all about political power, and the Democrats are not shy about lying in order to achieve their political goals. And if they have to besmirch the reputation of a good man, Jeff Sessions, in order to achieve their political goals, they as a group are not hesitant to do so," he stated on the show.

Brooks went on to defend Sen. Sessions' voting rights record and argued Democrats are misrepresenting the nominee's stances as a political "tool" to scare their voters.

Rush rips CNN for ‘coordinated’ attack on Trump

Tapper 'wants to be known as one of the most highly respected journalists'

(WASHINGTON TIMES) Radio host Rush Limbaugh excoriated CNN's Jake Tapper and BuzzFeed on Wednesday for a "coordinated" attack on President-elect Donald Trump.

Reporting Tuesday night on "State of the Union" that Russia may possess compromising information on Mr. Trump — followed shortly thereafter by the release of an unverified intelligence dossier by BuzzFeed — was no coincidence to the man behind the "golden EIB microphone." Mr. Limbaugh told listeners on Wednesday that CNN's Jake Tapper knew what would happen, but acted anyway because "the normal techniques" for destroying Republicans "bounce off of Trump."

"There's a coordinated effort," Mr. Limbaugh said. "CNN reports on the existence of the report but they don't detail it. Jake Tapper, who wants to be known as one of the most highly respected journalists in the world, decides to start vomiting this stuff — but he doesn't get into details. That's a signal for BuzzFeed to go ahead and release and publish all 35 pages. And BuzzFeed does so while telling everybody that none of it has been verified."

Tied to Arab company that quietly took over Florida port

NEW YORK –
It was in a beat-up VW van that Barack Obama's "Choom Gang" of high-school buddies in Hawaii traveled more than three decades ago.

Last weekend, some of those old friends – "choom" means to smoke marijuana – and a college roommate rode with the president to a wedding in Florida, this time on Air Force One.

Choom gangers Greg Orme and Bobby Titcomb were among the guests, according to a White House press pool report, along with Occidental College roommate Hassan Chandoo.

Another Occidental roommate, Wahid Hamid, joined Chandoo and former members of the Choom Gang in August for a flight on Marine One to Camp David to celebrate Obama's 55th birthday.

Hamid, who became a campaign fundraiser for the president, accompanied Obama to Karachi, Pakistan, in 1981 to visit Chandoo's family, a trip Obama touted during his 2008 run to bolster his foreign-policy credentials.

LEGENDARY COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 1-14-17

Salisbury in the Revolution

The war history of Salisbury before the First World War can be told in a few words. The people here have always been for peace, although it furnished some troops to both the Confederate and National armies during the Civil War and a number of its young men went to the front as volunteers during the Spanish-American War. The only time its people, however, came face to face with "grim visaged war" was during the Revolution, and this incident cannot be said to exactly redound to the patriotism of some of its inhabitants. Nearly all of the settlers were either descendants of or were connected with the English gentry and were intensely loyal to the King in his quarrel with the thirteen colonies. When Washington took the field many became Tories, as such sympathizers were called, and they started an armed insurrection under the leadership of a man of gigantic stature named Ben Allen. For a time they terrorized the patriots and on February 18, 1777, General William Smallwood, the commander of the famous Maryland Line in the Continental Army, was sent by Washington with a body of troops. He established headquarters at Salisbury and prepared to give battle, but it resulted in little more than a brisk skirmish in which Allen was shot through the head, dying instantly. His followers fled ignominiously, but many of them were captured. Other sympathizers with the King were arrested, and for a time the jails of Annapolis and Cambridge were filled with prisoners. But the death of Allen put an end to the hopes of the loyalists and this was their first and last attempt to resist the American troops. Allen, so far as history tells us, was the only man killed in the skirmish, and was buried in the yard of St. Peters Church. During later construction, in 1925, when a recess chancel was added to the church, the workmen disinterred a gigantic skeleton. The skull was in a remarkable state of preservation and upon a close examination a bullet hole was discovered to have pierced it through and through. On account of the large size of the skull, the fact that Allen had been shot in the head and the fact that he was buried in St. Peter's churchyard, though his grave was unmarked, the reasonable supposition is that the skull belonged to him. Since St. Peters also owned Parsons Cemetery, the graves were moved there.

