NY Times Calls Republican a ‘Sore Loser’ for Recount Request, Gives Jill Stein a Pass Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:00 PM PST The New York Times editorial board, which has not yet written a word on Jill Stein's costly recount requests, lashed out on Thursday against North Carolina Republican Gov. Pat McCrory, who has not conceded his race due to concerns of "massive voter fraud" in the state. In the Times piece, headlined "North Carolina's Sore Loser," the editorial board complained that McCrory has refused to withdraw his request for a recount "despite having no path to victory" and has been "scouring voting rolls for evidence of fraud." "Despite having no path to victory, he has been engaged in an all-out assault on the integrity of the election system," wrote the editorial board. "It's dishonorable for Mr. McCrory to promote voting fraud myths and add fuel to voter suppression efforts as he's going out the door." The Times editorial board has not given the same treatment to the Green Party's Jill Stein, who has initiated recount requests that are expected to cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Stein is fighting for recounts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania—all states where Donald Trump's margin of victory over Hillary Clinton surpasses the margin in North Carolina. Clinton's lawyers have joined the recount effort, though the campaign says that it failed to find any "evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology." The New York Times has also acknowledged in its pages that there is no "evidence of election tampering." Though the editorial board has failed to issue an opinion on Stein's claim that the election was rigged by hackers, it did find time to bash Trump for making claims about election fraud without evidence. Best jobs for 2017: College degree not necessarily required Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:30 PM PST WASHINGTON — The professions expected to show one of the biggest job growth rates in 2017 and the largest growth in sheer number of jobs will be trade skills, according to a year-end report from CareerBuilder and labor market data provider Emsi. The U.S. economy is expected to add just over 1 million new jobs in fields such as electrician, plumber and HVAC technician in 2017. That's a job growth rate of 8 percent. The average hourly earnings for professionals in those fields will be $21.38, or about $45,000 a year in 2017, the report says. While skills trades generally don't require a college degree, they do require significant training, through apprenticeship programs and both in-class and on-the-job experience. More |
Warren: 'We Are Not the Minority...We Are the Party of Opposition' Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:00 PM PST (CNSNews.com) - Asked if the recent election shows Democrats are out of touch, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) heatedly rejected the notion on Wednesday: "Out of touch, when 2.3 million more people voted for the Democratic candidate than the Republican candidate?" Warren asked. "When the Democrats picked up seats in the Senate and the Republicans lost? When the Democrats picked up seats in the House of Representatives and the Republicans lost? "You know, let's be clear," Warren told CNN's Anderson Cooper in a taped interview. "We are not the minority here. We are the party of opposition." More |

SPLC Has Perfected the Politicization of Hate Crimes Posted: 02 Dec 2016 07:00 PM PST After Hillary Clinton lost the election, she, her staff, and her supporters were sent reeling. Many have yet to recuperate. In times past, such distraught persons would be attended to by priests, ministers, and rabbis, but today they have been replaced by grief counselors and puppies. Coloring books and playdough were given to soothe the anguish of law students at the University of Michigan, and therapists of every shade of grey were summoned to talk to the afflicted. Others rioted. They baited the police, beat up Trump supporters, destroyed property, and tied up traffic. Some were pros—veterans of Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter. Others were brats: affluent young men and women so bored with life that they spend most of their waking hours micro-analyzing perceived micro-aggressions against them. For relief, they take to the streets, providing it is not raining or too chilly. We are now in the third stage of this post-election trauma: the weeping and the violence have given way to hysteria. It is being led by left-wing activists, left-wing politicians, and left-wing media outlets. They are laboring to convince Americans that we are witnessing an unprecedented increase in bigotry, all traceable to Donald Trump. Since the election, no organization has done more to promote the myth that bigoted offenses are spiking than the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). That its data are weak is incontestable, but that hasn't stopped the mainstream media from treating its claims as gospel. On November 28, the SPLC released a report, "The Trump Effect: The Impact of the 2016 Presidential Election on Our Nation's Schools." It is being touted by the media as proof positive that Trump has triggered an avalanche of bigotry. But a more sober judgment reveals that the report is so methodologically flawed that it would not receive a passing grade in any second-tier graduate school. More |
VA dentist may have infected 600 veterans with HIV Posted: 02 Dec 2016 07:32 PM PST A Wisconsin VA dentist may have infected more than 600 veterans with HIV after failing to sanitize dental equipment and instruments between patients. Tomah's VA is offering free hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV screenings to the 592 veterans who received care from the questionable dentist, officials announced Tuesday. "I pray no one has an infection," Tomah VA acting medical director Victoria Brahm said at a press conference. The dentist — who has not been identified — has been removed from patient care and placed on administrative duty, Brahm said. More |
