Orlando shooting suspect’s father hosted a political TV show and even tried to run for the Afghan presidency

The father of Omar Mateen, identified by police as the man behind the carnage at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, is an Afghan man who holds strong political views, including support for the Afghan Taliban.

Seddique Mateen, who has been referred to as Mir Seddique in early news reports, hosted the "Durand Jirga Show" on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, which broadcasts from California. In it, the elder Mateen speaks in the Dari language on a variety of political subjects. Dozens of videos are posted on a channel under Seddique Mateen's name on YouTube. A phone number and post office box that are displayed on the show were traced back to the Mateen home in Florida. Mateen also owns a nonprofit organization under the name Durand Jirga, which is registered in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

In one video, Mateen expresses gratitude toward the Afghan Taliban, while denouncing the Pakistani government.

Man with weapons and possible explosives arrested, was going to L.A. gay pride parade, sources say

LOS ANGELES: Authorities in Santa Monica found possible explosives as well as assault rifles and ammunition Sunday in the car of a man who told them he was in town for the L.A. Pride festival in West Hollywood, a law enforcement source said.

Early Sunday,  Santa Monica police received a call of a suspected prowler near Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. Patrol officers responded and encountered an individual who told officers he was waiting for a friend. That led officers to inspect the car and find several weapons and a lot of ammunition as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb.

The car had Indiana plates. The man made comments that he was in town for the Pride event in West Hollywood this weekend. The source said authorities did not know of any connection between the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday morning and the Santa Monica incident. The investigation has been taken over by the FBI. The source said the man appeared to be white.

A city official in West Hollywood also confirmed the arrest and stressed that officials were beefing up security at the gay pride event.

"They found him with weapons that were very disconcerting," said the source, adding officials are "taking the appropriate safety precautions."

The parade comes hours after the attack at the Orlando club that killed 50 people. At least 53 were injured in the deadliest shooting in modern American history after a gunman took hostages. The gunman has been identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, a U.S. law enforcement official said.

More than 600-people live in Florida, and one security expert believes that many of those targeted live in Palm Beach County and on the Treasure Coast.
The "United Cyber Caliphate" that hacked U.S. Central Command, 54,000 Twitter accounts and threatened President Barack Obama is the same pro-Isis group that's reportedly created a "kill list" with the names, addresses and emails of thousands of civilian Americans.

Orlando Shooter Identified. Here's What We Know

1. The shooter's name was Omar Mateen. He used an AR-15. Here's a photo of him shared on social media:

2. Mateen was a US Citizen born to Afghan parents. His father has apologized and does not believe the attacks were religiously motivated, but that they were motivated by anti-gay attitudes. He said his son was recently angered by the sight of two men kissing.

3. Mateen was apparently "on the radar" of US officials for quite some time.

4. He was a registered Democrat.

5. He was killed in a shootout early this morning.

While some may have a rip roaring time demonizing our local politicians during this time of grave importance, remember: 100 Parents lost their child last night! 50 souls lost their lives - irrelevant is their sexual preference. This is the largest mass shooting in American history with victims being young!

Terrorism is something Americans need to start taking seriously as it's no laughing matter anymore. Orlando is a prime example of the very dangerous violence that lurks within our shadows and sometimes in blatant sunlight. Yet, many from the Left ostracize Trump for his proposed Muslim Ban.

Yes, I know, before you start to press comment, last night's perpetrator is a US citizen; however, someone had to know. Our PC-overkill culture has created upset and fear to turn people in - just like San Bernadino. People are leery to reveal what they know about a relative or neighbor or friend because they are fearful of being branded a Racist!

Hence, this election is more important than any other because the time has come for us to embrace, Radical Islam is ideological. This isn't an enemy that's merely in a civil war coup or arguments over nuclear disarmament. This is much worse.

Wake up, Eastern Shore! This country belongs to every legal citizen of it. It's time we stopped placating and start defending our own citizens.

ISIS-associated Twitter accounts cheered the efforts of the gunman who killed at least 50 people at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning.
Many of the tweets — carrying the #Pulse hashtag — threatened more violence on American soil if the United States doesn't remove troops from Iraq and Syria.