All of my Cabinet nominee are looking good and doing a great job. I want them to be themselves and express their own thoughts, not mine!
But then quickly snapped to the "intelligence" lies and fake news of the media. As The Hill reports, President-elect Donald Trump struck a new blow in his war of words with the intelligence community on Friday, tweeting that the IC "probably" leaked new reports against him "even knowing there is no proof."

Silenced: DC Radio Station Pulls Pro-Life Ad Off Air

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 05:30 AM PST

The Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) says Washington, D.C. radio station WTOP has pulled its paid-for ad off the air after receiving complaints from listeners.

The national pro-life organization's paid advertisement urges the redirection of taxpayer funds from abortion business Planned Parenthood to other federally qualified healthcare centers that provide more comprehensive care.

Susan B. Anthony List has learned from Washington, D.C. radio station WTOP that it will discontinue airing our paid advertisement regarding taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood," said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. "This regrettable response to our radio spot on one of the lead topics in the current national debate is shameful for a First Amendment institution like WTOP."

Dannenfelser added:

One of the surest signs that a policy message like ours is effective is its opponents' pushing to silence it. Planned Parenthood speaks boldly of its pride in performing more abortions than any other entity in the United States and packaging the body parts of these aborted children for profitable use. These are the facts, however uncomfortable they may be for some to hear..

Soros-Funded Groups Back Anti-Trump Women’s March

The Women's March on Washington, a celebrity-endorsed event planned for the day after Donald Trump's inauguration, is backed by a who's who of far-left organizations, including scores of groups financed by billionaire George Soros.

The march has been described by the news media as a female protest against Trump, with reports that hundreds of thousands might attend.

The mission statement for the march claims that the gathering is meant to send a message "that women's rights are human rights."

The official partner's list for the Women's March on Washington reads like a who's who of the far-left, including groups such as CODEPINK, the Southern Poverty Law Center and 350.org.

Many of the march "partners" are financed by Soros, including: Sierra Club, Amnesty International, MoveOn.org, NAACP, Green For All, Center for Constitutional Rights, Human Rights Watch, MoveOn.org, NARAL Pro-Choice, People for the American Way, and Planned Parenthood.

Donald Trump Likely First Drug-Free President In 24 Years

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 04:30 AM PST

When he takes his oath of office on January 20, Donald Trump will likely be the first president in 24 years to have never used any form of illegal drug.

Trump has long claimed that he has never once smoked cigarettes, touched alcohol or used drugs, which would distinguish him from the last three men to occupy the White House, all of whom either admitted to drug use or refused to deny it. While younger voters are more likely to support legalizing marijuana, for those who were born after January 20, 1993, Trump will likely be the first president in their lifetime to have never used illegal drugs.

"If you don't drink and you don't do drugs, your children … are going to have a tremendously enhanced chance of really being successful and having a good life," Trump explained at a 2015 New Hampshire town hall. New Hampshire has been ravaged by opioid overdoses in recent years.

"The world is so tough and it is so competitive that you can't put yourself, as a child, or even as a parent, if you want that child to be successful, at a disadvantage of letting them drink or letting them take drugs because it is not going to work," Trump said, urging sobriety. "They are going to be at a tremendous disadvantage and ultimately they may not recover."

Justices Hear Case That Could Prove Costly for Schools

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 04:00 AM PST

U.S. Supreme Court justices were asked Wednesday to set a higher standard for the education of disabled children, a change which could prove expensive for school districts.

That is the crux of the case brought by Endrew F., a Colorado student with autism, whose parents contend that his public school failed to give him the level of education he legally deserves. Endrew's parents put him in private school and sued the school district to cover the cost of his private school tuition.

The Douglas County (Colorado) School District maintains it met the requirements of federal law, which guarantees disabled students a "free and appropriate public education."