Pelosi: Her Election 'Is Well Beyond Politics. It's About the Character of America' Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:00 PM PST (CNSNews.com) - "I thought I'd just come by and tell you how exhilarated I am by the strong vote that I have from my colleagues as we go forward," Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters Wednesday after she was re-elected to the Democrat leadership post she's held for the past 14 years. Pelosi noted that her fellow House Democrats have honored her with the leadership role in the past, and while "that's exciting," she said Wednesday's election "has a special excitement for me because I think we're at a time that is well beyond politics. It's about the character of America. More |
NOTE: INMATE VISITATION CHANGES FOR DECEMBER Posted: 02 Dec 2016 05:30 PM PST During the month of December, children will be allowed to visit during each visitation period. More than one child may visit if space allows. Female visitation periods will include their current child visitation schedule. If the inmate does not have a child visiting, he/she will be permitted a regular visit (one per day) on his/her scheduled visitation days during the month. There will be NO VISITS on Sunday, December 25, 2016 and Sunday, January 1, 2017 due to the holidays. The visits that would normally take place on those days for C Block and Work Release will be changed to Tuesday, December 27, 2016 and Tuesday, January 3, 2017. The Wicomico County Department of Corrections recognizes that contact with family and friends is beneficial to all inmates. It strengthens community ties and increases the likelihood of an inmate's successful reintegration into the community. However, violations of departmental rules and regulations may result in suspension of visitation for a period of time. More |
Obama administration stiff-arms lawmakers questioning secret refugee deal Posted: 02 Dec 2016 05:00 PM PST Nearly 2,500 refugees from terrorism hotspots around the world are bound for the U.S. after being rejected by Australia, but not even top lawmakers can get answers about who they are. In an unprecedented move, the U.S. State Department has classified details on refugees to be resettled in America via a secret deal made with Australia. The bi-lateral agreement, which Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull called a "one-off," involves 2,465 people currently being held in Papua New Guinea and Nauru who will now be transferred onto U.S. soil. When staffers probed the number of individuals being considered for resettlement, they were told it was "classified," even though refugee admissions are traditionally public. Officials, however, did confirm countries of origin to be Iran, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq and Sudan, as well as some deemed "stateless." Iran, Sudan and Syria are the three countries on the U.S. current State Sponsors of Terrorism list. But Barnett said the "stateless" category is most worrisome. "These could be Burmese Muslims, who have posed assimilation issues for every nation which has taken them," said Barnett. More |
Staff Investigates Stranded Manatee in Baltimore Posted: 02 Dec 2016 04:30 PM PST Department Urges Residents to Report Uncommon Marine Animals Following a recent stranding of a manatee in Baltimore County, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources reminds state residents to report any sightings of uncommon marine mammals and wildlife, including dolphins, manatees, sea turtles or whales. The public can report sightings and strandings anytime to 800-628-9944.The department received a call last week from a citizen who reported a deceased manatee in Colgate Creek in Dundalk. Subsequently, the 9-foot, 800-pound animal was examined by an interagency team of biologists and veterinarians at the Smithsonian Institution. This was only the third case of a deceased manatee in Maryland. "With cooling weather, current Maryland water temperatures are well below a manatee's minimum survival temperature," said Natural Resources State Fish and Wildlife Veterinarian Cindy P. Driscoll. "We are still analyzing samples taken during the necropsy examination, which will be analyzed over the next few weeks. Until that time the cause of death remains undetermined." Manatees are aquatic mammals commonly found in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina but in recent years have been found in waters ranging from Massachusetts to Texas, including Maryland. The first live Maryland manatee was documented in 1994 along the Upper Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. "Chessie" was captured in Queenstown and taken to Florida for release a few days later. Since that time, manatees have been reported throughout the Chesapeake Bay each summer. Approximately 6,000 manatees are thought to exist in the U.S The department's Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Stranding Response Program began in 1990 and has recorded over 1,000 strandings to date. Staff biologists respond to dead stranded marine animals and assist other organizations in live animal response both in the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. |