ORLANDO, Fla. - A shooting and hostage situation early Sunday morning at a Florida nightclub -- which describes itself as "Orlando's hottest gay bar" -- left multiple people dead, including the gunman, officials say.

Sources have confirmed to CBS News that authorities are investigating whether the suspect, who has been named as Omar Mateen, had ties to Islamic terrorism. Mateen is a U.S. citizen with no apparent criminal history, according to sources.

Orlando Police chief John Mina said "around 20" people are believed dead inside the nightclub, although he and others were hesitant to provide firm numbers as the situation was still being assessed early Sunday morning.

Local hospitals report receiving at least 42 patients from the incident.

A U.S. intelligence source told CBS news senior investigative producer Pat Milton that Islamic terrorism is being investigated as a possible motive in the shooting due to several indicators including the style of the attack, which had similarities to the attacks in Paris in November 2015 and Brussels in March. The gunman put up a protracted gun battle with police and was heavily armed, the source said.

Never was there a year so pivotal in our history...that is, until now.

Millennials weren't around in that fateful year but many baby boomers  remember 1968 well. Some of us were little kids but the year was so devastating in our history, it was even felt on a child's level. Many young ones, having no idea about '68, don't grasp when political pundits brings it up, how America was torn apart at the seams.

Chicago Rioters
Hippies of love provided a stark contrast because while love may have been abundant in the Haight-Ashbury culture, social unrest was everywhere else. Vietnam had become wildly unpopular. Two assassinations of prominent Political and Civil Rights heroes had come the Spring before the Democratic National Convention, which was fraught with violence in Chicago's streets. In short, the country was in turmoil - in every way possible.

Martin Luther King, Jr. & Robert Kennedy
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination in April caused major disturbances throughout the black community everywhere. In Salisbury, the area where most of the black families lived, was ablaze for a couple days as they burned their homes down, which took many years to rebuild. Two months late, in June, Bobby Kennedy, running for the Democrat nomination was gunned down in Los Angeles at the infamous Ambassador Hotel. Ironically, it was Bobby who preached to the black community not to riot upon news of King's death. Both assassinations hit at the heart of America's youth and minorities as both King and Kennedy were their voice against the status quo.

Vietnam
President Lyndon Johnson, by this point, was unpopular with young men because every week, more and more were sent to Vietnam to fight a war many couldn't understand why we were involved. As the first televised war, every night at 6:00pm sharp, Vietnam came into every living room across the country, giving us horror images that have remained ingrained in our minds ever since.

After Johnson decided to not run for re-election, pandemonium reigned the months leading up to the DNC convention. And we all know it worked out; the summer's riots, many believe, have much to do with the outcome.

As we now watch each violent riot unfold on our big flatscreens, we feel the same fears and apprehension felt in that tumultuous year many decades ago. With the brazen lawlessness, a sense of urgency as America spirals out of control with special interest groups taking us hostage with their chants while shutting down free speech - at least, speech they don't agree with - forcing themselves on us.

Is it the candidates' fault? Not really. This kettle started simmering when Obama began dividing people into categories; pitting one against the other. It also comes from local governments issuing stand down orders to its police force, thus, letting physical assaults and property destruction run rampant without consequence.

America is, yet once again, at another fateful crossroads where we must decide whether to restore prosperity to all people rather than a chosen few or continue to spiral down into a country devoid of its sovereignty and the eradication of its 200+ year old Constitution, once and for all.

BREAKING NEWS – Authorities in Florida said at a news conference Sunday morning that "as many as 20 people died" in a shooting at an Orlando nightclub. The gunman was killed.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at least 42 people have been transported to area hospitals.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said officials are investigating the shooting as an "act of terrorism," but it was unclear whether it was domestic or international terrorism, or if the shooter was a lone wolf.

Mina said officers were called to Pulse Orlando, a popular gay nightclub, at around 2 a.m. after reports of a shooting. He said officers were engaged in a gun battle outside the club before the suspect went back into the building where more shots were fired. He said the gunman then took several hostages.