School districts around the country — and federal circuit courts — have interpreted that federal mandate differently. Endrew's attorneys, with the backing of the U.S. Justice Department, are asking the high court to rule that schools must offer "significant" rather than "some" educational benefit to such students.

Neal Katyal, the lawyer for Douglas County School District, argued that most disabled students in public schools receive a quality education under the status quo.

DNA Upon Arrest: Solving Cold Cases or Presuming Guilt?

Posted: 14 Jan 2017 03:00 AM PST

When someone fatally shot an 82-year-old man who was checking his mailbox in the Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville one afternoon in September, police had few leads to go on. When someone shot at police stations in Indianapolis a few weeks later, police again were unable to identify a suspect.

Police connected the two crimes because shell casings showed the same rifle was used in both. But their big break came when they were able to match DNA left on the casings and on a note left at one of the police stations with a DNA sample taken from a burglary suspect in Ohio in 2015. The match led to the arrest of Damoine Wilcoxson, 21, of Indianapolis, for the crimes.

Wilcoxson was never convicted of burglary in Ohio. But because Ohio is one of at least 32 states that allow police to take DNA samples from people as soon as they are arrested for a felony and enter them into a national database, Indiana authorities were able to crack the case.

"We had no leads," said Todd Meyer, prosecutor for Boone County, Indiana, where the murder occurred. "Without the DNA we were able to obtain from his felony arrest in another state, I believe the case would continue to be unsolved. We had nothing to lead us in that direction."

Liberals want you to believe it's just the late edition, BS! This is just another reason print papers are flat out done. Take the Daily Times for example. Just ask around. I only have ONE neighbor left who gets the Daily Times. Most of my neighbors recently canceled  their subscriptions. My favorite excuse from them, "I'm done with it in two minutes every day". Face it, they made promises, (once again) they did not deliver on and people are no longer STUPID to their promises.

Yesterday was yet another prime example of their Fake News. They really want people to believe crime is down? Yeah, I guess when you cover all the crime up, when you refuse to investigate ANYTHING when it comes to crime and the lack of it being reported, I guess crime is down.

However, people aren't stupid. SBYNews has been exposing the crime issues for THIRTEEN YEARS. With millions of people viewing our Site these days, the Daily Times can TRY to continue to hide the truth but they are quickly learning people won't stand for it any more, unless you're a Liberal Idiot who just loves being lied to.

Print News Is Dead.

Most American can't afford Surprise Expense

A $500 surprise expense would put most Americans into debt

While the jobless rate is down and wages are up, most Americans nevertheless remain one misstep away from a financial crisis.

Fifty-seven percent of Americans don't have enough cash to cover a $500 unexpected expense, according to a new survey from Bankrate, which interviewed 1,003 adults earlier this month. While that may appear dire, it reflects a slight improvement from 2016, when 63 percent of U.S. residents said they wouldn't be able to handle such an expense. The improvement reflects the stronger U.S. economy, but is still far from ideal, Bankrate.com said.

The findings shed light on how many households continue to struggle with their basic finances more than seven years after the official end to the recession. Despite steady job growth during the Obama administration, wages have been slow to recover, with the typical American household still earning 2.4 percent below what they brought home in 1999, when income peaked. At the same time, costs for essentials such as housing and child care have surged faster than the rate of inflation, placing stress on household budgets.

More than 70 million Americans are contacted by a debt collector or creditor each year. While those debt collectors have a job — to get borrowers to repay on their overdue debts — some have used illegal tactics, such as threatening lawsuits, arrests, or contacting consumers' employers or family members. Now, a new report by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finds that harassment by these collectors is all too common.

4 Reasons Amazon Is Willing To Accept Food Stamps For Grocery Delivery

This year, some Americans participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, aka "Food Stamps"), will be able to pay for groceries online through Amazon, FreshDirect, and some supermarket chains. Given that food delivery services have thus far tended to cater to higher-income consumers, why are these companies — and in particular, Amazon — eager to accept SNAP payments?