Posted: 02 Dec 2016 03:30 PM PST Illegal deer hunting topped the cases handled in recent days by the Maryland Natural Resources Police. Three West Virginia men were charged Friday night with illegal deer hunting by officers on surveillance in Montgomery County. Robert Lee Windsor, 49, of Bunker Hill; Anthony Wayne Shackelford, 53, and Robert William Ice, 46, both of Falling Waters, were stopped after officers noticed their pickup truck passing and slowing along farm fields with its headlights illuminating the landscape. Inside the vehicle, officers found a rifle with a high-powered scope, ammunition, lights and tools to butcher deer. Each man was charged with hunting deer at night, hunting during a closed season and casting rays with an implement (jacklighting). The men are scheduled to appear in Montgomery County District Court Jan. 24. If found guilty of all charges, each man could be fined as much as $2,950. ________________________________________ A joint investigation by Maryland and Pennsylvania law enforcement resulted in a Pennsylvania man being charged last Thursday with multiple counts of illegal deer hunting. Ralph Carmello Bradley, 35, of Greencastle, was cited for hunting without a Maryland license, failing to buy a bow stamp, two counts of exceeding the bag limit, two counts of failing to report deer kills to the state and four counts of failing to record the deer kills on a harvest record. Acting on a tip, an officer learned of Bradley's activity and asked the Pennsylvania Game Commission to interview the hunter. During the interview, officers learned that Bradley killed an 8-point buck and a doe in Washington County, Maryland. A Maryland officer interviewed Bradley at his father's home in Hancock and learned that the hunter also killed three bucks between Oct. 31 and Nov. 14. The officer seized the venison and donated it to the Hagerstown Rescue Mission for distribution. A hearing date has not yet been set in Washington County District Court. If he pleads guilty to all charges, Bradley could be ordered to pay a fine of $2,600. If the case goes to trial and he is found guilty of all charges, the fined could be as much as $15,000. _________________________________________ A Cecil County man was charged with three counts of illegal hunting by officers responding to a complaint about trespassing. Raymond Harry Strong, 56, of Port Deposit received citations Nov. 18 after officers using thermal imaging detected him in full camouflage standing next to a tree holding a loaded rifle. Strong was charged with hunting on private property without written permission, hunting with a rifle in a closed season and failing to have a hunting license in his possession. He is scheduled to appear in Cecil County District Court Feb. 15. If Strong pleads guilty before that date, he can be fined $730. If he chooses to go to trial and is found guilty of all charges, he could be fined as much as $4,500. |

(AP) — A Maryland task force on the state's juvenile justice system is struggling to resolve conflicting concerns over rehabilitating youths and staff safety on policies relating to strip searches and restraints. The task force spent nearly three hours Thursday discussing and voting on recommendations on strip searches. Maryland Department of Juvenile Justice Secretary Sam Abed says he isn't pleased with the process so far. He says he's hoping the task force will give more consideration to changes they end up recommending in a final report that is due later this month. More |

We must make sure that the federal government's role and reviews are fair, open and followed to the letter of the law. "Peaceful protest and the right of all citizens to be heard are cornerstones of our democracy. Decatur Children’s Theatre Returns For 40th Annual Production Posted: 02 Dec 2016 11:30 AM PST BERLIN – Students at Stephen Decatur High School will celebrate four decades of enchanting local children from the stage with this year's rendition of Fantastic Mr. Fox. On Dec. 1, students kicked off the 40th Annual Stephen Decatur High School Children's Theatre with Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox. In the coming days, the show is expected to draw more than 9,000 elementary school children from all over the Eastern Shore to Decatur's auditorium. As always, this year's Children's Theatre production was designed with them in mind. "The set is gorgeous, the songs are lively, the action is silly," said drama teacher Brandon Cater. Cater, who took over the drama department last year after the retirement of Decatur's renowned Gwen Lehman, said a Washington D.C.-area show inspired him to do something a bit different with this year's performance. So instead of the usual adaption of a well-known fairy tale, Cater opted to have his students perform the Dahl story while incorporating the use of large scale puppets. To further differentiate the production, he engaged the help of fellow Decatur graduate Brendan McGeehan do develop original music for the play. More |
College Encourages Students to Color Posted: 02 Dec 2016 11:00 AM PST As Big Government becomes ever more committed to seeing that as many as possible attend college regardless of their likeliness to benefit, tuition has shot into the stratosphere. Unfortunately, there has not been a corresponding rise in the quality of education. But at least colleges are expanding into new areas — like encouraging increasingly infantilized students to color: Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania is apparently encouraging students to reduce their testing stress by coloring. The college's Testing Center has sponsored stations to be set up in the testing center to "Color Away Your Testing Stress," according to a promotional flyer obtained by Campus Reform. It seems that relieving exam stress by studying for the exam is outmoded. This isn't the school's only venture into moonbattery: BCCC also came under fire last year for firing an astronomy professor merely for mentioning God in a letter to students, which the school deemed a second offense because the professor had previously received a warning after offering students a free book on the last day of class that included Christian themes. No need to think about grown-up stuff like the existence of God. Just chill out with some Crayolas while the school installs politically correct talking points where there could have been a developing mind. More |