RE: County Employees and Retirees Benefits 

There have been numerous media publications regarding suggested compensation and benefit proposals for County employees and retirees. Much of the information being presented is not correct. In an attempt to properly communicate with County employees and retirees as to the accurate status of the County's personnel system and compensation packages, it is my understanding the concerns are as follows: 

 County Personnel Manual: The 2003 Wicomico County Personnel Manual of Policies and Procedures (MPPP hereafter) is the County's legislatively adopted employee personnel manual. The County Council has not adopted any revisions to the personnel manual. The personnel manual project is still in process for updating the 2003 MPPP based on employee feedback. The revisions are being submitted to the County Council, by chapter, upon the completion of any recommended revisions. 

 Employee Benefit Reductions: There have been no changes to County employee benefits. Furthermore, there have been no recommendations for any changes to employee benefits. 

 Health Insurance Rate Increase: The active County employee health insurance premium will increase 6.16%. Pre-Medicare retiree's premiums will increase 14.86%. The increase in premiums are determined by the Health Insurance provider and are based on the members claim rates (actual cost of medical claims). In addition to negotiating a lesser increase in premiums (originally quoted to be over 10% for active employees and over 17% for pre-Medicare retirees), the County is inquiring on various wellness strategies to minimize future health costs without reducing the level of health coverage.

The overall insurance contract went up 6.16% for active employees and 14.86% for Pre-Medicare retirees. Of the total employee/retiree contract, the County will pay 85% and employee will pay 15% (individual coverage). The County will pay 75% and the employee will pay 25% for dependents. The County will pay $939,729 in health insurance cost increases.

 Medicare (over 65) Supplemental Retiree Health Insurance: The County was able to acquire a more enhanced supplemental health insurance coverage for the over 65 years of age Medicare primary retirees for nearly half the current cost. Human Resources has coordinated a meeting at the Wicomico County Civic Center on June 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. to educate the members and assist in enrollment. This benefit has not been reduced, it is much more affordable, and it is beyond comparable to the CareFirst coverage. 

 Compensatory Time: There have been no changes to compensatory time. Compensatory time is in accordance to the County Personnel Manual (2003). Compensatory time can be earned as follows: a) Exempt up to 80 hours; b) Non-exempt up to 240 hours; and, c) Law enforcement and Corrections up to 480 hours. The County Executive did eliminate Department Heads from accruing compensatory time as they are paid a set salary and are not governed by all provisions of the County Personnel Manual. The County Executive does have the expectation that the Department Heads will prudently manage compensatory and overtime. 

 County Employee Raises: County employees not governed by the collective bargaining agreement have been budgeted to receive a 3% salary increase effective fiscal year 2017. This raise was proposed before any finalization of health insurance premiums set by CareFirst (or any other benefit premium). Furthermore, the County has implemented the most recent compensation study based on job class over the last several fiscal years. In fiscal year 2014 the Correctional Officer compensation study was implemented to bring the Correctional Officer salaries closer to market. This upcoming fiscal year (2017), the County Executive proposes the implementation of the compensation study for Motor Equipment Operators, Crew Leaders, and Maintenance Workers. These positions were found to be nearly 30% below market. It is the Executive's goal to continue to re-evaluate employee compensation through studies such as this in upcoming fiscal years in order for the County to increase our marketability and be able to recruit and retain the most qualified workforce. 

While there have been no direct inquiries to the Department of Human Resources regarding the accuracies of these concerns, I remind you that the Department of Human Resources has an open door policy to address any and all matters. However, must know the concerns before we can address them. We will make every effort to further educate all employees regarding any personnel matter. Please feel free to contact the Department of Human Resources at (410) 334- 3105 with any additional questions.

Please note: We are looking at the compensation for all departments throughout the County. However, departments will have to work with us as we can only, affordably, make adjustments to departments annually.

Should Johnny Really Go To College?

Little story. A few years ago, I needed an electrician to fix a faulty outside electrical socket after a hard rain. After much calling around (even to my neighbor who is an electrician,) I found getting this simple 10 minute task would have to wait for three weeks to get done. Finally, I found Mr. Bradshaw. He came over and fixed the socket, (bringing parts with so no down time)! Calling around was the biggest investment of my time that day -- over two hours of answering machines and Suzy automation. Sadly, Mr. Bradshaw passed away in 2013. Now what?

