Is there a row brewing over £2 billion London City Airport sale? Posted: 26 Feb 2016 12:39 AM PST Perhaps I spoke (wrote?) too soon. According to Kleinman of Sky News, HNA submitted a higher for London City Airport - see below. London City Airport has been sold to a Canadian-led consortium for "well over" £2bn despite, I'm told, a higher bid from China's HNA Group. But Global Infrastructure Partners decided to sell to the "mega" consortium, according to reports. Kleinman's usually right so I'm presuming GIP didn't think it was worthwhile agreeing a higher deal with the Chinese as there was too much regulatory/political risk around a sale to the HNA? |
Posted: 26 Feb 2016 12:41 AM PST It looks like the "mega" consortium has won the £2 billion auction for London City airport. Well, that's what the Financial Times is reporting this evening. Here is the link: http://www.ft.com/fastft/2016/02/25/ontario-teachers-fund-wins-2bn-race-for-london-city-aiport/ It's a good scoop from FT but I think little old Betaville was the first to reveal the "mega" consortium had come together to bid for London City airport late last year.