Pocomoke City Mayor hosts old-fashioned Christmas (TONIGHT) Posted: 02 Dec 2016 10:30 AM PST When Pocomoke City elected Bruce Morrison to the office of mayor for the first time six years ago, he wanted to create an event to thank citizens for their support, thus the first Mayor's Old Fashioned Christmas Evening was born. Celebrated this Friday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the mini-park and the adjoining municipal parking lot on Clarke Street, across the street from City Hall, the event will offer several different holiday-oriented activities, and most of them are free of charge. "I really wanted to give back to the citizens, and most everything there is free. It's family fun, and it doesn't cost you anything," Morrison said. "Bring the family and come meet Santa, visit the bonfire for s'mores and listen to the music." Morrison said the event's popularity is evidenced by the turnout — between 700-800 people last year. The Mayor's Old-Fashioned Christmas will offer numerous old-fashioned activities, including horse-drawn carriage rides, Santa's house, and ornament and cookie decorating for children. More |
Liberal California Just Passed Law On Regulating COW FARTS Because…Global Warming Posted: 02 Dec 2016 10:00 AM PST This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard thus far. According to fox 6 news in New York, California Governor Jerry Brown has recently passed legislation that will work to limit the methane gases that released from cows. I am not even making this up right now. To continue, dairy farmers are having to purchase equipment to trap the gases. According to Fox 6 news: Dairy farmers say the new regulations will drive up costs when they're already struggling with five years of drought, low milk prices and rising labor costs. They're also concerned about a newly signed law that will boost overtime pay for farmworkers. It just makes it more challenging. We're continuing to lose dairies. Dairies are moving out of state to places where these costs don't exist," said Paul Sousa, director of environmental services for Western United Dairymen. The dairy industry could be forced to move production to states and countries with fewer regulations, leading to higher emissions globally, Sousa said. More |
WHAT! NY Medicaid To Cover Transgender Surgery For KIDS! Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:53 AM PST Why is it that the left have not only claimed science for their own purposes, but have even shaped sound reason to sound insane? When it comes to advancing their narrative, science and all it's provable facts tends to get eliminated along with the unwanted babies…too much? Then blame the left, because that's what they do. One can't help but notice that their ideology circumvents things like facts and reality on a regular basis. It's like they can take a well known and proven fact gender, scramble the bits, and call it the opposite sex!…which brings us to this next mental wreck just waiting to happen. Liberal New York is on the path to help transgender KIDS…By offering health coverage for 'necessities' such as, well I don't know…boob jobs. Yes. Apparently changing the natural identity of a child is a healthy choice now, because no ethical surgeon that would perform an operation like this one because a patient wanted it. Right? But there's more…get ready for New York to also introduce "vital care" for tiny trans tots… Twelve states and Washington, D.C., cover transition-related health care under Medicaid for transgender people. In 2014, Oregon became the first state to cover puberty blockers for youths under Medicaid, and California's also ordered to cover care related to gender transition. More |
Trump Will Soon Have Power To Text All Americans Or Something Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:45 AM PST Everybody Panic? Well, if you're a liberal, this could potentially spell doom for the Republic (CNET) President-elect Donald Trump will have access to a system that can send unblockable texts to every phone in the US once he takes the oath of office. Wireless Emergency Alerts are a program created by a 2006 act of Congress. The so-called "WEAs" can be targeted messages sent to allmobile phones in a particular area, like Amber alerts, or to all phones nationally, like an alert issued by the president, according to a report by New York Magazine's Select/All blog. Trump is known for off-the-cuff messages on social media, especially Twitter. Tweets and other social missives lent Trump a direct mouthpiece to his supporters, bolstering his campaign and circumventing traditional media that he sometimes claimed was treating him unfairly. But tweets have landed Trump in hot water, too. Critics claim his informal tweeting is unpresidential, pointing to such behavior as an early-morning rant lashing out at a former beauty-pangeant winner, retweets withmedia linked to white supremecists and messages that promote unsubstantiated news, among others. SUCCESS! Hiring SPIKES After Donald Trump’s Victorious Election! Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:37 AM PST There may have been some uncertainty in the job market leading up to the election… but one thing is certain now… retailers like the fact that Donald Trump was just elected 45th President of the United States. Economists that were polled by the Wall Street Journal, predicted 170,000 new jobs in November. There have been 216,000 new hires for November and most of them were in the retail sector. Seasonal traffic can account for some of that, but by any measure that is a hiring spike. With Donald Trump's successes in keeping Ford and Carrier jobs in the US even before he takes office, business owners are noticing and displaying optimism for growth here in the States. Something that has not happened in more than eight years of enforced Marxism by Barack Obama. It's as if small and big businesses here in the US are breathing a collective sigh of relief as we step back from the edge of the economic cliff at least for now. More |