If you're a homeowner, you know finding people skilled in plumbing and electricity is very hard - especially on the Eastern Shore -- and quite expensive. While Bradshaw was very reasonable, the plumber I use charges me a king's ransom every time he comes to my house, regardless the issue.

So why am I bothering you on a Sunday morning with this story?



As the title says, "should Johnny really go to college?"

All this talk about free college education is absolutely absurd. While this will no doubtfully get me chastised, I must state: Not all people are meant for a collegiate experience. Oh, sure, we'd all love to think our little Bobs and Sues are college bound and smarter than Einstein, but let's get real here. Not all people possess the mentality for academia.

Unfortunately, now, we have TOO many people in college, wasting space (like the black girls that did the lynching 'artwork' at Blackwell a month or so back.) Yet trade skills are dwindling. Not many people get out of high school and hold dreams of being a plumber or electrician - yet, we NEED them more than we need paper/pencil pushing brainiacs behind a desk in some fancy, schmaltzy office. In reality, the last thing we really need on the Eastern Shore is one MORE lawyer when we have an over-abundance of them now!

All the young ones want to be corporate raiders but in reality, we desperately need more skilled labor in our workforce. This reigns true particularly for small areas like Salisbury, where there needs to be a healthy competition to keep prices reasonable.

As you can see from my handy graph for your visual cortex, many don't finish college (showing a lack of commitment to a task for some employers) and so why discourage them from attending a trade school - even while in high school? Nothing says more about accomplishment than a new house with excellent wiring and plumbing or a car rebuilt by a skilled mechanic! And let us not forget, while you take it for granted more times than not, your life would be very bland with a city full of white houses. Professional house painters make it possible for you to have a beautiful home - as with landscapers. Highly skilled bricklayers are an asset to any community!

While we hear Bernie's crowd feeling the free college, we have to wonder what that means. A few months back, I challenged this pseudo intellectualism about Socialism but many were more concerned about whether or not I'd ever lived in London rather than the point I was illustrating.

So here's the fact: In England, one must TEST and pass successfully in order to get into free college. Furthermore, the profession you choose may not be the profession the government needs; therefore, you can go to college but you'll have to be what the government thinks is a good fit for you! If you want to be a doctor, but you test as an accountant, you can pursue medicine on your own dime. If you want to crunch beans, you'll get educated for free. Actually, if we go by way of England, our trade market would increase because people testing in the trades would increase! College would be barred for those people testing high in the skilled trade areas.

Regardless of whether or not we go free in this country, the premise of testing still should be implemented. Trade schools should be a viable option because there's nothing wrong with being in the trades. In fact, plumbers have notoriously been considered as a 'rich' trade. So you don't have to worry that your babies will grow up paupers just because they know plumbing rather than Shakespeare.

See my point?

To be honest with you, if I were in my twenties again, I'd study a trade rather than going to college. One can always pursue academics at another time of their life after they've made their bank; but very few can go crawling about under a house at sixty-something without much physical pain!

Goodson Attorneys Call For Dismissal Over Prosecutors' Meeting With Allen

On what was scheduled to be the first day of the trial of Baltimore City Police Officer Caesar Goodson, Judge Barry Williams is scheduled to hold a hearing this morning over whether the charges should be dismissed.

In a court filing dated Monday, but unsealed last night, Goodson's attorneys argue the charges should be dismissed because prosecutors had a meeting with Donta Allen, the second man who was loaded into the police transport van with Freddie Gray, and did not notify the defense.

Defense attorney Matthew Fraling argued prosecutor's actions violated Goodson's "constitutional rights."

Fraling argued that the Court found the prosecutors withheld evidence to the defense on two prior occasions and this is the "third strike."

He was born male but identifies as female. Nattaphon "Ice" Wangyot, an 18-year old senior at Haines High School, became the first transgender athlete to compete individually for a high school state championship, the Alaska Dispatch News reported.

Wangyot competed in the Class 3A girls' sprints at the Alaska state meet, grabbing third place in the 200-meter dash (27.3 seconds) and fifth in the 100 (13.36 seconds).

Wangyot's participation didn't sit well with many families and athletes, including the Alaska Family Action president Jim Minnery who was part of a protest that took place outside the track event.

One person was arrested after holding up a convenience store on 9th St near the boardwalk, after the same individual robbed another person at knife point moments earlier. Lets see if the OCPD releases any of this information. 

I'm hearing downtown OC is being over run with thugs.

Princess Anne Police investigate woman found dead behind Food Lion

PRINCESS ANNE — Princess Anne Police Chief Tim Bozman reports that officers responded to the wooded area behind Food Lion here on Sunday, June 5 to investigate a report of a deceased person being located.

Police were able to identify the person as Tiffany Huang Moisan, 48, from Kemp Nursery Road, located near Princess Anne. She had been reported missing her family on June 4.

Moisan's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. "Although there was no apparent signs of foul play, this incident remains under investigation pending results from the autopsy," the chief stated in a prepared news release.

Moisan worked at the Wallops Flight Facility for more than 15 years. Previously she worked at the University of California, and went to school at Texas A&M, earning her Ph.D. at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

A Texas high school valedictorian has revealed she is an illegal immigrant in her graduation speech.

Larissa Martinez told classmates at McKinney Boyd High School that she was one of the 11million undocumented citizens living in the United States after she fled her abusive and alcoholic father in Mexico.

The 18-year-old, who has been offered a full scholarship to Yale, said she decided against giving her classmates the 'traditional Hallmark version' of the speech and instead opted for the truth.

The teenager told the crowd of thousands: 'Immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, are people too'.

'We are here without documentation because the US immigration system is broken and forces many families to live in fear.'

She also used the speech to slam Donald Trump's plans to build a wall based on 'hate and prejudice'.

Before Obama there was virtually no outlandish presence of Islam in America.

• All of a sudden, Islam is taught in schools. Christianity and the bible are banned in schools.

• All of a sudden we must allow prayer rugs everywhere and allow for Islamic prayer in schools, airports and businesses.

• All of a sudden we must stop serving pork in prisons.

• All of a sudden we are inundated with law suits by Muslims who are offended by American culture.

Labor Department Accuses Enterprise Subsidiary Of Discriminatory Hiring Practices

An Enterprise Rent-A-Car subsidiary is being sued for race-based discrimination by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Enterprise RAC of Baltimore, LLC, a federal contractor, was targeted for a compliance review by the department. That found that the company engaged in racially discriminatory hiring practices and failed to maintain personnel and employment records pursuant to an executive order. They found that African-American and white job applicants were not treated equally, and black applicants were more likely to be rejected in initial screening and after the first interview. The department claims those practices are ongoing.

"All workers deserve a fair shot at equal employment opportunities and advancement," Patricia A. Shiu, director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, said in a statement. "Our action against Enterprise highlights our commitment to combating discrimination against qualified workers."

The government is asking an administrative law judge to order Enterprise to stop violating the executive order and the office's regulations, and to require them to provide relief to aggrieved African-American job applicants.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that leftist billionaire and Democratic mega-donor George Soros, a convicted insider trader, has stepped back into trading personally in recent months, betting big on his view that Europe is underestimating the cost of the current illegal immigration crisis from Muslim-majority countries – at the same time he calls for increasing that cost and acknowledges groups he underwrites are pushing to worsen that crisis, the worst since World War II.

In October 2015, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Soros's native Hungary charged that the Muslim-majority "invasion is driven, on the one hand, by people smugglers, and on the other by [human rights] activists who support everything that weakens the nation-state…perhaps best represented by George Soros," according to a report in Bloomberg, "Orban Accuses Soros of Stoking Refugee Wave to Weaken Europe."

Orbán stressed, "His name is perhaps the strongest example of those who support anything that weakens nation states, they support everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle."

In response, Mr. Soros issued an email statement to Bloomberg Business saying his groups viewed "protection of refugees as the objective and national borders as the obstacle."

Teen killed when distracted highway cop slams into car

ORLAND, Calif. -- A California Highway Patrol officer was looking at his computer while driving when he crashed into a stopped vehicle in Northern California Tuesday, killing a 15-year-old boy.

According to CBS Chico affiliate KHSL-TV, the teen was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra that was stopped in a construction zone on Interstate 5 near Orland, about 100 miles north of Sacramento.