Gas Prices May Rise As OPEC Slashes Production Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:30 AM PST BALTIMORE (WJZ) — For the first time in 8 years, OPEC decided to cut oil production by more than a million barrels a day. Experts say the ripple effects are already being felt at some gas pumps. WJZ checked stats with AAA and the average cost per gallon is $2.18. That's just one penny more than a week ago, but experts say don't get comfortable. One expert tells WJZ me an unpleasant change may be just around the corner. The decision made all the way around the world, will have a trickle down effect. Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries or OPEC, has struggled to keep it's grip on the market over the past few years because of increased competition, so the group decided to slash production by more than one million barrels a day. TWITTER Threatens Trump By Taking Hard Stance Against Him – They Will BAN Him Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:23 AM PST Twitter is now threatening to ban Donald Trump if he gets too unruly. Bwa ha ha ha ha! Snort!! Go ahead… DO IT! Millions will leave Twitter if Trump goes and then asks them to leave as well. Maybe someone will start a social media platform that is actually unbiased, or God-forbid conservative. Can you imagine if millions boycotted Twitter? It would spread like wildfire. There is a huge business opportunity there and I'll bet that Trump would capitalize on it. Twitter's definition of 'hate' and 'violence' is exceedingly subjective. The Daily Caller notes how this stance differs from their stance four years ago. Then they said they liked to stay neutral and they believed in free speech. Not so much these days and many users out there will attest to that. Slate reported, however, the Commander-in-Tweet will not face those kind of restrictions on Facebook. Responding to calls for a suspension of Trump's Facebook page after he called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in November it would be inappropriate to interfere with a major-party candidate's political posts. Agreed and that was the correct position to take. More |
Is College Worth It? Recent Grads Share Their Experiences Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:15 AM PST When young adults set out to pick a college back in 2010 and 2011, they were making a decision of a lifetime amid big financial obstacles: soaring tuition and the great recession. And as they progressed through their college careers, a debate over the value of college grew louder. A long held mantra – that the best investment is a good education – is increasingly being called into question. Some politicians, high-profile entrepreneurs and even educators, have become publicly skeptical of the worth of a degree that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to obtain. In that context, NPR's Robert Siegel set out to learn how nine bright and engaging college students feel now about the choices they made back then. How have they handled the financial burden? And how well positioned do they feel for the future? Robert spent a year visiting with people who made a variety of decisions – attending a big state university, private college and community college. More |
These States Allow Teachers And Staff To Hit Students Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:07 AM PST Twenty-two states still allow corporal punishment in school: 15 expressly permit it while another seven do not prohibit it. That's according to a recent letter written by U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. to the nation's governors and state school chiefs. Not sure what, exactly, corporal punishment is? Here's a quick primer. It often involves a paddle. Always, pain. That's the point. The National Association of School Psychologists explains corporal punishment as "the intentional infliction of pain or discomfort and/or the use of physical force upon a student with the intention of causing the student to experience bodily pain so as to correct or punish the student's behavior." Lest you think this kind of extreme discipline died with the dunce cap, that letter we mentioned — from Secretary King — decried the fact that, in the 2013-2014 school year, more than 110,000 students were physically punished. The move comes after an investigation by Education Week into the prevalence of the practice. More |
Will Small ‘Sanctuary Cities’ Defy a Trump Crackdown? Posted: 02 Dec 2016 09:00 AM PST Big "sanctuary cities" like Chicago and New York say they are determined to defy President-elect Donald Trump's command to detain undocumented immigrant criminals. But many smaller ones may find it harder to do so. Smaller cities and counties that ignore requests from federal authorities to detain undocumented immigrants, but don't see themselves as sanctuaries, may find themselves vulnerable to the president-elect's threat to withhold federal money from them if they do not cooperate, especially in states where Trump won a majority of votes. Trump has said he wants to deport some 2 million to 3 million immigrants with criminal records. That figure is an apparent reference to the 1.9 million immigrants with criminal records estimated by the Migration Policy Institute, of which 820,000 are unauthorized