Authorities said a CHP officer driving a mobile road enforcement truck down I-5 was looking at his computer but didn't notice the stopped traffic ahead in time to avoid a crash.

"When he looked up, traffic was slowing and coming to a stop, applied his brakes and rear-ended the vehicle that was in front of him, which subsequently got pushed into two other vehicles that were stopped," CHP Sgt. Tony Odell told the station.

Washington National Cathedral to Rid Windows of Confederate Battle Flag

The Washington National Cathedral, one of the nation's most prominent houses of worship, said on Wednesday that it would remove two images of the Confederate battle flag that have been part of its stained-glass windows for more than 60 years.

The windows that depict the two flags were installed in 1953 to pay tribute to Gen. Stonewall Jackson and Gen. Robert E. Lee of the Confederate Army. The cathedral said in a statement that, while the flags will be removed shortly, the windows would remain to "serve as a catalyst for the difficult and uncomfortable conversations about race that we need to have on the road to racial justice."

"Instead of simply taking the windows down and going on with business as usual, the cathedral recognizes that, for now, they provide an opportunity for us to begin to write a new narrative on race and racial justice at the cathedral and perhaps for our nation," the Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, the cathedral's canon theologian, said in the statement.

Target CEO Stands by Transgender Bathroom Policy Despite $10B in Losses

Target CEO Brian Cornell defended the company's transgender bathroom policy decision to shareholders while also denying that the $10 billion in losses suffered since had anything to do with the controversial decision, Breitbart reported.

The new policy, instituted seven weeks ago, allows transgender men and women to use the bathrooms and changing rooms of the gender they identify with at all Target stores.

That decision has been the impetus behind a boycott of Target by about 1 million Americans.

"We're a company that believes strongly in diversity and inclusion," LifeSiteNews quoted Cornell at Wednesday's shareholder meeting in Costa Mesa, Calif. "We're a company that is very guest-centered."

Justin Danhof, director of the National Center Free Enterprise Project, attended the meeting and has been a vocal critic of the retailer's decision to open up bathrooms.

"Target's shareholder meeting was appalling from beginning to end," Danhof said. "Liberal corporate leaders such as Cornell throw around the words 'diversity' and 'inclusion' so much they are starting to lose their meaning."

Probation For Beating Goose

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man, arrested along with two juveniles for intentionally killing a goose in the city park during an afternoon in March, pleaded guilty this week to aggravated animal cruelty and was sentenced to 18 months in jail, all of which were then suspended.

Around 2 p.m. on March 21, Salisbury Police responded to the City Park in the area of Ben's Red Swings for a report of suspects chasing and striking geese with sticks. Officers arrived on the scene and met with witnesses who identified the suspects involved as well as the dead goose that was floating in the water.

The investigation revealed the suspects were walking through the park carrying large sticks and chasing geese. The suspects were then witnessed striking the geese with the sticks as they chased them. According to police reports, the geese were chased and struck as they entered the water, where they were found to be deceased. Salisbury Police Animal Control Officers responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Salisbury Police arrested Domonick Hall-Mallory, 18, of Salisbury, along with a 17-year-old juvenile and a 14-year-old juvenile. Hall-Mallory was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, false statement to police and obstructing. The two juveniles were each charged with aggravated animal cruelty and were released to their guardians.

‘DREAMER’ BRUTALLY RAPED WOMAN IN CHICAGO

CHICAGO, IL – An 18-year-old man and his friend allegedly raped and beat a middle-aged woman so severely in the basement of a Logan Square apartment building, her dentures fell out during the attack and she was left with a broken jaw, cuts and bruises.

The woman was found in a pool of blood ten hours after the sexual assault at the hands of the pair who she had met and played pool with earlier at the Two Way Lounge, according to Cook County prosecutors.

Judge Peggy Chiampas called the April 25 incident "brutal and heinous" and said detectives told her the woman "would never be the same."

"Attack is not even an appropriate word for me to use in this case," a visibly disturbed Chiampas said Friday before ordering Geovannie Collazo held without bond for aggravated criminal sexual assault and attempted first degree murder.

Collazo's alleged cohort has not yet been charged.