to be here. And Trump has vowed to withhold what amounts to hundreds of millions, if not billions, of federal dollars for policing, jails, courts, housing, roads and education from cities, counties and states that provide a "sanctuary" by not cooperating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and detaining the criminals for deportation. Report: Drunk Hillary Demanding Recount to “Lift Her Spirits” Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:45 AM PST Wino Hillary hurling slurred insults at former campaign Hillary Clinton, now suffering from depression and borderline alcohol abuse, was encouraged by her aides to demand a quixotic recount as a way to "lift her spirits." "She is weepy, looks ten years older and is very whiny," a Clinton insider told the media. "She has been drinking wine pretty heavily, much more than usual." "She mopes around all day, swimming in a sea of recriminations and complaining that her campaign managers were 'incompetent,' Bill and Chelsea 'didn't work hard enough,' FBI Director Comey was 'in league with Trump.'" Additionally, President Obama, who pressured Clinton to concede to Donald Trump on election night, also encouraged her to jump on board Jill Stein's recount effort to make the globalists look less defeated. White House announces support for women in military draft Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:30 AM PST WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration declared its support Thursday for requiring women to register for the military draft, a symbolic but significant shift that reflects the U.S. military's evolution from a male-dominated force to one seeking to incorporate women at all levels. President Barack Obama has been considering whether to adopt the position since last December, when Defense Secretary Ash Carter ordered the military to open all jobs to women, including the most arduous combat posts. Ned Price, a spokesman for the White House's National Security Council, said Obama believes women have "proven their mettle," including in Afghanistan and Iraq. "As old barriers for military service are being removed, the administration supports — as a logical next step — women registering for the Selective Service," Price said, using the formal name for the military draft. Donald Trump at Carrier: Companies Won’t Leave United States Without Consequences Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:15 AM PST President-elect Donald Trump visited the Carrier air conditioner factory in Indiana, praising the company decision to keep 1,100 jobs in the United States, reversing their plans to move the jobs to Mexico. During his speech, Trump revealed that he was watching a news report a week ago that featured a Carrier worker who was convinced that the president-elect was going to save their jobs. Trump admitted that it inspired him to pick up the phone and call Greg Hayes the chair of United Technologies, the company that owned Carrier to convince him to reverse his decision. Pence and Trump worked out a $7 million tax break deal with the company to convince them to stay in the United States. Trump toured the factory and visited with some of the workers, some who showed off their "Make America Great Again" hats and took pictures with the president-elect. More |

Trump Could Reshape The Federal Courts Dramatically Posted: 02 Dec 2016 08:00 AM PST President-elect Donald Trump can substantively recast the direction of the federal courts from the earliest days of his administration, after two years of divided government have left vacancies open across the federal bench. Though the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court occasioned by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia is the most prominent of these vacancies, there are 104 total vacancies and 38 judicial emergencies in the federal courts as of this writing. A judicial emergency, as defined by the Judicial Conference of the United States, occurs when action items on a court's docket exceed 6/700 per judge, or where a vacancy has lasted longer than 18 months and there are between 430-600 action items per judge. Some district court judges around the country are currently contending with dockets 1,200 filings long. Of the 104 current vacancies, one is on the Supreme Court, 13 are on the federal appeals courts, 82 are in U.S. district courts, and eight are in courts of special jurisdiction like the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Search Underway On Shore For Police Impersonators Who Assaulted And Robbed Driver In Worcester Co. Posted: 02 Dec 2016 12:30 PM PST (SNOW HILL, MD) — Maryland State Police are searching for three suspects who reportedly impersonated police officers when they stopped a woman traveling through Worcester County yesterday evening and assaulted her before taking money and jewelry. The victim is a 38-year-old female from Brooklyn, New York. She was treated for exposure to pepper spray and examined at Peninsula Regional Medical Center before being released last night. The first suspect is described as an African American male with short hair and a full beard. He was wearing a black suit, white shirt and tie. The second suspect is described as an African American male who is bald, with no facial hair and was wearing black pants and a white shirt. He was carrying a small black handgun. The third suspect is described as a white male with either a shaved head or short hair. He was wearing a zippered black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The vehicle the suspects were using is described as a black Chevrolet SUV, with unknown Maryland registration plates. The victim reported the vehicle was equipped with red and blue flashing lights. Shortly before 6:00 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police from the Salisbury Barrack responded to a 911 call from the victim, who said she was driving away from the location where she had been pulled over, assaulted and robbed by the three suspects. The victim was told to pull over and troopers would locate her. Troopers found the victim in the area of Powellville Road and Webb Road, in Powellville. The investigation indicates the victim was stopped and assaulted in the area of Whiton Road at Snow Hill Road in Worcester County. After the incident, she began driving away from the area before calling police. The victim stated she was driving from New York to Norfolk, Virginia in a rented vehicle. She said when the suspect vehicle activated the red and blue lights, she pulled over, thinking it was a police vehicle. She said the first suspect approached the driver side of the car and sprayed pepper spray into the vehicle before spraying it onto a towel that he held over her face. The victim, who is pregnant, said she got out of the car and was punched in the stomach by the first suspect. The victim said the second suspect was holding a small black handgun and wearing a gold badge on a chain around his neck. He stole her purse, which contained cash and an ornately jeweled belt of great value. The victim said the third suspect remained at the rear of the suspects' vehicle. The three suspects left the scene in their vehicle. A search throughout the night for the suspects has had negative results. Anyone who may have seen these vehicles stopped in the area of Whiton Road and Snow Hill Road yesterday evening, or who may have seen a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description, is urged to contact Maryland State Police at 410-749-3101, or 410-641-3101. GOP weighs reversal of 'hundreds' of Obama executive actions Posted: 02 Dec 2016 07:15 AM PST Republicans will soon begin sifting through "hundreds" of executive actions implemented by President Obama in order to determine which ones to reverse, House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday. "That is something that the transition team is working on right now as to what executive actions that the Obama administration did and how we are going to deal with it," Ryan told reporters. Many are wondering whether Trump will reverse the Obama administration's move to end the deportation of some illegal immigrants who arrived here as children, a group supporters label "Dreamers." Ryan, R-Wis., said he doesn't know which executive actions are likely to be revoked, but said the Trump administration and Republicans may be looking for executive action targets to eliminate that won't cause an uproar, as deporting the Dreamers is likely to do. These numbers should SHUT UP liberals about the Electoral College once and for all Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:53 AM PST After all it's unfair: Hillary Clinton won the "popular vote" so she should win, right? Wrong. The keening and caterwauling we've been treated to by the left since Hillary Clinton's defeat has been monumental. Most entertaining has been the snowflake retreat to "safe spaces" with puppies and coloring books to assuage their anguish. Less entertaining were the violent protests which were paid for erupted in cities across the nation. Putting aside Jill Stein's quixotic effort to force a recount, the left has been loudest with its demands to dismantle the Electoral College. After all it's unfair: Hillary Clinton won the "popular vote" so she should win, right? Wrong. Our Founders in their infinite wisdom created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation? The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet and it should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense. More |

Philadelphia City Attorney Linked To Anti-Trump Grafitti Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:37 AM PST Philadelphia police have launched an investigation into an assistant city attorney in connection with anti-Trump graffiti found on the side of an upscale supermarket in Chestnut Hill on November 25th, according to the Inquirer; meanwhile an angry local Republican Party wants him fired. Surveillance footage released overnight, shows two men walking along in Chestnut Hill, around midnight on Friday by the Fresh Market located at 8200 Germantown Avenue. One wears a blue blazer, khakis and a rakishly-tied scarf, and carries a glass of wine. What at first appeared like a calm end to a night out in an upscale part of the city, changed when the second man was seen spray painting a message on the wall of a newly-constructed grocery store: "Fuck Trump." Accomack school district suspends “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:30 AM PST ACCOMACK CO., Va. - They've been in classrooms for decades, but two classic American novels are now temporarily banned from Accomack County Public Schools. Use of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" were suspended after a parent raised concerns about their use of the N-word. "There's so much racial slurs and defensive wording in there that you can't get past that," the mother said during last month's school board meeting. "Right now, we are a nation divided as it is." She filed a complaint through a "Request for Reconsideration of Learning Resources" form. More |