Washington Schools to Teach Gender Identity Curriculum in Kindergarten

Kindergarten used to be a place for children to learn how to add, subtract, and read. Next year, Washington school children as young as five years old will instead be learning about gender fluidity and the differences between gender and sexual identity.

The newly-minted health and physical education standards, released by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), will be implemented in schools across the state for the 2017-2018 school year.

As reported by The Daily Caller, the new standards require students to learn about gender identity and expression beginning in kindergarten.

Beginning in Kindergarten, students will be taught about the many ways to express gender. Gender expression education will include information about the manifestations of traits that are typically associated with one gender. Crossdressing is one form of gender expression.

Third graders will be introduced to the concept of gender identity. These children will be taught that they can choose their own gender.

Fourth graders will be expected to "define sexual orientation," which refers to whether a person identifies as heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual; they'll also be taught about HIV prevention. Children in fourth grade will be told that they can choose their sexual orientation.

Fourth and fifth graders will learn about the relativity of gender roles and why such roles are social constructs that are not inherent to who we are as male or female human beings.

Seventh graders will be expected to "distinguish between biological sex, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation."

High school students will critically "evaluate how culture, media, society, and other people influence our perceptions of gender roles, sexuality, relationships, and sexual orientation."

It is unfortunate that my comments have been misconstrued as a categorical attack against people of Mexican heritage. I am friends with and employ thousands of people of Mexican and Hispanic descent. The American justice system relies on fair and impartial judges. All judges should be held to that standard. I do not feel that one's heritage makes them incapable of being impartial, but, based on the rulings that I have received in the Trump University civil case, I feel justified in questioning whether I am receiving a fair trial.

Over the past few weeks, I have watched as the media has reported one inaccuracy after another concerning the ongoing litigation involving Trump University. There are several important facts the public should know and that the media has failed to report.

Throughout the litigation my attorneys have continually demonstrated that students who participated in Trump University were provided a substantive, valuable education based upon a curriculum developed by professors from Northwestern University, Columbia Business School, Stanford University and other respected institutions. And, the response from students was overwhelming. Over a five year period, more than 10,000 paying students filled out surveys giving the courses high marks and expressing their overwhelming satisfaction with Trump University's programs. For example:

Former student Tarla Makaeff, the original plaintiff in the litigation, not only completed multiple surveys rating Trump University's three-day seminar "excellent" in every category, but also praised Trump University's mentorship program in a glowing 5 plus minute video testimonial. When asked "how could Trump University help to meet [her] goals", she simply stated "[c]ontinue to offer great classes." Once the plaintiffs' lawyers realized how disastrous a witness she was, they asked to have her removed from the case. Over my lawyers' objections, the judge granted the plaintiffs' motion, but allowed the case to continue.

Art Cohen, a lead plaintiffs in the litigation, completed a survey in which he not only rated Trump University's three-day seminar "excellent" in virtually every category, but went so far as to indicate that he would "attend another Trump University seminar" and even "recommend Trump University seminars to a friend." When asked how Trump University could improve the seminar, Mr. Cohen's only suggestion was to "[h]ave lunch sandwiches brought in" and make the lunch break 45 minutes.

Former student Bob Giullo, who has been critical of Trump University in numerous interviews and negative advertisements from my political opponents, also expressed his satisfaction, rating Trump University's programs "excellent" in every category. When asked how Trump University could improve its programs, Mr. Giullo simply asked that students be provided "more comfortable chairs."

Indeed, these are just a few of literally thousands of positive surveys, all of which can be viewed online at www.98percentapproval.com.

For those students who decided that Trump University's programs were not for them, the company had a generous refund policy, offering a full refund to any student who asked for their money back within 3 days of signing up for a program or by the end of the first day of any multi-day program, whichever came later.

Normally, legal issues in a civil case would be heard in a neutral environment. However, given my unique circumstances as nominee of the Republican Party and the core issues of my campaign that focus on illegal immigration, jobs and unfair trade, I have concerns as to my ability to receive a fair trial.

I am fighting hard to bring jobs back to the United States. Many companies – like Ford, General Motors, Nabisco, Carrier – are moving production to Mexico. Drugs and illegal immigrants are also pouring across our border. This is bad for all Americans, regardless of their heritage.