HUD Snuffs Out All Smoking in Public Housing Units Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:23 AM PST WASHINGTON -- Housing and Urban Development is going to snuff out ciggies within 18 months inside all public housing units and within 25 feet of the entrance to any unit. More than 228,000 public housing units are already smoke-free, according to HUD, and the new rule expand the mandatory ban on smoking to more than 940,000 units. "Such a policy is expected to improve indoor air quality in public housing; benefit the health of public housing residents, visitors, and PHA staff; reduce the risk of catastrophic fires; and lower overall maintenance costs," says the HUD rule. Man 'cured' of prostate cancer after doctors shock tumour to death with testosterone Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:07 AM PST A man with advanced prostate cancer is believed to be cured after doctors 'shocked' his tumour to death with huge amounts of testosterone. The result has been described as 'unexpected' and 'exciting' because most prostate cancer therapies work by depriving tumours of testosterone, because cancer uses it as a fuel. Other seriously ill men taking part in the same trial showed responses that astounded scientists, with tumours shrinking and the progress of their disease halted. Levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), a blood marker used to monitor prostate cancer, also fell in the majority of the 47 participants. One individual whose PSA levels dropped to zero after three months and shows no remaining trace of the disease after 22 cycles of treatment appears to be cured, said the researchers. More |
6M have stopped paying their Car Loans, and it's becoming a 'significant concern' Posted: 02 Dec 2016 06:00 AM PST There is a lot of talk out there about the auto-loan market right now. Hedge fund manager Jim Chanos has said the auto-lending market should "scare the heck out of everybody," while the auto-lending practices of some used-car dealerships has been given the John Oliver treatment on TV. It's a topic we've been paying attention to as well. In a presentation in September at the Barclays Financial Services Conference, Gordon Smith, the chief executive for consumer and community banking at JPMorgan, set out some eye-opening statistics on the market. Now the New York Federal Reserve is taking a closer look at the market. In a blog published Wednesday on the New York Fed's Liberty Street Economics site, researchers highlighted the deteriorating performance of subprime auto loans and set off the alarm. "The worsening in the delinquency rate of subprime auto loans is pronounced, with a notable increase during the past few years," the report said. More |
Dollar General's Startling Admission: Half Of U.S. Consumers Are Feeling More "Dire" Than Ever Posted: 02 Dec 2016 05:45 AM PST When we last looked at the performance of deep discount retailer Dollar General three months ago, we found something troubling: company CEO Todd Vasos, who badly missed its earnings expectations, admitted on the Q2 conference call that he was surprised to admit that while on the surface things are supposed to be getting better, the reality is vastly different for low-income US consumers: I know that when we look at globally the overall U.S. population, it seems like things are getting better. But when you really start breaking it down and you look at that core consumer that we serve on the lower economic scale that's out there, that demographic, things have not gotten any better for her, and arguably, they're worse. And they're worse, because rents are accelerating, healthcare is accelerating on her at a very, very rapid clip. Making matters worse, he added that the company's core consumers base, 65% of which is comprised of lower-income shoppers, has been impacted by the recent reduction or elimination in foodstamps: "now couple that in upwards of 20 states where they have reduced or eliminated the SNAP benefit, and it has really put a toll on [the core consumer]." Democratic donors tell party they're not giving any more after US election loss Posted: 02 Dec 2016 05:15 AM PST Donors to the Democratic Party burnt out after last month's catastrophic electoral losses. Democrats lost the White House and failed to take enough seats in the House and Senate to constitute a majority, and their top donors have had enough. 'I may very well be done with political giving entirely,' John Morgan, a top Clinton fundraiser in Florida told The Hill. 'My message to anyone reading this is, "Don't call me, I'll call you." ' The losing political party is on a quest to remake its national political operation into one that's more inclusive after an email scandal in 2016 showed party leaders favoring the establishment. Democrats must pick a new party leader early next year after the president leaves office. Two state party chairs from New Hampshire and South Carolina, a sitting congressman and a former Democratic National Committee chairman are seeking the position. At least two other heads of liberal organizations and a former governor are considering bids, too. More |

Donald Trump Wants You To Stop Saying ‘Happy Holidays’ And Start Saying ‘Merry Christmas’ Posted: 02 Dec 2016 04:15 AM PST The president-elect — who once said his favorite book was the Bible — repeatedly insisted that if he was elected, people would be saying "Merry Christmas" instead of the politically correct "happy holidays." Would You Pay To Wash Your Clothes At Someone Else’s House? Posted: 01 Dec 2016 10:00 PM PST Not that long ago, you might have bristled at the notion of paying a stranger to chauffeur you around town in the back of their car, or that you could easily rent out the extra room in your house like a hotel. Is turning your laundry room into a laundromat the next step? Electrolux is testing an Uber-like laundry service that matches people who have dirty clothes with those who have machines in which to wash those clothes. Engadget, citing a Financial Times interview (behind a paywall) with Electrolux CEO Jonas Samuelson, reports that the company is testing a system in which customers would play to clean their clothes at someone else's house. Samuelson didn't elaborate on how long the tests had been going on, or if they had been successful so far. More |