Due to what I believe are unfair and mistaken rulings in this case and the Judge's reported associations with certain professional organizations, questions were raised regarding the Obama appointed Judge's impartiality. It is a fair question. I hope it is not the case.

While this lawsuit should have been dismissed, it is now scheduled for trial in November. I do not intend to comment on this matter any further. With all of the thousands of people who have given the courses such high marks and accolades, we will win this case!

GOP Senate candidate criticizes Trump comments about judge

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland is criticizing Donald Trump's comments about a Latino judge who is overseeing a lawsuit involving Trump University.

Del. Kathy Szeliga (shuh-LEG-uh) wrote on her Facebook page Monday that Trump's comment about U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel "is insulting to all Americans."

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, has said Curiel's Mexican heritage means he cannot ensure a fair trial, because Trump wants to build a border wall to keep people from illegally entering the United States. Trump University is accused in two lawsuits of fleecing students with unfulfilled promises to teach them secrets of success in real estate. Trump denies the allegations.

Szeliga writes that saying anyone's ethnic background should disqualify them from public service "is, by definition, a racist statement."

Anyone who has ever made a left turn in a busy intersection understands that it can be a stressful maneuver. Not only do you have to wait impatiently for a break in the stream of cars coming the opposite direction, you often hold up a line of traffic, and even risk getting into a collision if other drivers aren't following the rules of the road.

But despite how standard it may seem to turn left into traffic, that's actually not an inevitable part of driving. There's an intersection design that could save you all that trouble.

The "diverging diamond interchange" creates designated ramps that gradually direct cars to veer left or right, without ever requiring them to cross in front of ongoing traffic.

Though it might look complicated, it's actually a simple concept. Say, for example, that you're driving from west to east. As you come to the intersection, a red light may stop you as you let cars going the other way pass. (This is the only time streams of traffic cross each other.) If you want to turn right, a lane peels off and merges with the road carrying southbound cars. If you want to turn left, you just follow the ramp that veers to the north.

U.S. Cities See Unexplained Rise In Violent Crimes This Year

CHICAGO (AP) — Violent crimes — from homicides and rapes to robberies — have been on the rise in many major U.S. cities, yet experts can't point to a single reason why and the jump isn't enough to suggest there's a trend.

Still, it is stumping law enforcement officials, who are seeking a way to combat the problem.

"It's being reported on at local levels, but in my view, it's not getting the attention at the national level it deserves," FBI Director James Comey said recently. "I don't know what the answer is, but holy cow, do we have a problem."

Americans have grown accustomed to low crime rates since a peak in the 1990s. But law enforcement started seeing a spike last year that has continued unabated. What's unusual, however, is that it's not happening everywhere. Chicago and Los Angeles are seeing homicides on the rise, but other places like Miami and Oakland are not.

School Calls Sheriff to Force 7-year-old to Stop Sharing Bible Verses

PALMDALE, Calif. – Palmdale's Desert Rose Elementary School faces potential litigation after school officials dispatched a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy to the home of a 7-year-old for sharing Bible verses during non-class time.

The Liberty Council, a religious liberties and education nonprofit law firm, recently sent a letter to school officials outlining "an outrageous violation of a first grader's constitutional rights" stemming from Bible verses his mother, Christina Zavala, packed with the boy's lunch.

The 7-year-old shared the daily Bible verses with his classmates, and many interested students requested their own copies, which Zavala happily provided along with short Bible stories for context, the Santa Monica Observer reports.

"However, when one little girl said 'teacher – this is the most beautiful story I've ever seen,' 'separation of church and state' was the response, and the notes were banned from lunchtime distribution," according to the Liberty Council. The student, identified as "C," "was told that the school gate was the only location at which he could give the Bible verses to his friends, and only after the bell rang."

Zavala wrote school officials April 19 to protest the decision. She contends her son was called in front of the class and reprimanded – ordered to cease discussions about religion – in retaliation.

Regardless, C complied with the school directive and distributed the daily Bible verses to his friends outside of the school gate. School officials were apparently not satisfied, and principal Melanie Pagliaro approached the student's father outside of the school May 9. The Liberty Council contends Pagliaro ordered the boy to move off of school property for the daily ritual, which continued to attract more of his classmates.
